Pancer's Original Deli

The good: place is clean and friendly. Staff are very nice. Lots of history on the wall.

The okay: Smoked meat is lean and stacked high but very little flavour. Reuben combo is also devoid of a ton of flavour and the fries are frozen. Pastrami, not photographed, was a little fatty, but had more flavour than the others.

I have been to Pancer’s a few times. There was a long gap though and recently, I got the Rueben with corned beef. It’s solid deli. The sandwich was a realistic size that you could actually eat. I find some places make a sandwich so big, you can’t even bite it. I spent the $18 and got the fries, coleslaw and pickle. The coleslaw is more oil than vinegar and still crunchy. The pickle is somehow soft and crunchy at the same time. They are quite tart and perfect to cut through the fat and mustard of the sandwich. The fries were well cooked and plentyful. A great urban deli.

I grew up with the original location just north of where it is now. I knew Stan Pancer when he was alive always made us feel welcome. The new location I believe is run by his nephew Lorne Pancer. The atmosphere, food and service still as good as the old days. It is so nice to still be able to visit the restaurant even though I live in Richmond Hill.
We love the pastrami, roast beef, dill pickles and well done fries with gravey.

I buy the deli meat to go-absolutley love the quality of meats at this place. For someone that does not eat pork and loves deli meat, I can buy pastrami, salami and it's beef!:) The Matzo soup is the best here.

The best in toronto. But the Ceasar salad was absolutely terrible. And charging $13 for it is outrageous. Tasted like no name dressing and croutons. Barely any dressing on it. I know it's a deli but come on.

We haven't been there for a long time. SO Glad we went. The pastrami sandwich was just fantastic. Absolutely delicious. It was sliced thinly and was juicy.
My husband had a hamburger with onion rings. It was his huge and delicious. Onion rings were great. We shared rice pudding for dessert and it was fantastic. I absolutely recommend Pancers on Bathurst street. It's great. Very few true delis left and this one is outstanding.

Pancer’s is THE deli to go to in Toronto! Arguably one of the best in the whole of North America, I love the classic deli and kosher items. Grab a Vernon’s ginger soda to go along with a classic pastrami on rye, some latke, knish, and matzoh ball soup. Extremely welcoming and friendly service as well, thank you kindly for having us.

It is very delicious! There's a lot of meat and the combo comes with a lot of fries. French fries were like oven baked. It wasn't oily at all. Will try other menu items next time.

If you're looking for the best Reuben in Toronto, I think I found it! A generous helping of juicy, tender pastrami (or corned beef) with the right amount of cheese, sauerkraut and the creamiest dressing between two pieces of nicely buttered rye comes together perfectly, bursting with flavour! I can't rave about it enough. Its hard to find a reuben that hits all the elements to give you that perfect sandwich. I've had it multiple times and its always consistently delicious You've gotta try it. Loved their onion rings too. Get em with some extra dressing on the side for dipping!

Amazing food, huge portions and a great atmosphere. Came here with my grandfather as a kid, and recently returned with my girlfriend, just as delicious as I remember! If you've never been before, definitely put it on your to-do list!

The smoked meat sandwich is superb. Had the combo. Coleslaw is not creamy which I prefer. Good price as well.

Food is good, but staff behaviour leaves a lot to be desired… My partner and I walked in to order take out which is going to take about 10min. Place was very busy but one table was free and we were told to sit down and wait… After few minutes additional customers arrived for sit down. Then manager came in and unceremoniously told us to “Get Out! ” Coz he needs a table for sit down clients… while we totally understand his needs, this not the way to treat take out clients, extremely rude! … Not coming back here, regardless of food quantity…

Been a customer for many years, you can't beat Pancer's when it comes to deli. Sandwiches are perfect and i love their knishes

The waitress told us we just missed the rush. We arrived around 3pm.

We ordered blintzes, 2 egg salad sandwiches, fried pickle spears, pickled green tomatoes, and latkes.

