It's been a while since I came here to qualify to win 'A sold out Taylor Swift's Concert'! Be it didn't win.

As a performer, i cannot recommend this venue less.their security was turning away fans, friends, and my own family at an all-ages show for ridiculous things like calling ID's fake, saying our access passes AS HEADLINERS AND CREW were void or invalid for basic areas like balcony and the green rooms, and threatening my own band members and crew with physical violence at times for simply trying to figure out what was happening to our loved ones in a civil manner.we attempted to talk about it and try to find more information on their security personnel but because of the excuse of hiring third party security, we weren't able to get any information and were told the more we resisted the likelier it would be for us to be sued if anything happened to their staff.as i continue to post across my social media about it, they continue to market the show as a success and only post about how i was supposedly having the time of my life, KNOWING our qualms and ignoring them all.i used to see concerts here as a kid and i was so excited to perform as an artist now; but seeing all of this go down, on my birthday celebration show as well, was ridiculous and i cannot express any more how disappointed i am.i will no longer be seeing any more concerts here, let alone performing at the space or recommending my friends do the same.

I cannot recommend this place, its dirty, sound is so-so, silly rules at the door. For 130$ i'm going else where

Mafia type of location. Cash here cash there. Performance was the best but it has nothing to do with the venue.

I appreciate this venue! I just find the layout very clausterphobic, disorganized and kinda dirty.

The Phoenix has always been hit or miss for me but the last 3 times it's definitely been miss. Poor organization for letting people into the building, making people wait out in the pouring rain due to bottlenecking. The power went out during the last 2 shows I've been to as well. The first time the power came back on after a couple of minutes but the second time just last weekend the power went out half way through the persons set and never came back. The performer basically couldn't do their last 2 songs and had to pivot to preforming in the dark while people in the audience brought out their phones to see. There was zero communication from the staff about what was going on or if patrons were going to receive partial refunds due to the outage and not being able to see the last half of the show. During the outage while the performer was still trying to at least talk to the audience and make the most of the outage, the Phoenix staff could be loudly heard chatting and laughing amongst themselves at the back drowning out the performer. People in the audience had to shush them multiple times to get them to stop.it was so incredibly disrespectful during an already unfortunate situation.

I'll definitely be thinking twice about going to see an act at the Phoenix in the future. They seem incredibly disorganized, disrespectful staff, and are clearly having ongoing electrical issues they have yet to be solved with multiple power outages.

When it's rammed (and it usually is when I go), it's a bit of a zoo to get to a bar or bathroom. I guess I'm just old now.

I went to the Phoenix to see a couple different metal concerts so far. The security is friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are easy to find. The lady's is in the back of the building, down some stairs and to the left. The men's is located in the middle of the right wall when facing the the stage. There's also mini bars in the most convenient of places. The bars also have water not just alcohol. There's a smokers section outside in a fenced in area, but you can't bring your drink with you while you smoke. It does get very hot inside so dress light or have layers you can take off. Will be visiting again when there's another concert there. Stay safe and have fun.

Great place to see concerts. Such an odd location, plunked in the middle of a residential strip, but easily accessible from the many methods of transportation. Great smoking section. The two ladies who frisk people on the way in are pleasant enough about it. I've seen so many great bands here. Bad religion, suicidal tendencies, propaghandi, Frank Turner, Shakey Graves, social d, the list goes on.

Phoenix Concert Theatre is a fabulous venue for music. Acoustics, and sound is pretty good. I was there to watch the performance of The Crystal Method, which was very good. A place to check out music acts if your in the city of Toronto, Canada.

Fist time to the Phoenix to see last performance of Goddo.
Awesome bar!
Friendly staff and people!
Pulled pork tacos, wow!
Wish they had been bigger.

Very unimpressed with the security/bouncer they have haired. Bought tickets months ago for a concert and the bouncer would not let me and my friend in the door claiming I was "too drunk". Funny because I didn't have anything to drink. Told me to come back in an hour and later, laughed at us calling us "the two drunk girls" and saying "Oh these two again". He refused to let us in, my tickets weren't used and I got no money back but harassed by a bouncer. Truly horrible treatment.

I've gone here for two concert's now (Alina Baraz and Tory Lanez). The security here is so nice! They are very friendly but still do their job thoroughly, they genuinely care for everyone's safety at the event. Both times as I was leaving to go home, I was told to get home safely and that's the nicest thing ever. Great experiences both times.

Went to the Sloan concert last night. I know it was a sold out show but im pretty sure they sold too many tickets. It was so packed, I was constantly being pushed and shoved by people because we were packed in like sardines. It made the experience terrible because instead of watching the show I was having to drop my shoulder or elbow into drunk men who were pushing their way through the crowd.

