Have been locked out and unavailable to see anything in my sign in past June 2022.
You would think they could have helped me access my information. Instead, they advised me to have my employer cancel me then add me again. Which is very time consuming and they are busy and my required information when contacted them two days again.

Seems unreasonable I can’t get access to my own information in a timely fashion.

An addition to this. They did get back to me and explained everything, this time to my satisfaction. I was upset when I wrote the original review. But their policies and what they could do for me made sense after we corresponded later in the day.
I feel they did explain themselves and I am happy with that.

I could not sign into our company profile after our annual renewal. Bella was so understanding of our frustration and used different methods to ensure she could rectify our issue. Her confidence in being able to assist made the call less stressful. She called me back later to ensure that I didn't have any problems logging in. This 5-Star rating is all because of Bella!

Clunky Software with field prepopulation errors that are hard to catch and then extra fees to get same errors corrected. Not recommended.

Been with Payment Evolution since the early days, and wow, they've come a long way! Always rolling out new features, which is a testament to their excellence. Customer service rocks —I can practically always get a real person on the line, and they're super helpful with making sure pay gets done right and on time. They really do go the extra mile to accommodate our needs, even when we're the ones causing delays. ;) Plus, their rates are pretty darn competitive. Highly recommend them!

When I started using the service, I thought it would save me time and money. How wrong I was.

Since the first month, this company has repeatedly tried to withdraw money from my linked bank account for "fees" with absolutely no heads up. Being informed prior to charges being run from my bank account should be a basic courtesy from any business. Overall, ive lost maybe $500 to NSFW fees because they will not stop running charges without a heads up. Overall a disorganized and quite frankly useless business that's lost me more money than it has saved me time. Most banks will offer the same service these guys do and do a much better job at it. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible platform. Getting your account setup takes forever. It will say something like "Send this information, now wait 4 days" then "Check your bank account for this, now wait another 4 days". It took forever to get setup, meanwhile they lock your account repeatedly during the process. They force you to pay for direct deposit features whether you use them or not and I have had nothing but issues with it. I just needed something to make paystubs.a calculator. Ended up spending a ton of time setting up and paying for features I didn't even want in the first place.

Overall, there are just much better options out there. I thought I would save $20/month but it wasn't worth it at all. I would just use something like QuickBooks and save the headache. Incredibly cumbersome and slow to setup.

Stay away from this system, took 1 week for direct payment to employee, more than 2 weeks sent remitment to CRA. Missing payment.and a lot hidden fee.

I have used them for a long time to manage my payroll. With all there changes I switched over to them managing payments to employees and remiting my payroll tax. The process was not smooth. I was locked out overseas, they missed paying my first remitance and the data for the first payroll is nowhere to be found.

Received excellent customer support from Asmara today, after really poor customer service from an agent the previous day.
She was excellent at explaining all the new changes and very polite and helpful.
Wish Payment Evolution would offer different plans with optional remittances and better work arounds for month end ePay dates, but am happy overall!

We have been using PayEVO for a number of years (8?). The software itself is fine, but the Customer Support makes us regret ever choosing PayEVO.

Our service was due for renewal. So I renewed. The price was displayed as $32/month, or $22/month when paid annually. A discount for a year-long commitment is common for online software. Great — I decided to proceed with an annual service. I was then charged the the $32/month in one $384 transaction.
So, I contacted Support.
First, they claimed I was wrong about the price. So I emailed them the screenshot from their webpage from the day of my purchase. Then they claimed the price was a website glitch which was corrected (but not before my purchase). They also claimed that the $22 price ended on July 21. I made my purchase on July 25.

No worries — these things happen. Companies are allowed to change prices. … but they aren’t allowed to advertise one price, but charge a higher price. I asked when the overpayment would be corrected. I was told that there wasn’t any overpayment — the higher price is correct (regardless of the lower price on the Payment Screen).

So, here we are —over a barrel. We made the purchase based on the price on the screen. We had just reviewed the price for changes services to QuickBooks/PayWorks, etc. PayEVO says the price was advertised incorrectly on their website, but won’t correct the charge. I guess they know that the work involved in changing Payroll Systems would cost any small business more than the $120. Or that most consumers wouldn’t notice the change in price between the website payment screen, and the receipt (or have proactively taken a screenshot).

