Amazing food, amazing service. I almost ate the plate lol. I ordered the spicy chicken bowl, it was so flavourful and mouth watering. I would definitely make this a regular stop.

Had the bulgogi on rice, the beef was delicious. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

This place is overrated, The food was trash. I ordered spicy BBQ chicken, it was too greasy, all I can taste was oil. They also add sprouts which made the taste awful. I expected fried rice which most places do with this price tag but it was just plain boiled rice. They will also give one kind of watery soup with the dish, I took one sip and had to throw it away.

Honestly I did not know what to expect from the lack luster sign but omg that is some of the best food I have ever eaten in my life.

This place really lives up to the reviews! The bulgogi was really yummy and the quality of the meat shined through. The kimchi has a great zing to it. Definitely one of the better korean fusion places I've been to! The spicy bbq chicken wasnt very spicy but not bad.

Small place but great food! Their service is pretty good as well. Bulgogi was delicious as well as the korean meatloaf bowls. Would come again, the portions are filling which is what I want in a place!

My family has been eating at On the Rice for months now and we absolutely love it. Everything we have ordered is amazingly good and fresh. Spicy but not too hot and so tasty. They always set the expectation on how long the food will take and are usually right on time. Thank you for never disappointing!

Good for what it is, a fusion of two cultured foods and they do it they don't boot you off WiFi ever either it's a Hotspot. Bless‍️

BEST Korean and Japanese food i had in awhile i can literally eat here all the time-usually order from skipthedishes but it was even better dining in-never disappointed!

Please do not eat here. I found hair mixed in with the chicken and in the salad. I want a refund. I'm absolutely disgusted. Please go elsewhere.

This place lives up to everything other reviews say. These people are just amazing cooks, plain and simple. Their bento boxes are a great way to try out much of their amazing food. There is even something to be said about the salad freshness.

The staff were dismissive and not very friendly. Average food that was bland, tasteless and white-washed. The ramen and noodles tasted like they were watered down. Don't know what the hype is.

Incredible! Just had the Bulgogi and it was absolutely delicious. Came with some miso soup, and served with rice and veggies. Loved the garlicky sauce on top too! I'll definitely be back!

This place is such a great find. A gem. Great food, lots of selection and an incredibly friendly staff. My kid is hooked on their bulgogi so I grab takeout on my way back from work regularly. Their garlic sauce is the best around!

Love their Bento boxes. Good mix (rolls, veggies, salad, rice miso soup, esp like the kalbi one). Reasonable price and delicious!

Have been wanting to try this spot for a whilee! And it did not disappoint. Everything was super good and lived up to the hype, excited to try all other items on the menu! Perfect takeout for picnic in the warmer weatherrr. The torched salmon roll and bulgogi on the rice are a MUST.

Okay… it might sound like I’m bashing the place, but quite the opposite.

Wanted to try something different around the area. Just another lazy day that I don’t want to cook at home. The name sounded catchy, so I thought I visit.

First impression… from the outside I thought it was some old beat down place that might not be very sanitary. I was wrong, you can see into their kitchen, though it wasnt very bright, it didn’t look dirty.

No idea what I was gonna get, so I asked for recommendation. They didn’t give me one, they just said oh the rice is a popular choice and whatever meat you want. Boy, that lead me to 2 things, either they are very confident that everything is good or everything is meh and they don’t care.

Okay… I ordered, got home, so I asked for no onions and they screwed that up. However… when I actually ate it, yum… taste like … home cooked mom’s food. Yeah, that’s right, a little taste of home.

Half way through my meal, yeah, I was definitely getting full. They didn’t cheap out in the meat, you actually get a fair portion of meat versus rice.

So conclusion?
A very typical mom and pop shop feeling, a place I am very comfortable to go to often to support over corporate giants dominating the everyday people.

Food taste?
It’s not a world class, but I like it, enough to see myself go back commonly. I would say 8/10

Price?
Yeah it’s not expensive, it’s about the price of a McDonald’s meal, but you get soup. Healthier and imo, you actually get more.

I was really excited reading the reviews for this place, and eager to try. IMHO it did not live up to the hype. It was okay. I'd give it 3.5 stars if that was an option.
First, the staff are very nice and friendly. Big plus there. I had the spicy pork which seemed to be the most popular choice. It was okay. Far too much sauce IMHO, I scraped a lot of it off before eating. If I ordered again, I'd get it on the side, or not at all. The pork was okay. Not as spicy or flavourful as I had hoped. The grilled vegetables were a nice touch, I appreciated the grilled flavour, but I had two huge pieces of almost raw cabbage that detracted a little bit. The beef dumplings were okay. First one I bit into had a bone fragment.not a big deal. Taste was okay. I might try a couple more dishes to be fair, as it wasn't bad.just didn't match my expectations. Japchae and Bibimbap would be on my list next.

I've been wanting to try this place based on the reviews for a little while and now that I have I'm definitely coming back! Lovely owners and delicious Korean food. I got three lunch special items: bulgogi (really good), spicy pork (even better), and the "burning yam" roll (also very very good) which is basically like a torched salmon roll but subbed with yam, so it's vegetarian but tastes just as good! The garlic mayo on the meat dishes is such a nice touch. Almost reminds me of shawarma but with Korean food! Best of both worlds.

Undoubtedly one of THE BEST restaurants in Ontario.not just Newmarket! Not even kidding. My family and I drive all the way from Scarborough just to eat at On The Rice. Their food is AMAZING. The beef bulgogi and the spicy pork is our favourite. The meat is tender and delicious, their vegetables have that yummy grill flavour and are super crunchy, their portions are very generous, and their prices are reasonable. Their service is excellent - always warm, inviting and attentive! They never miss a single detail of your order and are happy to serve you. I always look forward to eating On The Rice! This is a great place! The owners are really nice, and the food is cheap! I really recommend coming here.

An interesting restaurant that serves dishes that seem to be familiar but different. The on the rice dishes come with cooked vegetables and garlic sauce which makes the dish taste almost like Lazeez in its sauce. The yam fries is tempura yam sticks which go well with the sauce they provide. All in all the meal was tasty and leaves you satisfied.

Really tasty. Be ready to wait a little for food though, always takes 20-30 for me. Worth the wait.

Smells awesome when open the lid! Meatloaf is a little bit dry but the texture is firm. I like it.more garlic is preferred. My friend’s order Spicy BBQ chicken is also very good. Very generous sauce go well with rice.if u like curry don’t forget to try the chicken katsu

Great food at great prices. All the dishes - and I've tried a few now - are really well prepared, very fresh and consistent. The lunch specials are a great deal. Definitely my new favourite restaurant in Newmarket.

Very good food and very kind staff. I personally would have preferred more rice and less vegetables though, otherwise the place should be named "on the veggies" (just kidding)

We ordered Shrimp Wonton Soup, Beef Dumplings, Spring Rolls, Japche, Fried Udon w Chicken and Chicken Teriyaki.

Every dish was phenomenal! Go try this place today! We will be back. (This was our first time here)
