I love this place. It was amazing. I got the beef vermicelli, and the chicken spring rolls. ABSOLUTELY my favourite meal ive ever had. Will be coming back. I think it was the time of day I came, but it was super quiet and peaceful and the environment was beautiful. I got to relax while eating my new favourite foods! Customer service was very nice and the people were very nice. Very clean restaurant. Props to the chef in the back. She did a great job with the meals. (I think it was a lady) :) thank you Pho Bo Ga King!
The food so AMAZING! The soup was so good! The service was outstanding! The popping bubble tea was my favourite! Will definitely recommend the restaurant, a 100 present! You should go to the restaurant! I will come back, restaurant was Amazing!
We ordered 2 rice wraps. There was only vermicelli and lettuce, no mint, no carrots, nothing. The peanut sauce was only half the container it was packed in. The pho I ordered lost half of the broth in the bag, there was no basil or lime and we were given "Louisiana Style" hot sauce instead of Siracha. Also chopsticks were not included. I guess they though we don't know what Vietnamese food is all about. Will DEFINITELY not be ordering from them again. Cheap ingredients and half are missing. Disappointing, especially at those prices.
I like this pho place the best out of the many options in this area. The reason? They give you a decent amount of meat. If you want fine dining, this isn't the place (is there such a thing as fine dining pho?). But this is a great option for regular fare with good serving sizes.
Do not recommend. They gave us vegetables that shouldn't be served to anyone. We ordered a couple vermicelli plates, and shrimp rice paper rolls with peanut sauce. The peanut sauce hardly tasted like peanuts and was super runny (this is really a personal preference issue). The shrimp in the rolls tasted a bit fishy, had old lettuce instead of Thai basil, and were mostly vermicelli noodles. Vermicelli had a good sauce. Oddly all the noodles were cut up, making it difficult to eat with chopsticks. Chicken was dry, pork was okay, shrimp was better than the wraps but also just okay. The spring rolls only had carrots inside. Some of the lettuce was brown, and none of the cucumber looked or tasted any good. I will not be returning. 2 stars because most of it (noodles & meat) was at least edible.
Ordered on Uber Eats today, and the pho with dumplings arrived completely uncooked… don’t know how this happened, but definitely won’t order from that place.
I ordered the Bun 3, combo ham Bahn mi and iced coffee. The food lacked flavour, pretty bland but good sized portions. The iced coffee was really good. The lady serving me was nice and attentive. Wish I could've rated this place a little higher.
Service was nice. But the food was almost dangerous to eat. Things didn’t smell fresh the meat had a strong smell to it the Spring rolls smelled so strong from stale oil. Spiderwebs on top of our table and on top of the table beside us unacceptable. You cannot leave spiderwebs in the dining room of the restaurant. Clean the your restaurant! Or stop serving people food just go find another thing you can do.
With all the choice we have for Vietnamese food in Ottawa, I do not recommend this place. The food was cold, the chicken super dry, the pho has little meat and the bol was dirty. But the worst thing is not the food it was the services, the waiter seems to be angry and not willing to serve/work, when you ask a question he just look at you and make you feel that you are bothering his life even though the restaurent was empty. The others pho bo ga are much better.
Best pho in Ottawa based on my wife's, daughter's and my own opinions. We've visited a lot of pho places in Ottawa and Pho Bo Ga King has the best pho, especially the broth! Also if you order the rare beef, it is actually served rare and cook until tender in the soup. I really like that and this is not easy to find (most serve the beef completely overcooked). The Restaurant is a quiet place with a nice relaxed atmosphere, another big plus in my opinion. I have eaten there often with my wife and daughter, and we all enjoyed our food each time. All of us will definitely keep coming back. My daughter loves the bubble tea and my favorite is the #07 rare beef and tendon pho.
Very lovely lady at the front counter, nice atmosphere. When you have such a friendly person working there its hard to be a screw up. Love their chow mein will go again.
Ordered the chicken beef pad Thai last week. Received a huge container filled with noodles and a few strips of beef. Absolutely no veggies or other garnishes, just a container of noodles pretty much. Will never order there again, very disappointing.
We were a regular customer of pho bo go King but today was our last visit. First there was a hair in our tea, and it was again another hair in my vermicelli. Very disappointed.
Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 6 and the restaurant easily accommodated us even though we didn't have a reservation. I ordered the medium Pho Tai Chin (#4 on menu) and it was delicious! The portions are generous and service was friendly. There are many "Pho Bo Ga's" on Somerset but this is one of the best and I consider it authentic Vietnamese.
