Paupers Pub

Went on Sunday for the first time. We both had spicy Caesars and burgers and both were excellent. My Wife and I have worked in the service industry for many years and we can safely say that Isaac is one of the best servers we've had!

Over priced pretty mediocre bar food and didn't have the basic ingredients for a mojito, which seems like a bar essential

Great music choices up on the patio and played at a nice volume for conversation. The street traffic is audible from the rooftop patio but sets a nice background for views of the city. Very affordable drinks, so you can really sit and relax with friends.

Classic pub with great patios and indoor atmosphere! Food is decent, and drinks are a bit pricey. Still, a great Annex hangout!

In a group of four people, we ordered our drinks and I had ordered fries.
We had the fries before our drinks came, I asked for ketchup and napkins four times.
It was very near and far that our server came by, only when we asked for the bill: (
Nonetheless, we had fun. But the service was lacking.

I went here on reopening after (the most recent) lockdown and had a great time. Food was delicious and arrived quickly despite both patios being fully booked. We were on the rooftop patio and had Anne serving us, she was super friendly and so much fun! And turns out she did all of the colourful and beautiful murals there, too (AND all the new drinks)! Will definitely be back. I highly recommend this place, try to snag a spot on the rooftop, also ask for Anne too, she will not let you down!

Love the history of this place! Streetside patio is lovely. Have not tried the rooftop. Inside is nice too. Food was good but not sure about the prices. Would return for the atmosphere.

Great environment and beautiful toronto scenic views especially during sunset! But very poor service, tried to get a servers attention for 10 minutes and had to get up to get our own utensils

Paupers Pub is always a fantastic pub experience. Their food is comforting, fresh and almost always made to order. And in the event there's a mistake, staff quickly fix the problem. Our family's second home. Hands down.

Great local! It’s not too busy, the food is decent, and they have a good selection of beer on tap. Good place to kick it with your friends and hang out over a beer.

The frittata was great. The waitress was beyond amiable. Unfortunately, I couldn't find many vegetarian dishes on the menu. But I made the most of it.

This was once a great pub was where, like all great pubs, the camaraderie between the staff and the personalities created the basis for a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, in recent times, overpowering, unprofessional middle management who know absolutely nothing about running a pub have shorn this once iconic venue of its greatest assets and reduced it to just another so-so midtown bar with no atmosphere, no personality and no class. A major management overhaul is badly needed or Paupers could soon go the way of the dodo.

I love the rooftop patio. The only complaint I have about this place is that it doesn't take debit, only cash and credit. Otherwise good variety of drinks and great space.

The “roof top patio” sign lured us in as did memories from a bygone year as this place has been a neighbourhood anchor for years. It has been freshened up considerably since those days. The sunshine, very cool, multi-level, lots of cool cozy nooks, made the roof top patio a huge winner for us. And big bonus: happy hour (some beers $5 and half price appies). Great place to hang out before or after a Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema film across the street. The Bathurst / Bloor neighbourhood has become quite hipster. Love the vibe. Huge construction underway along Bloor, so biking here was horrible, highly recommend the TTC!

Cozy and spacious, this is one of my favourite places to grab drinks with friends. The food and drinks are very tasty, and the atmosphere is great. Usually easy to find a seat, and they have two patios!

Enjoyed all the Raptors games here with my friends. All the servers were very polite and sweet. Food was amazing as well as the service and the game? GO RAPS GO

It's a pub, no more no less and it's great! Lots of
room as it has multiple floors and a great patio in the summer.

I stop here every now and then because its near home. The good: nice patio, and inside has a nice ol English feel to it. Alos, half price appetizers between 3 and pm every day. Not many places do that. The so-so: The food is standard, I'd say good value for the rates in general.

Bog standard pub. Wobbly high tables and a few booths are a tight squeeze for liberally bellied individuals.

This place used to be great about 4-5 years ago before most of it changed. Went there for a couple of drinks after a very long time. At the end, I paid the bill for my friend and I on VISA. The server for some reason handed the customer copy of the receipt to my friend who was a guy. I didn't quite understand what happened there and frankly, I was a little offended by it.

Came here on Saturday for lunch. We were completely ignored by the staff. Had to wait for everything even though it wasn't busy. Ordered food and drinks eventually. We received our food (which was just okay) before our drinks. We had to go find staff to bring us a glass of water and the coffees we had ordered. Sat waiting, waiting when we were done our meal for someone to notice us. I really would have liked a coffee refill, but I couldn't find anyone. Honestly, we sat for more than 20 minutes without seeing any staff. Maybe they only have staff on for dinner? Will not be back.

