Pet O Pets - Mississauga

I recently purchased a replacement motor for my FX4 filter. I made the purchase on May 1st. A MONTH LATER IT HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. How is is possible that’s a NEW motor stops working a MONTH after the purchased date. It’s very disappointing since this item is hard to acquire & isn’t very cheap to replace. I emailed the company in hope that someone could help or explain why this item is no longer working but have yet to hear back from anyone. I sent another email. I hope to hear from them soon. I am located in the United States and took my chances ordering from this company. My mistake! I hope no one makes the same mistake as me. My advice just look for an alternative store to get a replacement part & don’t bother giving them your money.

I can understand why this store has some low ratings… First, the place is not clean. All the products were coated in dust, and there is a very strong odour. I didn't last long in the store. Prices are high as well. But, the hardest thing to witness was all the birds crammed into small plastic boxes/cages. There was five cockatiels in one of the "cages. " The birds looked sick. I would not be comfortable taking one home. I left without buying anything. Didn't feel right.

I have been going to Pet O Pets for a few years now and they are absolutely fantastic. The owner is so knowledgeable with all animals and is amazing with my parrot. He truly shows love to the animals and I highly Recommend if anyone is looking at buying a pet, especially a parrot. He grooms my parrot every month. They are a family run business and I love supporting family businesses instead of the big chain companies. Both their Mississauga and Burlington locations are amazing.

I went into the store at 5pm and was told that the "main" part of the store closes at 5, i walked around didn't get any help, the guy working there seemed really annoyed by me being there, didn't answer any question but told me to go to the Bovaird location as they have more fish, overall just did not seem interested in helping with anything at all.horrible customer experience and i also saw him walk away from a open cage which led to a bird falling out and dropping to the ground which he just picked up and put back, didnt even check to see if the poor guy was ok.so not sure about the quality of their stock, nothing interesting at this store that you cant find at a local pet smart

Thought it would be an improvement of the oakville location but is much worse. Animals are in questionable conditions, the smell is awful even by petstore standards and the merchandise is generally overpriced, no reason to go here rather than order online for your exotic pet needs. The layout is also needlessly tight and awkward, space could be better used considering most shelves are not that full. Cannot speak to the knowledge of the proprioter but would say they are more geared towards birds than reptiles. Probably with a deep clean and re-arranging could be a nice store but as is wouldn't recommend supporting this business.
Aditionally should mention livestock is overpriced, same as the oakville location where they were peddling a scrawny halmahara bluetongue for 400$ (not reflective of the animal's worth in that condition), which sat in the same corner for more than a year, I'm pretty sure they did not clean the glass once as there was a lot of mineral build up. Could tell it was the same lizard, also question its origin as it was very flighty, (not helped by the fact that it was kept close to the ground where humans most likely seem like predators to it). As a bluetongue owner, very sad to see an animal in this state, almost wanted to buy him out of pity but the price point is basically extortion and he would likely have been replaced with another one anyway. I understand charging petstore prices for merch but please don't ask prices like these for unsocialized and malnourished animals.
Would love to see these stores improve, I'm sure their business would be better off for it.

A wide range of live birds seen on amazing forum of Pet O Pets. The landlord also have an attractive personality.

After purchasing a Netherland dwarf rabbit from this store, i wouldn't recommend anyone else do the same, and the only reason i gave them 1 star is because of how fast they found a rabbit for me. When u purchase a rabbit from this store you have no information on what you're going to get. You don't know if its male or female, you have no info about its personality and you don't even know its age. The rabbit i bought from them has a pesonality that I really dont like and i called them asking if i could return it. I was told no. So they picked out a bad rabbit and now im stuck with this problem because they won't even take it back at no cost to them. My advice is to use a site like kijiji. Not only will you know if its a male or female, but you can actually ask questions about the animals personality as well as seeing what the animal looks like, which you don't get from petopets. You have no idea what the animal will look like that you have to pay for in advance. On top of all that, you'd pay about 1/4 the price of what petopets sells you the animal for. I paid $65 for this problem rabbit and could have got one off kijiji for $20 or less

Needed live feeders but I refuse to give this place money. The animals were kept in horrifying conditions. Rodents beyond overcrowded and poor baby rabbit was kept in a tiny cage in a back corner by itself. Let it smell my hands and started licking my fingers, practically begging for food. Can’t believe a place like this is allowed to exist.

