The blood in the spicy noodle soup was clearly spoiled, and the steamed minced pork&sausage roll tasted very funny as if some of the ingredients in it was also spoiled. The only ok dish we ordered was the classic pho. The milk shakes were ok but the ice coffee with condense milk was undrinkable.
Food is great but service is terrible. Have been there 5 times now and the only reason me and my wife go is for the food. As soon as food is brought to the table we dont exist to the so called servers. Only place ive ever eaten at that i will not tip! Learn how to take care of ur customers. Those other reviews are definitely fake!
Good restaurant overall, but too pricey for vegetarians. Their veg pho and some veg other dishes don’t come with tofu and is a big up charge. Every other Vietnamese restaurant here gives tofu for free in their pho. Too bad because I’ve been going here since I was a kid and would love to still go now that I’m veg.
We went on a weekend afternoon, it wasn’t too busy and we got a seat right away. They gave us our tea and menus when we sat down.
After we ordered, our food came pretty quickly. We got #452 BÚN BÒ HOẶC HEO XÀO XẢ ỚT which is Stir fried beef with lemon grass & hot pepper on vermicelli ($12), you can also ask for pork instead. I think we were surprised when this dish came out because lemon grass, from our previous experience, didn’t look like that. It was good but just not what we expected.
We also got #215 BÚN BÒ HUẾ which is thicker vermicelli noodles with beef, pork blood pudding in spicy soup ($12). I’ve had better versions of this dish, the soup was not as rich as other places i’ve tried. It just seemed like they had the pho broth and added some extra spices to it to make it spicy, which is not what the broth should be. It was still okay.
The portion sizes for both dishes were quite big though so we were very full afterwards.
Finally, we got the #806 Mango milkshake ($5). From what I remembered in the past, this drink was very thick and creamy. So delicious, but when we got this, it was super sugary and icy. Not what I remembered it used to be. I wouldn’t recommend this unless you are expecting mango slush.
Our waiter was kind and I was able to get pho for takeout which came out very quickly. I would recommend the pho over these dishes. My family and I usually come here for dinner but this time was just a bit of a miss! Still recommend this place though!
Beef quality is really really average. Instead of putting fresh green onions or cilantro in the soup, the restaurant used chopped raw onions which seriously affect the soup taste. Spring roll is also average.
Not easy to find as entrance is below street level with parking off a back street. But the food is great and extra large portions at great prices. I have gotten the medium Pho soup and have enough left for lunch the next day. Staff is nice, good selection and orders come quick. Ordered another meal to go and they have it ready for when we were finishing the meal there.
Tldr: I ordered #321 Rare beef and beef ball pho and shared Vietnamese Style pork and shrimp salad rolls. 100% would get the salad rolls again, tasted super good. Pho was also good, as I expected no less from Pho Dau Bo! Would recommend for quick and authentic Pho.
I didn't realize I hadn't had pho for almost a year until I've decided to visit Pho Dau Bo today. I was extremely excited as I have previously (pre-pandemic) been here before and really enjoyed my food along with how fast the food arrived to our table. When it comes to Pho restaurants and their appetizers, it's really hard to know what to order. My friends have already tried some and said we should share the vietnamese style pork&shrimp salad rolls. THEY WERE AMAZING. Peanut sauce perfeclty complimented the rolls wrapped with rice papers, shrimp did not taste fishy at all along with lots of veggies. As for pho, I ordered the rare beef and beef ball pho. The broth was amazing, noodles were also great. One comment to add though is the beef was not as soft as I expected. Other than that minor issue, we had a wonderful (and quick) time at the restaurant. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for cheap and fast pho!
Prompt and amicable service, food was ok (phô soup), i was told it's THE place to try, but i wasn't wowed - could have been more flavourful, meat was a bit too tough.
I called them the other day when I was downtown and had been wanting pho for such a long time, the lady who answered the phone was very helpful in helping me place my order to pickup curbside. Called when I arrived and waited on the sidewalk for the gentleman to bring my order and help me in paying for it. Got home and had a nice hearty bowl of pho, omgggg it was fantastic so filling and delicious. I will be ordering again from them soon. Oh I almost forgot I ordered 4 of their spring rolls with the dipping sauce as well.
The owners are always extremely nice and pleasant, the food is delicious, and the prices are beyond fair. I'm always surprised when someone hasn't been here, so it's one of the first places I'd take them to try something new!
We drove all the way to kitchener to get the 469 but they gave me the 468.
I really really wanted the steamed egg and pork floss.both missing from the order because they gave me 468. They charged me for 469 though and on the bag they wrote 469 so it seems like it was the kitchen that messed up my order.
I'm very disappointed as we traveled for this since our usual pho place didn't offer the steam egg and pork floss.
I have been coming to this restaurant for a couple of years now and it is one of my favourite places In the whole city. The staff is always friendly, quality food comes to the table quick and I love the atmosphere of the restaurant! 10/10 would recommend
The inconvenience of going up and down the stairs, and I can smell a strong smell of bleach when I enter the door. Canceled the idea of sitting down and ordered a takeout order. The meal is delicious.
