Oh Calie: I see you have moved. Over the past ten years or so I have purchased two outboards from you. Amazing and knowledgeable service. I am a committed customer. And I love the factual and direct way you respond to the few disgruntled customers that probably complain about every challenge that life presents to them.

Have been leaving my fishing boat in the care of this fine establishment. From winterizing to spring time prep and winter storage Pisces Marina is the best place to take your floating baby to. They are willing to go above and beyond for your satisfaction.

I bought a Tohatsu outboard from another dealer. It didn't work correctly and the other dealer was unable (or unwilling) to fix it, so I took it to Pisces Marine for service. Calie knew immediately what the problem was when I described the symptoms, and after her recommended repair the motor now runs flawlessly. I'm very pleased with the work Pisces Marine has done for me.

I know I know. "You're not in our system". But I did buy a 30 HP Tohatsu/Nissan/Mercury outboard from Pisces. Overall the price was right and the sale went well. I couldn't understand why they were the cheapest compared to other brands. I found out quickly.

A number of years later the motor failed on the lake. UN-luckily the motor was still under warranty. By unlucky I mean the dealer gets next to nothing in compensation for warranty work, so I suspected the dealer wouldn't find anything wrong with the motor. I was right. I was told there was nothing wrong with the motor and was dinged $120 for 'diagnostics'. As a result and a round trip of more than two hours, the motor failed to start. Clearly incompetent service personnel or it's the, " don't fix it under warranty and keep 'em coming back and charging them for 'diagnostics'. I tend to believe the latter as there is a pattern (other reviews) with this business and working on motors under warranty.

Here's a good reason to stay away from ANY Mercury, or in the under 30hp category, Nissan/Tohatsu.

Diagnosed and fixed the motor myself. I also had the service manual and 30+ years in the automotive industry. Turned out to be a high pressure fuel pump. Tohatsu's price approx $500. USD.eBay $30. USD.eBay pump worked fine. Seems to be a common failure since hundreds were sold. Last year another motor failure. Dropped another high pressure fuel pump in. Didn't work. Diagnosed it to a faulty ECU (computer for EFI engine management) No aftermarket part and it can't be repaired since it's 'potted'. New Tohastu branded ECU $1,230. USD! Mercury part $850. USD is identical but they wont ship to Canada. With the exchange I was dinged $1,800. CDN. Motor ran fine after and was quickly sold. I bought a new Yamaha F25C. Parts for Yamaha were a lot more reasonable.if it fails any time soon which I doubt.

I can see why Feces Marine sells Merc/ Tohatsu, HUGE profit margin on parts and high probability of motor failure due to poor engineering and low 'accelerated life testing' design. Keep the dealer network happy I guess.
