Contrary to other reviews, I haven't had many problems with management since I moved in five months ago. The application process was a breeze. There were some problems with my rent payment, and management never hastled me about it. While it's true that they ask you to fill out a service request form if you have any issues, they usually address them promptly. All in all I'm happy to be living here!

My "locked" bike was stolen from the bike room, located in the basement and only accessible to the tenants! And the first thing I hear from the super is there's nothing we can do! It is the second time something of mine is stolen. Last time police had them review the security footage when my amazon parcels were stolen from right underneath the camera in the lobby. They IDed the thief but Homestead refused to provide the phone number of the tenant to the police, saying the tenant did not have a number on file! Talk about going out of your way to protect a thief! The manager and the staff are unapologetic, always ready to tell you what is not their job, and not at all interested in serving the tenants they were hired to serve.

Was lied to about bed bugs and stuck outside in the heat and cold for treatments with 3 animals and husband. When I show proof of smoking on balconies I am the one who gets blamed. They don’t seem to interested in helping the disabled people and seem to always want to write paperwork to try to make you leave with nowhere to go.

They knew my neighbour had a bad bedbug infestation and didn’t tell, or spray, anyone around her.

The halls are always dirty. They have break ins in the parking lot and bike rooms and they don’t report to police or tenants. They are rude and uncaring. They won’t take responsibility for anything. Rent is way to high. I would Not recommend moving here

This building was one of the best living place in Ottawa until Homestead took over. The current management is very unprofessional. The building manager is rude and uneducated. No manner doesn’t know how to approach tenant in a professional way. The property manager doesn’t respond to tenants complaints. This building is not even secure anymore as someone stolen my bike seat from locked bike room. I don’t think they do proper security check anymore as they only see money. Try to Avoid.

Thanks for the recent post your honesty is appreciated. I’m moving to Ottawa in the next few months and was considering submitting an application for an apartment in this building. Won’t be doing that anytime soon. Hopefully head office actually looks at this info and looks into this. Not good for their reputation or business. I’ll be seeking other accommodations.

I'm actually moving out of this building as I have purchased my first home! But I have to say - it is so bitter sweet! Patti (one of the building managers) is so kind and sweet! Always a smile on her face and super helpful! She made my moving out experience so easy and really took the time to make sure I had what I needed. She is definitely one of the best ones to have worked at this building so I will really miss having her around every day. Sam is such a nice guy too! Super friendly and smiling all the time. Both of them are very hard workers and truly care about the tenants. I will miss the other tenants too! The building is mostly seniors which makes me feel very safe and they are some of the cutest people around. I always have a welcomer when I come home and I love it:) I will miss this place

The property management is a scam. They will lie to you, damage your property, and screw you out of hundreds - IF NOT THOUSANDS - of dollars. BEWARE BEWARE. DO NOT RENT HERE

Building is going downhill everyday. My uncle lives here and it’s never been so bad.
Building management is completely incompetent and not helpful. Where did you find these staff? Are they even qualified to manage such a large building? They do no want to address tenant issues and would rather brush the issues aside rather than actually do any work to resolve the problem. A lot of seniors who currently live in the building feel unsupported by the current building manager. The consensus is that they are not dealing with tenant issues in order to push the old tenants out so they can charge new tenants more rent and make more money. Disgusting!

Previous building management company actually took the time to speak with the tenants of the building and worked to help the tenant. With current management in place I DO NOT recommend moving in! Save yourself the money and piece of mind!
