Peter's On Eglinton Restaurant

I walked in and instantly loved the decor, the server we had was friendly and helpful. To say portions are generous is an understatement. As far as souvlaki goes, it's delicious. The rice and potatoes you actually want to eat and finish, which I can say isn't always the case in several Greek restaurants I've been to. The greek salad is also tasty. The finishing oregano just makes it. Husband had the Reuben, also tasty, and even he had to take half home. Would not hesitate to return. The menu is mostly classic diner, I would be happy to see a few more Greek dishes like moussaka or pastitsio, but so far so good with what they do offer.

I have heard so many great and amazing things about this place, especially the portions of the food. I can honestly say that the rumours do not disappoint! I ordered the Rueben sandwich and left completely stuffed! The servers and staff, along with the other patrons, were extremely happy and friendly. Our dining experience here was highly enjoyable and I would recommend this place to anyone that likes A LOT of food!

This restaurant is a local legend for good reason! The food is to die for! Fresh ingredients and generous portions! Friendly staff are always welcoming!

The one minor downfall is it sounds like you're in a cafeteria. No music to drown out clinking dishes or other tables' conversations.

Been going here for years with my family. The owners are always on site making sure things run smoothly. The decor in this place is antique I just love it. The food is delicious and the portions are HUGEEEE. Great to go for dinner with your family. They also have all day breakfast!

Awful service. We came here with high hopes as it was on my list of restaurants to try. Mind you, this is during a lockdown so restaurants are depending on takeout right now. My boyfriend and I get there, there’s no one in the takeout line. We approach the counter and the employee ask if we want take out, we said yes. And he RUDELY says here, take the menu, go in the car and you can call in what you want to order. So we leave and I assume well, I guess they’re slammed with orders so he’s going to be prepping food etc. NOPE! We turn around and he’s in the dining room watching tv. LOL. Are you kidding me? ! We got in our car and left. They would never get my money!

We have been here a few times and there has been consistently decent food at fair prices. They offer a great menu selection as well. Be forewarned that they are always busy and justifiably so.

Had the Greek salad, was very good. Was maybe a little heavy on the dressing, but otherwise very good serving size and the olives were delicious!

My favorite deli spot in Mississauga. Portions are absurd, will not leave hungry. Staff is friendly and attentive. Love this place

The deli sandwiches are to die for, a large will do you for 2 meals easy! I would however, avoid some other menu items. Fried Calamari for example is bad, just a soggy mess, and expensive.

Peter's is one of those rare establishments that over the decades has never once been a disappointing dining experience. The food, the huge portions, the fantastic waiting staff and the tremendous value have and continue to be superior. If you haven't been, then yes, you've missed something. And if you're a Montrealer homesick for a genuine article smoked meat sandwich, then you need to get to Peter's On Eglinton.

Been going to Peter's on Eglinton for almost 20 years. Always a good meal, friendly staff and huge portions - so that means leftovers for the next day!

Have not been to Peter's in quite a while. I decided to take friends who are visiting from out of town and the food was just as good as ever. It was sad to see they were not as busy as I remember. Their smoked meat sandwiches and bacon and tomato sandwiches are outstanding!

The quality and taste of the food is exceptional! I confess I have not sampled the entire menu but my go to meal is the smoked meat sandwich! The portion is more than reasonably, the meat is melt in your mouth tender and extremely delicious. If this type of cuisine is your desire Peter's on Eglinton is a must!

Such a disappointment. Their Montreal smoked meat tasted like it was purchased from Loblaws. Oh wait, Loblaws is better. The very strange tiffany atmosphere and dated wall paper along with the elevator music made us feel like we were eating in a retirement home. I'll take a pass on this one the next time I'm in Toronto.

Paying 50 bucks for two soggy smoke meat sandwiches without mustard is quite frustrating…
Especially when it’s sold to you as one of the best in the city.

Have been going here for years but disappointed that they are lacking covid-19 protocols. No glass/acrylic separations between tables, no social distancing, and no contact tracing. Also, witnessed poor cleaning of tables/seats between customers. Hopefully their practices behind the scenes are better.

This has been my go to restaurant for family and business events for over 25 years and I have never been disappointed until two weeks ago.

Given Covid, I have not been in the area for over a year, however, two weeks ago I wanted to show my support and returned.

I ordered the super cornbeef sandwich and noticed the bill said pastrami. When I inquired before leaving the establishment, the women assured me it was cornbeef. Upon reurning home, you can imagine my disappointment when I found it was pastrami.