This isn’t the first time we’ve had a similar experience with Customer Support. We’ve tried to use their Automatic ROE. Each time it was submitted automatically, there was an error. We kept getting charged for the error, even when the error wasn’t on our end. The whole point of the Auto-ROE is that the User only has to click “Submit”. Customer Support wanted to arrange a Video Call to show us how to complete an ROE — they didn’t seem to consider that it’s an Automated System. As a user, there isn’t any way for us to click “Submit” incorrectly. This lead to hours on the phone with Service Canada — trying to find the source of the error in a file that PayEVO submits directly to Service Canada. The fee was $5. I was suspended that I had to ask to have the subsequent fee refunded.

It’s disappointing that our options are either countless HR and Accounting hours setting up our Employees in a new Payroll System, or continuing to pay this company for insufficient Customer Support.

At the very least, we can help save someone else from a similar experience. All payroll companies may do the same thing — they truly do have Business Owners over a barrel.

Amazing customer service! I used to work for PaymentEvolution and parted ways with the company a while ago due to personal reasons. The company I am now working for uses ADP and it has been a nightmare! After a few horrible customer service calls and employees not getting paid on time myself and the owners decided to switch to PaymentEvolution. The switch has been seamless! The staff have been super helpful in getting everything set up. Our card was charged twice for the Epay set up - likely an issue on my end as I refreshed the page during payment - and they fixed it same day. I suggest PaymentEvolution to anyone who needs payroll software! Amazing team of sales and support. Thank you all so much!

Have been using PaymentEvolution for payroll for nearly three years and have never had any issues. Way cheaper than the alternatives, very easy to set up, and great support when adding employee benefits and so on.

Been using Payment Evolution now for over 8 years for my small business and absolutely love it. Why pay a a firm or someone else to do it when you can pay a yearly fee and do it yourself. Great to see them progress and grow over the years as well. The support is outstanding, highly recommend you give them a try.

Payment Evolution has been the company payroll since 2016. Everyone I have come in contact with has been extremely helpful and patient.

The software is easy to use and the reports are well put together. I recommend Payroll Evolution.

Have been using P/E for over 2 years now and have been very happy with both the app and the customer service. There is a bit of a learning curve to the reports but otherwise, would say the program and the support is top notch.

If you having anything at all to do with payroll, benefits or any form of Human Resources you must take the time to contact Payment Evolution! If you don't that is your loss. Nathan and Bob I can't thank them both enough, doesn't matter what time of day, doesn't matter what I need, they reply back to me, they call me, they find me and they find me the information I need. Do yourself a favor and reach out, you will be very happy that you took 5 minutes to make this call.

As end-of-year and T4 season rolls around again, I am reminded of how grateful I am that I found Payment Evolution. I tried a couple of other payroll systems in the past, and they were either too complicated (and expensive!) or too simplistic and prone to errors. PE is in the Goldilocks zone for a small business like mine, with a number of part-time and occasional employees. And when you need assistance with something there is an actual person at the end of the line who is invariably helpful. Thanks for the service you provide.

Earlier today I spoke with Payment Evolution regarding access to my Information after the subscription and the ability to access the information only in a read only format. After a call with there Ceo he expressed the reason for this and was able to guide me in the correct direction, along with highlighting the value added with the Payment Evolution Platform for Cra Payroll contributions and Employee deductions.
Im happy to say that Payment evolution and there customer care team were able to resolve the situation. There Customer service is superb and there genuine care for the customers and small businesses is one to note.
I would recommend Payment Evolution as a platform and support for any size business.

The people of Payment Evolution are amazing! Both the sales and support team are extremely helpful, professional, friendly and prompt, giving me the best advise for our business. Working across Canadian time zones with members of the team is great too - they are aware of the challenge this can be, and are accommodating. I would recommend this company. It's taken the stress of Payroll and turned it into a friendly, supportive exchange through easy-to-use software.