Everything came super quick. The food is hot, home cooking that is simple and fresh. Prices are great.

Yum! Lean Corned Beef on rye with mustard was a big hit - as usual. The meat was piled so high that we would have been stuffed with one sandwich instead of the two that we ordered.

Just there (April 24 2022). I had Kishka and Corn beef platter. Took half home too much to eat. It was so good. Everyone enjoyed everything.

BEST JEWISH DELI EVER! I’ve tried the roast beef sandwich and the Montreal smoked meat sandwich, BOTH are the bomb dot com but the roast beef sandwich is my ultimate fav. Hot tip: Get an onion bun. I’ve also tried their latkes and onion rings, SO GOOD. So sad they are closed at the moment, I am craving their mouth watering roast beef sandwich and warm staff. Definitely stop by!

A couple of my "usual" places to satisfy the salted beef craving have closed in covid. Thank goodness Pancer's is still open for takeout. Delicious and good value too. Strong recommend.

Order a beef knish with gravy as a "side" to whatever else you get. Your tastebuds will thank you.

Lorne has a big mouth and attitude just like his father Stanley had Aside from the chutzpah the actual food quality has gone down so 1) you're dealing with a big mouth & 2) the quality just isn't there.

The fact that I know Stanley says just how long my family & I frequented this joint.

Amazing restaurant. Very generous portions. Meat is prepared how you prefer either thick or thin. Fresh bread and terrific soups / appetizers.

This place is an institution in Toronto, anyone who loves Deli sandwiches such as smoked meat, know about Moe’s or now Prancer’s Deli.

If you do get smoked meat ask for Hand cut, the taste is different and true to the famous Deli’s in Montreal.

Upgraded to 5 star. It felt old school in the best way. I do believe that this is far and away the best brisket in Toronto, maybe anywhere, just please dont get it lean or cold it will kill the flavour! So many excellent items, even delivery is great. In thinking about the rating, my highest marks go to the gravy. Dip everything in it, its amazing.

Amazing cute little delicatessen with dine in and take out. Got the pastrami sandwich, mustard yes, side of fries, coleslaw.

Pastrami is done so well, simple and delicious. Prices are all reasonable too. Lots of visits lunch until late afternoon.

The food was good but I found it odd that they charged for hot water. I would have appreciated a heads-up from the waitress when I had placed the order.

My friend and I wanted deli so we headed over to Pancers for some corned beef sandwiches no disappointment there at all.we were seated promptly and dispenced with the covid Questions and ordered the fries and sandwich was delish medium is how I like it slather on the mustard and away I go. With a side of Cole slaw and a tea and chocolate cake. For dessert so good. I will be back for sure. The waitresses know there business. And we're very pleasant to deal with.

This is a Toronto top 3 deli and one of the best old school delis in the world. It’s genuinely some of the best corned beef around. Cabbage borscht is a also a winner. Everything I have ever tried delicious. Its authentic and a true classic. Food that puts a smile on your face and gives real satisfaction. See you soon!

I had not been to Pancer's Deli in more than 2 years. As the last visit was horrible in quality and service. I decided to give it another try. Wanted to dine in on Saturday, however it was packed and would be a 45 minute wait. So I opted for take out, with the Lean Corn Beef Combo. I was very pleased by the service this time and The Quality, was the Quality that had made Pancer's Famous. Maybe new Management? Who knows, but whatever we will be back. Also the lady at the Cash by the Door, was very nice and friendly.

Delicious! This family deli is an absolute classic! Best pastrami, rye, and coleslaw! Generous sandwiches.

This is an old school favorite in Toronto since at least the 1960s. Still doing it right!

Tried the corned beef and pastrami sandwich. Meat cooked very tender, but lacking seasoning on the outer edge. I'm used to 2nd avenue deli in NYC. Still great spot for a Toronto deli!

