Pho 88

The servers are really rude. There is a lot of noise on the phone and when I said I can't hear you over the noise, they decided to hang up. Won't be taking my business here again.

Been coming here for 28 years and I will never stop. Their shakes are the best & I love beef ball soul #114.

I was a bit shocked when the server threw the food on my table. I ordered a small pho and a cup of coffee. Both were tiny portion but costed me 20 dollars not including tips.

This used to be part of my childhood, the prices increased quite the bit. Nothing really changed except for the amount of people that used to fill the place, I always went at night and it had such a sparkly atmosphere. Now it feels dull and lonely.

The waiter? Service guy claimed our order was 70$ even though with tax and tip it wouldn't even be 50$. Maybe it was just a miscalculation, but we were almost charged like 20 dollars extra, without tip too. We HAD to tip anyway.

I came back to taste my childhood again, the food was good, the place was the same, something just changed. Most probably service, and atmosphere. I liked the crowded people, we used to have to line up to get a seat. Everyone would be chatting and laughing with their families and the street lights shined so brightly like 1000 suns, maybe I'm overexaggerating? It's really just different.

The cups had residue and black specks in it, and when we washed it and poured tea the particles kept coming. It wasn't the cleanest.

Still a love for the taste, maybe I'd come back every three years.

By far the best pho you will ever have in the gta! Large $12.95 pork chops & rice very delicious $13.75 & spring rolls $6.50 a lot of food low prices very tasty!

The food and broth is very yummy so I do recommend! However I recommend to only dine in for a few reasons:

1. Takes it sizes are not accurate. We had ordered a size small and large on the phone and got the same amount of noodles and soup for the two different dishes.

2. Unfortunately a few times they have gotten the order wrong over the phone and we didn’t notice til we got home and had tipped. Now I know to always check before I leave with the food. When we called back to explain and hope for an opportunity to have the correct meal made for us, they took no responsibility for the error or offered to make it right. In person they did correct a wrong order with no problem and the portions are generous.

50 cents extra for take out and if you want hot sauce and anther 60 you need to pay. Cutting corners on everything.

Ordered take out and I wasn't even provided with any cutlery. $15 for grilled chicken and pork chop is overpriced.it doesnt even include a fried egg.nuoc mam is not authentic.there are so many other better places than here.

Had rare beef pho & deep fried spring rolls. Broth was light but flavorful and the rolls were amazing. My fiancee (who usually doesn't get pho) loved it too. Highly recommend!

Great late night spot for pho. Update: The pho 88 at don mills is different from the one on Bamburg circle! Different owner. They are not affiliated with one another apparently. That’s what the waitress said.

Still no place like this for some pho time close late and service is fast!
From order to on table u are looking at less than 5 mins.
Soup base can be a little hotter but that’s just personal preference
Fired spring roll + special pho + fresh mango juice are highly recommended.
If you are looking for something different try 75!

Pho 88 always hits the spot on a cold winter day. It's been over a year since I had pho and it's still amazing!

Literally the best pho in all of Toronto. Have been to many many places, unreal…. Hands down the best broth. Sad to hear all the bad reviews lately though: (

Seriously! What went wrong with this restaurant?

It’s nothing like it used to be before Covid. The quantity and quality went down horrendously if you are ordering for takeout! Unreasonable price of spending $15 on ten pieces nail size chicken! So disappointed as a regular customer before Covid.

(Not to mention the rude attitude of one of the lady working there)

Absolutely dissapointed. My family would always come here for Pho for the past few years only to witness the deterioration in quality and customer service.

Their prices have gone up which is understandable due to the increase in minimum wage and the resulting inflation. However, they've also devolved in quality of the food and the amount of food served. I ordered a large pho which was basically soup and a sprinkle of noodles. It took me 5 bites to finish the entire noodle serving. I was literally able to pick up the entire serving of noodles in the bowl with my chopsticks (the attached photo. Freshly served LARGE pho). Moreover, they don't thaw the frozen meat before throwing it in the pho. They throw these beef slices still frozen in place, hence the wrinkled shape and the occasional odour.

The only consistent thing was their terrible customer service provided by that one lady. The lady that works behind the cash register most of the time does not care for any hospitality, she only cares for the money the customers bring. She will cuss you out with her eyes if you don't tip her.

