Spent all night there in severe screaming pain in my right side after going in the ambulance they sat me in the waiting room for like 5 hours.when I was brought in they didn't do blood work or tests just said they don't know and to come back if it keeps hurting.this hospital will let you die

Why doesn't the Emerg implement a patient feedback plan? This is an effective and objective way to improve patient care, outcomes, and to evaluate patterns that may be negative or positive for patients, families, and staff. Sometimes the data can reveal patterns that were not observed by the team and this can save lives. It certaintly might benefit the Emerg and community. Our family had a really negative experience and follow up has been worse. There is a failure in follow up care, with lack of communication between the Emerg, the GP and family caregivers. "Come back to the Emerg" is not great treatment for seniors, whereas, a cardiology consult that tweaks medication and prevents a devastating stroke is treatment. Paper files and poor charting can limit effective follow through as family can't access reports easily and staff do not have immediate access to recommendations or results without the paper file. We should strive to keep our seniors healthy and independent. If staff suffer burnout, are frustrated, exhausted, angry, or depressed it impacts everyone and will result in patient complaints. Denial and failure to acknowledge and address those concerns in an objective science based manner results in a toxic environment and ineffectual leadership. Patients suffer.

First time in this hospital not worth recommending or praising due to the lack of wheelchair being accessible, the waiting room is ridiculously small for the fact it’s crowded by far, paramedics are forced to enter and exit through said waiting area. Not to mention the fact I’ve sat here for 4 hours now and NOT a soul has been taken in the back to be checked out. Not once has anyone moved to be called, I get being backed up but this is ridiculous anymore.

I've had two surgeries at Smiths Falls and am really impressed with the commitment of the nurses and doctors under trying circumstances

One of the worst places to go. My partner brought our toddler here because of vomiting and couldn't hold anything down. The doctor, Dr.pierce in fact, told my partner that we shouldn't have brought our child in yet and should have waited longer to bring our child in. The doctor was a bit rude when saying this to my partner. My partner felt bothered and offended by this and made to feel like we did something wrong. This doctor should be ashamed of themselves.
The next day my sister brings my other child who has been vomiting and can't hold nothing down. The same doctor does the same thing to my sister who is helping my partner and I with our sick children. What kind of hospital and what kind of doctor makes a parent feel as if they have done something wrong for worrying about their child. Very shameful behaviour that was displayed on these two nights.

My first time at Smith’s Falls Hospital. I was in for a colonoscopy. It was very busy that day, the nurses were dealing with a huge backlog of not only colonoscopy patients, but a host of cataract surgeries. My procedure was delayed quite a bit which allowed me to observe the staff for some time. I can honestly say that each and every staff member treated me and all the other patients with kindness, respect and a what I felt was a true caring for our well-being. There were a difficult patients, but each was handled expertly. Thanks to everyone and keep up the great work - I know you are going above and beyond every day.

Smiths falls hospital staff and doctors have always been amazing anytime I’ve had to go to emergency. Tonight I had to go to SF hospital and Doctor Suttie, was on in emergency. He’s an amazing doctor. I was seen rather quickly. I was back home in less than 2 hours. Thank you!

I've been waiting two weeks for an xray/ultrasound at SF. The system is broken. My shoulder is probably at this point healing the wrong way as I can't even get physio in a timely manner anywhere.

Busy but very efficient for everyone but my father. Said she would send him to xray with paper work and a wheelchair. Never saw her or anyone again. Said we were still in the Q when asked about the paperwork. Left after 3 hours.

They get paid outrageous amounts of money to be very slow at doing actual work. Shouldn't take hours apon hours to triage someone then bring em in to check out.

I highly recommend receiving treatment elsewhere! The staff is extremely disrespectful and the wait time is absolutely absurd! You could receive better health care absolutely anywhere else.

Wait times are terrible, came into emergency with 2 people ahead of me and have been wait 4 hours and only 1 person has been seen so far

ICU nurses overnight are top notch and compassionate to the patient AND to the family

Cafeteria food is homemade.

Went there today for a medical reason, had to go to emergency. The staffs, nurses and doctors were great. They took great care in terms of examining and providing comfort. God bless you all.

My daughter was here for surgery today and I do not recommend this hospital. This was her 3rd surgery this year so we’re not new to process. We drove 3 hours to the hospital this morning for her surgery only to get there and the nurse said that I could not even wait in the hospital during her surgery that I could “go to the mall or go park in the parking lot across the road”. Why on earth would I go to the mall while my child is in surgery? I sat in the parking lot for an additional 3 hours during her surgery. Then the same nurse called to say she was done and in recovery, she would give my daughter the discharge instructions and call me when she’s ready to go. I asked for them to call me so I could hear the discharge instructions since she’s only 14 and coming off of anesthestic and wouldn’t remember anything. The nurse said we’re really busy up here but she would see if I could come up for a minute to get the instructions. More time passed and finally she calls back and said she was discharged and I was to go get a wheelchair and go upstairs to pick her up. That was it. No instructions other than a piece of paper. My daughter said afterwards that she was so scared going in on her own that she was crying in the bathroom while they forced an unwanted and unneeded additional test on her. Never again will we be back. On the plus side emerg was empty so I guess if you have no other options you shouldn’t have to wait forever in emerg. I highly recommend Kingston general or Hotel Dieu. They go above and beyond and have respect for their patients and families.

An atrocious, unkept, badly staffed, hospital. Choose differently while you still can also, they seem to forego having people actually show their proof of vaccination, and are pretty loose on even having masks on in the waiting room of a hospital.
