The tasting menu here is the best deal in toronto. I don’t understand how they make money, given the ingredients and number of courses. The uni toast was the best bite of my decade. The oyster and toro were incredible. The cod and accompanying beurre blanc sauce were perfection. Service was stellar. Run, don’t walk. Oh, I didn’t even look at the a la carte but the couple beside me ordered from it and the dishes looked equally amazing. Lotsa street parking and a lot right across the street. Oh my gosh…just remembered the purple yam croquette. Possibly tied with the uni for the best bite of the 2020s

The oh my comment is too easy but it's also a fact! I loved everything about this place. The chill unpretentious vibe which I would almost expect because of how incredible the food was, the people, who were not only knowledgeable but just so genuine and friendly and appropriately present, and the food. Wow. Best sashimi I have had in years! Uni was ridiculous. I don't even think it was a conscious decision to show down to savour every bite. The oyster converted my friend into an oyster lover and made me sad that there was only one per person. Everything was high quality, fresh and so perfectly balanced. The tasting menu was the right choice in my view and I will be back for sure to share this gem with others.

Don't come here if you're really hungry. Food was nothing to write home about and the tables were a bit cramped. There are Japanese restaurants in the area with better and higher quantities of food for the same price

The best best best! We love Omai sooo much. Everything here is quality from food to service! What a gem!

It’s okay… not bad but also not good enough to do a tasting menu for sure. Nothing original or special. A regular Japanese sushi restaurant. And their menu item is very limited to the extent that the tasting menu is pretty much a small portion of each of their dishes lol. Come on chef do better and create something before doing the tasting menu. Otherwise we could just “taste” it at any other sushi restaurant.

Good food, slightly on the pricier side. Everything tasted nicely cooked and fresh. Service is great, attentive and friendly. We sat on the patio out front

Croquettes: nice and cheesy, crisp on the outside
Tomago temaki: the truffle overpowered the egg
Scallop temaki: our favorite bite
Bluefin futomaki: big pieces of tuna with freshly grated wasabi, really good
Omai futomaki: deluxe roll which are quite big

Could've done without the truffle flavor as it was quite strong that masked all the natural sense

Inside had a bar seating but felt very dark inside

Very good food and a nice atmosphere (inside and outside on patio). Service was good. Had the omakase, it was well done, good flavours and descent portions. A bit pricey but descent value relative to other set menus around town.

Top notch food and unreal service! The 10 course tasting menu was a fantastic deal at $75 (Now $85). High quality seafood and one of the best steaks I’ve ever had.

I’ve been multiple times and they have never disappointed. One of Toronto’s best. I’ll be back

We were running a bit late for our 8: 15 reservation on a Friday evening, but we actually didn't end up getting seated until half an hour later. They also had to move us to another table to accommodate a party of four, but they did warn us ahead of time, and they comped our first round of drinks, which was nice of them.

We were hoping to do the tasting menu because we really wanted the uni toast (which they ran out of) but they said most of the tasting menu items were gone, and we had to order a la carte. So if you're looking to do the tasting menu as well, make sure you get an earlier reservation. We ended up ordering a few items:

-Caviar oyster - the oyster was fine. I liked the hot sauce in the little bottle that it was served with

-Blue fin tuna hand roll - this was really good. I liked the fried shallots it was topped with. It was a nice change from the typical green onion

-Salmon hand roll - this was great as well. I recently started liking ikura, so that was a nice touch

-Flat iron wagyu - this was probably the worst dish of the night. It came smothered in some sauce, reminiscent of the teriyaki kitchen entrees you'd get at a sushi takeout restaurant. It masked the taste of the beef, which makes me wonder about the quality and if it was even wagyu at all

Maybe my experience would have been difference had I gotten to try the tasting menu. But it's hard to judge when menu items are limited. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back though.

Service was great, food was good but nothing too unique. Quality ingredients but pricy and left still hungry. More of a tasting menu if anything.

For the price I would’ve expected the food to have been better. The à la carte items were very small and the flavours didn’t wow me. The temaki didn’t use sushi rice

We came here on a Sunday night for dinner and started with two cocktails, a Shiso Negroni and Melona Bar which was honeydew flavored and was very nice and light. We had the bluefin maki, toro don which was the daily special, uni don, oyster caviar, black cod, and salmon temaki. All the items were very fresh and light. The service was attentive and the restaurant had a very nice ambiance. This is a great place for drinks and small plates and would recommend.

Excellent combination of atmosphere, food, and knowledgeable service. Went here for dinner with my girlfriend and we ended spending about 140$ but everything was worth it all, we will return to try the tasting menu for sure. Highly recommend for enthusiasts for Japanese cuisine!

High-quality ingredients and top of the notch service! My friends and I wanted to check this place out on Sunday after shopping, but we did not have a reservation. However, we did go in right when they opened (5pm), so they had a table we could sit at for about an hour 30 min before we would have to leave. Be sure to have a reservation if you are planning on going during peak times as seating is VERY limited!

We got the omai futomaki to share, and it was delicious! The futomaki had a shrimp tempura inside that was still crispy, which is not common. One bad thing was that it wasn't rolled very well because some of the pieces fell apart easily (even with advanced chopstick skills).

My friend and I also got a chirashi don, and my other friend got an uni don. The rice was perfectly seasoned, and the sashimi were so fresh (ikura was my favorite).

One thing to note is that the portions are a little bit on the smaller side. Normally, we are satisfied with what we get at other high-end sushi restaurants, but we were still very hungry after eating here.

Service was also on point! One of the waiters heard my friend drop her chopstick and immediately brought her a new one even before we asked for one.

Definitely recommend giving this place a shot, and we will be going back to try their tasting menu!

Wonderful sushi. The futomaki are great but out of the two the omai futo is the better one. Every hand roll was amazing too but the uni and tamago were my favorite. The restaurant is simple and easy to miss from the outside but the vibe is welcoming inside.

My favourite restaurant in Toronto! Everything on the menu is delicious, you can’t go wrong. Tasting menu is a great way to try everything but ordering everything you want separately is just as good. You must get the Omai futomaki!

Small and cozy but vibey spot. Love that it’s not too dark or too loud in here like so many other restaurants.

The salmon dip and futomaki was SOOOO amazing! Love the vibe inside, especially the bar seats if you’re on a date or just with one other person!

Pretty average. Certainly compared to the expected quality for sushi in Toronto.
We ordered the tasting menu. Food quality was slightly above average. However, this was ruined by the bad sake served in a wine glass for some reason the service was good, but chiefs were not friendly for a party sitting at the bar. The atmosphere was average.
Overall, it is a decent place but commands a price tag above its punching class.

Came here with a group of friends for my birthday and had a great time! Food was amazing and service was great. Would definitely come back again!
