We love Petit Bills. They have good food (especially the Clam Chowder) and know how to make a great Martini! We celebrated an anniversary there and they treated us like gold. We look forward to going back many more times.
Forgot to take a pic but wanted to still post. What a great place! Service was next level, owner chatting with everyone. Fish & chips were delicious. Recommend!
The food was amazing! The lobster poutine is to die for. And the service made me feel like family. They were very accommodating for our party with dietary restrictions.
Nice ambiance, wonderful service, varied menu that’s reliably tasty and well presented. A long time staple in the community. Personally, I find the wine list somewhat lacking. Nice to support VQA labels but the absence of other choices is a deterrent to more frequent visits.
This is a great bistro with delicious food and wonderful service. It feels like a family restaurant, with the owner there to make sure your experience is a good one.
I've been a couple of times and will definitely be back.
The burger is filling and the lobster poutine is a must-try. The ceasar salad could use a bit more garlic.
One thing to note about Petit Bill's Bistro is that it can be a bit pricey, but the quality of the food and the overall experience is well worth the cost.
Great service and fantastic fish and chips, the best I've had in years. Light tasty batter. Will definitely be going back. Oh and the chips were great too and a sizeable portion I got a buttered bun to make a chip butty it was lovely.
I met a friend for lunch but we forgot to make reservations. The restaurant was most gracious and were able to accommodate us. Overall excellent service. I had the seafood chowder I heard about. But since my friend ordered only a cup of her soup I also ordered only a cup of chowder. It must have been the last bit of chowder in the kitchen as the cup was filled with potatoes and just one bite of fish. It was tasty but …I should have ordered the full serving The beet salad was fabulous. Heartily recommended. I also had a glass of house wine a Chardonnay which was cert nice. Then a lovely cappuccino. Not including tip it was just a few pennies shy of 50$!
A bit disappointing experience.but I must come back and have a full serving of the chowder to see if it’s as good as I heard.
Super warm, friendly service and cute, wonderful place! Unfortunately the food was just kind of okay though. Lobster Poutine tasted the best. Bit pricey too.
Bravo.
Brought one of my besties here for her birthday dinner. It was cozy, with beautiful artwork to look at on every wall. The menu had a variety of items. Our food was AMAZING! We both loved our meals - absolutely delicious! The waitress answered a number of our questions about the menu and also had some great suggestions. I will definitely be back!
Delicious and friendly! They came around and checked how the food was with a friendly pat on the shoulder - definitely will be coming back! Thank you so, so much for the amazing dinner and wine!
Had a nice enough meal there with a friend. I picked up the cheque and my friend was paying the tip in cash. We were just finishing our wine and we're surprised the waitress sent the chef over to speak to us about not adding a tip to my credit card payment. He was friendly and polite, but clearly concerned about the tip. The cash was sitting on the table in plain sight. Anyway the lesson is that if you are leaving a cash tip tell the waitress as you are paying the bill and you'll avoid this embarrassing situation. Unless of course you aren't happy with the meal or service. A tip is a compliment, never a requirement.
I’m lucky to have had some amazing dining experiences here! My partner and I felt welcome and celebrated for our engagement dinner and even received a dessert on the house! As someone with a gluten allergy dining here has been easy for me, the servers really know the menu so it’s no stress. High praise for the great mocktails as well Thanks for the memorable occasion!
One of my favorite restaurants in Ottawa (Westboro District). Management is friendly and welcoming. Menu is varied and consistent with gastro-pub format. Prices are reasonable; portions are adequate and preparation shows a bit of flair. Nice atmosphere and makes special events fun.
Wow, great service, awesome menu and good hosts. Terry the proprietor personally see's to all his guests at the table. Menu is on par with other spots in the vicinity and the food was well presented and appropriately portioned for the price.
My husband and I enjoyed dinner last week at Petit Bill's Bistro and we were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and we totally enjoyed our evening. I had the steak frites and the steak was 'melt in your mouth tender with a delicious flavor. My husband enjoyed the lobster roll which had a delicate seasoning. To top it off, Petit Bill's gave us a delicious complimentary desert to help us celebrate! I would highly recommend Petit Bill's Bistro as a welcoming, friendly restaurant with out-of-this world food!
An unassuming place with a chill vibe. Noise level was high, but it was due to the simultaneous conversations going on + Menu is nicely varied with a decent wine list and innovative cocktail menu. I had the Savoury Tomato Tarte Tatin - as delicious as it is complicated. We need to return many times.
Both food and experience were perfect. For appetizer we had caesar salad and lobster poutine, and for main dish we had Bill's burger and beef short rib. I have to say that all the dishes were amazing. Anna who was responsible for our table was very professional, nice and pleasant. We were celebrating an event, and this place was definitely a perfect place to go for a joyful evening. I definitely recommend this place to every one.
