My boyfriend and I wanted Pho at 4: 30am after a night of drinking and seeing Pantera. This place was phoCKING 10/10. We actually went back immediately for seconds haha.
I love the beef pho. It always comes with fresh herbs which is nice. The service is fast and I love that they're open 24 hours. I've brought so many people here since I first tried it. I removed one star because to could be cleaner.
Neither the food nor the service comes near the ~$40/person (without alcohol) price point they charge. Small pho is now up to 19.99 and sides are 14.99. Drinks start at 9.99 for a small shake.
The food itself is actually half decent but the server didn't even check in once. Better and cheaper within walking distance.
I usually order from here at least twice a week. They messed up my order and when I got home I saw it wasn’t right and the girl working said I could come back and she would give me a new soup. I went back today and the manager with short black hair and glasses said that I need to come drive back 20 mins and return the food and that she would not be giving me the correct order. I won’t be coming back here again. Poor customer service and definitely very cheap low class mindset.
Went there this past weekend for a bowl of late night pho, only to realize that it now costs $21. The recent markup is insane and so we just walked out. Fix your prices, it’s the most expensive, for average, pho in the city.
Very mediocre tasteless food with a price tag of a high end restaurant. How do you end up spending $30+/person for such basic food. I've read other reviews and everyone's been complaining about the price hikes. Whoever's reading this, go elsewhere.
Great place to go after a night out! I had small size number 16 (rice noodle soup with beef) and it was delicious! They serve fresh bean sprouts and fresh basil with it. And it's open 24 hours! Highly recommended!
Amazing broth. Love the pho honestly. Place needs some life though. Its super quiet except the sounds of dishes banging in the back. Maybe a radio? A tv for news? Something.
Would not recommend. Super expensive, cash only, and mandatory 15% tip that they don’t tell you about. When paying at the front she didn’t give a receipt, she just wrote the total on a piece of paper. Ended up paying $50 for two medium bowls of pho. Pho was very average nothing special. Very disappointed.
I have been going to pho pasteur occasionally for the past 20 odd years, on and off.however, the morning of aug 8,2016,10am, will be my last visit to this now horrible restaurant.i ordered a medium sized bowl of pho, beef shoulder with tripe.the service: after i put my order in, it only took a few minutes.the server brought my condiment plate and bowl of soup together.usually the condiments are delivered first, then the soup.what i got:
the condiments: the basil and sawtooth corriander are old, and of poor quality.the bean sprouts are quite old, and yellow beige in color.fresh bean sprouts are white when fresh.the soup: the broth was quite murky.the broth was also EXTRA oily, and its temperature was lukewarm.i am pretty sure that my bowl of soup was takened from the bottom of a pot of old soup; it was that bad.they should have told me or not serve me the soup at all.the beef shoulder and tripe were okay.but what really disgusted me was the quality of the broth: it was bad.if i could post the rating WITHOUT A SINGLE STAR, i would have preferred that.pho pasteur does not deserve 1 star at all for what they served me.there are some very good pho restaurants in toronto.here is my short list: - Golden Turtle, Rua Vang, 125 Ossington Street, Toronto (one of the best in the city), it is north vietnamese style broth, near-clear in character - Pho Huong Truong, 3370 Keele Street, Toronto
Oct 2022. Its post covid and im curious about the state of pho pasteur.ordered a small beef and tripe pho and its certainly better than what i experienced awhile back. Its a younger group of people running it now (still a family run business) and its better service than my prev visit. 3 stars from 1. It will still be last on my list in the old chinatown district.
My family and I have been loyal customers for over 5 years, and I am SO angry and disappointed at how badly the business has changed! Last night they lost our business forever. As many reviews have noted, the prices have recently undergone an insane markup! I live in Aurora now but still make the drive downtown once in a while because the pho had been the best I've ever discovered. I did not know the prices had changed before I went in last night. Brought my $40 cash and ordered 3 small soups. Two were to be only noodles and broth. Again, ordering this for years without issue and they always charged us less for such a basic pho. Last night was staff I had never seen before. They acted totally confused and offended by my order. Tried telling me plain soup is "yucky" and I should change my order. I told them I've been getting this for years, no problem. Finally they figure it out and then hand me a bill for $50! I said for 3 small takeout soups? I look and they are charging me $15 for the small bowl of just noodles and broth. I again explain how I've been coming for years, getting charged less, and that I had drove down all the way from Aurora. I said I only brought $40 cash like always. They gave ZERO cares. Said maybe we did it that way before but not anymore. So I left there with only 2 soups instead of the 3 I wanted. For the sake of $9, NINE, you just lost an entire family of loyal customers. Who still traveled in during covid and everything. I am so furious and letdown. I see many people are angry with your insane prices now and I hope it damages your business and causes you to remember the customer is important!
Prices did increase, food temperature was so so, but portions are just as large as before so, it's fine. Definitely get the beef brisket with baguette. Spring rolls still great. Pho also great. But when a bowl of pho is now $18, you really question if you should just make it yourself lol.