Great portion and price! Been here many times pre-covid but since it's not available on UberEats, I haven't been here for a while. I ordered a couple dishes today to pick up and the food was just as good as it used to be! I've noticed some restaurants I used to go failed to maintain the quality of ingredients since the pandemic but it seems like that didn't happen here. Glad to see them keeping their business consistent in the quality:)
This is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant, hands down! The food is very authentic and you can taste the quality of ingredients. I don’t live in the city but I always make a stop here whenever I can. I had the pho, rice rolls, and spring rolls. The broth is what makes the pho, and boy, they nailed it here! Their pho, especially in cold weather will hug you and literally rebuild your soul. The broth is so beefy and flavourful that you don’t need to add Hoisin or other sauces. Doesn’t taste at all MSGy either. The pho comes in three sizes, S, M, L and they are all great portions for the price. The appetizer rice roll with ground pork is really great. Again, nice portion size and very tasty. The outside of the rice roll is thin but holds together nicely. It also comes with a pile of julienned veggies to add as a topping. The spring rolls are fantastic! I do have a #1 title holder for spring rolls in London, but as far as spring rolls go, this place would be #2. Spring rolls here are big and sooo meaty, you’ll never want to have one of those other spring rolls with mostly bean sprouts. My bill for the three items (all small size orders) came to $20.60 after tax! Come on! Can’t beat that anywhere! The entrance doesn’t look like much, but it’s the food that you’ll be coming back for here. Enjoy!
It's a chain of restaurants, but the ambiance would make you think it's more of a hole in the wall type joint. The food and service were good, I only wish they still had the laughing cow logo!
Delicious food! We've been bringing my daughter here since she could sit, and they're great about bringing an extra bowl and scissors (to cut the noodles from my pho).
When you order you'll fill out the number of your meal/drink options on a form and the staff brings your food to you. They're fast and polite, but it's not like a regular restaurant where they check up on you regularly. It's not fancy, but it's affordable and has fantastic pho.
This place has the most delicious food ever and you get a lot of food for your money. Out of 5 I give them 4 because they lack cleanliness. The staff never interact with you but that’s okay, they seem nice anyway.
Its so a-pho-dable.how can you go wrong? All jokes aside.maybe its the pho, maybe it the bubble tea, maybe its the nostalgia.still one of my fave pho places in KW.
Hidden in the lower level of the building, there is deceptively more space in here than you would think. The pho was good, though a little tasteless; perhaps their sauces are not quite as spicy as you might like.
First time here. Was in the neighbourhood and was craving some pho. First impressions, basement restaurant, decent size with authentic Vietnamese staff. Decor was definitely dated, food was alright. I have definitely had better before but I guess if you're craving pho in the area there's really no other option, winner by default! Price is very reasonable and portion sizes are decent. Broth had some flavor and again was just decent.place was really busy but waiter forgot drinks and one of the meatballs in my pho was still cold/frozen in the middle! I guess that's how the 1 pho places is like in town. I probably will return if I'm in the neighborhood and craving some pho as there is really no other place nearby and again would really only recommend if you're craving pho and in the area as there are tons of better places but none nearby.
I went to this restaurant with my colleagues for lunch. It was not that busy between 12 to 1 pm. They served tea first. I ordered stir-fried vegetable with curry and steamed rice. The flavor was good. We all had a great lunch experience. You'll find authentic Vietnamese food here.
Don’t let appearances fool you from outside, but the food is fantastic. This place is perfect for groups.
A great family restaurant in town for many years.spring rolls and beef noodle soup#342 always my favorite. Staff are friendly and serving hot food fast, at reasonable price. Free parking at rear.
Love this place. Been coming here 15 years, and its always been good food at an excellent price. It's especially good if you are broke, because for around ten bucks you can more food than you can eat in a single sitting. Do yourself a favor and try their fried spring rolls, they are outstanding (best in the tri cities)
Food is good I usually get the 343 item. The price difference between sizes is reasonable. A large lasts 2 to 3 meals for me lol but may vary based on another's appetite
Best Springrolls Ever! Sooo Good. Soup (Pho) broth is so tasty! I've ordered so many things off the list. Too many to name. Even items I can't pronounce. And everything has always tasted amazing. Have gone here so many times. Prices are respectable and affordable. Service is fast, friendly and helpful. Can't say enough good things.
Friendly staff, very reasonable prices, great portion sizes, huge menu, and great for little kids, and people of all ages. We go for birthday dinner, dinner with friends, or just cheap dinner out for the family. Been so many times and not once have I, or anyone else at the table, had a bad experience.
The bathrooms and general decor of the place are really not that bad considering where this place is located! (old building, old part of the city, kinda sketchy)
I can't even believe this happened. But i got very sick and was not able to go home for an hour. The plate did not look normal and when i noticed there was a shrimp which was not supposed to be there, I knew there was something not right with this. I am done. Some vietnamese are very good restaurants and some are really not.
Incredibly tasty, and easy on the wallet. The fried spring rolls were served hot and fresh, and the pho was perfect. Parking can be difficult to find on a weekend so plan accordingly.
Parking now is horrible. Too crowded, on an angle. Fast service but the last time we went, my pho wasn’t done the way it normally does. Tasted like a left over broth from previous day. Will try again next time.
Great food for cheap, reasonably quick service and friendly staff. Only downside is a $10 minimum for debt card, however you won't really mind because most entrees are short of that.
I have been going here for almost 20 years and will continue to go there. Best place for pho hands down. Prices are good and the food is even better. I would definitely take any newbies there.
It might seem unexpected, but this is our favourite restaurant to take three little kids. Our kids love ordering off the pictures on the menu. The staff will provide a bowl for each child, along with scissors which makes cutting food really easy. Best of all, the final bill is easy on my wallet.
Also, lots of free parking out back. Though note: this restaurant is not wheelchair accessible.
