It's a good place to workout alone (I haven't tried group classes or the pool). Other members are mostly polite. The fitness equipment is generally clean and functional. The staff are prompt and helpful. The changing rooms are clean.

The monthly fee is good value, but you get what you pay for: the building is pretty old and the services are basic.

This gym doesn't care about the privacy and safety of women. They let men pretending to be women into the women's bathroom, even though there are always children in there changing. YOUR PRIVACY AS A WOMEN MEANS NOTHING HERE BECAUSE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MENTALLY ILL MEN. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM IF YOU WANT A MAN STARING AT YOU WHILE U CHANGE ALWAYS!

Clean facilities, good amount of equipment, and most staff members friendly or at the very least professional. I would give this location a 5 star if not for the manager Jay, he’s abrasive and aggressive and any interaction I’ve had with him leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I know everyone has bad days and I’d understand if it was just 1 or 2 times but he has a consistently bad attitude and sets an absolutely horrible example for the rest of the staff. A truly pathetic excuse for a gym manager.

Newly renovated. It was long overdue.

Convenient as it's right off Highway 401. The TTC is right at the door. Parking is harder during Peak Times.

Great Karate Program at this Location with awesome Karate Instructors. Good Fitness Programs.

Great Summer and March Break Camp Program at all YMCA Centers with early drop off and later pick up.

Awesome pool and they do have a great Swimming Program for both kids and Adults.

Do your homework when scouting for a Gym. Many Gyms offer Tours and Trial Passes. Take advantage of the Tours and Free Passes. Take your time in choosing a Gym. Find one that is right for you and right for your wallet.

All YMCA do offer Membership Assistance to those that qualify.

They teach very good and the basketball lessons are great and swimming lessons are pretty hard but i can still do it
23 February 2023 14:50
My partner has been calling and emailing this location multiple times to get information about adult swimming lessons. He is not receiving any useful information and is often told that the info on the website is not accurate. Very disappointing as I had a positive view on the YMCA prior to this.
05 February 2023 14:18
They close at 10 pm, but members cannot get out from the main exit after 9 pm.ridiculous and inconvenient
20 December 2022 3:38
Great staff. Jay, Daniel, and Ella are amazing representations of the YMCA and its core values. It makes going to the gym much better by having them there. Appreciate you guys.

I am so grateful to Daniel McLarty, the Director of Sales for all his help and assistance. I brought a new family who had just arrived from the Ukraine to register at the YMCA……Daniel was so warm and welcoming; he took the time to make the family feel so welcome and supported, he truly reflected a sense of community and belonging.
05 October 2022 11:51
Really bad experience, my kids got fever and her mental status was very poor during summer camp, and the teacher even did not notice or inform me.
04 October 2022 5:33
Been going for 9 years. It's a great gym that has everything you need, and the hours are flexible. We especially like the heated training fitness pool. Parking situation is really bizarre, the underground parking option is great but the spaces are so tight. Calling for information is a nightmare though, you get stuck in this loop where no one picks up the phone.
01 September 2022 13:48
Read most of the 1 star reviews. Hilarious how bad a place can be perceived by a few which will skew the perception as a whole. I've recently gone on my fitness journey and I've not many complaints.

The parking complaint should not be an issue. There's underground parking with a lot of spaces. Coming from the 401 is the best since on Bayview you can turn left and go straight to the parking.

I only come here to go to the gym and table tennis. Gym equipment is aplenty and they load the wipes pretty frequently. Pretty much all the machines are functional (the bare minimum for a good gym lol) and there's enough redundancies so you should be able to work your targeted muscle groups even if it's crowded (although it's annoying af when you see lazy guys on their phones all the time with long af rest periods, but I expect that to be the norm of every gym lol)