Yesturday, I found myself in the area and ordered cornbeef again and this time it was stated correctly on the bill and tasted great as always.

Great food if you can dine in. They have huge portions and everything is cooked well. Clearly they know what they are doing. Avoid takeout if you only like the large portions though- not nearly the same as dine in

Very poor takeout experience, ordered 2 hours ahead for 7pm. Arrived at 7pm and stood outside for 50 minutes along with a collection of other people waiting for 7pm orders. The people picking up at 7: 15 and 7: 30 were already getting irritate. No apology from the staff or no token of sympathy. That was the worst, an apology or an explanation would have been nice. Nothing. The food was great but dont over commit if they can’t fill orders.

Oh Peter's, your takeout is NOT great! I have to say, I'm disappointed in my meal tonight. This is my first time ordering takeout. The pork souvlaki was dry, the potato was dry as an old leather shoe. We also ordered calamari, and while nice and fresh, they chose to put it in a plastic lidded container which turned the batter to mush. A styrofoam container with the edges torn off to allow the calamari to breath is a better idea.

Greek food exceptional - ordered the chicken parmigiana- not like the real thing! Way overpriced! Again Greek food is good.

Take out prices ridiculous for what you get. Looks a lot with lots of fries or rice fillers. Dining in a better experience.

Went for a work party and the food options amd staff were amazing. Small place, but great good. Nothing too fancy. Chicken club lunch $17.50

I was eating alone. I asked if I could get a booth table. I was told no. Found chairs to be very uncomfortable, no support on seat. I felt rushed as restaurant was getting busy.
Meal was good but poor service.
Also food is over priced.

There’s an old woman who is always rude over the phone and in person. She needs to be told she has zero customer service skills.

This family style restaurant feels like it has been around for quite some time. It sets itself aside from the surrounding industrial plazas with colourful stained glass windows and light fixtures. The interior was a cozy feeling, booth seating, and friendly staff.

I came for the Ruben and was not disappointed. My dinner guests chose souvlaki.

The portions are quite generous. A small souvlaki was more than enough for a hungry adult.

For dessert, Apple pie and Cheese cake. Both tasted fresh, I was told the Apple Pie had been baked earlier that day - I believe them. There was also Carrot Cake and Tiramisu which I did not try.

The price seemed a little higher than what I was expecting, but the quality of the food was excellent as well as the service. After dining with Peter's I am content to pay the price I did to support this business and keep it around for many more years.

There is plenty of parking, the restaurant is accessible with accessible washrooms. High chairs & change table. All payment types accepted.

I give it 5 out of 5 meat hunks!

The staff is so friendly at Peter's! It may be a little pricey but you get what you pay for! The servings are massive and the food is delicious!

This is a lovely restaurant to visit - I mostly come for their pastrami and cornbeef sandwiches - very very delicious, about $13, but you get a huge portion and I always leave with a doggie bag - I used to share with a girlfriend but they have a note on the menu now about an extra fee for sharing - it's a bright, happy place to go, especially on Sunday - there may be a line up but I think it is worth the wait - have been coming here for many many years

Huge portions and I mean huge. Great service and bright atmosphere. Food itself is ok nothing out of the ordinary, stick to the deli sandwiches.

For years, I've driven by this restaurant and have always been meaning to try it. My best friend and I did just that a few weeks ago on a Tuesday night.
The first thing that strikes you as you're shown to your table is the elegance - stained glass windows and huge crystal chandeliers, and just the right amount of light - not too dark and not too bright. The atmosphere was nice and quiet as well. A mature clientele, all adults who came with their families or some having a business dinner.
Peter's has a big selection for their dinner menu, and although the prices may seem a little too much, you'll definitely get your money's worth!
Each of our entrees came with complimentary bread and soup. When we went it was cream of mushroom and very good.
My friend had the chicken parmigiana at $25.95 and I had the halibut and chips. They give you the option of 1 or 2 fillets and I just had one for $19.95.
But what you get for that - wow! A big chunk of pickle, chips that are just perfect (not greasy at all), and a big piece of halibut with tartar sauce. Now, you know when you order fish and chips anywhere else, you usually just get a small cup of coleslaw? Not at Peter's. It was actually a big portion and took me a while to eat.
The server we had was very attentive and friendly.
I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a date night. Just remember to go hungry!

Peter’s is a great spot! Good food and so much choice from breakfast to smoked meat to souvlaki! The French onion soup is awesome and the calamari are a must! They’re famous for their enormous portion sizes, most are enough for 2! The service is fabulous. The ladies care about the customers, they remember you and things you chat about. They make you feel welcome and add to the enjoyable experience! It’s my favourite smoked meat place. The kosher pickles are so delish.
Prices are a bit high, but it’s worth it!