We love this spot and the latkes are absolutely to die for.it’s always the place we pick up lunch from when my partner’s parents are in town. I love the bagels but 7 dollars is a bit steep for just a toasted sesame with cream cheese, but I keep going back so they must be worth it!

This place really shines when you know what you like already, so if you've never been before take some time to see what's on the menu.

Can't go wrong with a good old corned beef with hot mustard and onions. Ask for dark rye, they'll use light rye by default.

It's an acquired taste, but there aren't a lot place left that serve real good chop liver sandwiches.

Used to love coming here for the Montreal style deli sandwiches. Never coming again. Got yelled at today by two employees seconds after opening the door. I understand limitations of people inside the restaurant - these regulations exist everywhere - however there is a way to get your point across that doesn't involve two people simultaneously screaming at a customer.

***EDIT*** since I cannot reply to the owners comment, I am adding my response here. No one in walking into the restaurant was without a mask. In fact, the workers in the Deli were the ones approaching *us* and not keeping a safe distance of 6ft, while yelling.

The only issue here is the owner using COVID protocol to excuse their culture of poor customer service.

Whatever the issue, yelling is not the solution.

The waitress came to our table and I ordered a Vernors as I opened the menu to see what I wanted to eat.

"If you ordered a Vernors you know what you want.so what do you want? "

Its that kind of place. 5 stars.

Fabulous food and owner super friendly. Place was packed but my take out was ready. Great portions. 1 sandwich can feed 2 people. Best deli in the city. Worth the drive and if your from out of town and love a jewish deli this is the place to go to

I was told to try the sandwich there. Highly recommended. The individual that recommend Pancer's, I asked if he tried my favorite Deli location in Mississauga. He said no.

My location which I'm not going to buy a sandwhich for him to try and then maybe he will stop recommending Pancers. I found the food amount less then at my favorite location and the cost at least $3 more for a sandwich and a pop. No pickle provided like my favorite place in Mississauga.

Let me start by saying FOR ME, if a place doesnt serve Knish, it's not a TRUE Deli. Now you can have great sandwiches, and tasty soup, but your missing something if dont have one on the menu. So guess what? Pancer's sell's a fantastic corned beef filled Knish with a smooth beef gravy. Great Sandwiches, Kishka's, Soups and Latkes. This is my favorite Deli in Toronto!

Best deli in town. Roast beef sandwich is a must. Tuna melt and corned beef are good too! They’ve been around forever, and you can tell! They’ve mastered smoked meat.

Just very delicious. Had two sandwiches, smoked meat is juicy as heck, delicious spices, mouth watering, wife loved the corned beef. Delicious matzoh ball soup, nice broth. Coleslaw home made, nice marination, generous amount. Have a younger woman that greets everyone, beautiful smile. I'm disabled, I felt very welcome. Very friendly place, 100% satisfied, so glad I went. Keep up up the good work. Feels like the 50's or 60's, love that. Should put some door openers on entrance way doors, difficult to navigate.

Food is great. Service is poor and service people are indifferent and couldn't care less that 3 are almost done eating and the 4th person had not received their sandwich yet. No apologies for the fact that the order muddy have been lost

I had the corn beef sandwich special. It came with a generous size sandwich, which can be ordered lean, regular or medium fat, I ordered regular. The meal also came with a pickle and coleslaw. To drink I ordered a glass of ice water.

I’ve dealt with the staff, even called in to order sandwiches and the older man with the raspy voice can be quite rude and condescending, does he know he’s in the hospitality industry? My advice is to humble yourself you miserable old fart.

The original Pancer family is back and the food is as delicious as ever. My new "old" go to spot for corned beef and pastrami piled high - and I mean piled high - on fresh rye. You gotta eat here!

Fantastic service, great prices, and wonderful portions. Had a deli platter with corned beef and pastrami, daily soup, and Greek salad. Everything turned out wonderful.

I went there for lunch specially from Burlington but was surprised it’s not kosher as they promot it is kosher.
