Northlea Elementary and Middle School

In around 1957 my 9 year old brother who had done nothing wrong was marched into the dark projector room at Northlea Public School by Ms Hincks. Principal Wright joined her at which time he beat this 4’4” 60 lb boy on the little palm of his hands with a heavy leather “strap” designed for this purpose. My brother learned a serious lesson that day. He learned to never say another word in that class that year and he never made eye contact with this evil woman again. She taught him that adults could hate him. He remembers this event with clarity to this day.