Make sure you are very hungry before you go there Cuz their portions are just huge. Like really huge. Started with small Greek salad. Their small can serve 2 people. Super tasty and perfect amount if dressing.
I got the large smoked meat sandwich. It came with slaw, fries and a pickle. The portion is unreal and the flavor is unreal. I don't usually struggle when I eat, but that sandwich pushed me to the end. Their steak sandwich is very good and again big portion. They serve you bread complementary with butter. My advice to you, don't eat a lot of bread, Cuz when the main course comes, you won't be able to eat. Cyndi was a very good server, fast and attentive. The place was very clean and was not dem at all.
My advice, try their sandwich and instead of getting an app salad, get it as a substitution to the fries or the slaw.
They have a big menu with a lot of options other than smoked meat.
Definitely going back but next time I'll make sure I am very hungry.
If you all tried shawrts in montreal, then you all should try this place.

Food is good. Service was a bit of a surprise. I came with a bunch of friends and waitress shouted out loud at 11 am in the morning (quiet Sunday morning with not many guests) that we came in a big group without reservation. Waitress handed me the bill before I even finished my food at 12 pm. I almost walked in to their kitchen on my way out as it was my 1st time coming here. Waitress shouted out loud "Do u want to come in and do the dishes? "
I am a bit disappointed by the verbal gestures. Nice ambience for big group outing but alas.

I love giving my business to local independent businesses. Peter's on Eglinton has been around over 3 decades.

My very first visit here was 1991, I went to an aesthetic supplier in the area for a training on some new products the hair salon I started my first fulltime. A few of the aestheticians and I had lunch here and to our surprise food came in a mega portions, we couldn't finished what each of us ordered and the waitress offered takeout containers for us to take home.

I have been at Peter's on Eglinton with my kids all the time. My oldest son love this restaurant for the portion size of their foods. My youngest son preferred Asians foods more.

I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their menu offers a great variety of choices, and all orders comes in mega size. There is usually a wait for a table, but the wait is worth every minute. The only negative I have is their fish and chips are not consistent, sometimes the batter is thick and other time is lightly battered.

The wait staffs are super nice, very attentive to your business even when they are extremely busy. This restaurant has done its job right in location, the amount of foods they offered and the choices of who they have serving customers.

We moved away from this area and the traffic in Mississauga is not too kind so being hungry, stuck in traffic and the wait at the restaurant do not mix well for me. Wish they have many location throughout Mississauga or GTA.

Nice simple atmosphere.it seems like a family owned business.waiter and waitress are older than the usual. Menu has a great selection and price range is higher than normal. Food is good, however portions are ridiculously generous. Could not finish my chicken salad sandwich with coleslaw and fries. Way too much chicken in the sandwich. Same applied for any smoked meat sandwich.if they cut back on the portions a little maybe the prices would be better.unfortunately a lot of food was wasted. Decent place. I would not hurry back anytime soon.

Huge portions of good home good foods. The interior is really unique and a throwback to another day. Lots of stained glass. Parking is good and plentiful. Menu is extensive, something for everyone. It’s been a longstanding place in the area.

Oh boy. This place is a gem. And the portion sizes are insane. The big souvlaki dinner can feed 3 people, not kidding. The rice is delicious and the Greek salad is amazing. Their sandwiches are two floors high with meat. And the waitresses are super nice and courteous. Beautiful dining area. This place is a new years tradition for me for the past 20 years.

Very nice place with high quality food that is reasonably priced. Service was great we were served by Yara she was beautiful, polite and professional.

There is only one thing you can say about Peters on Eglinton come hungry and leave full great staff and awesome food at great prices

I went in hoping for a late night budget meal but the items on the menu were a little higher than expected. Ended up walking out soon as I sat down. Disappointing.

My family has been coming here for years. Always busy, best to book a reservation.they have amazing smoked meat sandwiches. Portions are huge.service is so-so.

Visited this place after a very long time. Still maintained the quality and warmth in the place. Huge portions. Haven't changed the decor for past many years (more than 20 years) but never bothered me. Reasonably priced in relation to portions. Little liberal on salt in some dishes but each one has their own taste. Will visit again as this place did not disappointed me during my visit.

Great food. Welcoming staff. Manager/owner always there talking to guests. HUGE PORTIONS of really good homemade food. Prices are also in line with how much you get. Been going for years with my family. Must check out place. Souvlaki is amazing there.
