Had yet another wonderful vacation to the beautiful Nomi Resort. It’s fun to play along the edges of Algonquin Park. Nothing beats having a beautiful resort with great food and a luxurious spa to retire to after a morning hike on the trails, or an adventurous drive down a backcountry logging road. Proximity to the cultural center of Maynooth, ON is an added bonus. Can’t wait to come back again.

The fact that Nomi bills itself as a "Luxury Resort in Algonguin" is completing misleading. We stayed at Nomi for 2 nights and were disappointed. The fact that we paid $340 per night also heightened our disappointment. Before I launch into a diatribe about the condition of the "resort" I should say that the staff were excellent and tried to accommodate as very best as possible.

When we got off the elevator to go to our rooms we were greeted with a very strong sewer gas smell. Entering our room we found the same smell as well as burnt out light bulbs and the ones the did work were a distressing mixture of retina burning LED bulbs and old school incandescent. The ceiling tiles are stained and a large number are broken. The bathroom has not been updated in many years (excluding the sink) with tiles missing around the tub, mold and mildew in the tub jets and on the bathroom ceiling. As well the bathtub is like a skating rink - crazy slippery when wet and no tub mats were available.

When we pulled back the comforter on the bed the fitted sheet was stained. We did ask for the sheets to be replaced and the receptionist apologized and made sure the sheets were replaced. Other items that I would consider difficencies for a "luxury" resort included no water glasses in the room, no night light in the very very dark bathroom and they didn't resupply the in room coffee maker pods and left our dirty coffee cups. When I went down to get some of the complimentary coffee in the lobby, it was not available and I had to ask one of the kitchen staff to get the pods and water reservoir in order to make ourselves a coffee.

Again - for the most part the staff were very helpful but this is certainly not a luxury resort by any stretch of the imagination.

If you drive a sport car - the drive up to the Nomi Resort is absolutely fantastic. Coming from Toronto, taking 507,503,118 & 648, the roads just keep on giving curves after curves. The staff is beyond just nice. They have hearts. Being a dog friendly hotel, I totally forgot to pack my dog's food. Nomi's staff make sure my dog fed well, they even offer her beef steak. The spa is another world, my wife had a therapeutic massage and It was one of the best massage she ever had.

Harvey has been absolutely fantastic, answered all my questions about the Mother’s Day brunch, conscientious of my food allergies and calling back with questions answered. I am SO pleased with the service provided by Harvey, we are so excited!

Nomi resort has always gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome and special. Had a group up in January to the spa and lands fifty and the food was amazing with fabulous service. We'll be back again.

Great location, the resort is a little dated but clean and comfortable. The dining was not as great as indicated by other reviews. The signature beef shortrib dish was good but the other dishes on the menu were below average. We used a travel voucher which indicated that taxes and gratuities were not included. A $118 charge was added arbitrarily by the resort. Not impressed by that.

The place is beautiful. Delicious food and wonderful service.
It is the perfect place to rest and be in contact with nature.

Not a place I would stay again. I left a review on here 8 months ago.however I don't see anymore.

Staff is wonderful and helpful. Very nice atmosphere, cozy lounge, rooms aren't super modern but comfortable and functional. Location is great, very close to horseback riding and hiking in Algonquin. Just make sure you plan ahead if you want to leave the resort for dinner, 2 places we went to were closed and had to come back to eat at the resort (which was delicious).

Not sure what is going on at this place. Tried to call to book several times, was told I’d get a call back. Still nothing. What a waste of time. Don’t bother using a voucher from Wagjag unless you want to waste your time and have to get it refunded.

Very clean, great attentive staff and a cozy and calming atmosphere. The food from LANDS 8FIFTY was out of this world. The chef puts very much passion and creativity into his dishes.

Nomi Resort is amazing! Highly recommend to anyone looking to get away for a couple days. The resort, service, and staff made this a top-tier experience. You will not be disappointed.

We stayed for one night to be close by to a family member’s cottage, so we didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the spa or access the lake. That said, we really enjoyed our stay! The room was spacious and comfortable and had a number of little extras that made our stay more comfortable, including a Nespresso machine and comfy white robes. The bed was very comfortable and the room had huge windows looking out to a lovely view. The property is older but it was exceptionally clean and many efforts have been made to modernize the rooms and common areas. We also enjoyed a top-notch breakfast with fantastic service from the very friendly staff. We hope to come back to stay again and enjoy more of the amenities!