I had to withdraw my son from one of the four weeks that i enrolled my son for the summer day camp. I did it in error. I initially enrolled him for 4 weeks and wanted to remove 1. I had to PAY 30$ to do so. Once I saw that I wanted to remove him from all of it but that would have been another 90$. This made me sick. I don't trust them now. What do I do? Pay a total of 120$ to withdraw or send him? How terrible. I have to send him this time but never again.
13 June 2022 15:22
Poor management, very poor service. Staff are not friendly nor knowledgeable. Seems as though they forget what sector they're working in (Service)! Facilities are not available for use for days. Not acceptable! We pay, we want service. You don't provide the right service, we move to another, better gym for more affordable rates.
08 June 2022 14:54
We are a family of 6 including 4 kids aged 4-12, had been members since 2009. Our kids programs such as swimming and karate were $5 registration fee per child on top of the family membership. We were shocked by the new fee structure as we tried to activate our membership last week since the pandemic. YMCA now has a new fee structure that charges separate kids programs fees on top of the family membership that has now increased swim lesson fees by 900% and here’s the kicker time slots have dropped from 45 minute sessions to 30 minute sessions. Who ever came up with these ridiculous fee schemes forgets that YMCA is supposedly a non profit organization. They sure don’t operate like one in regards to family membership fees. I won’t support this organization that doesn’t value loyalty.
01 April 2022 4:42
It’s been almost two weeks that I joined YMCA and inside this centre the workers are not respectful there is a guy who is doing membership management he seems respectful and good a guy but there is another guy inside this building, and idk his name exactly but he works upstairs and he doesn’t respect people (he literally told me that he doesn’t respect me and my friends and he is really racist as he also mentioned (idk where do you come from) and I don’t respect that and you and the was about to attack me and he was attacking me with his aggressive conversations, also he wanted to fight and attack me
09 March 2022 11:33
Full of Karens period! Super disappointing experience, this gym offers literally nothing but charge you for 5 star service, this bald guy from the stuff is the worst person to face with ever super rude customer service!
09 March 2022 6:02
The only gym in Canada that requires you to wear mask while working out.the African American guy at the front desk talks with customers like he is the owner of the gym and he is very rude.
06 October 2021 7:58
This YMCA has some of the better equipment for gym goers. While sharing top quality equipment with people unfamiliar with lifting can be annoying it’s better than doing the same with garbage stuff at GoodLife or PlanetFitness. Staff are generally nice and most negative reviews are from people too up their own holes to see their own faults. Now the parking situation is my main contention even when it was fully open it was still not enough. Bayview village has tons of parking but it is inconvenient so 4 not 5
22 September 2021 15:20
Their website shows day passes are available. Arrived to workout and told they are no longer selling day passes due to covid capacity limits. I can understand having such a policy, my 1 star rating is only for the incorrect communication on the YMCA website.
30 August 2021 0:29
Monthly membership is too expensive for what they offer. There are no group classes, the equipment is limited, the underground garage is closed, the outside parking is not too big, the pool is closed.
14 November 2020 11:28
This place took my monthly payment without my permission even though there is a pandemic outbreak affecting our lives gravely. So, I went there to ask for the refund. The guy who was at the front desk said that there is not refund. It means that I have to go there as a mandatory action because I paid already, although I am not feeling safe going there. On the other hand, I saw some of the employees walking around without wearing a mask.
I won't recommend this place. People are not friendly at all and never answer the phone. In addition, they are not taking in consideration any security measures.
12 October 2020 20:23
Covid health and safety implementation good the problem is the 1-2 guys walking around in condition room with no mask violation with no one telling them to put on or leave
Maybe put membership on hold and wait a few weeks to see how it goes.
26 June 2020 3:59
Oof, my experience here was quite, quite mixed.

As a young lad, I can't tell you the countless times I came here to attend Summer, March Break, and Winter Break camps; which were all quite well organized and fun. As I grew older, I started to volunteer at the location, putting in multiple hours helping out in the multiple programs that are available. Overall, it was fun. _then_.

Sigh, okay, I got a monthly membership. Expected a lot because of my past childhood here. Some of my closest friends got their memberships too. Let's break it down.
- The Swimming Pool: Very deep, however, the lanes were often filled and I just ended up bumping into random people a lot. Organization by the staff on duty could be better. But hey, it's a public pool.
- Training rooms: Okay, first, you guys need to know that there are 2 gyms. One mini one near the main entrance, and one main one in the sub-level 1 basement. The mini one has equipment such as bikes and rowing machines, while the basement had the full 'loadout', with connected rooms for Squash and Badminton. Both places were okay, they both closely resembled an organized gym.

Now, the reason why I deducted a star.
The staff.
Some of the staff are often impatient, and won't do their jobs half of the time. Not all of the staff are bad of course, but there are those few 'bad apples'

Until the staff quality improves, 4 stars. Good establishment overall however.
19 June 2020 0:50
One of the best place to go for exercise. Staff very cordial, helpful and always smiling and eager to assist.
31 May 2020 16:27
Been coming here for about 15 years
Men's club has it all. Private gym, sauna, steam, hot tub,
Grooming station, coffee and tvs
2 pools and overall very good faclities
17 May 2020 9:03
The staff are all very friendly, great service. Volunteers take extra steps to offer you the services they have, and I found this place very helpful for my future needs.
17 April 2020 14:08
Good and bad. For one thing their equipment is very good and they have a wide variety of classes to choose from, for another thing the layout makes no sense so getting lost is a given and for whatever reason there is ALWAYS an aquafit class going on so the recreational pool only has these tiny little windows where you can swim for 50 minutes (if you're lucky) before the next aquafit class.