Not authentic. I didn't have much expectation for the taste just need a bowl to feed myself, but the experience is terrible because the whole restaurant is full of smell of cigarettes. Apparently there were someone in the kitchen smoking. I was there in a weekday late afternoon. The staff were unoccupied. Perhaps they were smoking for break. I'm a non-smoker and this made me very sick. My clothes soaked in the awful smell when I got out of the restaurant. My friend took me there and said he heard this shop has a good reputation. I believe he meant the opposite pho shop, he's from uptown probably made a mistake. Not recommended.
They actually don't like to serve you here. I've used my debit/visa here before and I came one late evening and they said cash only. I saw others paying debit so I don't know why they were treating us differently. They told us to write down our own orders as I saw them continue to take verbal orders from others. I just wanted take out but they were being extremely rude.
24 hour pho - what's not to love? Huge bowl of veggie pho! My only dislike was that there was a lot of cauliflower in it and it's not my fave vegetable but other than that, I'd go back.
Racist staff! Telling your customers to leave and making a scene in front of the whole restaurant? This place needs to be shut down! Such a disgrace to the city of Toronto. This city is a DIVERSE CITY! The audacity for workers there to even say such nasty things I’m still in shock.
I had the Curry chicken Pho. I destroyed it! The broth was full flavoured, fully bodied the curry and coconut milk balance with fresh herbs. There was ALOT OF CHICKEN, and it was so tender it fell of trh bone. It was the perfect late night meal, with zero regrets! ️
This is it. This is the only place to rely on. A great selection of combinations and always open. It's in my top ten list for 10 different countries. If you are lucky enough to go late late at night you will experienced the badass pinkhaired man who keeps that ship in shape. If you are drunk and reading this, stop looking at your phone and get some damned Pho, will ya?
I was hungry like a wolf in the middle of night in Toronto Chinatown and desperate to have a pho. And lo and behold I found Pho Pasteur! The food is sublime, service friendly, AND They are open 24 hrs. What more could one ask for? Oh yeah, bigger spoons. Those spoons are too small.
Great pho.prices are ridiculous. $22 for a small pho (with tip). Just ONE SMALL. I kid you not. I know food costs have gone up but that is an insane mark up. No matter how good the pho is, that price has lost you a customer.
This has been my go to place for many years due to it's 7/24 access and quality pho. However, they really jacked the prices when they re-opened $19 for a large bowl is pricey. There are other places downtown you can get XL for $15 but if you are craving it after hours, I would still recommend this place for service and quality, if you are willing to pay for it.
I've come here as a customer for many years. The pho is top knotch. However, I've always come here under the anonymous veil of being a simple customer amongst many on a busy weekend night.
However, most recently I came in under unusual circumstances - as an Uber Delivery driver. The owner, who was working front of the house orders alone, was getting slammed. Unfortunately, the driver before me took my order and left an incorrect order behind, a lose lose for both the restaurant and myself. Mainly, I felt bad for them.
However, despite the stress- they promptly Whipped up a fresh order for my customer. While I waited, the owner (who many regulars seem to know by name) offered me a mango smoothie, from the order mistakenly left behind. In only a matter of a few minutes, the two of us connected in our misfortune. We had made the best out of the situation. All the while, I saw him greet customers with the utmost warmness and genuine nature. Every single customer was welcome and treated like family.
These guys are the real deal. They are the local businesses run by good people who deserve to be supported loudly and proudly during this pandemic.
Disregard any negative comments. Clearly, they are not from regular customers, of whom they have many of for good reason. You can please some of the people some of the time.
Truly great food, great people. You will be taken care of. Stop by and give them a try. You'll be glad you did.
I have made Pho Pasteur a regular destination anytime I am hungry after midnight. Admittedly, I order the same selections each and every visit but I tend to stick with what i like. The pho is great. Significantly better than the versions I have received from other Vietnamese restaurants in Toronto. Though at times there has been a language barrier, the staff are friendly and the service prompt.
We ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, chicken vermicelli, pho dac biet, avocado milkshake, and the coconut milkshake.
We ordered takeout and they made the milkshakes on the spot so that they were fresh. The size is pretty big and they tasted good. As a note, the vegetarian spring rolls came with sweet and sour sauce. The spring rolls were really crispy and the pho was really good.
However, the prices were pretty high compared to other Vietnamese restaurants; we ended up paying around $60 total.
Chef Boyarde (notice their logo) has really out done himself on this one, but I think he needs to stay in his lane, or should I say… his can. You’ll find all your western pho favourites in this establishment: mystery meat, writing your own bill, and local anti-vax hillbillies who won’t shut up about the bank robbery they just pulled off. The soups (chicken and beef) were good portions, and the staff was friendly, but it wasn’t pho tan that’s for sure.
