I was unhappy with my purchase and tried to return the machine for a refund only to be told that they had a "no return" policy. In an online world this is antideluvian. Word to the wise - always check the return policy before buying anything online

Just had my 34 year old Elnita serger serviced at Nova on Ottawa Street- it now runs smooth, quiet, perfect tensions just like new! Friendly, knowledgeable staff and clean store, with lots of products and machines to think about "future projects".

I own a home based sewing business and have now purchased 4 nachinesin past 3 years. Industrial Juki, blindstitch. Multistitch sewing machine and now a serger. There prices usually cannot be beaten. They honor their warranties. I would buy another machine from them when needed.

I go online and check an item. Maybe add it to my cart. Go back a few days later to buy, after contemplating the purchase, and the price has just suddenly gone up 60% This has happened a few times for me, even once on a high end sewing machine.

Be sure to note the price when you look at an item online. Even if you don’t add it to your cart.

I had a problem with my sewing machine and they gave me great advice on how to make my machine run like new again. All for free with a friendly smile.
They also have a huge selection of thread for probably the lowest price in Hamilton. Same applies to their machines on display. Simply the best in the area.
Also, the store is clean and smells nice.
I bought enough thread to last me at least a year.
I will definitely return to the store for my sewing needs.

Always have what I need. The thread is cheaper here than at fabric land even with their membership discount. Always have lots of notions, ribbons, ropes and cords. If you need tassels they have the best selection I have come across. This is my go to place for my sewing needs.

Took my sewing machine in for a check on a strange noise. They were helpful in determining the cause and are trying for prompt repair
Update: Sean called me to tell me my machine was repaired. It was a very short turn around time! For which I was grateful. A small fix.and now my machine is running smoothly and quietly again. Thanks for your prompt attention to my need Sean!

So I emailed them about my wife's Brother 6 needle embroidery machine and it's annual service that I forgot to do. Sean (Owner) told me to get it in first thing Monday. He said he would do his best and in 2 days, he called for pickup! Amazing service, super communication, perfect job and answered several questions about another machine. BIG SHOUT OUT to Nova Sewing.you're going to be highly ecommended!

One of the two Janome sewing feet was in backorder. She called to inform me of the already processed refund (Paypal) and sent the rest without extra shipping charges. In my second order, she promptly corrected a small error (no.of bobbins) by resending the correct item within a day. Highly recommend!

It was my first time ordering a sewing machine and had an amazing experience shopping at Nova Sewing. I actually ordered the wrong sewing machine and Sean replied quickly to my email saying it was no problem to change the product as long as the order has not shipped. Being able to get a quick reply and have the item I want gave me a lot of relief. Thank you for the excellent customer service and I can't wait to order more in the future!

I had been looking all over the US for a machine that went out of stock due to the pandemic. This machine also costs a fortune here but Nova Sewing have it in stock and sold it to me for a very good price including shipping. I am so happy with my purchase! Highly recommend if you're online shopping for a sewing machine in Canada! Really good prices, I'm so happy with my machine for the price. On top of that, I was able to call the store and speak to a real person about my order and get an update on processing and she was so kind! It also arrived earlier than expected! Absolutely would recommend!

I picked up a used Janome 10000 and it was missing the flash card. I contacted the shop for information and help and the person I spoke with was amazingly helpful! I had only a single interaction with this shop and they went above and beyond. I will be using this shop in the future for sure! Awesome customer service! One negative review from someone who seems miserable anyway, would never be enough to convince me they are not a great business. I highly recommend them!

Helpful employees and great management. I'm able to purchase everything under one roof. Although it seems like a small space it really does carry a wide variety of tools, materials and supplies. I definitely recommend this shop as a go to.

I live in Ottawa and I have been looking and looking for an embroidery sewing machine for the last 4 months but found the prices way beyond my limit.

I happen to see this company online (NOVA) and gave them a call a couple of weeks ago. Spoke to a very pleasant lady and she suggested a machine that I was looking at here in Ottawa but the price was $800 less. I asked her if she was sure of the price and she replied definitely. Told her I would get back to her.

Well today I gave them a call again and after speaking with a very nice gentlemen who went over and beyond in his explanations and suggestions that I purchased a Brother NQ3600D at a saving of $2,000 compared to the shops in Ottawa and NO SHIPPING COST.
I can't wait to get it and give it a try out. Very happy with my purchase.

I had a wonderful experience with this store. The staff that I spoke to were all helpful and kind. I had my toddler with me so I was helped to my car with my purchases. I also wound up spending less than expected so that was a bonus.

I recently had troubles making an online sewing machine purchase through Nova Sewing. So I called the store (spoke to Sue who referred the situation to Sean) and within half an hour I received an email from Nova Sewing which allowed me to complete the purchasing process.

That was on a Monday at 3: 22 p.m. On Wednesday morning at 9: 30 a.m. Canada Post dropped off my new sewing machine. I am actually shocked at the speed of this service! Because the transaction was not processed in the 'normal' way I was prepared to wait at least two weeks for the arrival of my machine.