Very knowledgeable staff helped us today at the store, answered all questions. Highly recommend

I've been going to this pet shop for a few years now. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. I can always find what I need and they have a wide selection of pet food and supplies.

I would recommend this pet shop to anyone who has pets.

Pet O Pets is by far the best place to go for your birds. They offer great costumer service and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I visit Pet O Pets every other month and leave fully satisfied every single time. I would recommend this store to absolutely everybody.

Great service! Taught me so much more about the proper health of guinea pigs and the foods to feed them.

Their website makes the store seem like they really care about their animals and have really good customer service. I called to speak to someone about making an appointment and was immediately put off when they answered. They were talking to someone else when they answered and didn't even stop to ask me to hold on for a few moments or anything of the sort. I was waiting for them for about a minute before they addressed me at all. If they're treating a potential paying customer like that then I don't think they'd be treating their animals any better. I will not be supporting this business.

0 stars if we could 10: 20 still not open then comes in and asks through door what we want instead of opening and allowing us into store. We advised we are there for the birds told us it opens at 11. Needless to say won’t be getting our business. I hope someone from animal control actual takes a look at this place and makes sure they are treating these poor animals right. Seemed like he was hiding something so unfortunate for those animals. Warning would not buy from someone who can’t be nice to customers who want so spend money in their store imagine how they treat those poor animals. Awful place

Very unprofessional owner. I called the store to ask how much they charge for nail trim for my eclectus parrot but the owner simply wouldn’t give that information over the phone. When I arrived at his store he tells me it’s $60 and I am not eligible for a discount because my membership is suspended as I haven’t purchased anything from him in the last 6 months. He took the bird to a back room and was finished in 5 minutes at the most. This was my last visit as I already found a place which charges a fraction for this type of service. I rather drive few extra minutes and not have to deal with this dishonest service. It would be nice if he initially told me the price.

A small pet shop compare with other big chain per stores But it had its own style n charn. Lot of nice n healthy birds to chose. Good guppy fish. I bought three of them very healthy n pretty will definately go back in near future.

Animals are life, everyone should be very serious to treat. When you do your homework and know what you are capable of before you consider keeping an animal, the spirit of being an owner towards animals is worth learning from.

Very terrible experience. This place not only sells their pets but they want you to buy everything else from them. I went to buy a baby conure, and the guy there would not let me take the bird unless it is his cage that he's selling. I had a cage and when I took it, (mind you "I already paid for my bird online") he said he can't let me take the bird, he refused because according to him my cage is not appropriate, only his cage is. I went to another pet store and my cage was fine, got 2 conures in the same cage he didn't want me to use. The lady there does not have any manners whatsoever. Worst pet store experience. I wouldn't even give 1 star.

These people have no manners especially the lady there, went there to buy a bird and she yelled that i cant come I need to buy online. Thats all I will say for now because i wont advise anyone to buy from there unless you are buying everything else from them and thats the only way they talk nicely. Worst experience ever.

The animals are in bad shape, the parrots have no space, they are all crowded together and they don’t have the proper establishment to take care of the animals

Very terrible experience this place looks like a den for criminals. I came just to see a bird and they told me no don't come in until you pay $400 first they said you have to pay first before you see the bird. Very rude people there. Do not go there at all. Go to petsmart or even petvalu they are at least nice human beings. Please also report this place to the city or the animal humane society.

I would give no star if I had an option. Don't know whether they are even interested to do any business. The owner and staff is extremely rude. They don't even let you in. If everything was done online then why would you have this store. Just mention pick up option. We have more better stores and brands who are courteous with customer and get pets. How are we gonna buy if we do not see pet physically. Online is a different experience all together. Not all customers are comfortable with online. Driving all the way to get such service and rude replies. Please do not waste your time getting here.