Food was great, rooms were sufficient. They are earnest hosts and try very hard. There was just a weird vibe the entire time. I would recommend going for dinner, but not staying over until their renovations are complete.

Love the staff, super friendly and the rooms are SUPER CLEAN! Great spot to come clear your mind and get away from all the chaos!

This is an awesome place to stay nearby Algonquin. Added perks are the free canoe and fat bikes.

It is a terrible place to work where the manager does not pay for all the hours worked or stalls the payments. It is a very cold location.

Beautiful trails during the October fall season. A nice place to get away and relax. The resort is close to Algonquin Park, with lots of hiking trails. High Falls is only a short 4-5 min drive up the road from the Nomi Resort. The interior is being renovated and is quite beautiful. Its a wonderful place to stay with friends or just for couples, to relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. We are looking forward to coming here in the winter to explore the trails again and take in the amazing food that the LANDS850 restaurant has to offer.

Much of the time, this place is considered as a hidden gem. I am looking forward to coming back again.

Lovely room; good food; helpful, knowledgeable staff. Great hiking trails! Peaceful spot for a break from busy city life! Rustic beauty!
09 April 2019 18:13
Great food, beautiful property, friendly staff, though they are the bare minimum. Smell of the lobby was a little overbearing, rooms definitely need some loving care. They do not have room attendees, no tea, back door was locked all weekend so you had to trudge all the way back around after parking. Worth the wagjag deal.
26 February 2019 11:36
The staff are Fantastic, The rooms and layout are spectacular. Difficult to get there the roads leading up to Nomi are rough. The Dinner was great, ordered the steak, it was a little underdone to my liking but still great! Will be back
20 January 2019 18:57
Place is situated in a very quiet and serene location. Trails are well kept, hospitality is great, food is very tasty and the environment inside the resort is peaceful. Rooms are clean and our particular one in the corner had a great view of the surrounding forests. Very pleased. Would definitely return.
16 January 2019 21:40
Nomi Resort was a beautiful retreat into a remote forest filled with beauty and quiet. We went for a weekend couple's retreat and loved it! The staff are friendly, the food was excellent, and the rooms were private and clean. We loved the relaxed feel there and would gladly return! I would highly recommend this as your place to get away from it all!
11 January 2019 11:22
I was challenged to get anyone to pick up the phone to book my weekend. But once I finally got that arranged, the weekend was lovely overall. There are limited check in, and meal times so you must be aware of that. As well, there is no liquor license so you just bring your own. That wasn't actually bad as you could bring what you liked. They are truly understaffed with only three, but they did a good job and were responsive when we needed something. Food was extremely delicious. Excellent flavors, portions and presentation. Rooms are rustic but well appointed. No elevator service this weekend so we had to lug everything up to the 3rd floor. Some work is still required on the building and grounds but all in all it was a lovely weekend. It is a very relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend if you can get it as a wag jag. If they continue working on it, it could ge a great resort.

Very bad customer service! I booked through Expedia and gave all my credit card info. The following day hotel manager Elise called me from her Personal Cellphone number and ask me for my credit card number and the number on the back, for whatever reason or their stupid policies, for me this sounds very fishy and very unprofessional! This manager was extremely rude as well, it’s like she’s giving me an order to give her those info. Seriously? Then she threaten me that if not your reservation will be canceled. I’m a gold Expedia member, I’ve stayed to so many hotels worldwide, never experienced this issue. To be avoid! Very bad bad bad

Drove 5 hours in the rain for a 3 pm check in. Arrived at facility at 2: 55 and front doors were locked with no information as to why. I knocked on door, walked around the entire building never seeing a person at the facility. I called the number listed on the front door which went to voicemail and I left a message asking what was happening. I waited until 3: 10 and I left. The facility is located in an extremely isolated area in northern Ontario with no other hotels available. I left and drove 75 miles to find another hotel. I got a text message from the manager stating she was in the phone when I called and that if she was a few minutes late in unlocking the front doors? , that’s was just the way it was. I felt as if I was at the hotel in the movie, The Shining, and Jack Nicholson was going to appear and say”Here’s Johnny” The manager stated that it was my fault, and that she did nothing wrong. Am I living in Bizarreo World or what.