I do not have a review on the machine as yet, but the service surrounding the purchase was beyond tremendous!

Worst consumer experience of my life! A month or so ago, I bought a new machine from Sean at Nova. It didn't work (which happens). It was defective. Although Sean states "no refunds", Canadian Law says that business owners MUST accept refunds for defective items (not just that you didn't like the colour, for example). Janome had me take my machine to a local Janome dealer and they tried to fix it for me ($96.00), but it still is not working. Sean will not give me a refund so I have a brand new machine that doesn't work and I'm out $800. Sean has bullied me and threatened me not to post on social media or he will sue me for slander and try to make me pay for his court costs. I can't believe it! Lucky for me I don't back down. Here I am posting about my experience which is NOT slander. I have emails to prove everything I am saying. DO NOT BUY FROM SEAN AT NOVA SEWING. I am heart broken about this as I am an elderly disabled woman who just wanted to improve the quality of my life. I don't have any more money to buy another new machine, so I am left in despair with a new machine collecting dust. Edit to add that Sean also falsely advertised! He said the machine was worth $1,299 new and was selling it for half price. I trusted him when I shouldn't have. It turns out that around $600 IS the regular price! So I paid full price when I thought I was going to get a good deal. Misrepresentation! False advertising! Buyer beware! (I have proof of this, too, should anyone like to see it.)

. 3/28/2019 So the Canada Consumer Protection Agency tried to help me, but Sean acted like Trump and wanted me to sign papers saying I had to take off my negative reviews, not say anything about this case, not warn others about him, then he would refund me my money. I feel I have an obligation to help others, to warn others of his business practices, so I still have no refund. If you don't want to chance this happening to you, don't buy from Sean at Nova Sewing!

I had high hopes but then quickly disappointed. I had scheduled an in-home service call for my 10 needle embroidery machine. This was done via a string of email correspondence with the owner Sean. A date and time was set. 45 minutes past the scheduled time I called the phone number indicated on the emails. A woman answered, do not recall the name. She had no knowledge of me or my appointment. It was only after I dropped the name Sean that she seemed to become invested in hearing me. I was told the number I had called belonged to the Hamilton location. She was going to look into it and call me right back. She did call back in a few minutes. I was told that there was a holdup at a previous call, my service call was not going to occur on this day and I should expect to hear back via phone or email to reschedule. At this point I can understand appointments sometimes take longer than anticipated but it is very bad business sense to not contact me to let me know. Five days later, I still have not heard anything from Nova Sewing Centre. I sent an email to followup with this.tow more days have since past and still no communication from them. I am now officially very upset!

The staff are very helpful which is super important as a mother of a new sewer. We called to research buying a sewing machine for our daughter and they spent time listening to our needs, explaining the features and even helping us figure out what we needed but didn’t know about. Purchasing over the phone was easy via PayPal and the machine will be ready for us to pick up.

Just received my Janome 1000CPX! I was a little hesitant about ordering something that pricey from across the country. Nova Sewing was amazing on making me feel comfortable, the process is easy and very safe. Shipping was super fast! I will most definitely order from Nova again without hesitance. Thank You!

Would give a zero if could absolutely no customer service skills at all unless you are going to buy a machine very much about sales and nothing else. I have gone into your store a couple of weeks ago and didn’t even get a hello from anyone of your sales staff until I went over to look at an expensive sewing machine. Which I was surprised about. I am not stupid I have poped in several times over the last several years and every time I have gone in never have I gotten even a hello or a kind word until a inklining about a sale. Last year I went into your store and Walked around and waited and waited to see if someone would come and talk to me without going to a machine well you missed out I went to another store where I felt appreciated and got what I was looking for and got treated kindly. When I came in two weeks ago I again came into you store looking to purchase another machine and again got snubbed but this time was snubbed by you the owner I know you are the owner because you sold me my first machine and I was so excited but now when I go into your store I am very saddened and disappointed that you and you staff have lost the personal touch you use to have. So no I will not be returning. I wish you the best but I thought you customers and you and you should know the truth take care

Amazing my go to store i went in for supplies. Store was clean and organized. Staff was friendly and willing to help me with my project. The girl who ordered supplies for me went above and beyond and within a few days my order had come in. It was a pleasure shopping there from start to finish.

As a small business owner who completely relies on my sewing machines Sean has been invaluable. Haven’t received my order yet, as I just completed my transaction, but dealing with Sean over the past few months has been a pleasant experience. There are so many available products for sale that it was very challenging to make a final decision, but Sean was knowledgeable and patient with me.

Very disappointed by the customer service, purchased a rowenta steam iron for over $250 and it goes in sleep mode every 8 minutes but as a quilter that’s unacceptable, and now am told they can’t help me and it can’t be returned, very POOR SERVICE will not be buying anything from them again!
