Really enjoyed learning about the glyphs, seeing them. The park staff was very knowledgeable. Thank you for sharing and teaching us. The meromictic lake is beautiful. The trails are nice and easy a little elevation in some areas.
16 September 2023 15:44
Beautiful setting in the Canadian countryside. Well set out with trekking routes and picnic areas which do not intrude on the natural surroundings.
The Petroglyphs were fascinating and educational, really making me appreciate the culture.
An added bonus was the fascinating Meromictic lake - never seen one, and it was beautiful.
As a visitor to Canada, it was an unexpected pleasure. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area.
18 August 2023 8:32
An ideal place to get the opportunity to see petroglyphs with ease of access. Recommend to visit at least once in a lifetime. I did this as I was completing the Ride the Highlands - Dynamite Alley loop on my motorcycle. Going to go back some time to walk some of the many trails.
14 June 2023 9:51
The park is beautiful and a lot of care is taken to keep it clean. We were fortunate to walk into a tour by Mike who gave us a thorough explanation of symbols and the historical context. The visitors centre also has a really poignant and inspirational installation which outlines the practices, worldviews, and ideals of the Indigenous peoples that once inhabit (ed) this land.
10 June 2023 3:04
The Petroglphs are nestled in the most peaceful setting. There is a lovely drive on the way in and out where you are completely surrounded by nature. The gift shop and educational building were amazing. After a short walk from the gift shop to pavilion, you arrive at the Petroglyph site. Brenda was amazing and answered all of our questions. My 9 year old son had the most amazing time, Brenda made the experience special by teaching him the importance of the number 13. Thank you for sharing your time and teachings with us. We will be back.
13 May 2023 22:18
Well worth the visit. Petroglyphs are covered in a dome to protect them.

Nice trails, a bit rugged so wear adequate shoes and clothing.

Few lakes within properties and picnic areas.
19 November 2022 3:09
Dogs are not allowed inside scared area. Learning centre is very interesting, The rock carvings are explained very well with signage
08 November 2022 16:30
It was amazing seeing the rock carvings from almost 6000 years ago. What an amazing cultural and spiritual site for the Ojibwe peoples. The staff were so informed and friendly. An amazing place to visit.
04 November 2022 18:37
The hike is pretty standard. There is a really beautiful pond here that's a stunning act of nature. The petroglyphs. Should probably be kept as a private sacred ground and away from the public. It's really not much to see for the public. The place is quite hard to drive to. Make sure you bring a sturdy ride.
31 October 2022 6:21
Simply amazing. The trails are very well maintained. The petroglyphs are awesome! Great family adventure!
24 October 2022 15:13
Beautiful place. So much to learn from the indigenous community. A definite to visit in my book.
15 October 2022 7:27
The park is beautiful with very easy trails. It's my first time seeing and learning about the fascinating history of the petroglyphs. The McGinnis Lake is also worth the visit.
13 October 2022 21:44
Mixed feelings. Like petroglyphs.not sure about surrounding "aura". Is it worth visiting? If you have pas from another park, yes. Otherwise, unles you are history proffesor or history buff. No! And because natives thing it's a sacred place, you cannot take pictures.
10 October 2022 20:36
Excellent spot! I learned a lot about Indigenous culture and traditions. Keep up the good work in preserving the national treasures.
14 September 2022 15:03
The lake looks even more beautiful than the pictures.
Nanabush trail is 5.5km and has a lot of ups and downs.
Please note you cannot start hiking after 3: 30pm and must exit the park by 5pm.
13 September 2022 7:32
Beautiful surroundings, good facilities, but most importantly the staff here was super excellent they really made this the highlight of our entire trip
05 September 2022 2:30
It wasn't very busy which was nice. The trails were well taken care of and it was nice to staff out taking care of some of invasive species.

Next time I would like to hike the trails by the lake it was beautiful.
23 December 2021 3:27
My first time here. The petroglyphs were amazing! A very special place that was an honor to be able to experience.
18 December 2021 15:30
The largest collection of petroglyphs on Turtle Island carved in stone. This sacred and most important place for the indigenous people of different nations must be seen in everyone's life at least once. The gift shop and snack bar are quite good created the DVD that I purchased from there about the petroglyphs was very informative. Petroglyphs are located deep in the forest and makes her beautiful surroundings.
26 November 2021 4:34
We visited Petroglyphs PP on its last operating day in 2021, which is Thanksgiving Monday. The visitor center is around 3kms from the entrance, and this is where park permits are purchased. The Petroglyphs site is a short walk from the visitor center. The site is such an interesting place to visit but unfortunately no photography is allowed there.

