Parkside House

Price was very reasonable. Clean. Hosts are friendly and live on premises if help needed. Warm and comfortable. Would stay again.

We had a wonderful near month long stay here. The landlords are helpful, friendly and accommodating. If you get the chance, have a fire in the back yard with them. They are such nice people. Ask about the house you are staying in, I thought it had an interesting history. The housekeeper is very nice and outgoing. So much so we invited her to have a beer and learn more about her story (we also had similar conversations with the owners).

While the floors creaked a bit upstairs where we stayed, we only heard our neighbor when they were coming or going. The bed was comfortable and did not give me a backache. The kitchen was equipped well enough to let us make our own meals.

Many, many restaurants are within walking distance and the owners offer their local recommendations.

Give Haimish and Boo Boo some lovin’s if they are outside and will let you.:)

I highly recommend going down the street to the Parkside Corner Market and getting any one of Chef James’s prepared meals. The Chef and his protégé run the place and the food is real, delicious and easy as it can be warmed with either a microwave or oven.

Just a few steps away is a Dutch deli with classic items and unique imports as well. Again, friendly people working at the counter.

This place was a welcome variation to the hotels and motels that Barrie has to offer. In an unassuming “house” with suites around the back and the side. It was quiet and pretty and the rooms were exceptionally clean and luxurious. The taps in the bathroom were annoying but it was such a generally pleasant time that it was mostly endearing. Lots of privacy, easy access to the waterfront and downtown Barrie. Loved this spot.

Amenities could have been better. The place was clean enough, but the guy running the place was a bit of a spaz / dramatic.

Such a great surprise to find an entire apartment for less than the cost of a bare bones hotel room! Terrific facilities, very quiet, and the downtown location is extremely convenient. I will definitely recommend Parkside House to family and friends.

Stayed at Parkside House a couple of times at couldn't have been happier. First choice of accommodations anytime I need to recommend. 100%

Really appreciated the great place to stay, the awesome kitchen replete with great guidance on proper disposal of recycling and compostable, tips on local eateries, even a beautiful greeter kitty-cat at the entrance way. The space itself has a wonderful energy and was very comfortable. The location is within very easy walking distance to a great path along the lake and good food. Next time I need to lay my head in Barrie, I will book here for sure.

Had a great overnite experience here during my solo bike tour around Lake Simcoe last week. The suite and furniture was clean, the bed/sheets and towels were fresh. Even the coffee grounds they provide to brew your own cup was excellent! Steve was very nice about my questions (even silly ones like how to operate the number pads on the door lock.). The next night I stayed at a Wyndham hotel in Jacksons Pt, Georgina that was not even comparable (other than having a lake view). Happy to support this local business. Mos def will be back every time I’m in this area and will recommend to friends.

Watching tv or stepping on your creaky floor caused you to kick us out. We gotta pay for towels that were already dirty if we get them dirty. Give yourself a check.

Initially was worried about booking here. We did it online. After getting to our suite we were very impressed.

Stayed in Suite #1 and loved it. Full of charm, very cozy, immaculate, wonderful bed and linens. Beautifully appointed. Felt completely at home and extremely comfortable. So totally superior to staying in a hotel. Lots of attention to detail. Who else includes makeup remover pads - with vitamin D and alcohol free no less? And real coffee cream. So many really nice touches. Met the host and the resident kitty cat. A warm and friendly greeting by both:). Looking forward to returning very soon. Thanks very much for the great experience!

Steve and Mark have a lovely, quiet and clean accomodation in the Parkside House. Far better than a hotel of similar cost.

Needed a place in a hurry for my Mum to stay during a medical emergency over Christmas and Steve was accommodating and gracious allowing her to stay without any prior notice. Her ground floor suite came with it's own entrance and parking right there. She said the place was very clean and extremely well designed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Amenities included were helpful to her last minute stay and she surely appreciated the free WiFi.
I would highly recommend to visitors to the Barrie area also for it's location. Just outside the downtown area which boasts many fine restaurants and close to the wonderful waterfront area that Barrie is renown for.

My friends stayed at this BNB over the valentine's weekend. We came to visit for dinner and since I rent a few BNBs in Barrie wanted to check the place out for a possible future stay. While the plus points for us were value for money (good rate), and standard room (although the pics are far more complimentary than the place itself). Some negative points to note which made the experience an unfortunate one: the air quality of the place was terrible, the windows couldn't be open and the heat was on very high making the rooms stifling hot & stuffy. We also had an extremely unpleasant experience when I arrived to visit my friends, primarily due to the absolutely rude owner. He informed us that we had to park our cars off the property to allow for paying guests to access the designated parking spots (we completely understood and agreed). Since we didn't know that area well but had heard it wasn't in the best part of town - I personally explained that my friends would be arriving in a couple of hours and would move the cars then. After about an hour he came knocking on the door and insisted that we move the cars in a very chaotic and rude manner. We explained our friends would be back within the hour - following that exchange he came back very angry and started to yell - pushing the door open and insisting we move the cars at that moment. We obviously moved our cars but his approach, mannerisms and his outright rudeness was off putting. Would I go back.no!

Our week long stay at Parkside House due to our house being sold, was totally stress free thanks to the amenities and lodgings provided by the proprietors. The thoughtful touches from tea and milk in the fridge to bathroom sundries made our stay like a mini vacation when it would normally be a stressful time. We felt like we were at home very quickly and we were afforded the peace and privacy we needed to recuperate from the stress of putting the house up for sale. We loved the location and the easy access to Barrie’s best downtown restaurants and the beautiful waterfront. We would absolutely stay there again. Thank you for a great week!

Fabulous place to stay. The owner is very attentive, the room was immaculate, nicely decorated, great location, and you will definitely feel at home.

I've had to stay at several different places off and on since September 2020. I've been to many places over that time but once I found this place I haven't gone anywhere else. I've been here every 2nd week for a week at a time for months now. Super-clean and very comfortable. The owner is always accessible, easy to talk to, and willing to accommodate requests. Huge TVs in all suites that I've been in. Comfortable beds and pillows. Always felt like a clean place. Last but not least, each suite has a lot of charm: a lot of old-school with splashes of modern. Not happy having to be away from home every second week but happy to arrive at Parkside when I do. Highly recommend.

Stayed in Suite 5 this weekend while in Barrie for a course at Georgian. The bed and room were super comfortable, and the bathroom is nicely appointed with a big, hot shower. The location is great - close to downtown Barrie and the waterfront with lots of great restaurants nearby. The owner was also super attentive and responded quickly to a question. Would definitely stay again!

Staying here for two nights, a couple very minor issues but nothing you couldn't live without. Wish I had this kitchen at home. Very spacious and comfortable bed. Reccommend to anyone coming to the area. Amazing price for what you get.

Place was clean, spacious and owners where attentive to our arrival and stay. Price was right. Would highly recommend this establishment when your in the Barrie area. No a/c in our unit, but was not an issue for our stay.

Called to ask a question told him I was going to book through booking.com for $134 he told the price was wrong and that it was $450 for the night because of the Stones concert.what a douche.capitalism at its best.hope the room sits empty.might be a nice place but I’ll never give this guy a dime of my money

Clean and cozy

It located near go bus station and waterfront. You can get Spirit catcher within 5 min by foot.

Studio room has great bathtub, and the bed and pillows were soft. The host was kind and friendly. Easy check in through auto doorlock.

If i visit Barrie again i will stay here again.