Nice & cozy place. I just had a coffee drink & my hubby had a cider. They were both very good. The interior has a very red color palette. I liked it.

Arguably the best rooftop patio in the annex, leads of room across several floors. An excellent place to grab a pint and catch a game, or some conversation.

OMG! Prices are great, beer is amazing and every Thursday is a jam. Musicians play their music on stage. Sometimes it is ok, sometimes awful, but it is not Paupers Pub's fault.

Firstly the appetizer specials (3-6pm & 11pm-to whatever) is a great deal! The staff here have been consistently sweet with very good service. I've never been a regular to any bar before but this place impressed me. Let me start off by saying that I've been in the restaurant and entertainment industry for a long time and the amazing things I've witnessed here in the last 2 months (I moved across the street) are:
*I've seen their Chef leave the kitchen to deliver food when there was only one waitress on (immediately impressed, and he had a clean uniform)
*I have overheard the chef interview someone applying for a FOH position and he was nice asking relevant questions and clarified expectations.
* I don't know if he's a supervisor or manager but the man in charge of the front hold pre-shifts and beer tastings with the staff and talked about cleaning schedules.really it just makes me so happy to come here! From one industry professional to your wonderful business I just want to give you props on the way you are running your show.

* The customers are mostly straight but this is definitely a gay friendly place <3

* the music is always at a good level where you can both hear it and have a conversation which is consistently difficult to maintain in a changing atmosphere.

*Try the chipotle sauce if you get fries mmm mmm mmm!

Paupers is without a doubt one of the best bars in the Annex and Toronto!

I have never left a bag in a bar or restaurant until one unfortunate night after leaving Paupers - no fault of Paupers outside of being an awfully inviting place to be! Paupers has been one of my regulars since I moved to Toronto for obvious reasons: the fantastic hospitality and service, the affordable prices, and above all, the locale and scenic rooftop! One night after being way too into conversation and the atmosphere, somehow I managed to leave a backpack in our booth as we decided to call it a night. Arriving home, it hit me like a ton of bricks - my laptop, my livelihood, my everything, is at least hopefully, nestled within a booth at Paupers. I dashed out immediately and called the bar - and to my surprise, despite the bar having been closed for quite a bit by then, a reassuring voice responded. Without the slightest delay after describing my backpack, I was heartened by the words of it being secured. A short moment passed, and I was greeted with the reassuring notion that my belongings were safe, and was told that thanks to the interception of one of the bar staff, the backpack was not carried away by another patron. My luck was palpable, but only possible due to the diligence of the Paupers staff, who are not only attentive, but caring and down-to-earth.

For as long as I am a resident of the Annex and Toronto, Paupers is a homestead - don't expect nothing short of spectacular service if you visit!

Stopped in here on a whim with my daughter not long ago and we both enjoyed the place. It's a lovely pub, well kept and clean, nice colors, great servers, food is a step up from traditional bar food with a wide range of menu choices. The layout is conducive to varied requirements, whether two on a date or small groups. Very friendly vibe. Just visited again last night with some family and our group of five were very satisfied with the food and drinks and a patient and pleasant server.

I enjoy the unique atmosphere inside this establishment. The bright red colour of the seating is a nice change to your usual basic colors in most pubs. The dessert I had was pretty good too.

Decent old school pub but the layout is odd - they could use more large tables for groups. The patio furniture is cheap plastic. The food is average and the service has always been slow in my experience - even when it's not busy. TVs behind the bar are old. Everything in here could use a refresh or I'm sure it'll be a condo soon.

Excellent classic brunch—everything just right; like mother used to make. Even better, the server was charming and the Chardonnay was well chilled. Be back soonest.

From 3-6 they have half price appetizers and they're really good and the price is perfect. They have a great patio on the main floor and amazing patio upstairs and the staff is really really friendly the service is always amazing there but your meals are about $15 a plate, so if you're looking for cheap pub food this probably isn't the place for you.

Very cozy and 'in'. Often a university crowd in here. They do it right for special occasions (e.g, St. Patrick's Day). Good food and drinks.

Went here for Sunday brunch when Insomnia and White Brick had too long of a wait. Good tunes spinning with a DJ. Otherwise nothing special with the ambiance or food.

Nice place. Weird burger was totally worth it, though I could have done with a warning on how messy it was.

Great food and drinks, and an awesome rooftop patio for the summer. The staff are friendly but sometimes service can take a bit too long!
