Amazing customer service, fresh oyster, fish, reasonable price. Hidden gem in Ottawa. If you are new in the city or only visiting, you must go here. No kidding
This is a fantastic place to grab fresh salmon, seafood pie or our favorite Cod Cakes. Love the vibe too. Plus it is beside Farmboy so UBER convenient.
Lobster bisque was just ok, nothing special. My shrimp curry dish was flavourful and had a reasonable number of shrimp. But please take the tails off when serving a dish with sauce. So annoying to have to do it yourself. Service was really, really slow and we had to flag down another waitress to make requests.
We come here often, most recently for New Year’s Eve supper, and all I can say is wow! Awesome food, great service, and all around a great place to eat. I have taken family there, and everyone has the same reaction: “love it. " I cannot recommend enough; you will not be disappointed.
Had an absolutely amazing dinner with family at the Pelican Seafood Market recently. The food was perfectly prepared and incredibly fresh. I'll definitely go back again.
Fabulous. Good, unpretentious food. However, John, our server, made all the difference. Delightful, what a joy to have him around at a dinner table. Thanks for a wonderful lunch, we'll be back.
Fish and chips made with haddock and panko + fries and coleslaw. Fish was well prepared and hot. Fries were hard. Coleslaw, alright. Fish tacos, fries, and salad. Fish tacos were very good, fries could have been hotter, and small salad was good.
Wonderful place with fresh seafood. You dint want to sit in the middle of the restaurant it’s incredibly noisy and you hear ever scrape of a fork. A table by the walls is a more enjoyable experience.
Our first visit here could have been much better. The lobster bisque lacked flavour, while the coleslaw I received with my fish and chips contained plastic. Despite informing the staff, there was no apology or compensation offered. We would be okay with the prices if the quality of the food and service were higher.
Second time here, and was just as good as the first time. So far from oysters and mussels, it's all been phenomenal. Service is friendly and attentive, highly recommend if you are in Ottawa.
Was just there for a birthday dinner. Service was phenomenal (shoutout Terry). She was amazing, very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be returning for some more crab and oysters! Good food, good time.
Super Clean, very friendly staff! Big variety on the menu, coconut shrimp are highly highly recommended, Red Thai curry mussels were delicious and the Caesar salad was super fresh.
Overall it was a great experience, worth the drive down!
A truly special place; delicious fresh quality food. Charming and quaint venue. Their staff was both super friendly and highly professional, especially our server Leah! We will be going back as much as we can and please try their chowder!
Really impressed with this place! The staff friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and prices reasonably considering Ottawa is not on coast. Unfortunately my plate quite large and I had no room for dessert. Lots of free parking too!
I came here with my family for my mom's birthday and it was amazing. The food was great and same with the service. My mom wants it to be a birthday tradition to come here every year:) The lobster was fantastic and oh my god the maple creme broulee. No words. We also got the tower as an appetizer.so good.
Amazing fresh fish with wonderful service and an interesting menu. The place is clean and organized. Our kids enjoyed the Halibut and fries and calamari. We enjoyed the North Rustico Lobster-shrimp Roll & Red Thai Shrimp. Yummy
This place has a really high rating and deservedly so! Food was incredible! Prices were reasonable and portions were larger. Will definitely be back anytime I'm in Ottawa. If you enjoy seafood do yourself a favor and check this place out. They even have a cute seafood market attached
We just ate lunch at the Pelican, for my husband’s birthday, we had the mussels in white wine, they were excellent, our entrees were the fish tacos, the snow crab, and fish and chips. All were cooked to perfection. The staff were polite and efficient. They surprised my husband with a creme brûlée for his birthday, will definitely return the next time we visit Ottawa
The server was very nice, professional and courteous, but their food offering lacked in taste The lobster basque was underwhelming and hardly had any chunks of lobster and the base was very bland Their fish and chips was okay but the fish hardly had any taste, texture was good and cooked correctly and the crust was fantastic, maybe I should have gone with their halibut option as opposed to haddock
I must say the service was good. First I ordered the salmon corn chowder with smoked bacon. It was very good but I didn't taste any smoked bacon. I then ordered the Haddock & Chip's. The haddock was nice and firm, but the batter was mostly soft with some crispy pieces at each end. The fries were great. The Cole slaw could of been a bit more Creamy with some pepper in there. Overall compared to other sea food restaurant's in ottawa I would give this restaurant a 3.5 to 4 star. This is the first time I have been to this restaurant
It's ok. I find it similar to red lobster. I had the surf and turf and found the batter to be a little too oily. My wife had the lobster and shrimp roll and we found this way overpriced since it's not really stuffed well. Considering there's a mix of shrimp in this, it should not be a $29 dish. Wife also had the fish soup but very little fish in it. My lobster bisque was lacking flavor. Service is friendly.
