Extremely poor customer service. No, let's change that... HORRIBLE customer service, during BOTH of my visits to this sleezy place. Disrespectful, blank-faced, rude servers who barely speak English. Why does this place hire non-English-speaking servers, when it is located in a Canadian mall where every other restaurant and shop has English-speaking clerks? In "Pearl Bayview Chinese Cuisine", for the customer, the simplest request turns into a chore of repeating yourself six times (I would like another napkin please. "What you mean -naaap-kinnn?) You know - this white thing (holding one up). "No understand. What you mean - naap-kinn? ") So then I ask to speak with the Manager (hoping I'll get lucky and end up with an employee who speaks English). "No permit speak with Manager. What you mean? ") etc.etc. You get the drift. Wow. The Pearl Bayview has the WORST customer service I've probably ever received in a Chinese restaurant in my life! Seriously. The servers ignore you (walking past you 6 times, while you waive vigorously to TRY to get their attention). They just go to the Japanese/Chinese customers... And IGNORE you if you are any other color. Double-Wow. Won't be going back to this dump. Trust me, the food quality won't matter to you at all, when you experience these rude, moron, blank-faced, empty-expression, non-English-speaking servers and their neglect. Guess you can see they really got me angry-enough to write this review of my experiences, and to warn others of what to expect.

I was here recently for lunch. Can someone help them figure out what portion size means. I ordered a chicken vegetable dish for lunch (from lunch special). Where's the chicken? I said ok.

Then next to me there was a woman on her lunch break on the phone discussing her rental issue (ease dropping is my skill) learning she either owns or works in the mall and is describing her sincere concern of her business and how it is not doing so well since Bayview has this "new manager". I feel for the tenants here, I do. Perhaps that is why they're cutting on my chicken? Inflation and cost of rent in Bayview is making for a bitter experience for customers.

Since it had been years from the last time we visited Toronto we asked a friend who lived there for a suggestion about a Good Chinese Restaurant where a party of nine could go. They suggested the Pearl Bayview Chinese Restaurant and we were all glad that they did. This restaurant is in a shopping mall, so you might have some hesitation, but every once in awhile you come across a Gem. From the Won Ton Soup (delicious) to the perfect egg rolls, Fried Rice, Shrimp with Cashew Nut, Fried Eggplant, and a number of other dishes, everything was delicious. I did notice that all of the other dinner parties were oriental and that I have found is a pretty good indication that the food is very much prepared traditionally. What can I say, we all enjoyed our dinners and had a very good time. I could recommend this restaurant with no hesitation.

A little Chinese restaurant located in Bayview Village. I have tried the other 2 in downtown, and first time to try this one.

I ordered steam spareribs and fried pork dumpling. The price is at the high end which is expected. The food quality is good, except too oily for the fried pork dumpling.

Recently dined at a delightful Chinese restaurant and indulged in a variety of delectable dishes. The salty egg, a classic appetizer, was a perfect balance of saltiness and richness. The bitter melon stir-fry showcased the vegetable's unique flavor, complemented by tender pieces of succulent pork in the sweet and tangy sweet and sour sauce. The zesty lime-infused chicken, with its refreshing citrus notes, was a standout dish that left a lingering tang on the palate. The stir-fried beef with Chinese greens was a delightful combination of tender beef strips and crisp, vibrant vegetables, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Lastly, the braised tofu in a rich, savory sauce was a satisfying vegetarian option, bursting with umami goodness.

Each dish was meticulously prepared, showcasing the chef's attention to detail and skill. The flavors were well-balanced, allowing the natural ingredients to shine through. The service was prompt and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable experience

We come here quite often. It is terrific dim sum in an elegant atmosphere. Excellent service, we highly recommend it.

$24 plus tax for a portion of crystal fold that can only feed one person. Complete rip off. Used to visit their harbourfront location which was always a pleasant experience and good value. First time visiting the bayview village location and the portion is disappointing. This is was a complete rip off.

Our server was rude and not knowledgeable about the food. We saw two kinds of mein noodles on the menu. Chow mein and e-mein noodles. I asked what kind of noodle e-mein was. Her answer was: ‘you won’t like it’ I said ‘why’ ‘the Canadians won’t like it’ was her answer.
I said ‘maybe we will, can you tell us the difference between those two meins? ’ She could not tell! ‘She said ‘you won’t like it’ again ‘but do you want to try it? ’
Luckily a Chinese lady customer who overheard us, explained perfectly how e-mein noodles were being cooked, its size and how the texture was. And we finally could decide what to order.

