Seating waitresses lacks proper Japanese customer service, makes the restaurant seem like any other restaurant and not a real Japanese restaurant experience. I would tip more if the service was better, Miso soup is not an appetizer, it is eaten with the meal, really odd as a Japanese person.

Tried their lunch special, menu said all were assorted sushi but mostly got salmon. Food was subpar and better options available in Markham.

Excellent quality of fish for the price. Good ambience. FAST service. These are qualities that makes this restaurant 5 star worth. Need to work on bit of customer care

They have changed the ownership and chefs, all foods are tasted different from previous ownership. It depend your taste, but I can only rated them a three stars.

The interior of this resaurant was quite unique. Their sushi were pretty fresh and the sizes were ideal. Especially the dragon rolls was huge. The service was good on a busy Friday night. I did not admire their table, because was quite sticky to the touch.

Been coming here for years and happy to say that they've been maintaining the food and service quality. Their Maki rolls are very interesting and massive, definitely worth the price. You'll usually find yourself waiting in line for a seat so plan ahead.

Really fresh seafood, great quality and huge portions! At first I was thinking it's pretty pricey for a roll, but when they came out, they're huge- so big that one roll fed me.

Have always had a great experience when visiting this restaurant. The inside is pretty small, but they do have small private booths along the walls. The staff are super nice and friendly and the portions are filling. Please note that this sushi restaurant is a la carte.

Food was the Best btw

First time here at this small cozy sushi restaurant. I always like separate booths and this place has like separate rooms which provides a high degree of privacy. Before ordering when I looked at the menu found that the prices are higher than most sushi restaurants in the area. However, when the food arrived, found that there was a reason for the higher price. I have never seen a thicker/bigger piece of salmon sashimi in any other restaurants. All the other sashimi pieces are very fresh. The food quality is at the highest level.

Initially the salmon lovers roll and salmon hand rolls used to be great but now are currently filled with fried, oil soaked, bits while also lacking salmon. This may also be applicable to all of their "special" rolls at this point. Sashimi and standard rolls are fine and party platters are great but the original special rolls and hand rolls are a complete let down.

Best sushi ever had! I have been there 5 6 times already and everytime been the best experience for me. They are always busy, that's the first point to tell that business is good, and the quality is great too! The shrimp tempura literally melts in your mouth.

Best take out Sushi I have ever tasted! The only thing is, because they are so busy the service takes so long.

Honestly disappointed. Everything changed after covid. I gave 3 stars for the service. Sashimi is not bad but it’s now paper thin. Specialty rolls are not that great. King spider roll was a joke. For the price they charge, you can get a lot better at a lot of other places.

This place was amazing. Everything was fresh and colourful. The special rolls were huge. Garden salad was a 10. Absolutely loved it.

A truly delicious sushi experience! The sushi here is always fresh and well prepared. The special rolls are quite large and worth the money. I am keen on the spicy salmon roll which has nice little flecks of tempura sprinkled on top. My wife goes for the DJ roll which is quite hefty and very delicious. Price is comparable to other a-la-cart sushi joints, and is a good deal considering the high quality of food. So far we've only had takeout, but when the pandemic is over we'll try sitting in one day.
Only complaint (and loss of one star) is they keep putting fish eggs on our food even when we ask for none. It happens maybe 20% of the time and then I need to spend 30 mins driving back to get a new DJ roll (my wife simply can't eat fish eggs). When this happens the staff is very apologetic and accommodating, so this doesn't keep me from going back as my "go to" sushi joint.

I ordered a 70pieces sushi/sashimi combo via Ubereats tonight. The sushi came in warm and the sashimi smell fishy. We had 4 adults and each tried one or two pieces and found the whole platter seemed like it wa sitting at room temperature for too long before being delivered to the point that it was not edible. The oil from the fish already melting out and it was disgusting. I called the restaurant to tell them the problem, they told me to bring the platter back for them to see (as if they don't believe me). So we did bring it back but they insisted nothing was wrong and they were very rude about it. They said I should tell ubereats not them. Then why did they tell me to make the trip to go to the restaurant in the first place? ! So we just gave the platter back to them. Never going back again!

Oh Osaka, you have shattered my confidence in your once glorious family owned sushi restaurant.