I really just want a gym where I can pop in and start swimming. I don't want to have to arrive at a specified time to avoid getting stuck in an aquafit class.
11 April 2020 20:46
I ended up asking other people in the changing rooms where I could find anything because I kept on getting lost. The place is a maze and no one shows you where to go. Front staff are friendly and give helpful advice. They should maybe try putting signs on the walls or even in the elevators saying which floor has what.
10 April 2020 14:13
Lovely volunteers. I had an amazing time and so did my child. A volunteer named Nasrim taught my kid how to dunk
13 March 2020 14:44
Staff are very friendly and looking to help your every needs if necessary. Equipment is good and the people there are usually very friendly and helping. The change rooms are okay, however the sink counters are usually covered in water. The facilities are kept quite clean and in good condition. The swimming pool is standard and there is always a lifeguard there. Parking is usually a problem as once it gets busy, the underground parking lot is usually full. The parking spots are usually pretty tight, as there is barely enough space to open the door. All in all, it’s a good gym to go to and has enough facilities for everyone.
07 December 2019 11:04
Be aware that YMCA isn't a safe place! I put my personal belongings in a locker at the local, YMCA. After returning to locker room, the lock appeared to be cut open. My cloths were thrown on the floor. My Iphone XR, my debit card, credit card and one pair of earphones were missing.
14 November 2019 11:11
Very nice facility. The staff are always friendly and the workout machines are very good. The have a wide range of classes and activities for kids. My whole family enjoys coming here and we have met a lot of really nice people.
27 October 2019 10:18
I wanted to try the free week pass before deciding which gym I’m going to take a membership. Clearly the service isn’t here. Nobody explained you anything, I didn’t know where to go, how it’s working! When you go there for the first time it’s kind of a maze! I came with my partner, fortunately he went there few times already but still he didn’t remember of everything, and I needed someone to show me around or at least give me explanations of the place. Change rooms looked dirty due to old furnitures. Staff in general seem quite nice but the ones at the desk to « register » for the weekly pass not really. I didn’t enjoy it. I still want to try one class to be able to compare with other fitness gym but seriously if you are looking for qualities, it isn’t here. Not that much machines, a lot of old furnitures.
I have to say that they have kids rooms so it’s perfect if you have a family you can really enjoy your time with your kids.
The pool was really cold. I went by mistake to the warm pool because there wasn’t any signs at all! We chased me by saying « you can stay here only if you see a lifeguard ». He wasn’t rude but for sure I would prefer a notice which mentioning how it works so nobody would need to tell me that.
Even for going out when I was done my practice! How do you do? Which way should you take? Then the door closed behind you you couldn’t even go back. You have to walk back to the desk for finally going to an exit which was closed so you walked all in the underground parking even if your car wasn’t parked here. Clearly, I didn’t find them helpful at all!
30 September 2019 6:58
The staff aren't too friendly but the gym equipment - post renovation - is amazing. 6 power racks with bumper plates and platforms.
20 July 2019 1:02
For many, the facility of YMCA itself may be OK to some people, but the camps hosted there are something else.

In this case, the leadership camp was and will forever be the worst one I have seen and experienced in a very, very long time. Just take notes before signing your kid to leadership camps hosted here at all.

First, the councilors and staff there are extremely rude, ignorant, and disrespectful. They have huge egos and attitudes, and take advantage of their superiority as councilors and staff. When a camper makes a mistake or does something wrong, the staff punishes them and the rest of the kid's group as well. The staff makes the CRAZIEST assumptions and believes it to be true (though it really isn't.at all). They also humiliate their campers in front of other camps, and (remembering that I couldn't get this out of my head) LAUGHED at the campers (along with their rude and horrible staff friends) as well. The staff created such an uncomfortable environment for so many campers in a week and a half, that when it came to the overnight trip, a few of my friends went out. The councilors and staffed are also very two-faced, and the director does nothing about it. They also take their frustration out on their campers, but even that could be the least of its worries.

Second, as someone who paid good money to participate in this camp, I realized it hasn't taught me or my friends any actual leadership skills at all, but instead gave the staff a chance to endlessly and endlessly humiliate everyone in the camp. When we pay a few hundred dollars to learn something, you should give the time to teach us the skills for it (and because the money is partially for you [staff] as well). We paid the terrible staff our money and to what use? For them to take advantage over us? For them to yell at us, disrespect us, and humiliate us? Many of us are trying to complete this camp or course, so that it may benefit us in the future and all the staff could do is laugh. Disgusting.