Came in for a fish tank that i pre ordered online. The lady that was there was very flustered and called the owner only to then Infront of me tell the person on the other line that she tried telling me something and I wasn't listening and that she was going to have me call him directly. I then called him only to have a very standoffish person on the other line who proceeded to explain things to me that I didn't inquire on.

She later apologized saying that the days been full of difficult customers which totally makes sense given my experience with this place. I ended up going to Big Al's. I had to pay more but I felt good about my purchased and valued as a customer.

Knowledgeable staff. Helped me with setting up a complex enclosure for a red eyed tree frog rescue. I appreciate they are family business that provides superior customer service!

These owners do an outstanding job of caring for these animals that soon become our pets. They are so patient and supportive in the care and transfer of these babies from their care to the care of a new family. Worst customer service ever. The guy in the shop was very rude and seemed like he is not willing to help customers at all.

Worst customer experience! I had a list of items and pets I was interested to buy. The ladie had to look for someone to answer simple questions. Maybe she was busy, but the guy who attended was directing me to go to their website to look at the pets I already saw but I wanted to make sure the pets at the store was not in Burlington store. The person never let me speak, keep interrupting me every second and never let me finish. Very stubborn and not able to answer simple questions like. " is it possible to check on a pet I want to get? ". Yes, I understand COVID-19 restrictions but not an excuse to stop helping customer to check somewhere else like your website.find ways to help your customers from social distance, wearing mask properly and customer service. Other store do a better job presenting the cage, birds, animals and even accessories! Learn from your own competitors.

We got 2 budgies from here. Owner is really nice and provides all the information & guidance you need to select your pet. Good place to buy a bird parrot etc. Highly recommended.

This place is shady. I helped my friend get a guonea pig here and the guinea pig looked so stressed out with fur patches removed. Someone told me that Pet O Pets have been reported to before.

Will never go back there ever again. When I ask them for the price of a parriot. They told me to look it up on line. He was to busy to even give me the time of day. Busy texting to his buddy. Very bad service. I will get my parriot else where that want the business. It seems they do not to be in business much longer with attitude like this.

I bought a pair of rats for my 7 year old son. Unfortunately, one of the rats died an untimely demise but the store manager remembered us and was quite nice about it. He gave us a new one free-o-charge although I did not have a receipt and the store had no obligation to do so. It was not an expensive gesture on their part but it meant a lot to our family.

Wowowow. I read the bad reviews and decided just to give this store a chance since every place gets bad reviews once in a while but I definetly see why everyone feels the way they do about this store. I was so excited for this I woke up & I called the missisauga location (because their website where u can order small animals and get it 'delivered' says that you need to call them to ensure availability). A man with an accent answered and I proceeded to ask him the questions I had, I tried to ask him about the delivery option and he tried to say there was a 'special' charge for home deliveries.so I said is this 'special' charge included on the website because I shop online all the time and I know what delivery fees should look like. He kept saying its a 'special' price because they are animals so I am like as long as this price was already on the website and will be included on the website like any extra charge I am good. He interrupted me on the phone as I was explaining that then beat around the bush to eventually say the price is included on the website.even though he was opposing everything I said he eventually beat around the bush to say it is on the website (even though he literally couldve just said that nicely). So I said thats fine Im cool with that (im just not cool with people adding extra charges that weren't included in the price on the website and the way he made it sound was as if it was gonna be extra on top of that) so I tried to clarify that with him and thats where he started to get an attitude. He mostly got an attitude because he wouldnt let me finish my sentence before he could dominate the conversation (even though I know exactly what I needed to ask and all he had to do was answer). Regardless, I proceeded to ask him about the guinea pigs that I specifically added to my order on the site (because it says call to MAKE SURE that those specific ones are available). Everytime I ask "okay and the guinea pigs I clicked on the website. (yall he didnt even let me get the names of the specific pigs out) everytime I mention the pigs and not even finish my question hes like " we have high demand and guinea pigs come in every week so it will be ready in a week". But.you dont even know which guinea pigs I want out of the like 8 different types you have? Either way he interrupted me so much the phone call became pointless because he wanted to dominate the conversation like he was the one who needed info lmaoo.