Covid-19 has hit a lot of small businesses hard and it is VERY apparent this restaurant is trying to make up for lost business and while I understand the reason behind this new business strategy, the dining experience leaves a lot more to ask for and quite frankly, a bitter after taste once the bill is settled.

Where do I start? Made reservations for a birthday celebration for 5: 45 PM for a party of 5 adults and 2 babies. We were stuck in traffic so I called to inform them and they were okay. Our entire party arrived at 6 PM. We ordered by 6: 20 PM. Mind you, we were the second table to be seated in the restaurant at this point and on a Tuesday night and it was still relatively quiet.

Our order: A Spider King roll, 6 pieces of uni sushi, large boat of mixed sushi, sashimi and rolls (says 90 pieces if I recall correctly). Not a small order but definitely didn't feel like a big order that couldn't be filled in a reasonable time seeing we were the second table there.

We didn't get our food until 7: 50 PM! Yes, you read that correctly, 7: 50 PM. One hour and a half later. After repeated check-ins with the servers too. I couldn't believe this. I stared at our boat sitting on the sushi making counter.literally just sitting there with pieces occasionally being put on it. Meanwhile, tables arriving after us started receiving their food (yes, some were bento boxes or noodles so I get that part but I also saw a lot of sushi being served) and people coming in to pick up their takeout whizzed in and out. And then it dawned on me.

They are PRIORITIZING TAKE OUT ORDERS over DINE-IN right now. I hate this. Since when was dine-in not important? And then you have the audacity to ask for a tip after?

The SAVING GRACE to this meal was our server. It was definitely not her fault as I witness the tragedy unfold before us. She kept apologizing but couldn't look me in the eye; I think she knew they f*&ked up. Shame on you owners; you were standing there taking order after order over the phone but didn't have the courtesy to come by and apologize to us for making us wait an hour and a half for our meal. Instead, you sent your underpaid and underappreciated wait staff to clean up after your mess.

Did I mention we had babies with us? Anyone who has had a baby understands bed time routines and wake windows. We specifically reserved an early dinner so that we could eat, celebrate a birthday and then gtfo of the restaurant fast so we don't break routine AND disrupt other customers enjoying their night out. Nothing kills the mood like a non-stop crying baby sitting next to your table, right? While the adults in our group were very patient with the restaurant, unfortunately the babies were not. By the time we were done eating, it was after 9 30 PM and even one of our guests had to leave earlier due to another event and not expecting to be there past 8: 30. Thank you Osaka for that.

Osaka Sushi has always been above average quality food and when it does arrive on time, this fact remains to be true. However, one of their amazing traits that use to separate them from other sushi joints was their sashimi and sushi fish pieces were of generous cuts/sizes. Now, as a result of COVID, their fish piece is razor thin. I have no doubt they took that one piece from before and divided it into two and then raised prices.

My family has been going to this restaurant for many years now; I've brought many friends and recommended this place to others. But you guys got lazy and desperate. Stop taking orders that you can't fulfill because you are HURTING your client base. You're serving sushi and unless you had to fly overseas to catch your fish and fillet it yourself, there is no reasonable excuse your customers should wait one hour and a half for their food. Embarrassing and inexcusable.

I will not be visiting this restaurant anymore - there are WAY better options available now.

We used to go to Osaka for dinner and it was great but their takeout menu doesn’t specify what’s in their platter. I got a roll party platter and it was basically all California roll (different variations of California roll). For $50 for 46 pieces I would expect atleast a set of spicy salmon and not all California rolls. I won’t be returning in the future.

The udon broth at this place is spot on. It is not overly salty and super flavourful. The rolls are big and packed with loads of ingredients. On the pricy side for dinner prices, but the quality is great so worth it. If you are looking for a good deal for a really tasty and satisfying meal, go during lunch. Ends at 3pm. Mmmmm

Bought the Bento Box and it was not only delicious but appropriately priced for the quality and portion.

I placed an order on Mother's Day and everything was absolutely delicious! Looking forward to trying more of the menu.

This is one of my favourite Sushi spots to go to. Ordered a family platter once, the portion size was huge and I loved it!

It was very busy during mother's day but the staff was still able to get everything together really quick. The sushi tasted great and was presented very well:)

We went on the weekend.there were too many people inside.customers for takeout are standing right next to tables where dine-in customers are eating. It said max 37 people, there were more than 37 people inside.

Great food, very nice staff, regularly excellent ambience. They charge reasonable rates and the food quality is excellent. I recommend this place.

