They charge mandatory $150 for eye exam on top of OHIP even though you are over 65. Note this charge is unique to their office only. Went to another optometrist, and got the full comprehensive eye exam covered by OHIP. This place is known for high costs for both eye exams and glasses. Avoid this place at all costs.
This was Rosie's and my first visit to the eye centre. We were impressed with the staff we encountered, especially Dr. Joe and Rachel who took great time explaining and ensuring we understood the condition of our eyes and what glasses were best suited for my wife.
Hi, I just finished making appointments for my mom and myself for our annual checkups. Joanne always remembers our names and is efficient and professional. It’s refreshing to have someone so service oriented. Thanks for always being so cheerful and helpful!
They seem to do a thorough exam of your eyes which is a nice touch but let’s not forget, YOU pay for it! $160. You are then given a prescription for your glasses. At this time you are recommended a type of lense, Bi focal, Progressive, etc. Here is where they fail the consumer. If all works out then great everyone is happy. If you have trouble adjusting to THEIR RECOMMENDATION, they want to charge you an additional $80 to go back and review your eyes or any other options available that may work better for you. This is after you already paid $160 for the first visit! You would be better off going to any optometrist which charges $80-$95 for your initial visit and if you have to go back for an adjustment or consult, you would have to money to do so.and this is, if they would even charge you at all.
We came in for my son Gus's first eye appointment! They were so amazing with my son and he felt so grownup and had a blast. Everyone there was friendly and knowledgeable! We received the "Patient of the week" mail, I cannot express enough how special that made him feel. Thank You immensely Dr. Gibson, Kaylea and team! ️

Called to make an appointment told them i was on ODSP. Apparently OHIP pays such a small portion they feel the need to charge almost 150 dollars for just the eye exam little crazy when most places are much cheaper kinda makes me feel like they say that just to steer clear of people that use OHIP for coverage pretty disgraceful

I just recently had my yearly eye exam at Peterborough Optometric. I have been a patient of Dr. Joe Hoja for several years and have always been impressed by his professionalism, knowledge, and his constant striving to offer the most up-to-date visual testing methods. His staff is very friendly and highly competent.
Very friendly staff in a bright, clean office. Explanations were provided at each step and my questions were answered along the way. Unfortunately, staff did not correctly advise as to the type of glasses/lens I required and I ended up returning multiple times for new lenses and then lens adjustments. My lenses are still not correct so I am not able to use them for driving (which is their primary purpose). Although the staff has been pleasant and kind, they have not been able to resolve the issues with my lenses. Overall, the experience has been incredibly frustrating. I will not purchase future eye wear from Peterborough Optometric Centre.
Would just like to take the opportunity to thank the team at Peterborough Optometric. I can't thank them enough for helping me with my warranty issue with my sunglasses. Jane, your eye wear manager, went over and above to help me get replacement lenses for my sunglasses. Also, a special thank you to Maui Jim for all their help with their warranty. Great business to work with, would highly recommend them to any of my friends.
No stars! Incredibly unorganized, they cancelled my appointment and tried to tell me I’d cancelled it, they refused to inform the doctor as to what happened. Worst experience with a doctor’s office ever!
I had an eye examination with the Peterborough Optometric team and was blown away by how thorough they were, and how much time they took with me. Their customer service is A-plus, from the moment you walk in the door through the entire process. The battery of tests they run on your eyes is extensive, and they walk you through everything in an educational and patient manner. Their technology and equipment is cutting-edge, and they take a progressive, innovative approach to being pro-active with your eye health. Owner Dr. Joe Hoja has created an amazing culture there where you feel the great vibe immediately, and how much the staff truly care about you and your eye health. I would highly recommend them!
Overpriced, feel like you are forced to buy glasses there. I went to INSIGHT OPTICAL on Charlotte St.to buy my glasses. Got a great deal very good service.