Nice place in Chinatown, parking is a challenge. They have big variety of food and prices are decent (12 for small 15 for large). The food was tasty and the place is clean. My only comment is I ordered a dish with carb but I got no crabs. Very quick service but not enough staff to deal with the demand. We waited for someone to get us the bill but they were busy and we had to go to the counter to pay. I recommend
Had dinner here this week and both me and my partner got very ill afterwards. The extra shrimp I had in my Pho was not fresh at all, it was slimy and gritty. Very disappointed, the staff was so nice: (
I give it a 1 star, the food is si no good and the owner is extremely rude to the client. She over charge me over $50 and i called back to tell them what happened and they told me to come on the next day when the owner is there and when I came the owner said that it was my fault and i have to admitted or else she wont give me the money back. I was so angry and admitted it so i can get my money back but i will never come back there again!
I ordered from them using Uber eats. I was so shocked that they adjusted my order and charged me 3 dollars and change because my note asked for soya sauce and chop sticks. How the hell are you supposed to eat, with your hands? It is not advertised on their website that soya sauce and chop sticks are an extra charge. What a scam. I have no idea why I gave this place another chance. When the last time I was there. Some older man was sleeping on two chairs while the rest of the family was playing cards.
We have ordered before and enjoyed it, but we won’t eat here again. We are a group of four and just got terrible food. Undercooked freezer burnt dumplings, soggy spring rolls- we threw a lot of the meal in the garbage. So many other better places. If our meal is the new normal, this place will loose all their stars. Terrible.
Order a pho with extra chicken all it had was noodles it was such a rip off I paid extra chicken for nothing don't go hear there is lots of pho within one block
It was 'not' the greatest of outcomes for tonight's take home. Ordered a beef phō and unsure if they were tired or stressed (not an easy job), but they cut around the corners for my meal: broth is watered down, only got bean spouts (and had to ask for greens like basil), no lime (had to ask and the guy threw in a lemon.oy!), there was barely any hoisin sauce in the plastic little container. Not great for $19.00 (take out).
Won't go back for the night service (maybe someday later - all for promoting second chances). But, they are much better for a daytime experience and food!
I went there last night, and I can easily say that this is the best pho in the city. The pho is of very good quality. The portions are very, very generous. I was full with only a small! The service was fast and the staff was very friendly.
Good and fast service. Good food and portions. We both were happy, satisfied and full with our meals (Bun 8 and rare beef with meatballs vermicelli noodle soup)
My husband orders chicken pho with EXTRA chicken when we got home there was next to no chicken, mostly all noodles. If you call they don't listen to what you tell them even of they repeat the order to you they still screw up the order.pay for something they don't give you? NO THANKS! I got ripped off! Go to one of the other pho restaurants that are on the exact same block
THE BEST PHO IN OTTAWA. Ive been to many pho places but this one is by far the best. The price is affordable and soup is delicious! I highly recommend this pho place. The service is also fast and the staff are very kind!
I got two of their Vermicelli bowls (bun). It was very mediocre and not worth it. The spring rolls and toppings were reheated from frozen (including the vegetables, which looks like steamed frozen veggies), but the fish sauce, Vermicelli, and salad were good.
Man I don't know what to say. You can't sell this things especially for that price. Very bad meat you don't change oil for spring rolls which is dangerous and the soup taste like it was clocked last month. Avoid at any cost
Thought this place would be decent in terms of price and quality but was totally wrong! Just disappointed and overprice for the meals. Only one thing that was great, it was their smoothie bubble teas! Very rich, smooth and creamy! The food tasted old and bland.insufficient flavourings and sauce dip too! The water that they served had dirty things inside the cups…be careful and be attentive when drinking their water there! Not recommended coming here! U better off just get their desserts like ice cream and bubble tea drinks instead!
Excellent pho for a great price. There’s a ton of places all around somerset so honestly just try them all, but this is a great start to get a decent bowl for a good price!
Ordered bun with a mixture of shrimp, beef and chicken. Been going there for years. After last night, I certainly won't be returning. Ordered the usual bun. The shrimps were definitely spoiled but smothered in vinegar to mask the taste and there was hair in it. Called the restaurant to hear the young man giggling. It was amusing to him. No apologies but simply DRIVE BACK and we'll give you another. Drove back to be served the same rotten shrimps. I ordered a pop which he charged me full price for. This was a little test on my part actually. I had to wait twice for my meal and drive back from the westend. He still wanted his toony. Keep your rotten food and I'll mannered service. By the way, the bun is mostly rice vermicelli and frankly now tasteless. You just lost a customer for your great service and concern.
Great food. Terrible atmosphere and decor. This is either a take out/delivery spot or the super casual lunch spot. The broth for the pho is really rich (in a good way). Surprisingly good pad thai. Fresh rolls are good for the price. Overall I would give the experience a 3 star but the food a 5.
