This store is small but the manage to have it well organized and offer a good selection of items. Some stuff members are more knowledgeable then others. One warning - if you are running to get there right before closing, you might be out of luck. I personally experienced it twice. I saw stuff inside but the door was closed 5 min earlier and they don't let you in.
The staff is kind and the product selection is pretty nice for cat owners even with such a ‘small store’ (compared to suburb ones anyway). Not inexpensive, but I figure that has more to do with inflation than anything else…
Not helpful. The young girl who “offered” help did not have any knowledge about the products I was asking questions about and only repeated what she heard from me couple of seconds ago. The other girl at the cashier just looked into my eyes and did not say hello back, I wonder if these people are trained to greet a customer at all. Cute little shop though.
Ok store, often runs out of stuff so online is better. I don't know if it's the owner or the staff that is overly paranoid with covid, I wonder if they are vaccinated because there's no reason to be that much scared and close the store at every little outbreaks if you follow health guidelines and get your shots. I'm all about health safety but you need to find a balance and clearly they haven't. Very inconvenient so instead of walking north, I walk south and I've taken my business to Global Pet Foods further down on Yonge. Higher chances of not getting face to face with a closed door:) All the best!
Unpleasant experience at this store. She lied to me on the phone about having items and forced me to put on a mask against my will. I recommend going to a different Pet Valu.
We bought a cat bed on sale, took it home and after one sniff of the bed out cat rejected it. Our local Pet Valu store at young and green lane would not take it back from me a loyal customer. I'll be shopping at Pet Smart for now on.
Just had quite an unpleasant experience at this store. The cashier that was helping me, treated me like I was trying to commit a fraud of some sort, and I was just there to redeem a manufacturer coupon. They wasted my time and came up with weird excuse to just not let me redeem that coupon. It was my first time at this location and definitely not impressed.
They let our dog shop with us! I know that's pretty much standard now in pet stores but.it is still pretty cool. IDK am i not allowed to be excited about that? Owning an anxious dog, it's nice to be able to take her into stores with us.
Have never seen such awful customer service by the staff at this location. Lied to my wife that a product was not made by the manufacturer, so we walked next door and bought it. Then had staff refuse to serve as as we “did not order it online”. Avoid this location at all cost. There is better stores in the area to support.
It seems this store is only doing curbside pick-up for online orders, which they take over an hour to process.
I asked to buy a bag of treats at the door, since they hadn’t processed my order yet (a single bag of treats) and was rudely told no. Disappointing customer service: (i won’t be coming back
The past several visits here have been nothing but miserable. The staff clearly hate working here and in turn we've recieved some of the worst customer service I've ever had. We've had staff yell at us in front of a crowd of customers for asking if they have a product in stock, have had staff ignore us, and have been met with a serious attitude by almost every staff. We tend to visit frequently but I can say after visiting today and once again being met with an attitude we will be taking our business elsewhere.
I've had continuous subpart customer service at this location but just had the most ridiculous response. I called from home placed an order for dog food to pick up. When I got there I called to say I had arrived for my order and asked for a roll of poop bags because I had forgotten some. She said "sorry new policy we don't take orders at the door". But I already have an order? She said no sorry. So I asked her: " I have to walk back home and call you and walk back? " And she said " yep".
I can understand not wanting to overwhelm the door, while people make their orders etc but I think certain cases really require just a use of a little bit of logic depending on the case.
And please, don't answer this review with a silly justification.
Absolutely the WORST service of any Pet Valu in Toronto. Rudeness rules here! With curbside pick up I’d called my order in. Upon arriving at the store, with a locked door, no staff within immediate sight, I looked for a doorbell and found none, so I knocked on the glass door. I was surprised that no one seemed to be keeping an eye on the sidewalk to see if customers were waiting. Then a salesperson came to the door, opened it ever so slightly and pointed to the sign on the door indicating “call to order” and I nodded, indicating yes I did but since she had uttered no words at all, no greeting, just a finger pointing to the sign, how could she know I had already ordered? She never asked me anything at all, she just assumed I didn’t know to order in advance and then unceremoniously proceeded to close and locked the door while I stood there 6 feet away, wondering “WTF? ” I knocked again and a second incompetent salesgirl comes out, opens the door and I explained what just happened. It was very noisy due to traffic and I with a mask I raised my voice a bit to make sure I was heard and the first thing out of her mouth is “don’t be rude! ” OMG, the irony! Then the first rude one sticks her head out the door again with an incomprehensible litany of reasons and excuses for why she was rude and all I could say was “I just want my pet food! It took at least 10 minutes to do a 2-minute pick and it rattled me, I wasn’t expectant any drama with it! Won’t be going back there ever again.