This is another one of my favorite restaurants for sushi in Markham. It takes us 25 mins to get there from were we live but it us totally worth it. Their fish is fresh, and the individual portions of sushi sashimi and rolls are on the larger side. So their portions will for sure fill you up. They also have good customer service even when they are swamped with orders, as we experienced on Valentines Day. I highly recommend this place!

I recently ordered the party platter, the sushi was amazing. I love this place and by far the best I have tried in Toronto.

Sushis, sashimis and the rolls are so fresh and the rice part is not as thick as other Japanese restaurants! The only drawback is, when you call to order the food, if it's a lady who answer the phone, then it's OK, but if it's a guy, then you have problem, because he is not helpful at all!

Horrible. Got beef terreyaki, it was cold with way too much overly sweet sauce. More sauce than beef.

Sushi was not fresh, the fish pieces were dry on the rice. Miso soup had a fishy after taste.

Pricey lunch specials. I've had better Japanese food for lower prices - even for unauthentic Japanese. I don't know how they get away with charging $14.50 for a bowl of fish cake udon noodles and a side of sushi rolls. There isn't even any real protein in that "meal". I had the salmon teriyaki bento box for $11.50 and the fish was dry. Wouldn't have come if my friends didn't suggest it and definitely will not return. Service was really slow for lunch hour.

Fantastic place for some quality fish. The decor is very extravagant and really makes you feel like you are in a old style sushi hut. It does tend to get really crowded so a reservation is highly recommended.

Fresh and very tasty! The specialty rolls here are huge! Staff are very polite and service is quick.

Another hidden gem in a non-descript shopping plaza!

Parking readily available and tucked between a Shopper Drug Mart and a Home Hardware store, the restaurant has little rooms as well as a general open seating area.

The sushi was of good quality and beautifully presented; wait staff were welcoming and provided recommendations if asked.

Fresh fish, generous portions for boat and great service. We ordered the 70 sushi and sashimi boat, 1 ramen and 1 udon for 5 adults and 1 kid. We were so full. The sushi boat's fish slice sizes were generous, unlike many other sushi places and they gave us 2 free raw fresh oysters. The fish was sweet, indicating its freshness. They have many little divided "rooms" with service buttons if you need service and the waitress was always very friendly and fast

Great tasting sushi that is very filling. The roles are gigantic and taste really good. Decor is very nice and is a lot better than the other sushi restaurants in the area in terms of environment.
Table service is really good and you order by pressing a button, something I wish more restaurants would implement.

The food here is incredible. If you order a special roll take your time choosing as there are many to consider and each one can be shared between 2 diners as they are HUGE. We ordered the Toronto Roll and it was all we could eat between the two of us. Salmon Lover is a great choice and one of our go-to rolls. This place has been given top ratings by many other review sites and deservedly so. Service is quick and the there are call buttons at each table so you don't have to try and flag down a server, the come to you.

I've been going for a couple of years now, and I love it, the geisha roll and salmon lovers roll are my go to. Last time I went, the rolls seemed to fall apart very easily, and the salmon kept falling out of the rolls. They were also quite busy and it took a while (35 minutes) to get a seat, so I'll chalk this particular experience up to a hectic dinner rush, otherwise love going here.

Food was good but they didn't have enough wait staff. It took a long while for everybody's food to arrive.

Food is pretty good! Even when they were crazy busy on Christmas, food came out looking spectacular and obviously put together with care.

Good bang for your buck; the chirashi would be better if there were more variety of fish. The fish is fresh and portion sizes are very reasonable.

Went with high expectations, but disappointed with the sashimi. The roles and the shrimp tempura were good.

This is by far one of my favourite sushi spots. Year over year their quality of food has not decline. The prices are great, service is amazing, great for veg and non veg individuals. I have recommended this place to many and they all walked out with the same feeling of great satisfaction!

Love this place. The sushi rolls are bigger than most places. Quality of the fish is above and beyond.

Great quality sushi, clean, fresh and portioned that you won’t leave hungry. The restaurant is very cosy and tight so if you’re a big guy you might find it tight to sit in the small spaces but the ambiance decor is very fitting. Staff was very friendly, approachable and service was prompt, your table is consistently cleared to keep you comfortable. This even they had actually had bluefin tuna/toro available and even displayed part of the fish at the entrance. It seem odd to keep part of the carcass on display but it was definitely a interesting visual hinting at how fresh things come in. King Spider Roll was very good, crispy batter with lots a flavourful.