Finally, the staff expected their campers to trust them after all the things they done. Campers would have to stay overnight to finish off their course so that they could volunteer later on. However, said above, they continued to make such an uncomfortable environment from all the messed up things they done, that it was impossible to trust them, and gave a clear vision of what else they could do. I remembered one of the councilors (who's camp name was Sprout), was by far the most rude, disrespectful, and toxic person I have seen growing up (which was probably why they used fake names so they wouldn't be exposed).

Overall, this camp was just straight-up awful. It gave one of my friends a lot of anxiety and me a lot of anger to share. Before you sign your kid up for this camp, just acknowledge what was said above before you enter, and really ask if your kid wants to go. I highly suggest to find another leadership camp that embraces the qualities of campers instead of looking down on them and thinking that every child signed up for the camp has a problem. This camp is really just too late for improvements. I can say that I'm glad I won't be touching surfaces with this camp or place again.

YMCA is the best place to exercise then city of Toronto community center
You can swim anytime at YMCA
I'm a table tennis instructor at YMCA as a member (not a volunteer or staff) see me in the hallway
10 June 2019 1:27
A lot of the Instructors are volunteers, they are very nice.

Regular staff at the desk, most are ok, some are hostile. If you need anything from main office, (email or phone), be prepared to be put on hold for a while.

Facilities are clean.

Parking is a major problem though.

For popular classes, there is no good sign up system. I signed up and my spot was still taken.

Staff at desk won’t be able to help.

For the $ you pay, can probably get better service at other gyms.
10 May 2019 10:18
Very good place.i love it, and the workers very nice and polite.the washrooms clean and everywhere clean.
10 May 2019 8:11
Nicolas at the desk has attitude.so rude.
Called main office to complain.got put on hold. I was the 12th caller.gave up after 30 minutes
Tried to email.and was emailed back a standard cut and paste email that they are busy.will be dealt with in near future.
Some staff are volunteers, can’t blame them since YMCA is using them to cut $.
No parking spots unless you are going super early, mid day or very late at night.
Just cancelled my membership
17 April 2019 0:36
It's a great place, a lot of activities, sport and dance classes. At any time of the day you can find what to do! Amazing instructors in dance, yoga and arriba classes. I like this place.
25 December 2018 9:27
Love the Y but parking is horrible + a lot of people at this location do not know how to park. Other than that this location is great!
20 October 2018 18:07
I was a bit hesitant to try out this YMCA location because of the bad reviews. Contrary to what some say below, the staff and patrons have been very friendly and very helpful during the last couple of weeks I started to attend. It has a great community feel with lots of options for fitness. There are classes everyday, all day which are a lot of fun, especially Arriba. It gets quite busy so you have to line up before going inside the classes and then, space can be a bit tight. The excercise machines also seem to be a bit cramped for space. I haven't used the pool yet, but members I I talked to seem to really enjoy that part of the facility. The recently renovated change rooms are very clean and in excellent condition. Parking does seem to be lacking like others have commented on, but subway access is right at the front door. Overall, if you are looking for an accessible, friendly place for exercise, at a fairly reasonable price (pay month to month), this might be the place for you.
25 September 2018 3:24
Great place lots of options, love running room, gym is clean and has everything you need to get fit, pool needs little more organization as it’s always full and recreational lanes are supper tight, friendly staff, parking is horrible and way to tight someone scratched my vehicle first day and when I asked to view cameras they gave me a run around and nobody got back to me as promised in the email. But I do enjoy working out and running here. Prices for adults are about $67 monthly tax in. They offer upgrade I think for extra $45 range monthly which if I remember give you towels, sauna, jacuzzi and small gym.
13 July 2018 1:57
I wouldn’t even give them one star. My b/f and I took my niece swimming today. The first two lifeguards were great. I was sitting on the side of the pool. When the second lifeguard came on-duty after ten minutes he came over and started yelling at me for “filming” which I wasn’t. (There was however a couple with the lifeguards before who had a baby and they literally had a mobile in the pool, but nothing was said to them) when I said I wasn’t filming he began to yell more, telling me I was threatening his job, threatening the safety of everyone in the pool and that I needed to read the rules and needed to move to the waiting area ASAP or he was calling security. I was completely shocked at his tone and manner of approach as the two other lifeguards and multiple lifeguards doing swimming lessons had no issue with where I was sitting.

We had went in on a one time trial, and I can definitely say will never be returning.
09 July 2018 23:23
This YMCA has newly renovated change rooms and currently they are working on the weights, training and treadmill area. They have been great in keeping the place as orangized as they can with the limited space they currently have for renovations but they have also been keeping their customers updated by emails. The only down fall I think is the parking space.its very tight and there's not enough room to open a car door let alone a van or truck door. I'm sure there have been several dents in many cars.