After visiting the site, we hiked the lovely Nanabush trail, which was 4kms long (not 5.5kms as marked) and took us around 70 minutes to complete with a toddler and a newborn.
14 November 2021 6:11
Gorgeous hike around a beautiful lake! It’s pretty easy terrain and wasn’t busy at all. The park is closed currently but if you park at the main gate you can walk 4km to get to the main part where the trails start. The hike sound minnow lake is lovely.
01 November 2021 8:15
Very interesting.must be respectful to not take pictures.my pictures were taken inside the gift shop n I asked permission which was granted a must visit the lake the trails are great
26 October 2021 10:52
This is a very special place. The nature in the provincial park is kept intact. The petroglyph carving are being protected by a building that was designed after much research to ensure these carvings don’t disappear through human interactions and by nature. Great, bright building is built around them. No photography is allowed which is fine. Take in all the learning you can from the indigenous guides who are present to answer your questions. Park staff at the visitor Center are also very helpful and friendly. With their permission, I took a photo of an image of one of the carvings inside the visitor Center/gift shop. I would have loved to purchase the map with all the petroglyphs, similar to the one posted on the wall inside the petroglyphs building.
Too bad the learning Center is closed due to an issue with their lighting. But this means that I will come back to visit again and for more learning. Lots of poison ivy everywhere so be very careful and stay on the trails. Great hikes and beautiful lakes.
22 October 2021 8:42
This patk is a jewel of Ontario! Gorgeous nature with beautiful lakes, including a rare meromictic lake. And be sure to visit the petroglyphs, which are some of the best preserved etchings we have seen. A very hallowed ground.
05 October 2021 7:05
Incredible collection of ancient petroglyphs by indigenous peoples. Such a treasure to see and appreciate this sacred site. Definitely worth visiting, and especially with a spirit of reconciliation.
30 September 2021 13:51
What a great experience. The Petroglyphs area, relatively close to the parking / visitors centre was amazing. Still in its "natural" state, except of course for the large building that covers it all. Staff very knowledgeable, and actual representatives from first nations. And then the trails were tough but worth the sweat. We took the #2 Nanabush hike. I wouldn't consider it "easy", with lots of ups and downs. But once you get to the lake "loop", worth the effort. Nice place to sit on a boulder and enjoy the scenery.
22 September 2021 10:28
Beautiful place. Unfortunately the learning place is not fully functioning because of a power outage. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The petroglyphs themselves are sacred. I'm pleased they are being protected.
19 September 2021 17:01
Absolutely stunning! I really enjoyed seeing not just the petroglyphs but the scenery, especially the lake. There is a lot of walking involved so dress appropriately. Don't carry anything that will load you down but do bring a bottle of water.
16 September 2021 12:45
A place where you would find artwork of First Nation for spiritual purposes, and a lake nearby which is meromictic - an interesting place really. Few trails are there also. Only catch you can not swim in the lake or can not take photos of the artwork.
14 September 2021 17:11
The petroglyphs were inspiring and amazing to look at. They were beautiful. The trails aren't stroller friendly, though, which we learned the hard way. The wife and I can't wait to go back and check out the trails when we are kid free!
29 August 2021 0:26
Beautiful place. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The trails are a bit difficult I would not bring small children on them. We were amazed by the carvings, they were so raw and wonderful. Such an amazing time capsule into history. We will definitely be back. And the park was free when we visited in July, the park attendant said "it's free Monday to Thursday" that was a surprise bonus.
28 August 2021 22:45
Hikes are meh. The two viewing spots are awesome of the lake!

The glyphs are closed still July 1st
18 August 2021 18:52
Personally, I really love this park.it teaches so much about indigenous culture and is truly a teleportation back in time.all children matter?
07 August 2021 13:26
Beautiful trails! Especially love coming here in the fall, but nice any season. Definitely visit the learning center to see the petroglyphs themselves before hiking. Nice picnic areas (East Day Use) and the lakes are gorgeous. Would recommend wearing hiking boots to keep safe on the uneven rocky portions of the trails.
31 July 2021 17:39
Nice views. The time I visited there was lots of parking. You have to walk for 10 mins from where the car parked to the visitor Center and obtain your ticket but you didn’t need to bring the ticket back to you car - in case you wanted to start the hike right after paying for parking. Another tip is that you can drive your vehicles to the 2 parking spots closer to where the 2 south lakes are (McGinnis) - I took the walk so it’s about 5km and skipped the main 3 trails.