Regardless, read the reviews and you will see for yourself. I am not sure if this is a regular business or family business but that man definetly needs to be reported to the right people. Im sure he is the one replying rude replies to the bad comments because he is rude in real life. I was over him so I cussed him out on the phone because how do you work for a precious pet store and you are such a bitter human being. The person who replies to reviews keeps saying their business is so great that 1 review wont stop their 'sales' but I imagine this is an overinflated ego talking because there is no way anybody is going to that store, meeting that rude man and not leaving immediately after.

I ordered a product from them before Christmas and when I got it and opened the box about a dozen cockroaches scattered out of the box in all different directions of my house, I got some before they took off but now I have a cockroach problem at home, when I called them and told them the problem the blew me off, I'm in the process of getting a lawyer now but taking a bit longer cause of covid cause I want them to pay for a exterminator for my cockroach problem, don't ever order anything from them

Not the best experience.customer service is terrible like really terrible. I would avoid going there and hit up other pet stores cause these guys will rip you off if you not intelligent enough for them. Take it from me and avoid.

I too wasted my time going there and gas. I imagine the positive reviews are fake. Don't waste your time and money.

The staff doesnt pay attention to u unless u got $ in hand. The big bird up front is not freindly. Space to walk around isnt there.

Everytime i view there stock the pour animals are stressed to the point of dying. So u question if it will make it home or not

Great experience. We pre ordered for pickup, was ready in half an hour and the employee was so extremely helpful with the whole experience. We got a cutie little white winter hamster and all of the goodies. Definitely recommend for a first hamster experience, they're very knowledgeable and will recommend all of the right supplies you need.

Website says that have dogs in their stores for purchase. Drove 40 minutes to the Mississauga location only to be told when I got here that they don't have dogs. Wasted time and gas! I do NOT recommend this store/ brand!

Refused to allow entry for absolutely no reason about 3 weeks back. Arrogant staff. Would advise against visiting this location. Save your money. I was prepared to spend money and surpise my depressed mother with a little bird, but clearly the prejudice was real. Your prejudice will result in your bankruptcy. A potential long term customer lost. Ta ta!

Was just in the burlington pet o pets, and there was a guy cleaning the cages and I just want to let you guys know he was hitting the ferrets with the litter pan to try and move them I understand they were in the way but please don’t let him hit them with the litter pan multiple times there is another way to move them out of the way. Thank you!

Went in there and quickly left as there was someone coughing their lungs out. Not sure if it’s Covid but I feel sorry for the employees. Staff is knowledgeable but a bit condescending. I’ve reported the coughing incident to Public Health.

Purchased an aquarium online. While cleaning it I discovered a small crack. Called them and Raza's customer serivice was outstanding. Not only the return was hassle free but he was very courteous and understanding. Got it replaced the same day. Highly recommend this petstore.

Would not recommend going here. Keep scrolling and you will see all the negative reviews. The female working there was very rude. She talked to us in a very condescending manner. I wanted to purchase a lovebird and she kept forcing me to buy additional items (seeds, clay, vitamins). I tried to explain to her that I already have these items but she was very persistent. I understand that they care for the well-being of the birds, which I do appreciate. Regardless, the customer service was horrible. At one point the girl called one of my family members grumpy. I left the store following this comment without making a purchase.
I should have checked the reviews before coming to this place. The responses of the owner to many of these reviews are very rude and inherently reflects the kind of service you will receive. Maybe instead of replying back to the reviews they should actually address the concerns voiced by customers. I honestly feel bad for the animals.

Absolutely terrible service! Pushing to sell you unusefull items. Next day do not allow return or exchange it. All boxes was sealed and unopened.

What a joke. Customer service was terrible. I trusted the experts and I was wrong. I am not an expert. I want my pet store to tell me what I need to best take care of my pet. All they wanted was the sale. They where selling a product that was not suitable for my pet and they had no problem me taking that home knowing it wasn't suitable. Shame on you.
