I went to emergency on Christmas Day - Dec. 25,2023, with a broken ankle & was taken care of by the BEST & kindest staff ever. It took them less than half an hour!
THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH

I am a recent lung transplant recipient - UHN Toronto. I was having difficulty breathing. Not wanting to travel downtown to TGH I opted to go to NHH Hospital - Cobourg. Dr. Bishop was my attending physician - he did the usual tests & CT scan. He discovered a few pulmonary emboli in my new lung. I was admitted and stayed for 8 days. When I was discharged I was in better shape than I was the whole 6 months post surgery. A constant tight chest pain I had since my transplant was gone! The staff on my floor - 2B was exemplary. To mention a few: RN's - Lindsay, Sarah, PSW's - Bryce, Randy, Mariela, Sara, My apologies if I forgot names. They were all very efficient and kind. No task was too menial. Thank you for making my stay memorable.

My spouse was a patient and they caused her so much anxiety and even several anxiety attacks and treated her as if she wasn’t a person. I had to advocate for care for her as she wasn’t in the right mindset to worry about anything other than her reason for going. I was also treated like absolute garbage while I was there advocating on her behalf as well too. To the point where her nurse wouldn’t come back to help her. Thankfully Dr. Crawford was amazing and the best person we dealt with over several visits over the weekend. Highly recommend if your emergency care can be delayed that you seek care in Peterborough, Trenton or Belleville that you go there instead because this hospital will cause you nothing but grief and will make you feel bad for advocating for yourself or the person you’re with for care. There’s no option for a 0 or negative rating but if I could I’d review this with a 0 or -5 rating because of how horrible this institution is. I’m disgusted by the treatment and undo stress and anxiety that was caused to both me and my spouse. I’m sure when I get a callback from filing a complaint against them that l’ll get the standard wrap around about it. But I also went in a month ago for chest pains and was never seen after more than 10 hours. But even though they’re government funded we the average people deserve the care and compassion that we pay for in our tax dollars and unfortunately that care and compassion isn’t present at Northhumberland Hills Hospital.

I have cyclic vomiting syndrome so I’m a frequent flyer in the hospitals throughout ontario since I do a lot of traveling. First time at Northumberland and it was amazing. First time I have had to explain my illness to the Nurses and doctors. They were kind and caring and listened to me. It was also decently fast as we were there around noon on a Wednesday and discharged after 5.

Husband went there with chest pain and dizziness. Blood pressure was 230/99. As we sat and waited it got worse and worse. He said the pain was unbearable and his arms went numb. I told the clerk and she said to sit back down in triage.

The triage nurse said his ECG was fine when they took it over an hour before so to sit and wait our turn.

So we left. As we left to go to Markham hospital, the triage nurse laughed at us. As we entered the Markham hospital, they rushed him in to stop a heart attack.

Don't go here unless you have too. Cardiac is not a laughing matter

Great experience with my daughter who had a fractured arm. We were triaged quickly, had an x-ray and saw the NP for a temporary cast. Everyone we met with was friendly, kind and thorough.

My mother was visiting from France, went twice to emergency for extreme pain going down the leg, both time she wasn’t able to see a doctor but just a nurse practitioner. She was prescribed pain medication but no imagery to see exactly what was happening.
She end up going back to France earlier to seek real medical assistance and turns out she had multiple broken vertebrae due to osteoporosis (her osteoporosis condition was shared with the nurse)

The bill came and it is $720 per visit (so X2) for a complete misdiagnosis.

Die in the streets before you risk them killing you. Was told by a doctor in bowmenville this is a clown college.

I have know at least 10 people that have almost or have, died in that waiting room.

Worst wait, always dont fully know whats wrong its like they don’t know or dont care to or find out, could be in awful pain but your still waiting 30 minutes to hour or hours for even triage and after that u will be waiting additional 1 hour or more hours to be seen just for them to not do as u hoped and wished, if you want a slightly shorter wait and better help then i would go to Peterborough or kingston dont waste time in cobourg, its as if they dont care and want u to just see ur family dr and I understand priorities first but if its a simple stitch? Why am i waiting 4 hours

We were in the ER for 6 hours, it would have been less had there been enough doctors but that’s not the fault of the hospital. The staff there are unfailingly polite, professional and kind. Being in Emerg is the worst of times, nobody wants to be there. People get huffy, old people with dementia cry out “nurse, nurse, nurse’ and time again one of the extremely busy nurses would comfort the gentleman, speak to him politely and with not a whit of the frustration I think I would have been feeling.
I hope I never have to go back there but, if I do, I know I’m going to a place where everybody is doing their level best even during the busiest of times. The doctors, nurses, phlebotomists, cleaners—-ALL of them, they exhibit a standard I wish I’d encountered at other hospitals during frightening events. Thank you.

Nurses and doctors were amazing and in a positive mood. They got me in and out in reasonable time with much better care than I expected. (No offense)

Incompetence incompetence incompetence is all I can say. Worst emerge I've ever been to. Been in and out for a few days. Being told plan of action from one nurse then told a completely different from the next. They don't know how to communicate. Our health care system is disgusting!

Came to ER this morning with a lingering illness. Was triaged and had bloodwork done within 20 minutes of arriving. Met with doctor about 10 minutes after that. Total time from beginning to end was under 2 hours. All the staff were very attentive and polite. Extremely happy with care received at Northumberland Hill Hospital.

Lol these guys are brutal, we have a kid who’s extremely sick and they let 3 other couples go before us. I wouldn’t recommend anyone coming here… terrible service.
