Pillar and Post Inn & Spa

For a "luxury" hotel, the rooms leave much to be desired.
1. Tiny bathroom with poor lighting
2. Bathroom mirror is threadbare
3. Furniture a bit scratched
4. Lighting is poor giving the room a gloomy feeling
5. Wall mounted air/heat unit outdated with poor controls
6. Furniture drawer askew and broken

Many of these items are natural in a "normal" hotel. This is supposedly a luxury high end hotel and in that price range.

This room is a level above a basic room

Vintage Hotel, vintage furniture at a hefty price for accommodations and dining.
A little bothersome to see almost all the guests walking in bathrobes.
Spa services are great, pool areas and hot spring are quite busy; make a reservation for access to the hot spring/ hot tub area otherwise the facility can be too crowded; the heated outdoor pool is very busy and quite noisy including in December.
Parking can be challenging at times due to insufficient lots for the amount of visitors catering for.
Inside gardens are beautifully maintained in the warm seasons with basic attendance in the winter months.

I wasn’t going to post a review but at this point I feel it’s necessary. I tried contacting and leaving a voicemail for both the general manager on Tuesday and billing depart. I have yet to hear back from anyone. I have also called without leaving a voicemail and no one seems to pick up. On Sunday, my boyfriend and I decided to stay with Pillar and Post for our anniversary and mini baby moon before the baby comes and let’s just say it’s not anything we expected. In our room, the sheets had old stains on them and the bathroom had orange build up around many parts of the tub. We decided to look past that because we really wanted to enjoy our time. However, we booked massages the next day and during our massages, they were drilling what sounded like above our heads. Construction was going on and the massages were anything but relaxing. We both just wanted to walk out. They did end up comping our massages and the spa staff were amazing but how did you not notify guests of the construction that would be taken place right above them. We ended up checking out on the Monday and to find out both my boyfriend and I’s cards have been charged for the stay at different amounts. The experience, well lack their of was completely unacceptable specially for what you are paying to stay there.

Pillar and Post is a great spot. The Spa is as good as one would expect; beautiful. The pools are lovely, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, it's just a great experience, especially to share with a partner.

The hotel lounge is warm and welcoming and has a great selection of cocktails. The food in the lounge isn't the greatest, though I've only had a few appetizers, it left me fairly disappointed.

Overall a great experience, I just wish the menu in the lounge was paid a little more attention.

I really was not sure if I should share my experience or just let it be. But after thinking on it I felt the need to share for any solo travelers looking for a diverse atmosphere. For me this was not the case. I decided to go to pillar and post to get spa service done as a birthday gift (8/14/2023) to myself called Peachy Keen body wrap. Upon walking in the inn a front desk clerk told me how to get to the spa she was polite. But as I walked through I can easily see there was no diversity. But then I figured I've been to non diverse places before and was comfortable so I should be fine. Well I get to the spa front desk. There were three young ladies at the desk. Two I could see one I could only see her arm. The two were talking so I figured I'd wait til they finished talking so one could help me. Well that didn't happen. I stood there the one went back towards the spa area the other one looked through me.making it her business not to make eye contact with me. So I'm looking behind me like okay I know she sees me. Well to make matters worse a non ethnic older gentleman walks up and she says hello sir how can I help you. I was so taken back like did she completely dismiss me. So instead if making a scene I peaked my head around the corner and asked another lady to help me. She was very nice.she took my info and gave me forms to fill out. I go back up to the desk and she says hmm interesting you were already checked in. So she lets me know where to go change.again I'm looking at this lady who acted as if I was invisible and still she refused to make eye contact. I chucked it up as ignorance and went to enjoy my service. Which was absolutely amazing. The young lady in the dressing room who was restocking towels was probably the most pleasant person I encountered there. I left feeling relaxed but I have to say I probably would never go there again. Though the grounds across the street was absolutely beautiful and that alone but not enough to make me feel like I was welcome at there facility.

We stopped in for lunch at 1: 30 in the afternoon during the week. They had no message on their website that they close for the afternoon. After standing and waiting at the entrance of the dining room for 5 minutes we were ignored by staff running around tending to the few tables of people. No signage, not told they were closed.would not try again.

We decided to book Pillar and Post as a last minute getaway here in Ontario. The pools were nice, the amenities were lovey and gardens were beautiful. We did have some issues with our room and check-in during our stay but the hotel management tried to fix them after prompting. All in all, not a bad place but certainly room for improvement. We were looking for the “spa experience” and left feeling a little more “hotel experience”.

Lovely lovely place. But was kinda of stunned when I saw the tampons in the men bathroom.yeh will take me a few to get use to that.

Your customer service reps needs more training and need to work on being friendly over the phone. We have been trying to book a room for over a month and we have gotten nothing but attitude over the phone and a run around. I’m so disappointed. I’m even more disappointed that I had my wedding and honey moon there and this is the kind of service we get. I can’t even get a hold of a manager, what a joke. Do better pillar and post!

Been coming to Pillar and Post for many years. Always a nice quick little escape. The rooms are usually excellent, but The Cannery restaurant is always the highlight.always top notch for either dinner or breakfast. The pub-style spot inside too is great. The hot spring is a must do.