I love their food, but Pearl in Bayview Village should hire qualified, knowledgeable and better mannered waitresses.
Really disappointed.

Pretty good dim sum for bayview village. Their menu is quite confusing though. Certain items can only be made for lunch or dinner so make sure you ask before thinking you can have your favourite dish at the wrong time.

Average food and service, not to mention that it’s kind of crowded, no view, inside a mall. Over priced definitely.

A cozy little Chinese restaurant located inside Bayview Village. The wait times during lunch can be quite lengthy. Despite this, the dim sum is fantastic, although the portions are slightly smaller than what other Chinese restaurants in town offer. Nonetheless, the taste is excellent.

This was a bad food experience
Dumpling came over cooked and stuff to bamboo, ginger chicken had no flavour, it was salty and bland

This was by far the worst experience of picking duck I ever had and pearl management should be ashamed of themself for calling themself professionals who run business when they provide low quality service, serving clients with skins and not caring for client concerns. Pictures speak about it self and I hope the pearl chain save their face by supervising the chains more carefully. Rude staff bad food, and low quality service all around.

My partner had been here before but I wanted to try it for it’s convenient location at Bayview Shopping Mall. It’s a clean QUIET (it was when we’re there but we went past prime lunch time for dim sum) we ordered from the menu but I k no prices that prices for the dish sizes were not advertised in the menu. A bit worrying but we didn’t think to ask. The dishes that came were nice but not over the top for the pricing when we got the bill. The sticky rice was ok but hardly had anything in it. The best thing was the taro cups with pork and diced scallop, it was unusual and delectable but was so small it disappeared quickly. Only two to the order. We also had prawn and pork sui mai pretty standard fare. Also some sort of water chestnut dessert which came as gelled cubes with chopped bits of water chestnuts that added a slight crunch and not too sweet. I appreciated the calm clean and quiet ambiance. That was the main take away for me. But we ordered the 4 modest dishes and there was barely enough food to feed us. / with tip for two it was $65.00 won’t go back as it wasn’t good enough value for menu and the only spectacular but was the taro cups. You can see how small they were from the photo.

This is an attractive restaurant in a mall environment (their second location in the city). Unfortunately, the food is average and expensive (as with the first location). Service is friendly, but spotty and slow. Better options are easily available.

Great food! Sunday dimsum menu ranged from 8 to 11 per plate. Decent portions and good quality. We ordered rice and peppered shrimp off the main menu and it was super pricey but delicious. Honestly it's quality vs quantity. Service wasn't great but didn't bother us at all. We would definitely go back.

I ordered sautéed beef with eggplant, they brought a bowl of eggplant. I thought the beef is coming next…
Called the waitress and she said this the whole order.
Asked for the manger, she came and started stirring the bowl and found two little pieces of beef and rudely said “see? This is beef and eggplant” and left!
I live in the area, love Bayview village but I’ll never go to Pearl Bayview again.

Value is subjective, but you can't charge more and offer less portions and, most importantly, less flavour.

The good staff and service is where I'll start because Dim Sum restaurants can be lacking, but I am happy to say that the service was excellent.

This review will now head towards the negative as although the food was fine, it is not good enough for the price they charge or the slightly smaller portion sizes.

You'll see in the pictures what I ordered and my bill. You be the judge, but even if you say it's reasonable, you'll find better taste at other Dim Sum restaurants.

My aunt and I came in for lunch. The food was alright, but when it came to paying it was the issue. The lady hovered over me while I was making a transaction. Right after, she kept asking for tips. Saying that I need to give her extra cash or another transaction. Did not listen to me when I said no, she kept on pressuring us to tip to the point it was rude. After we gave her a tip, she and her co-worker kept looking over at us until we left.

Food was just ok. My husband and I like to share meals, not for financial reasons but for health reasons and eating less. They were not very receptive to that. The minimum is $20 order but that was fine with us. They brought us a dish that we didn't realize wasn't part of our order and then came and took it away saying this isn't part of your lunch if you want it you'll have to pay for it. We didn't want it, we had just thought it was part of the lunch we ordered. Just not a good vibe in there, manager not friendly once we mentioned sharing a meal. Food not any better than a food court to be honest. Plus an iced tea or soft drink is $5 for a small glass so beware.

Subpar food with little flavour. Peking duck is gamey. Portions are smaller than comparable Chinese restaurants.