I really hesitated on tipping them but the servers definitely work too hard to punish them for the lack of management in the kitchen and the register. I just hope the management isn't tapping into their tips. They really don't deserve any of it.

Thankfully I found another spot with better quality, amount, and customer service for an even cheaper price. Won't be coming back here.

Been a patron of Pho 88 for over 30 years. #270 special spicy (peanut & coconut) is my go-to that you won't find anywhere else, pair it with a pineapple milk shake.

Best pho that I've ever had.never disappointed at this place.perfect ratios of broth to noodle to meat.and the broth is very flavourful.

I went with friends that've been eating here for years. The staff showed us to a table and said she'd be back to check our vaccination receipts. Interesting that they don't check first before seating customers. There were tables outside for those that are not comfortable eating indoors and I'm guessing for those that cannot show proof of vaccination.

I ordered the wontons and there was a decent number of them. The broth was tasty and the wontons pretty filling. Overall, I thought it was okay but nothing special.

Beef moodle soup was $3 more expensive and was 30% smaller than what it was pre-pandemic. I get that they're trying to stay open, but this is unacceptable. No utensils or napkins came with my takeout order either. Came here often before the pandemic because it was a good, fast, and cheap place for a schoolday lunch, and a couple times over the past year to help support them, but this is the first time they've cut portions like this while raising the price. I definitely won't be coming back here unless they change things back.

I asked extra meat on our order and they charged us $6 + 13% tax for a small amount. The price isn’t on the menu either so they can change the price whenever they want. I’ve gone here for years and this has been the most disappointed I’ve ever been with the pricing. Definitely not worth the money. This place used to be great but quality has gone down along with the service. I recommend you go to a different Pho place.

I've been going here once a week for the past couple months. Good food and service, consistent quality and fair prices. The spring rolls are amazing.

I have been supporting this business for about 10 years. Having grown up in the area, it was the go-to place for my friends and family. I have many memories here and the food is decent.

Since I saw a lot of reviews about this restaurant charging more than what is listed on the menu/being greedy (e.g, being charged for an extra bowl, onions, raised price for takeout.), I was curious and decided to pay attention to how much my final bill was after dining in (i.e, keeping track of how much item was). Despite factoring in tax and paying cash (since I have seen reviews that they charge more if you use credit card), I was still overcharged. I understand that it is important to support local small businesses.however, even if they are struggling, us customers would likely understand if you need to raise the price for your items and reflect this change on a new menu - but what is not right is sneaking in charges, hoping customers do not find out. The menu that you provide to us when we are seated should be accurate and honest.

Before this dine-in experience, I would like to add that I also did take-out for 1 XL special pho. They list $12.75 as the price for this item and I was charged about over $15 when it was picked up. The reason why I never noticed this was because I never saw the menu until yesterday when I dined in and the above happened. It's not about the money to be honest, it was just how it was inaccurate and did not reflect their current menu price. This adds up if they do this for all of their customers.

I am very disappointed. I will NOT be coming back and will be letting my friends and family know. This review is to share my experience with others.

The most famous and my go-to Pho restaurant with my friends. The broth here is probably the best in the city.

It is true that the lady owner yells and might seem like she is very rude, but this is her natural expression and personality. She is very kind and will smile later LOL maybe this comments are coming from the newbie customers and they really dont know the lady owner very well. Anyways, I visited this restaurant again and brought my girlfriend here. The quality is still the same and my favorite is still delicious! I always order the SPICY PEANUT BUTTER BEEF PHO (I wish I took a photo!) and it never disappointed me. I will still keep on coming back when I get the chance. Order the food I mentioned and everything will be worthwhile!

This place has been our go to spot for food since moving to Canada. We still visit once a month!

Pho is good, but I read many comments on here, many customers experience the same problem. The owner always try to charge more than the price on the menu. I got charged extra for asking for a sauce bowl once, and beansprouts once. Other reviews mentioned they got charged for onion, 5% on debit card, automatic tip for take out food. So becareful when eating there

The pho here is absolutely delicious - the best in town! Soup base and meat are very flavourful, and service for takeout is very quick and efficient. Definitely recommend!