We are a seasonal business and operate during the winter season. Our account was continuously having issues when we tried to login, in addition to when we would try to process payroll information and try to submit our employees T4's and ROE's for the end of the year.

Anytime I called the support line for the consistent reoccurring issues, I was told to troubleshoot it the same way over and over which clearly never fixed the issue and was frustrating, because it was always an issue on their servers and took them weeks to resolve the issue every single time!

Utterly disappointed with the overall service and customer support with this company.

Lots of back and forth emails filled with no successful results. Ended up losing my money with them and decided to go with another company. Wouldn't recommend. If you do try with them. Only pay for the month by month.

Not happy.we are a seasonal operation and reopened 2 weeks ago. I called in to ask a question as it appears my account was set up incorrectly after I changed plans over the winter and that when I ran my payroll they would be debiting withholding taxes from my account as well. This was not how it was suppose to be setup. When I called in to inquire I was told I did not have support and in order to get an answer to that question I would have to pay a $260 fee for support billed annually or I could pay a one time fee of $79.00 where a support person would sit with me and walk me thru how to use the program. I know how to use the program, I don't need support. I wanted to know why it appears my account was setup incorrectly but to get an answer I have to pay outrageous fees for a mistake on how the account was set up?

Terrible. This company is refusing access to data and demanding that I upgrade from my free membership to a paid one. Incredibly rude on the phone. Total scam and cash-grab move. PS: Quickbooks has a FEATURE that does what this whole company does. Please go out of business faster.

(UPDATE and RESPONSE) : This comapny told me I can pay $50 for 3 days of access to my own data. That’s NOT FREE. PE's associate was quick to point out that after I pay them the $50 to access my account I will only be able to screen grab my information. Totally useless and poorly thought out service for dealing with something as important as payroll.

They used to have free account. Now they are required to have ePay activated for free account which will cost you $55 plus your id and bank informations! (Why?) Just say there is no free account!
They gave me 1 day notice to setup ePay or account would expire. Now my account is locked and I won't be able to download my old data!

Good things: they have good lower level support and have worked out the bumps.
Less good things: There was a security incident on March 8,2018 where one of their staff had an mail account compromised, leading to phishing emails being sent to their clients. My employees were affected. They had an initial communication on March 8 to affected clients but did not follow up re: cause, remediation and future prevention. Only the initial same-day email was sent. I had reached out to their senior leadership multiple times to respond to my concerns about security and compliance but for over a month received no response. My assertion is that if there is an issue related to security and there is no response from leadership re: security and compliance how can clients reasonably feel their financial information is safe? I finally received a response after I posted this review. Amongst other things, they said they have switched to Zendesk to avoid future email account compromise and are also pursuing ISO 27001. While I appreciate the challenges of a small and growing business, I hope they will learn from this incident and respond more quickly to valid requests from their customers and don't wait for a negative review to respond. Since their PaymentEvolution handles sensitive information, I would like to see a public (or at least public for clients) trust page where they 1) transparently talk about incidents, risks and their responses to them and the 2) activities they are pursuing to gain and strengthen trust like ISO 27001 certification and timeline. IMHO this would go a long way to show the commitment of their company to security and trust of their customers and can may even help them gain more business. I will update this review if they improve.

PaymentEvolution has made it possible for me to handle payroll for my small business in a cost efficient, professional and secure manner both at home and while abroad. Employing one person does not mean that my responsibility is less than that of a large company. Payroll functions must be handled accurately and in a timely manner. Purchasing a full scale commercial payroll program would be cost prohibitive. With PaymentEvolution I can process all forms of payments from salary to hourly wages, statutory holidays, all forms of vacation pay and more. All government withholding and remittances are calculated and available for reporting purposes, including Employment Insurance calculations on termination.
The on-line program means that when I am out of the country and receive my employee's timesheet I can record and calculate his pay cheque, send payment, and if necessary file a quarterly remittance.
On-line HELP and SUPPORT along with tutorials are exceptional.
Having retired from 30 years of employment in Management with a large firm, handling full scale payroll, I was thrilled to find PaymentEvolution for the small business I now have. I have used PaymentEvolution for six years and highly recommend it.