Don't know why this place has bad reviews. Saw the Coronas tonight (sweet Irish band). Great staff, atmosphere, good safety, clean toilets etc. Only negative is the price of Alcohol but hay it's Toronto. Government Monopoly lol

Was here for Alina Baraz and the concert was great. The venue itself is intimate, but can definitely use some TLC.
Had seats up on the balcony, and we were lucky enough to snag a front row seat. However, people who came later had to sit pretty far back, and must’ve had an awful view.
Make sure to come early if you get balcony seats.

Great show (Owl City), but they only had one person checking bags, and 4 people giving out 19+ wristbands which was a bit overkill. Maybe 2 and 2 would have been better? The line to get in took a while because of this.
Good sound, and they had water easily available for people to grab and drink which was super good.
18 November 2018 7:13
Went there for a concert and it was horrible. The sound was awful. The sound person either had no idea what they were doing or the equipment was not good. Also waited in a line for an hour over the time the doors were supposed to open. The guy outside was anything but polite, telling us if we didn't squish together more he wouldn't let us in. I was basically hugging my neighbour but that wasn't good enough.
Will never go back.

Very well air-conditioned venue. At least for the concert I attended, the visual effects were charming and synchronized. The line extends to the sidewalk if the crowd is large enough, but that is to be expected. Friendly staff and security. In summation, a nice mid-size theater.
28 October 2018 10:55
The best concert venue I've been to in Toronto. Large enough to attract big names but small enough to remain intimate. Parking right across the street is a huge bonus, as well.

Nice venue, great bands. I really like how they have the burrito bar, and that they leave out water jugs and cups on the sides of their bar. The security is super tight, they'll open every single pocket and your makeup bag (so don't try to sneak anything!). They also woildnt let me bring in my S'well water bottle, even though it was empty. I haven't had that issue at other venues. Their reasoning was that I could sneak alcoholic drinks to minors or throw my bottle as a projectile, which are valid arguments but if people really want to do that, they'll easily find a way.

Great venue! Great sound. I think the lighting technician fell asleep on the have machine button.too much. Can barely see acts on stage. Security is tight, but very respectful and funny!
11 October 2018 9:01
This venue is fantastic. I have been here twice and I can't say enough good things about the staff here. I'm currently in an aircast and the staff went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortably seated.
05 October 2018 5:58
On the positive: Cozy place for an intimate show, acoustics and lights were great. Not so positive: The "VIP" section is in the second floor, as far as possible from the stage, where you can hardly take a pic.
Finding the ladies' room was a challenge, as it is in the basement, having to go to double stairs to get there. The doors don't lock (another challenge when using the bathroom).
And fish tacos and burritos are not particularly great for a theatre; I'm not asking for a buffet menu, but I could suggest doing some research about the artist and or type of show and sell some food accordingly. That would be a hit!

Still the best venue in the East Side. While it lacks the inclined floors of the Danforth Music Hall, or the decor of the Opera House, it makes up for both in sound quality, capacity, drink prices. Lounge areas at the back and in the balcony. Great door and friendly bar staff. Wish they'd bring in more shows!
15 September 2018 15:43
I like this place better than the opera house.but not as much as Danforth music hall.when this place is packed it sucks moving in and out.but it is what it is.great sound and sound techs

Extremely impressed. Security was very accommodating for my wife with physical issues and very friendly. This was our first visit, we will definitely keep an eye out for future concerts at this venue!

This place really shouldn’t hold 1000+ people but somehow it does. Not the worst concert venue but definitely my least favourite in Toronto. There is just simply not enough space to hold that many people, if it’s a sold out show, good luck getting out of there! Everyone is shoulder-to-shoulder at that point.

My only real annoyance is the capacity. Otherwise it’s really just your average divey concert venue.

Like the opera house but more degenerate.

Love this venue. But worth the extra for VIP balcony. It has its own bar up there and you can sit. If you don't want to sit and Todd rather be part of the action, you are welcome to go down to the floor and join in! Only drawback is the bathrooms. They are all the way in the basement and are in desperate need of updating/deep cleansing. As for the sound, great acoustics! Good night out.

The place is well known in Toronto. When I was there the place was packed. I attended Bajaga's concert.
Standing theatre.
Don't try to bring any drugs in: security guards will probably find them. A young woman just ahead of me in the line had a bag of weed on her. The bag was taken away from her but she was told they would give it back to her after the concert (weed has been decriminalized in Canada).