Like many others here rooms are dated and need fancying up a bit for the rates they are charging…. Hotel is pleasant enough and hot springs is a cute feature (but very small). Flaps that lead to the outdoor section have mold growing on them. The restaurant offers good food but their maî·tre d'hô·tel at the restaurant entrance is painfully slow…even at breakfast there is a line to get seated merely because the person is very inefficient and why is it necessary to have people lining up to give their room number? Why not just do it at the table and let people sit where they want…it’s a buffet anyway (?) …dinner is nice but very over-priced…staff are pleasant once seated but someone needs to change the entry procedure. Rooms on the main floor with the bay windows are very noisy and staff wheeling trolleys past the windows with a very loud squeaky wheel at 6: 30am would not take much to fix if only staff thought more about what their effect on people sleeping would be…and finally there seems to be an air of “wedding factory” about the place which seems to have made the staff at the bar and restaurant a bit cold and disengaged. (Maybe they’ve seen and put up with too much) ? 3 stars for a 5 star hotel isn’t great…$950 for two nights b&b only…hmmm…there are too many other places that offer more for less…. They unfortunately don’t seem to care as they get too much from their wedding stuff….

For a room which was $450 a night it was most ordinary room ever. Air conditioner made loud sound, I was unable to sleep.
Needed check out extended by 1/2an hour and were refused.

I've stayed here a few years ago but this garden is new so while in the town we took a quick stop and smelled the roses.literally. There's an area set up for weddings that is surrounded by rose bushes.lovely.

Just returned with my wife celebrating her birthday. It's was our third time visiting. Mandi a Manger is exceptional! She made are stay so enjoyable and that's why we continue to come back. We both love the indoor and outdoor pool. Along with the hot springs.
The Cannery restaurant added some more items to the menu. I tried the peppercorn steak. It was delicious. Are server Melanie was amazing! She always makes great suggestions and is very accomadating. We also had a couples massage at the beautiful fountain spa. Out RMT'S Erin and Kalvin were terrific.
Gorgeous grounds. A close walk to the strip. Shuttle service. So many winery's in the area.

In my opinion, this is one of the best hotels at Niagara on the Lake. The fact that Queen Elizabeth II stayed here in 1973 is really cool. The room she stayed in is marked with a sign. This hotel has a buffet, pool/hot spring, and a spa with skin, hair, and nail treatments. I'm pretty sure there's also an outdoor pool but I stayed here during the winter so I don't know. The vintage style of Pillar and Post brings a warm, cozy vibe, that goes along with the big cozy queen size beds. The room I stayed in had 2 Queen size beds, a TV, and a safe I'm pretty sure. I recommend this hotel for everybody because there's always something to do no matter what!

Overall its a nice place, but had some disturbing issues the last time we stayed.
We have been here many many times over the years and feel maybe will be giving other places a try.

Had a wonderful stay here at Pillar and Post. Lounge, restaurant, indoor and outdoor pools, hot springs, Spa, we did it all.

The best hotel in Niagara on the Lake. Our room had questionable patio furniture chairs but everything else was as expected. Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and a beautiful property with picturesque landscape.

Easily a 5 star experience! From the check in to the lounge service, dinner and breakfast. The staff here really add to the experience with top notice professionalism and service. Everyone was so helpful and nice. The food was excellent, the service even better.

We went for a wedding and you truly have an experience. Reception staff are welcoming, professional and want to attend to your every need. Rooms are spacious & great beds! Wedding venue is fantastic! The pool, even tho it was chilly outside, is heated with a gorgeous fire place. Wanted to "take" a robe home, but, I'm honest! You will love it!

The front desk addressed our concerns with care and professionalism, which we appreciated. The last call for food and drinks was a bit too early, but the place was charming with a lot of interesting history (incl.a visit from the Queen). I'd recommend it if you're looking for a quiet comfortable stay.

An incredible venue for our wedding. The staff were all lovely and catered to our every need.

This is a beautiful spa. They have many treatments, an elegant decor, surrounded by vineyards.

The only reason they don't get 5 stars is their bathrooms are quite dated with narrow tubs and no ventilation.

Also the foods - although so rich and lavish; they are heavy meals relying too heavily on butters, sugars, and salts that made me feel ill. I would expect that for take away foods, not for individual dinner dishes that are $50+

Great spa, food and beds. Rooms are in need of an update, especially in the bathroom. It’s old and the fixtures and tap are old 90s. Get rid of tubs and put in easy access modern shower. The rooms are not $600 per night quality compared to other current high end hotels in the region. Despite historical and proximity in NOTL, rooms need an update. So does the pub and hallways. You can have historic colonial design without looking old and worn. Like the spa floor, where modern historical design has been an achieved. Lovely updated decor in the spa that blends in with the hotels historical design. Also the property should be completely non smoking ron premises. Pool area still had smokers and deterred us from using the pool. Hoping to see those improvements on my next stay.
The staff everywhere was friendly and provided knowledgeable efficient service.

Would absolutely stay here again. The hotel is beautiful. Old, (but of course that is part of the charm) but beautiful. Great, friendly, helpful staff. Great food/wine/ cocktails. The “garden” area across the street is an incredible feature to this property. Massive garden area with green space, bar, many seating areas- and even summer games like cornhole. If we’re able to come back, we’d love to spend more time hanging out in the garden area.

A one night getaway with cousins. Hadn't been back here in SOOO long & i fell in love with the charm all over again.

The heated outdoor pool was 93 degrees. The hot springs were sooooo nice! Best part, honestly. There is a 20 min limit in the springs, and you do have to book your time in advance. It was pretty quiet when we were there, but at peak hours. I certainly appreciate the effort to control crowds.
We hung around the lounge after the hot springs. Very serene, quiet, calm ambiance. The complimentary refreshments - tea, coffee, hot water etc. - was a really nice touch.

Today we had a couple very relaxing massages and then enjoyed the outdoor hot tub spa area. It was splendid.
