It was a pleasure to work with Sam for our pre-purchase structural home inspection. We were buying our first home and found some of the signs and symptoms usually attributed to structural problems. Sam agreed to come take a look and give a verbal consultation, putting our minds at ease for one of the biggest decisions we would make for a long while!

-It takes an engineer to appreciate another engineer as I look up to Mr. Yakoub PEng (Professional Engineer) as “my better”. The term “my better” comes from the Ontario Eng ring ceremony to be honoured to receive the ring from a very prestigious; experienced and established engineer in the field who attends the ceremony. Mr. Yakoub is at the level of prestige!
-I came to Dr. Yakoub in a very stressful time of having issues regarding the building I live in. In our modern life and times dealing with things are not sometimes very straight forward and requires a structure engineer expert involvement.
-Dr. Yakoub has a very calm demeanour when you meet him for the first time, to me that was very assuring. You may think that as you speak to Dr. Yakoub he may not be taking mental notes of things, be assured he is of everything, because he is thinking.
-Dr. Yakoub is %100 dedicated to his project. He will not rest till the report is at his standard, which is very high quality. Dr. Yakoub is at the very top level with his competent capabilities: Observations and Analysis; and Conclusions and Recommendations, top notch, simply excellent in his reports.
-I am in a happy place (literally!) to recommend Dr. Yakoub as the structure engineer you should go to for any issues you may have with the building. After 2 years of stressful events coming to 3, I am thankful of Dr. Yakoub’s report. Sam, is the best Structural Engineer I had so far. Sam has a PHD in Structural Engineering with over 20yrs of experience which shows up through his amazing work.
Sam have made the most detailed inspection and report for me. Sam is very bold with his pen in his report to call out the exact cause of the issue no matter what it is which is really impressive. I have worked with many Structural engineers before and everyone talks but when it comes to writing the actual issue in a formal report no one have the confidence to write what they talk. When it comes to writing most engineers usually write the most expensive option to the home owner, but Sam makes sure that he is finding the most cost effective option.
The only regret I have is not hiring Sam earlier. I highly recommend for any kind of projects. His site visit is worth every penny. Even if you are just buying your first home, hiring Sam instead of a home inspector for a site visit will save you from a lot of headache down the road.

Sam was such a pleasure to work with. We had an urgent and unexpected need for an engineering report. He made time for us immediately and turned his full report around so quickly. We were so grateful. I happened to spend several hours with him as he completed his site visit and research. He’s an impressive professional and very courteous. He’s both a PEng and a PhD. We priced out three engineers and he was the most reasonably priced, too.
All in all, I can’t recommend Sam enough.

We had Sam at our commercial property to inspect the beginnings of a hole under our parking structure. As it was an urgent safety matter, he came as soon as he could and was the epitome of professionalism. The assessment and report were thorough, and he turned everything around to us in a timely manner.
