We picked up sweet little Peggy from the Oakville and Milton Humane Society a few weeks ago. Poor Peggy has had to have a leg amputated in the past and the Humane Society took her in and made sure she had the surgeries she needed.

It's clear that this Humane Society cares about their animals and took great care of Peggy as she is an Angel. Every step of the way the staff were diligent, helpful in any questions we had and made the adoption process great.

So grateful for the addition to our family!

They won't let me volunteer because I haven't been jabbed with mRNA to counter a disease with a 0.5% mortality rate.
In response to the reply below:
These "vaccines" don't provide anyone with safety or well-being. It's been admitted that they do not prevent you from catching CV-19, nor do they prevent you from passing it on to someone else. Statistics show that those who are "vaccinated" end up hospitalized way more than the unvaccinated, so good luck with all those spike proteins being manufactured by your own cells. You may end up with blood clots, heart problems, and cancer at some point (based on observations).
I'm rather glad you passed me over. This, coupled with the sea of bad reviews I see on here, shows me you people are kooks.

Picked up a dog for a rescue (to go to a foster home). Impressed with the professionalism and business during my short stay there. Andrea was awesome with the dog she was handing off to me, very thorough with food, tag, coat, etc.

The area the dogs get to go outside is very small they deserve to have more than what this shelter offers them seems more like a warehouse than a humane society

Helping animals, pets, and pet owners in times of desperate need is the greatest strength of this organization which also keeps them motivated.

I have both volunteered at and adopted (twice) from the OMHS. I work with dogs for a living, and this is hands down one of the best shelters I’ve encountered. The staff is friendly, and the quality of life of their animals is always their priority. Everyone is very knowledgeable, helpful, and advocates for education for volunteers and the public.

Adopted the sweetest boy bun, Mr. Ratburn from here. The process was easy and the staff were incredibly helpful.

You have to bless these organizations that are taking care of the animals of all kinds. DID YOU KNOW, that you can instead of donating towels to local charities and churches that you can drop off towels to the humane society? You're once cherished towels that have served you so well can also serve the animals! Many of you know this already and some don't. Something makes me feel so much better if I give it to an animal shelter. Thank you all those who volunteer and work to help our animals in need. You are amazing.

We adopted an 8-year old black cat named Astrid one year ago. This was our third time adopting through OMHS. The questions on the adoption form are thorough but help to combat misinformation about animal care, costs and protection. I spoke with Rachel and she described the personality of the cat I had chosen from her online profile (like online dating!) The covid protocols were terrific, and I was happy to be getting a cat who'd been in foster care, not a cage. They trimmed Astrid's claws on the day of adoption, sent us home with prescription cat food and a thorough medical history. My vet was so impressed that at intake she'd even had her teeth cleaned. Astrid has turned out to be an amazing cat. There was a little adjustment period, but that's to be expected with an older cat. She's the sweetest girl, who rubs noses with us, sits on the laps of all visitors and purrs whenever we pick her up. Thank you so much to OMHS for connecting us with Astrid and choosing us to be her forever family!

Just adopted a sweet little kitten from them! Rachel was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire adoption process. I would highly recommend them if you're interested in rescuing an animal. (I have been to visit other local humane societies, and unfortunately, they are not all as friendly and well organized as this one).

Two years ago I adopted a kitten named tank from here. He has become my best friend and is the cutest friend to our family. We love him with our whole hearts. Oakville and Milton humane society is an amazing place and take such good care of the pets. I remember when they did a full introduction on how to care for a cat for us, since it was our first time. I hope you guys remember Tank.

We recently adopted a 6 month old kitten through OMHS and our experience was very positive from start to finish. The staff whom we dealt with were very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. They ensured the adoption process went very smoothly. They took the time to answer all our questions and address any concerns we had. They provided us with lots of helpful information and resources, advice and suggestions. What I also really liked is that they are there to provide on-going support post-adoption, which helped to put our minds at ease. Great experience and would definitely recommend!

My dog got out this evening around 5pm. My two brothers and I went out looking for him in the neighbourhood. One of my brothers called the Oakville Humane Society to let them know, and to ask them if anyone had reported a found dog. They said no one had called but they would let us know if someone finds him. 30 minutes later, my brother's girlfriend called to check in, but they still had not heard anything. I called at 5: 48pm and spoke to Jackie in lost and found who said they did not have any reports of a found dog. Less than 10 minutes later I received a call from a woman who had found my dog and taken him to the Animal Hospital on Prince Michael drive, where they scanned him and found out our address. This amazing woman drove to our house to let us know where he was. She also told us that she tried calling the Oakville Humane Society earlier and that they refused to take him because they were "closing soon". This was 30 minutes before I called and they had told me that no one reported anything to them. They lied to me and my family about the whereabouts of my dog because they wanted to go home and decided it wasn't worth letting us know where our missing dog was. This was absolutely shocking to me that supposed "animal lovers" whose purpose is to protect animals and unite/reunite them with their owners would knowingly hold information, leaving us to worry whether or not he was safe or even alive. I would give this place 0 stars if it was possible.

In response to their reply:

I definitely trust the good Samaritan who drove to my house to let us know exactly where our dog was, over your team who has a vested interest in damage control after failing to do their job. And for the record, you never said once that you were glad we found our dog, so don't add "again" as if you actually care.

Way to edit your reply, I screenshot the original fyi.

Animal rescue and emergency assistance center. Their helpline is open 24 hours and they rescue any wildlife that is injured in accidents, all we have to do is call them and give the location.

Friendly and helpful staff, and their phone call response time was quick. A big thanks and respect to the dedicated staff here on behalf of all concerned citizens and the wildlife in Oakville)

My cat went missing. I call here and turns out he's here and they wont give him back to me and are asking for $400 in order to get MY cat back that went missing a couple days ago. And now they are putting him up for adoption. Imagine taking someones fur baby and asking for $400 in order to get him back and now he is getting put through adoption. Devastated. Especially from a company who claims they wanna help animals find a home.

I adopted Lemmy (Lemony Snicket) on Sept. 4 after a phone interview a few days prior. Lisa was professional but also very personable & friendly. I had hoped I would be able to meet Lemmy before adoption but completely understand why I couldn’t, so had to trust the staff & his Foster Home’s assessment of him. It was also very sweet of his Foster Home to send along his favourite toys so he would have some familiar toys to help him settle in here. Lemmy has low vision so I was concerned about him navigating my home & my stairs, but once he was comfortable going up & down the stairs with supervision, he now takes them @ a run & tries to race me! He is a sweet cuddle bug & I feel extremely lucky that Lisa & the OMHS staff felt he would be a great match for me & my recently passed away dog. A special thank you to Lemmy’s Foster Home for keeping him safe & loved until I was able to adopt him!