We got the Special Combination Noodle Soup, and Spring Roll, Grilled Pork Vermicelli. The noodle soup came with rare beef, well-done flank, tendon and tripe, the soup was quite rich and came packed with toppings. The vermicelli was also quite decent, we could taste the grilled pork being charcoal grilled, and the spring roll was flavourful but not crispy enough…

Take out is relatively pricier, food no good, the beef in Grilled Beef Vermicelli bowl (Bun Bo Xao) was not grilled but stir fried. No revisit.

Overcharged me by 30 percent for takeout. Be sure to check if they markup your price without telling you. Very sneaky

I have been coming to this location for many years! Always consistent and provide speedy service. My favourite thing on the menu is the spring rolls, and peanut broth beef noodles (I forgot the exact name). But highly recommend!

Very gross, spring rolls w/pork were all lettuce with tiny pork shreds. Egg rolls were mainly cabbage and soggy and gross. Pho tasted and smelled like old basement water.

I kept coming back because I like their barbecue chicken with soup noodles. Unfortunately I ordered once and they got the order wrong. I know I said a very specific thing on the phone verbatim but she insisted I ordered raw beef with chicken which I know I would never order. We ended up with a completely different meal, and we didn’t notice it til we got home and had tipped. Now I know to always check before I leave with the food. When we called back to explain and hope for an opportunity to have the correct meal made for us, they took no responsibility for the error or offered to make it right. The broth was not packaged securely and half of it was also spilled into the bag. I know the customer isn’t always right but I felt they could have at least offered a peace offering. We ended up disagreeing animatedly over the phone and she said continued to tell me that the way I ordered it made it confusing and she had to ask me many times to clarify, although we don’t recall her repeating the order back o us when we ordered on the phone. She said she wasn’t happy that I wasn’t happy with the meal, and only suggested I don’t order over the phone next time. I’m really disappointed as I like their food, and I know the pandemic has made it hard for restaurant owners, but this was a very distasteful experience! The food is yummy but be aware if you want to get service or have something made properly, it may not be done enthusiastically if at all.

Update: The woman at the front charged me 4+ more dollars for the same item I always get. The portions got smaller too. The food is good but they will make the price whatever they want just to pocket a tip for themselves. Ridiculous. You will lose your loyal customers that have come to you for years by doing this AND you will lose potential customers who will read these reviews.

My favourite pho place. #153 is my favourite (special spicy tofu peanut coconut Thai noodle soup) - so amazing. Broth is great no matter what you get. Been coming here for so many years. But the staff can be a bit nicer.they always ask you for more tip.

This restaurant have the worst service. She had a very bad attitude and pretended like she didn’t hear me 3 times when I was ordering. The portions got so small and it got a lot more expensive. Do not be fooled by the reviews from 3 month ago and look at the recent reviews posted for this place. They are all very accurate and I am very disappointed.

Terrible place, they yell hi when you walk in, then they ignore you, then they serve you cold tea, you tell them and the come back with warm tea. If you order the wrong item they get mad at you, I never asked for a refund instead just mentioned that this was the wrong dish we ordered, I wasnt even asking for it to be taken off the bill. Instead the manager started yelling at me and saying "look at your Face" in front of all the customers in the restaurant. I paid for the spring rolls and canceled my order. Spare youselves this place is a $hi hole. Boy cott as there are many more pleasant places to eat in scarborough. Never Never Never again will I go to this place instead! Save your money and go somewhere else where people appreciate you and don’t embarrass you.

Man, I’ve been going to pho 88 for the longest time, since I was 7. However, over the years, I've noticed the waitresses becoming ruder and the portions becoming smaller. I ordered a medium pho whilst my friend ordered a small. I practically got the same amount of noodles, perhaps even less, than her small. Got me really cheesed, alright. I believe that their business is now only driven by their lust for money, and not for the experience or food I used to have. >: (

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine, nice and fairly quick service, good food. The portions are decently sized.
May get busy during peak times (i.e dinner, weekend meal times).
Servers speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and a bit of English.

I just really don't enjoy this place that much. I won't say it's bad but it's not great either. Everytime I come here I end up saying I'm not going to come back again.then months pass and I give it another try and everytime I remind myself not to come back again.