Had a great experience today! Didn't realize it was curbside pick up only but I told them what I needed, they brought a couple of options of each item for me to select - I quickly made my selections and was on my way in less than 10 min total. The staff are super friendly and so helpful!
Please check the items the staff hand you/recommend you before you buy! Multiple times we have gone in and asked for very specific cat food and we were givien dog food instead. We once asked for their freeze dired children liver treats for cats and was given dog beef treats witch made our cat sick and throw up. According to them it was "the same product" witch is intensely false. They don't seem to actually listen to the customers requests and hand them whatever. I don't want anyones else's kitties to get sick from dog food! The staff there have been frequently standoffish and straight up ignore customers witch is a shame as the store used to be amazing. Five years ago it was a great store with lovely and helpful staff, unfortunately that has changed. I really hope they get their old management back.
I bought my cat a few catnip toys for his birthday and he is absolutely obsessed with them. Very thankful to the saleswoman who helped pick them out for me. Whenever I go with my dog they always give us a little treat. They are all so nice and knowledgeable.
Two stars, only because there was a lovely guy who helped me a week ago over the phone for nature’s miracle stuff and when i came to the store he had a very genuine smile, was so sweet and even gave my pup a treat. I have bad anxiety that messes with me verbally and he was soooo understanding and helped me figure out what i needed calmly. Thank you!
Post covid, i would come here lots because its 5 minutes away but the ladies who work here are rude/have some kind of attitude towards me. They tend to avoid me, I stopped shopping here and went to Globals where i get better customer service.
I will be coming back now only when i see this gentleman in store/if he’s doin the calls cause covid yada yada.
Awesome, helpful staff and a great selection to boot! They were very honest and provided great advice when we were trying to make a decision between which winter coat to get for our dog.
Convenient midtown location. Big enough store to stock everything your pet needs, but small enough to get in and out quickly. They offer name brand, vet quality pet foods, with some value-priced options. My dog wiggles happily whenever we go in and the staff are super friendly.
A nice neighbourhood pet supplies store. Plenty of stock and selection in this little store. The staff are always helpful and pleasant, and they love talking about animals. We enjoy dropping by just to see the cat they've got up for adoption. A nice place to shop or just browse.
I like the fact that they love cats as well as dogs. I have been a cat and dog lover all my life (all animals as a matter of fact), and have been mommy to both, so I 100% KNOW that they are equally as important, loving, loyal, affectionate, and incredible, and both equally deserve all the love back we can give them. Unfortunately some “only” dog lovers can be extremely hurtful to cat lovers. (Yet they would be offended and do get offended if people were to do that to them and their dogs). I believe that people who do not know that both the love from a cat and dog and given back is equal, really love themselves and not their pet, wanting to believe only they have that something special and not others. Of course not all who love and have dogs are like that, but I have had far too many hurtful experiences with those who are that ignorant. This store caters and cares about both, and shows it. I have had so far only nice experiences when shopping there for my baby. The staff are helpful, knowledgeable about their products, and friendly. I am impressed and thankful that they took care in making sure that the cat grass they sell in pots is growing in clean fresh earth with no fertilizer or anything harmful. I had bought some in another Pet Value that had white pieces of fertilizer all over on top and in the earth and asked if it was toxic, and was told hesitatingly no, but when I got home I threw it out as they seemed to really not expect that question or answer in a way that was for sure. Here I could see it for myself that the earth was clean, and even when I asked just to make sure it was not treated with anything (I let them know first that I was sure they knew what they were doing and it was not treated but just needed to confirm), they did not mind at all and confirmed it. Very understanding and a great attitude, towards all pets and pet parents! Thank you.