Virtually no staff other than one woman and the chef. The woman told us that we may not be able to have dinner for both nights due to limited reservations left, yet when we arrived for dinner our first night there were only three other tables occupied with plenty empty. Could not find anybody during the day to discuss making dinner reservations or renting a boat from their beach. Food was average, nothing to boast about. The bar has a pool table and a dart board but is only accessible during dinner which is 6: 30pm to 9pm. The number they leave for you to contact in case of inquiries or emergencies just goes to voicemail. There are holes in the walls, visible water damage. As well there is an empty elevator shaft which we were told was just down for maintenance. If you have any garbage you are supposed to take it with you when you leave or else you may be charged for it. If this establishment wants to make any profit, I’d recommend stop printing the magazines nobody reads and actually hiring staff. My boyfriend and I were supposed to stay for two nights but we left after our first day because we didn’t want to play a guessing game about being served dinner.

The resort looks and sounds like it would be wonderful, however the customer service is lacking - and that's an understatement. A staff member of the resort called my mother less than a week prior to her reservation (which had been confirmed a month in advance) to tell her that it was necessary to reschedule as there was some kind of issue with staffing at the resort. The woman refused to provide a refund, despite my mother being unable to re-book her vacation days to accommodate the RESORT! In addition to this, when I called to inquire about the situation, the woman was obviously impatient and refused to even talk about cancelling or rebooking until the following week. She denied having refused a refund to my mother, and seemed very reluctant to discuss a refund at all. If she had been polite or even apologetic for the situation my mother would have considered re-booking at the resort another time, however it's not anywhere she will be booking with or recommending to friends or family. So, now my mother has to try to move around her schedule for the resort because they will not give her the refund. We have a massive family who travels up north every summer. I will be sure to emphasize where NOT TO GO. AKA NOMI RESORT - Stop stealing people's money!

Updating review after a personal call from Elise, shedding light on some things.

Overall peaceful place to spend a weekend. Nice small resort, so never felt crowded, and the main floor always felt spa-like with essential oils and lounging areas. Updates are all beautiful, only a few things are outdated in the rooms, but nothing essential. Bed could have been more comfortable, but there were two to choose from.

My initial experience over the phone was slightly frustrating, and I was left feeling like an inconvenience when I called to ask questions about dinner reservations or check in time. If this is also your experience, don’t let it deter you, as the rest of our customer service experiences were excellent. I was assured they are working on phone interactions and it’s also high season, so calls not returned right away sometimes.

8 min walk through forest to the small beach on a quiet lake. Nice Muskoka chairs on the dock to enjoy the view. Johnny-on-the-spot for convenience at the beach, and a few other chairs with a small sandy area. Fairly weedy to swim, but beautiful view.

If looking to hike, be aware that High Falls trail not marked until you get right in the forest. We got lost, and ran into others who were also lost. Thankfully a call to Nomi front desk rescued us and set us back on track. Worth the hike to the falls, but pack your bug spray!

Price was fair (with wagjag) and food was excellent! Will be nice when they finish their updates and put in a hot tub. Def worth checking out.

I stayed here with my daughters for a mom/daughters weekend. The place is nice/clean enough, but I have a few suggestions for the management.
1. Get your liquor license!
2. You need to step it up with activities. Not enough to do on site. We did find lots to do elsewhere (hiking, tourist shops, horseback riding) You should improve your "beach" area.
3. Not enough staff. The same one lady was there the entire weekend. Didn't see anyone else. Hire staff to make up the rooms every day (they currently do not)
4. On Friday night there was only one meal choice for dinner. It was good however.
5. Mark off the frickin trails! Put up a sign for crying out loud!
6. Improve customer service. Staff never answer the phone when you are trying to arrange reservations!
7. Plant some flowers/shrubs to improve outside appearance.
It's so lovely and quiet here. But lacking in so many ways. Too bad.

They are not ready for customers yet. At least not groups. The kitchen was extremely slow. They really need to work on their timing. The food was good but it took us an hour before we were served our dinner and everything was preordered a week before we got there. No drink options were offered to us, only lemon water was given. They advertise a luxury restaurant but it took about an hour between courses and we were never even offered coffee while we were waiting for our dessert. Our bill also took too long to get brought to us. The wait staff was nice but they need to work on predicting their customers needs. The place has potential but I just don't think it is ready quite yet to be "luxury dining". If they survive I hope to try them again in a few years.