Last tip: lots of mosquitos so make sure you come prepare.
20 July 2021 6:08
Came here a couple days ago on a Wednesday, not crowded at all and very relaxing. McGinnis lake here is phenomenal! Make sure to get a parking permit in the Visitor center (free when we went on a Wednesday)
18 July 2021 19:00
The only problem we faced during this time of year were the swarms of mosquitoes. Well, can’t complain much it was their breeding season.
17 July 2021 20:44
Beautiful grounds, but petroglyphs sute and learning centre were covid closed. Looking forward to another trip to see them! Great hiking grounds and spots to picnic
16 July 2021 1:50
A flat hike here to 2 beautiful little lakes, about 8 km total, to McGinnis Lake, past a marsh, and then around Minnow Lake.
30 June 2021 20:25
Hidden gem! Explored the short trails this summer and it was such a beautiful walk. Very family friendly and a quick drive from Toronto (worth it). Lots of parking and an accessible bathrooms.
18 June 2021 8:16
Petroglyphs provincial park.
Lovely, scenic and peaceful spot that brings tranquility in soul.
24 May 2021 6:43
Currently gates are not open but you can still walk in to walk the trails. From front gate to visitor centre is 4.1km, so you would at least be walking for 30 mins just to get to some trails. They are very strict with the public about respect for the grounds (i dont blame them). Dogs are not allowed in some areas. Its quiet, nature forest, if you are lucky and quiet when you walk- you may see pheasants, deer, ducks, woodpeckers cross your path.
26 December 2020 20:13
Fascinating! This is an amazing preserved piece of history. No photos are permitted and it is a small walk, but well worth the visit. To further understand the significance, spend time with the knowledgeable, friendly, helpful interpreters.

Clean, modern toilettes are found in the Learning Centre. Outhouse facilities are found at the start of the 3 hiking trails. (Photos are permitted on the trails.)

A gift shop in the Learning Centre offers souvenirs and a small assortment of snacks.

It is a bit of a drive in to the Learning Centre and Petroglyphs (protected by a building). There is parking. There is a fee, payable in the Learning Centre. This allows you entrance to other parks, but check how long it is valid.

On your drive out, be sure to stop at McGinnis Lake. It is one of a small number in the world that is a meromictic lake. The water is clear and the colour is stunning. There is free parking and there is an outhouse at the start of the short trail to the lake. NOTE: Swimming in the lake is not permitted.

This is well worth the visit.
03 December 2020 11:29
Had a wonderful hike on the Marsh Trail and also walked to McGinnis Lake to capture the picturesque photo of the meromictic lake.

Appreciated the kind staff at the visitor centre and their covid safety measures were well enforced. On a busy Sunday morning we were lucky enough to have been able to enter but I did see that the park could reach capacity before the afternoon (via Twitter) so it is definitely good to check and see first if there's any space left before making the trek.
21 November 2020 19:13
We truly enjoyed!
In a time when many places, especially public ones, are taking the easiest route by simply closing, Petroglyphs has modified operations so they can stay open. Your efforts were greatly appreciated.
We were honoured to be able to visit, to learn, and to explore.
Thank you!
07 February 2020 1:31
Truly mysterious. The whole place reverberates with a different energy. Even the trees seem to speak.
04 December 2019 19:44
Wonderful presentation of indigenous culture linked to the carvings on the sacred rock. Well worth the visit, and take the time to converse with the indigenous park guides as they have a wealth of associated information and background on the site.
26 November 2019 13:23
Nice hike around 2 hours maybe a bit more, the petroglyphs are really interesting the park rangers go to great detail explaining the history and importance of the place. Would definitely recommend to any one that is in the area
17 November 2019 15:51
Very nice park for indigenous teachings at the petroglyphs and a pleasant hike on the trails. A great day trip!
17 November 2019 11:51
A truly wild provincial park. A warm and inviting visitors centre that reminds us that we all share the same planet. The Petroglyphs are about a 5 minute walk from the centre, there are guides there to answer any questions and helpfully put all the images into perspective. A reminder though that it is a sacred space and dogs are not allowed into the visitors centre nor the Petroglyphs display, also no photos or videos are allowed in the Petroglyph centre.
14 November 2019 2:55
Learning centre is very informative and moving. Petroglyphs are absolutely amazing to see and appreciate the efforts being made to preserve them.
29 October 2019 14:49
The park is incredibly well maintained, and lots of information. Great trails, without it being to over worked. The park has been incredibly respectful to nature and it's surroundings.
13 October 2019 5:43
The info center was unique and informative of the.native ways. The rock was sacred and it actually felt it. Seeing the rock was an experience to remember, and i recommend people to see it. If you just do the petroglyphs and info center, it makes for a short trip, or take a walk down one of their amazing trails. The rocky, and hilly terrain will guide you through amzing forest areas, mash's and minnow lake.
08 October 2019 1:13
Interesting, if your into that stuff. Moderate trails, bring your bug off! Some poison ivy, Marsh trail looked overgrown so definitely suggest covering up!
04 October 2019 14:55
This park is sacred to the Natives. You cannot bring your dog inside the exhibit. You have to walk quite long from the parking lot to the Visitor Centre and pay the admission fee. The stone with the writings in it is conserved inside the building. You can see the rock inside the building. You can picnic in the day use area around the McGinnis Lake. The Lake is beautiful with tri-color water and the scenery from the above is great. Don't forget to bring your bug-spray and lotion since you will be attacked by a lot of bugs.
04 October 2019 4:47
Très belle découverte. Site d'une grande richesse archéologique. Bien aménagé au milieu de nulle part.
27 September 2019 16:19
The site of the petroglyphs and the Learning Centre put you in touch with past generations of the First Peoples of North America. It allows you to appreciate a piece of the culture and history of the Ojibwe, and the lessons they have to teach.
Allow 2-3 hours minimum for just the Learning Centre and Petroglyphs. Wear comfortable shoes, there's two short walks from the parking lot to the Learning Centre, and the Learning Centre to the Petroglyphs. The paths are small stone screening, it will fill sandals. Several hiking trails are available, however I did not partake.
Please be respectful to this site, there is no video or photography.
26 September 2019 7:10
The Petroglyphs themselves were great, very interesting. How I was nit happy about the fact that I was not told when I paid that my dog was not allowed on the path kneading up to building. I understand tgat the dog would not be allowed in the buildings however I did not expect he would not be able to go on the nature path to tge building. I told the cashier I had dog when we paid but he never said anything about the dog nor being allowed in any if yhe out door parts of the park.
24 September 2019 3:19
Beautiful spot to visit and more importantly a great facility to learn more about the history and culture of Indigenous peoples in Ontario.
22 September 2019 8:55
Dogs are allowed into the park. But they can't go into the main feature petroglyphs. There's no point going if your dog can't be with you.