This place reminds me Vietnamese restaurants for locals in Ho Chi Minh City area. Interior doesn't boast of expensive materials or furniture, but nothing to complain about, because here you are coming to eat, not to take Instagram photos. Pho Bo soup tastes good; however I can't give it 5 stars, because of a little sweetness, that I don't recall I had when being in Vietnam. Spring-rolls are OK as well. Our 4 years old fussy eater finished them all in a couple of minutes:)
Delicious food! Can't remember what the dish was called but it's "Bun 10" on the menu! Lol (Don't know how I even remembered that haha) Anyways it has beef, chicken, sliced pork, veges with vermicelli.
Update from my previous review which was a 5 star, I hope this isn't indicative of future orders.
Generally Pho bo ga King is great food.
My most recent order of a medium rare beef pho was disappointing. The broth itself was less flavourful than usual. The bag only came with sprouts, No corriander, mint or lime.
My side order was pork rice wraps. This time the pork was also extremely dry and flavourless. Only lettuce noodles and the pork. The peanut sauce was generic and very runny.
I hope this was a bad day, I will see with my next order.
Came here for some late dinner when we were travelling in ottawa. The Service was really quick and efficient, servers were courteous enough. Only thing is that we ordered 2 orders of rice rolls but none of them had basil leaves in them, which i didn't think was too much to ask for since basically every viet places we went in Toronto they've always had basil leaves in the rolls (which is low-key the one key ingredient of a good roll tbh). Pho noodles soups we ordered were however superb in taste. Def a good place to eat at but their rolls just got my pet peeve.
Love this place! The food is always amazing, the portions are hearthy and it's still affordable. Honestly the experience is amazing. Takeout was quickly done and we took it home and the food was still hot. Love this place!
I recommend the special 9 (Wong Tong and BBQ pork soup)
I went to this restaurant yesterday morning to have Tomyum and Bun Bo Hue. Have to say that the chef is awesome. I am really satisfied with those soups. Gonna be back soon!
Disappointed. Prices are on the high end compared to other Pho places, which is fine but it was coupled with terrible food. I wouldn't give it another try.
Been frequenting this restaurant since my university days. Amazing food with quick service. If you're bold and want to challenge your appetite, try the king size (XL).
Amazing place! Me & my boyfriend have been to many many pho places and this is our favourite. Very fresh, lots of options and super tasty! Not to mention economical. 11/10
Delicious! We had group of friends who went for lunch here and everything tasted delicious! The S13 beef stew soup had CHUNKS of beef that was tender and flavorful. The soup base was very beef and carrot-y. Highly recommended!
I ordered the 44. BBQ pork, I was expecting a normal broth with pork and Noddles. This is not what I got, I will not be coming back or ordering for the following reasons. Unfortunately, the broth was flavourless. Also, the noodles where under cooked. Was a waste of food and my money.
Not the greatest experience for this first timer. Food was substandard and service was not so great. Had to actually go to the counter to make my order. Place was not very busy and seemingly by pointing out but I want it on the menu did not receive my order. With all the other locations in such close proximity I would definitely choose another one next time
Fantastic Pho, the broth is fabulously flavoured. Parking on a Saturday around dinner time wasn’t too bad either. The staff was politely, courteous and pretty decent with English which is something that I find challenging. It has your typical china town feel too, and the portions are great. Pho for two with an appetizer was less than $30! Can’t go wrong!
Disappointing experience at the restaurant - poor food quality and pricey for its worth. We were asked to pay first the minute we ordered. Portion was smaller than expected. My boyfriend ordered grilled chicken - it came out dry and bland. Won't go back again.
The meat dish was quite good, quantity was generous, but the BIG mistake was the pho, which came lukewarm. I can never understand or accept soup that doesn't come *piping hot*, it renders whatever taste of the pho irrelevant, which was a shame since it tasted OK.
Great food, great spot and fast service. The only downfall is when you have a late night snack here, the portion size is a bit less than you’d expect during the day.
Definitely not the cleanest pho place but I've been going there for years and I do love how attentive the staff are. Best spring rolls and love my S7 soup
C'était super! Mon copain et moi sommes allés tard dans le soir (21h00) - il a des bonnes horaires. La soupe (pho) était fantastique, et authentique avec toutes les additions nécessaires. Le resto est propre et donne le vibe de très familial.
The place is for a quick stop to eat as well as for a cozy and casual meet up. The food is authentic and delicious. This is the place where before the rebuild my friend showed me how to properly use chop sticks.
Very fast service, great pho, and they have parking around the back (which for my friend and I, made it an easy choice out of all the pho places in the area)
Great food, really flavorful, lots of extra sauces to try such as chili paste etc.prices are quite affordable, $12 for a large beef noodle soup. Overall a great restaurant I will be coming back to.