We had the lobster wonton, lobster poutine, and Smoked Duck Magret. All were yummy. Service was impeccable and the owner chatted with us to see we were enjoying our meal and answered our questions about how they cooked the duck meat. I love how everything is made in-house. The Carrot Cake was in point too I would give a 4.5 if there was half rating.
Great meal and service in a beautiful location. I especially enjoyed:
+ Lobster poutine: They used an amazing savoury white sauce and perfectly cooked shoe-string fries.
+ Arctic char on a bed of risotto, balanced flavours well executed fish and risotto. It also presented really nicely.
Favorite dessert was bread-pudding paired with a creme anglaise. It had nice balance of sweetness and great texture contrasts: crispy edges with creamy/soft center. Delicious.
Since it was easy to talk over dinner it would make a great place to celebrate a birthday or team milestone with a special meal. Highly recommend.
Could have not picked a better restaurant! Great service, atmosphere was very friendly with a touch of a "feels like home" vibe. We had the clam strips, lobster wonton, beef short rib, lobster roll and great desserts. Visited July 16th, 2022. We'll definitely be back again
I frequent this place 1 to 2 times per year. Staff are super personable, knowledgeable, and efficient. The apps are to die for. Entrées are excellent as well. Great vibes. Great food. Great experience. Bourbon lovers will love the selection.
I was looking forward to trying this place as I've heard good things about it and there are lots of good reviews. I had the ceviche mojito, and unfortunately, i think Ottawa just doesn't have great ceviche. There was no flavour and I had to add salt but that wasn't able to save it. I had a caesar drink, and sadly it just felt very watered down and not enough flavour. The waitress was nice and added some clamato but it was still not very good. The duck confit was good, but I should've asked for more sauce because it was a little dry. But otherwise the duck dish is quite good. My partner had the lobster roll and it was not bad. Overall disappointed but the place is super cute and we were happy to support local. Service was good.
Great food. Excellent staff. We had the seafood chowder, scallops and duck with carrot cake for dessert. The chowder was tasty with a Sriracha buttered bread. The scallops were okay but we expected a better dear, and honestly would have like 6 of them for the price. The confit duck was amazing and we got 2 legs which was really filling. The carrot cake was excellent with a great caramel drizzle on the plate. First time here, will definitely return to try more menu items.
Came here last weekend for their patio. Their food is a little on the pricey side. I ordered their fish and chips, was disappointed with how much batter is in it vs the amount of fish.
I their drinks made up for it though, they were good.
Love Petit Bill's! Have ordered take out multiple times and always receive great food. Very nice and friendly staff, especially owners. Such a delight each time picking up food, highly recommend!
Great atmosphere, Terry is a wonderful host and makes you feel very welcome. The menu has a nice breadth of French style options and portion sizes are perfect. The plates are savory and offer interesting combinations that will satisfy any visitor, but it could be a five-star experience if the plating and care on presentation were there. Overall great experience.
Terry is a great guy from my brief intetaction.this gentleman made sure to greet and say goodbye to everyone who came-in and left.talked with me as though he knew me.the place had a great feel to it - I intend to go back!
Always delicious, I got the special - Steak Frites, so good. They had crispy hot banana peppers as a garnish and they were so unique and tasty. Great ownership.
I am super disappointed with my visit. After Christmas shopping we decided to call and see if they had a table for two. They did. We were dressed pretty casual. The server barely paid us any attention and brought everything late. The servings we got compared to the table of regulars next to us was crazy. The food was good! The whole place has so much character and I loved it instantly. But the service wasn’t and I doubt I will ever go back because of that.
Petit bills was nice. Have a very great bourbon list if you're into that. Personally I got a whisky flight and ordered 3 different bourbons that are very rarely offered anywhere else. This was a huge plus to me. The burger and fries were great, the fries especially. Reasonably priced. The rest of the menu was more expensive but sounded really good. Will have to try more menu options as I'm sure that's what they specialize in.
Dropped in for lunch.first time i enjoyed very much the food and the staff. I had a nice chat with the staff, it's apparent that they are passionate at what they do. Id like to try there dinner menu as i think it would be even more delicious. I recommend there soup and salads for lunch very fresh.
Their clam chowder is one of the best! Love the atmosphere and service at this family run restaurant. I’ve been here 3 times now and always get the duck confit.
#BEST SEAFOOD CHOWDER IN OTTAWA As true to Newfoundland as you can find, Petit Bill’s Bistro seafood chowder is loaded with seafood: loads of clams, whitefish, cod, scallops, mussels, lobster. Owners Terry & Randy are salt of the earth, good people with great senses of humour. They always make a point of personally greeting each customer - a personal touch. Nice sidewalk patio. Beautifully decorated for more formal events if you’re looking for a romantic date night. Been here about 20 times. Each time tried something different. Everything was full of flavour and delish. I’d be willing to bet that you’ll come back.
Food was absolutely amazing. Chowder to start, short rib entree, carrot cake for dessert. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much because how happy I was about the food! Great experience. Highly recommended. I'll be back.