Korean owned sushi restaurant clearly loved by the local residents of Markham ans beyond! You know they are serious about their sushi when you walk in and see a huge fin on display next to a sign advertising today's special freshly received fish is: bluefin tuna.

The Special rolls deserve a shoutout because they are korean sized. It was bacially a cross section of my forearm.it was huge! Such good value and crammed with fillings rather than rice. The Toronto roll and Osaka Special Roll were crowd pleasers, the former coming dressed with a pile of sashimi and sauce on top.

The sashimi is also generously cut with extremely fresh fish. The tuna, butter fish and sockeye salmon were particularly good with phenomenal flavour and melt in the mouth texture.

The Ramen was also fantastic with the soup base not too salty while still tasting rich and well stewed.

Overall I can't fault Osaka and highly recommend this restaurant, I would book thought because they get busy quickly!

Nice atmosphere. They are set up well. The booths have a call button for when you are ready to order. The food is good but not great. The spicy ramen noodle is a bit bland. The sushi and sashimi a la carte is overpriced for what you get. 6 bucks for 2 pieces of salmon sushi, the most common type. The salmon was warm. The Toro sashimi is 8.50 for 3 very thin slices of veiny almost frozen tuna. I was looking forward to finding a gem of a Japanese restaurant in Markham, but sadly this didn't meet my expectations. The food came fast which was nice, but we had to press the call button 3 times in order to ask someone for the bill.

Quite pricey for quantity of food. Quality seems ok. The special rolls are very big, not your typical Japanese sized rolls. I would rather the rolls be smaller lower price so you can order different types to share.

Went here for a dinner celebration. I got the volcano roll ($15) which came with a soup and salad, son had the tempura udon ($15) which came with soup and tempura pieces on the side (2 shrimp, 1 zucchini, 1slice of Asian pumpkin, 2 pieces of sweet potato), hubs ordered the salmon Bento ($22) which came with the same amount of tempura, 5 or six pieces of assorted sushi, 3 salmon avocado Maki rolls, 2 spring rolls and a big pieces of salmon teriyaki. Portion sizes are huge, and the fish is fresh. Tempura is nice and crunchy. Service a great. Would rather spend the money here than at an AYCE

Sushi here is pretty amazing, and humungous! We tried the toronto roll (which I highly recommend, but it does have a LOT of salmon piled on the sushi), soft shell crab roll, and some apps. For 2 people, 1 special roll and an app is pretty much enough.

Osaka is our go-to for Japanese food. The food is always fresh and consistently great. Tonight we had a bento dinner with sushi, sashimi and tempura, an Ikayaki (grilled squid), a donburi bowl with pork cutlets and another one with bulgogi. The price (between $15 and $25 per entree) is fair given the larger than usual portions. And though it was busy tonight, the staff who waited on us were attentive and prompt. They sat us in a small private room with sliding doors for privacy and there is a buzzer if you want to call them for additional orders or to get the bill. Overall a great experience for a weeknight dine-out with the family.

Quality of sashimi - meh, I've had a better experience with fresher fish from Niji for literally $6 cheaper and same size and amount of pieces

Quality of Rolls - they fell apart easily, I think they use a really low-grade, high-gluten flour. I had a really bad reaction to the tempura batter they used in the Geisha Roll (I'd say that roll was made up of 60% spicy salmon and 40% tempura batter, which is a filler at this point to make the rolls look bigger at this point). The spicy salmon-type rolls at Niji are wayyyy better in terms of freshness and quality than from Osaka Sushi

I also don't know what they season their rice with but that could also be another factor to my reaction. Just a disappointing experience overall.: (

This is one of the best sushi places in Markham. It’s always fresh and the taste is much better than the other places I have tried. It’s now our go to place for sushi and Japanese food. Customer service is also amazing. They really know how to treat customers and always with a smile too. Definitely recommend. And always going back here. Just as an FYI, it can get busy around dinner time. Especially on weekends as this place has a limited amount of seating, so be prepared to wait a little bit, but they do try and have a quick turnaround time. But well worth the wait.

The portioning of food matches the price. The quality is also nice. I just think they can work on customer service a little bit more but it was still worth it.