The place is clean, nice decor, spacious, good service. But I don't go out for pho for those things, when I go for pho I'm looking for cheap and delicious. Which this place is not.

I thought this would be similar or in some way affiliated with the pho 88 in Markham which is my favourite pho spot. But this seems in no way connected to that one because the pho is bland and it's not cheap. The noodles have zero flavor and the broth is just mediocre.

Pho 88 has the ambience of a typical casual dining vietnamese restaurant in Saigon. I enjoyed a small bowl of their Special beef noodles soup which almost had the taste of the same bowl I had in one of the alley restaurants of Saigon. I found that the size of the fresh spring rolls were huge in terms of the diameter. Well if you haven't visited south vietnam for a bowl of authentic pho then you could experience and enjoy a hearty bowl here in Pho 88.

I would dare an individual to try the XL bowl of their Beef noodles soup.

I had the ‘Plain Rice Noodles’ under the veggie section and my boyfriend had the ‘Pork Chop Vermicelli’! We had the ‘Shrimp/Pork Rolls’ as a side. I usually don’t like chewing on the beef in pho so I either give it to my boyfriend or order the plain noodle soup without the meat. This restaurant gives you a more noodles if you choose this, unlike regular pho places. My boyfriend loved the vermicelli - they gave us many pieces of meat, refills for sauce willingly, and a very very fat bowl! The rolls were addicting and delicious, too! Highly recommend, since they‘re open for long hours!

Was a good experience in this busy vietnamese restaurant. Staffs are very friendly too. I ordered a peanut version of the Pho. Was very tasty and bit pricy, it was 11$ for a large one. But still ok, kind a fair price for the meal. It came with a lot beans sprouts.

Pho was delicious but could be better if was a little less sweet. But adding a bit of hot sauce made it taste very good. The noodles was good and the way I like thin and smooth. The soup was a bit sweet but still delicious. I definitely recomend this place for Pho lovers. It has vermicelli and other vietnamese food on the menu. It worth a visit here and all staffs are very friendly.

I've been coming since I started retaining memory as a child. I moved away now but came back last year during Christmas Eve to have pho with my dad and nothing has changed. 15 years and counting at this place!

An oldie, but a goodie! The original pho that everyone remembers. If you've never had pho, this the probably benchmark that pho is measured against.

I've been going to Pho 88 for many years and it has never disappointed. The broth is complex and flavourful. I usually have Pho Bo Tai or Pho Bo Date.

Don't forget to precalculate everything you eat there before you pay the bill. I got over charged on my bill 3 times in a row. They never give you a break down of the charge. It's always just a total on it. You can't find the cost of each item you eat.

Their food is good even though they don't keep the restaurant nice and clean. If you r ok with the atmospheres, it is a good place to visit.

Original main pho 88 restaurant. You van have your food so quickly after your order even if there are fully filled with people with long line up. I love theire deep tasted broth with freah meat. Thank you for being there for a long time without any changes.

The soup base is full of MSG coz I always felt thirsty after drinking the soup. But I still like the taste of the noodles and fast turnover (never had to wait long for a table)

I can see why is this place always so packed for dinner time. The pho is definitely better value compared to many other pho restaurants. The beef are soft although lean, soup-base has some msg, as expected, but you can taste the bone soup and sweetness from onion. A XL bowl is just under $11, so I’d say very good value. We got the 111 beef shank and brisket (bottom), 104 cooked beef/stripe/tendon (top), and deep fried spring roll (left).

Great place for pho. Noodle portions are slightly too big for me personally, but it's not that big of an issue because I can split with a friend

I love the Satay Beef Pho.its my favourite. The broth tastes really good with the sprouts, basil, thinly sliced beef. And hot sauce and hoison sauce. Not too heavy its just right. Very busy place always day and night. We takeout this dish alot that the owner recognizes my husbands voice. Haha
Tight tables. Dont like that part. Because i like a little privacy while eating. Overall good restaurant to dine at night.

The best place to grab a nice bowl of pho in the area (and more). I always come here with friends after the gym or even late at night (1am) and the quality of the pho is amazing.

Food comes out fast, taste great, and is very well priced.

Highly recommend the special bowl (111), fried spring rolls, and an avocado milk shake.