Merci.
My partner and I visited this restaurant on a whim, but it was an excellent decision and I'm certain we'll be back in no time! I ordered the fish and chips while my partner got the pasta, and we shared the calamari. Everything was absolutely delicious, but the pasta was on a whole other level. The sauce that accompanied the calamari completely elevated the experience, giving a lightness to the kick of the seasonings. The portions were large but light, leaving us feeling full but not overstuffed. The atmosphere was fun and comfortable, the prices were reasonable, honestly there's nothing I could complain about! We left with plenty of leftovers, and look forward to our next dining experience here! If you haven't eaten here yet, I cannot recommend it enough!
This was, by far the best fish/seafood that I’ve ever had in any restaurant. The fries are amazing too. We had the house made ice cream for dessert. Common! Crazy good! Server was incredible. We’ll be back! The seafood market offers a wide variety of choices at great prices. Well done! Pete
Pelican never disappoints. For the first time I used their order for pick-up service and when I arrived it was in my car trunk within 5 minutes. I brought home 4 large lobsters, 2 large salads and 2 garlic butters The butter was melted stovetop. Since the lobster was packaged in two lidded aluminum trays, all we had to do was remove the lining paper from the trays and rubber bands from the claws and place the trays in the oven. Everything was absolutely delicious! Thanks Pelican!
If you live in Ottawa or are visiting like us, you you have to eat at Pelican for some of the best seafood. The staff are helpful, friendly and funny. Everything we ordered was fresh, like it was pulled out of the sea when we placed our order. The oysters and jumbo shrimp were so good I almost wish the platter was endless. I could have eaten the PEI muscles with garlic and white wine sauce to myself but then I wouldn't have had room for all the other food we ordered; that sauce was packed with flavor. The calamari had a great batter that wasn't to thick or thin, it had just the right crisp. The Korean fried shrimp were large and bursting with flavour. The halibut fish and chips in beer batter was light crispy and flaky, which I can say is one of the best I've ever tried. A caesar is a perfect drink with this meal. My one recommendation, don't eat anything all day if you're planning on eating here.
I was waiting for my lobster more then 30 minutes. Answer was - cooking! Cooking! In 45 minutes I got that - hardly warm lobster with dark color, I supposed that lobster come to me fromr freezer and microwave. That all looks like cheating customer. P. S. That lobster was precooked long time ago. It was not fresh obviously. I am permanent customer and never got lobster like it happened last time. And last time I didn't left any tips, that first time in my life. Also I told about that in social media, hopefully people would take lesson from my bad experiences
To celebrate our 52nd wedding anniversary I ordered two lobsters from the seafood market. Not only were they impeccably cooked and cracked, but the clerk, on learning of our celebration, gave us two complimentary chocolate mousses, which were, to use an over-used phrase, to die for - real, real chocolate - delicious with a bottle of Cremant de Loire on our summer-evening verandah.
Order from here often as their take-out game is on point! Today we had 3doz shucked oysters that were delicious and excellent presentation, a doz shrimp (large and meaty) and the steamed mussels - always excellent! Highly recommend.
My Lobster roll was delicious, but their normally delicious fries were cool and probably under a heater. They were very busy. Disappointed in the fries
Best fish (halibut) & chips. Have only done curbside but looking forward to being out of lockdown so that I can experience it the way it was meant to be.