You can't take any pictures either.

Parking is a hike to the visitor center.

Staff might have been nice. But they didn't interact with me. So I wouldn't know.

I wouldn't come back, or recommend coming here.

I understand they want to protect their sacred land. But the land is for animals, and the beings on it. So the restrictions are man's rules. Making what the petroglyphs have to offer and tell insignificant.
21 September 2019 19:40
Very spiritual.interesting that its a active site thats still in use today.and very proud at how its protected by parks Canada.worth the visit.
19 September 2019 19:35
Over 10 km of hikes. Nice shop, and one of a kind rock carving dating between 1200 to 600 years ago. Great day out
19 September 2019 4:31
Excellent trip for the kids! Educating them on Canada’s history through native art. The staff was excellent in explaining how the craving were done.
14 September 2019 18:52
A little gem hidden in Ontario, it's a place that everyone need to visit to understand the beauty of Canada's aboriginal culture. Tour guides were so helpful and the interpretive centre was informative.
We are planning on coming back for their night time tour!
Our four year old enjoyed the outdoors, and looking at the Petroglyphs!
12 September 2019 2:12
We took White Lightning Bus Tours to the Petroglyphs Park for a day and evening sessions. Great location, fabulous experience and great Historical experience. The staff were awesome at Park.
10 September 2019 17:59
Loved seeing the petroglyphs and learning about their history. We did the red walk afterwards and it was nice, the paths need a bit of maintenance and there should be an active level assign to each walk as it would be difficult for some people.
06 September 2019 9:35
A Sacred peaceful beautiful place. Very interesting and informative. Knowledgeable Park staff. A nice walk through the woods. I've been twice and I will be back. The carvings are wonderful but remember no photos. Enjoy!
02 September 2019 18:41
I visited the Petroglyphs Provincial Park for a day and was extremely impressed with the facility. The main Learning Centre is extremely informative and houses an excellent exhibit and small retail store. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. I was able to visit the Teaching Rocks and then continued on for a hike after. The trails were gorgeous and very well-kept. This is an excellent place to visit for the whole family and I will definitely be returning.
31 August 2019 9:26
Petroglyphs are very cool but some of the trails are not maintained. One just ended and we had to turn back.
30 August 2019 16:32
A bit of a challenge getting to the exhibit for those with mobility issues. Even though I parked in the wheelchair parking I was lucky I had my young niece who could go to the parking booth to pay for parking while I waited by the car, but it was still a far distance to walk for me to get to the exhibition building. Worth the effort, just be aware.
24 August 2019 21:05
A strong spiritual energy eminates from this remote location deep in the woods outside of Curve Lake First Nation. A whole library for those that can read the gliphs!
19 August 2019 4:47
Nice hiking trails, great educational visitors center, friendly informative staff. Great park store.
04 August 2019 13:12
Interesting exhibit. Films provide information about the petroglyphs and their possible meaning. Lots of walking. Could use more picnic tables. Bug spray is definitely needed during mosquito and black flu season. Gift shop has a farely good selection of items.