Food was good but it’s not a 24/7 everyday. Went there during Boxing Week and they told us they would close at 11pm which is still awesome but there r ppl came in later got rejected for ordering food, so call in before you asume it’s 24/7.
First and foremost they didn’t check proof of vaccination which is required for dine ins. The washrooms were filthy (hair all over the sink and no paper towel), dirty tables, and dirty condiments. My order was completely wrong, which was fine with me but I still was a little disappointed about that. To be honest, very extremely over priced for what you get imo. Ps. Bring a fly swapper with you to the restaurant if you choose to dine in.
Visited late at night and pretty sure it’s an after-normal-hours menu because prices are insanely high but I guess when you want pho in the middle of the night and everywhere else is closed, you’ll have to pay the premium. Pho is good though and the milkshakes are delicious too.
Been a repeat customer for many years. This place is a toronto staple and hits the spot everytime I come here. Open late at night, and always a good time
-This place inflates their prices at night. 2 spring rolls cost $15 and pho costs $18 instead of what they advertise normally. -They DO NOT check passports (Anti-vaxx and Omicron welcome) -It is cash only so they don't report their earnings -When I asked about why they inflate prices, the workers got very defensive and aggressive
The place would be shut down by public health standards. The food is actually not terrible but it is seriously a scam.
It’s a Vietnamese noodle restaurant. I visited this restaurant to have a taste of their noodle but instead, it’s frustrations that I got. I ordered noodle with grilled pork. The lady didn’t wrote it down and maybe she got sidetracked and after 5 minutes, she came back asking what I had ordered. So, I repeated my orders again. Then, 2 white ladies came in. They ordered their food. To my dismay, their orders were served first. I didn’t say anything. My order came in 10 mins later. After my dinner, I had to go to the counter to pay because the elderly waitress never bothered to come out of the kitchen. I had no idea what she was doing inside. Then, I was informed that they don’t accept credit or debit cards. Fortunately, I had some cash in my pocket. She should have informed me at the time of my order that they only accept cash. Very frustrating.
I used to like it here because I actually like their food but I don't I won't be coming back anytime soon. We came late night so we got seated fast. The server noticed us right away so she gave us menus. I was surprised that they DID NOT CHECK FOR YOUR VACCINE PASSPORT. We got ours ready expecting them to check but they didn't. I was very disappointed too because there were two groups of people that came in and I notice the second group that came in WASN'T EVEN WEARING MASKS. Needless to say I don't feel safe going back there anymore. Not at least until covid is done.
Two people and I sat down and had a bowl of pho each, and ordered a shared appetizer. A different waiter gave us our bill, and charged us for 7 items in total. When I asked what the other three items were, the guy started yelling at us. So we just paid and left. The same waiter told us we couldn’t have water until we ordered, then we get charged for more items. Don’t recommend.
Holy moly. These prices are crazy! I know prices have gone up but this is insane. We waited a while for our meals even though it was just two bowls of noodles and the restaurant wasn't full. At one point when my order was being brought to me, our server stopped to answer a question from the table beside us. He just put my bowl of noodles down at that table while he had a conversation with other guests while I waited, at the table beside them.
They increase their prices after 10pm and it's crazy expensive for a mediocre meal ($20 for a bowl of pho, $15 for spring rolls). The service is terrible too.
This was my pho spot pre covid and it was my first time coming back recently only to see they pretty much doubled the prices. I understand raising prices, but how did it go from like $8.99 to $16.99.not cool.
The reviews about the service being poor it 100% true. My friend and I went late at night after work to grab something to eat before going home. Waited 20 minutes for someone to come to the table to take the order when the restaurant was pretty much empty (only one other customer was there before us). $16.99 for a small bowl is way overpriced in my opinion. By the time I was ready to pay, my friend and I were the only one in the restaurant. When I asked to split the bill between myself and my friend as I wanted to pay with credit and my friend wanted to pay with cash, I was told that splitting the bill was too much work which I didn't understand given no other customers were there. There are many other great pho restaurants in Toronto with way better service. Take your business somewhere else.
It was good like a 6/10 but it made me uncomfortable that they were approaching me without a mask and that their cups and utensils were not washed properly.
This place is over priced for what you get. The only reason it’s still in business is because of its location and late hours. We went and we can smell smoke and the bathroom.
I am also unhappy that they charged $3.00 for paying with interac. A small pho ended up being $18.80. That price is ridiculous, and the amount or quality of food is not worth this price.
Used to come here often with no issues but recently staff is unfriendly and rude. Last time our group was seated and never spoken to again. We had our order ready and even after calling to get their attention they simply walked by and continued serving others. People had arrived, ate, and left all in the time we had been seated with no service. Will not come again.
Understand the cost of operation is high, but while many other restaurants are offering discount at various depth, this place is charging $15.99 for a L pho and charging up to $18.99 for a vermicelli. I personally find it very expensive given other options available in the area. Right across the street there is a Malaysian restaurant that offers lunch specials for $9.75 with a pop and funny enough also offers pho. I know where I am going next.
