I needed help figuring out a complicated assessment form. I got help from the Otip representative. She was very clear with her instructions and I got it done within 2 minutes! I would use the help feature anytime.
RTIP always answers my concerns/questions immediately. I waited less than a minute for a live voice after being directed by an automated voice. The young lady was knowledgeable and polite. Very impressed…. Once again
Your representatives are very efficient, polite and knowledgeable making my understanding of my claims problems and how to settle them much more pleasant. However your automatic answering system in French leaves much to be desired?
I always get a friendly person who goes above and beyond with any request that was made. She even made a point to call me back to confirm that my request was made.
OTIP was made the new provider several years ago for Elementary Teachers and since then it has been nothing but hassel. It is more complicated to make claims and I am often denied insurance coverage with little explanation - this has been true of my children's orthodontics and most recently allergy medications. The allergy medication you covered from 2017 - 2020, suddenly is denied as he isn't my dependent? OTIP makes me pay out of pocket for his dental and reimburses me but states he isn't my dependent for his orthodontics - which I paid out of pocket for too. I have had to call OTIP and ask why my son isn't covered when he is listed as a dependent - he is turning 10. WORSE YET: There is no longer a 'drug/prescription' claim in the pull down menu and you need to research the medication you need to see if it covered prior to filling your prescription. Then if it is covered, there isn't an easy way to make the claim. It is like OTIP has created a site that it is difficult to manage to prevent people from making claims. We are a pretty healthy family that rarely needs medication, so when we do it is frustrating how many hoops need to be jumped through. I would not recommend OTIP to anyone - Manulife was a better service provider, had an easier claim service and paid the providers diretly so I didn't have to.
I speak to OTIP representatives often and they are always friendly, helpful and navigate the website with me to help me find what I need. I also never have to wait very long to get through to someone. Overall, I am very happy to work with them over the old system we had to use. Thank you OTIP staff.

The call-back feature is so helpful when their phones are busy, and it worked well. Very professional and personable staff - Alex understood what I was asking and got the information I needed very quickly.
Waited 58 minutes to speak to an OTIP representative. I have no issues with the representatives; they work hard. I do however have an issue with management and top leadership, those responsible for inadequately staffing the call volume. Management is well aware of the expected call volume for every day, down to the hour/minute. Given that they have this information available, there is no reason that customers should have to wait more than 5 minutes; and certainly not an hour. The only explanation that a customer has to wait more than fifteen minutes is that they have absolutely zero regard and/or respect for your personal time.
For contrast. I contacted Great West Life a few minutes after OTIP. They were also experiencing a high call volume. However, their representatives answered the phone within 12 minutes - not great, but definitely in a much more reasonable and respectful time than OTIP. Speaks volumes - OTIP leadership and management could not care less about you and your time!
I recently looked around for auto insurance. COVID-19, working from home, and an excellent driving record, I felt should get a better price. My questions and concerns were addressed by the customer representative at OTIP. The quote I received was compared to my current auto insurance provider. The price offered by OTIP was cheaper, even when my current provider checked what discounts can be offered to me as an affiliate with ETFO. Thanks OTIP.
Great experience. Kind, efficient and helpful. Importantly, more coverage for the same price or slightly less than my other company that keep increasing premiums.
The insurance adjusters initially thought that I was covered only for $1440/year for a prescription medication that I have to take forever. OTIP clarified that the plan should pay for 1440 capsules per year. The pharmacy contacted the adjuster and made the changes. Now, I don't have to pay an extra $5000 per year for the coverage. Thanks OTIP
I submitted my concern via email on the OTIP website. My concern was addressed in a very timely manner and the resolve was far better than I expected. The email was forwarded to the appropriate department and it was dealt with in a professional manner.
David, the representative was patient, answered all my questions and gave great customer service. I was floored by the cost and how much I would be saving with the switch. It seemed too good to be true. I recommended David to a colleague even before I confirmed my policy,
Looking for options to my current insurance coverage I began by searching online for companies that provided group plan discounts for either of two professional associations I have been a part of, namely professional engineering and education. Prior to my search I hadn't heard of OTIP. I decided to try their online quote for both my automobile and property insurance. I then did the same with a few other competitors. I spoke on the phone with all of them and for the most part, they were all nice to deal with. I ended up choosing OTIP for the following reasons. The salesperson was great, the price was very competitive, it offered all of the coverage I was seeking, and I felt comfortable in my feeling or hope that OTIP, having a large number of educators in the group, would have my back if needed. I only just completed the process of signing on. Hopefully I will never need to make a claim but if I do, I will post an update of my experiences then.
I recently added a new, additional vehicle to my policy and OTIP was able to answer all of my questions and simplify my understanding of each aspect of my policy so that I could make an informed decision of my needs and the quote that worked best for my family.
I find that large organizations tend to be impersonal and difficult to deal with, BUT this has not been my experience with OTIP. Though, they do have to deal with complex and ever changing details and regulations that must be frustrating to stay on top ob, they navigate it well. Their service reps have always been incredibly patient, extremely helpful and always professional. Two thumbs up!
