We have had a very positive experience dealing with OMS at Algoma Road in Ottawa. The team was very kind and professional not only in helping with product selection but in quick response times on two occasions to glitches not of their making. For example a problem with a lift chair was resolved within a few short hours … (and staff responded before regular business hours). Particular thanks to Marc, Mora and Kim.

I thought I would wait a week before posting this to see if OMS surveys their customers after home visits to see if everything went well. They don’t. What businesses don’t do that nowadays? OMS for one.

I contracted OMS to do a technician home visit to inspect and maintain our otherwise well working lift chair. I was clear in what I wanted. Make sure all bolts were still tight and lubricate all moving parts. Nothing special. No rocket science required. It wouldn’t have taken very long. This was based on recommendations coming from YouTube videos and even the chair’s manual that said you should undertake these items yearly to make your chair lasts.

The technician, while nice enough but dressed very unprofessionally, refused to do these items saying they were unnecessary and he hadn’t done it in over 20 years in servicing chairs. What kind of machinery that has moving parts do you not do this to?

Frankly, I found him lazy. But he did waste my time telling me about other customers and their chairs, which I didn’t care to hear.

A quick 15 minute visit and $100 later, he was gone. I was left feeling like OMS didn’t listen to nor meet my explicit needs. I felt ripped off by the experience.

If OMS replies to this post I won’t respond to them. They already had two opportunities to satisfy my needs but they failed on both counts. They are only addressing it now because their subpar service is being publicized.

I believe it was Kirsti and Kerri that helped me locate what I needed. Had the staff been any friendlier, I would have brought them home to dinner. The ladies were professional and pleasant to deal with. I will go back there for sure. They even suggested alternate items if I could not find what I needed.

I’ve been buying my supplies from OMS for several years. My go to person is Kirstie! She’s always upbeat, polite and very helpful. OMS is very lucky to have her on their team! Thank you Kirstie! Very much appreciated!

To be fair, my complaint is with head office, and not this particular store, but there doesn't appear to be any contact info.for head office, so I'll have to leave a review here. Belligerent and threatening collections people, without knowing the full story. I had a discrepancy with a billing issue a few months back, and it wasn't until I contacted THEM, fully explaining the situation, that they were even aware of it. I had left messages to have them contact me back, but to no avail, so I considered the matter resolved. Then suddenly, today, I received a very threatening call, demanding full payment immediately! Stay away! There are many much better alternatives available to this haphazardly managed outfit. After my experience today, I would give them zero stars it that was an option.

I called for prices on supplies, when I was told of the price for a dressing, $685.00 for a dressing (one dressing won't heal) it will help, but not heal, you need to be a millionaire to buy from them.
