Disastrous Visit to PitaPit on 4th January - Unacceptable Lack of Halal Compliance, Non-Delivery, and Denied Refund
My visit to PitaPit at 1975 Kennedy Rd, Scarborough, ON on Thursday, 4th January, was nothing short of a regrettable experience that demands attention.
Upon ordering a shawarma and inquiring about the halal status of the chicken, I was astonished to discover that the restaurant lacked a separate grill for halal items. This blatant non-compliance with halal standards raised serious concerns about the overall food preparation process.
Seeking a resolution, I requested a refund due to the failure to meet halal requirements. Shockingly, my request was met with a flat-out refusal from the staff. To exacerbate the situation, the food was never delivered due to the compliance issue.
In response to this unacceptable situation, I promptly reached out to PitaPit customer care, who advised me to send the receipt for a potential refund. Despite adhering to their instructions, there has been no response from PitaPit customer care as of the date of this review.
Frustrated and determined to find a resolution, I called the store on 8th January to speak directly to the owner. Unfortunately, my efforts were met with extreme rudeness, and the owner intentionally disconnected the call. Subsequent attempts to reconnect were futile, leaving the issue unresolved.
My visit to PitaPit on 4th January was marked by a lack of halal compliance, non-delivery of the ordered food, and shockingly poor customer service. I strongly caution potential patrons, especially those with specific dietary requirements, to steer clear of this restaurant.
Key Points:
Lack of a separate grill for halal preparation observed on 4th January. Refusal to provide a refund despite the non-compliance with halal standards and non-delivery of the food. Unresponsive customer care, leaving the issue unresolved as of the date of this review. Rude behavior and intentional disconnection from the store owner during a direct call on 8th January. I sincerely hope this review serves as a stark warning for others considering PitaPit and prompts the restaurant to urgently address these critical concerns.
Wonderful staff every time I come here! Always generous with portions and always having an upbeat personality. I wish I could give a tip on the debit machine. If this was possible, this would be very wonderful.
Today I walked in this restaurant And I won’t do it again ever.
As I walked there was a young couple front of me and I am assuming a mother in law with them.they ordered, and stepped aside. Then I ordered and sat down.
Then the assumed mother in law went into the bathroom then the couples started to joke with The shorter female staff member Saying, can you put some tranquilizer in the old ladies wrap?
In my opinion, customers can joke about whatever they want but what turned me off is when the staff member joined this disgusting conversation.
The staff member said yeah I can pour some THC in for you to make her quiet ha ha ha. The staff member (shorter female) also mentioned that she has a baby and she feels the same way sometimes. Basically (Drugging her baby)
This kind of jokes like: food poisoning and morbid jokes doesn’t belong in a restaurant specially if someone walks in for the first time just like I am.
And then I canceled my order got my money back and left.
Who knows if pita pit is actually drugging people or not? Not gonna risk it thanks Disgusting people
I was at this Pita Pit location yesterday for a quick bite on my commute! The girl working in the store was absolutely incredible! Very inviting, very helpful and definitely made my experience memorable! The wrap was delicious as well! I’m rarely in that area, but I would definitely visit again if I was around those ends!
Had a great experience at this location. This was our first time at Pita Pit and we were greeted by a wonderful person named Paige. Impeccable service. She went above and beyond in ensuring that my fiancée and I knew every detail about what we were ordering. She even went to the nutritional health guidelines on some of the ingredients to see if they were safe for pregnancy. Thank you Paige for the amazing food and the terrific customer service experience.
A+ for Pita Pit. A+ for the employees. A+ for Paige
Pita Pit is so underrated and this location is great! The food is delicious and fresh, the employees are friendly and kind. All around amazing! Love the chicken pita with tzatziki!
I always find the food fresh and tasty. Just feel like it's a horrible value, only 2-3 pieces of meat that they cut up into smaller peices. For 11$ your better off getting something else way more filling.
Oddly enough they always say ‘cash only’ when going to order. No signage posted about debit machines down. This is the fourth time this has happened to me. Suspicious…
Plenty of parking The young lady who served me was very pleasant and helpful Gave me a choice of veggies I preferred and veggie roll was delisous The sitting area was clean
What a great experience! The two young girls working were able to make the pitas so fast and they tasted great! Always hate how the pita toppings normally fall out and make a mess but they were packed perfectly! Amazing job these girls deserve a raise!
I was excited when I first heard they had gluten free pita bread but I have never in my life tasted such a tasteless pita meal. It's not even bad it's worse its just tasteless, they manage to make even the cucumbers taste empty and soulless. What a waste of ingredients. Also I asked for tzaziki and they gave me enough tzaziki to make the pita bread wet? What on earth is up with that, it didn't even make the meal less dry it just gave the whole thing an unpleasant after taste. Didn't see any white on that meal and I dont see any hope for this restaurant. Save your excitement for some other place.
As someone who came from a rural town, this place reminds me of home.family owned, with a love for quality food and good service! ended up taking a chance on something new on the menu, after the owners were amazing enough to answer all my questions about the ingredients.genuinely amazing place to stop by for a quick bite! I look forward to the next time I can support this business
This place is never open, always changing their hours. Only carries a partial menu. What’s the point; CLOSE YOUR BUSINESS. Let someone that actually wants to run a business put their store here. Your business is a WASTE OF LAND.
I had to shout on top of my voice to make the server hear me. They had such a long plexiglass with shabby stickers on them. In addition, there were tables in between, how can you possibly hear each other. He kept saying I cant hear you. I understand its for covid precaution but better management is needed. Taste was highly okay and they dint have hummus during lunch hours!
Best people and best service teja i have seen that guy here very responsive hope this owner made great choice by choosing hardworking employees good work teja and all the best owner
Rich bowls! So so good. Customer service was on point and the store was clean, all the vegetables were fresh.on point guys, thanks for a delicious dinner
Been here recently and they have definitely cut back on the chicken portion size and the amount of toppings they put in your pita. Friendly staff and good service, just don't be so stingy.
The staff there in the cash was really slow I was waiting for over 10 mins before I could order and there was only one person ahead of me, I had to call someone from the back to help make my food so I know I just hav to pay and not have to wait for the food to be made which would have been another 5-8mins but overall my experience was okay.
The prices of the food not mentioned at any place including your flyer. In this case, huge difference between you and other restaurants like the McDonald and the Tim Hortons.
EDITED: I'm unsure of what exactly has unfortunately occurred but I rly wish PP would get a better handle on the online ordering. There is usually two staff working, maybe one handle strictly online orders and the other walk-ins? I've noticed the high turnover in staff recently and it appears they simply cannot handle the volume of orders? It's also incredibly infuriating that the online ordering is offline 8/10 times I attempt to do so (it is offline right now again) which is odd, you would think would do the absolute best to keep the revenue coming in during Covid. Three of my last orders have taken over an hour and get delayed via the app by the staff in-store, when I called and inquired about a second opted delay they claim they're busy? It's hard to comprehend as a customer when hundreds of other businesses can manage to bang out the order and select it ready for delivery within the first 15 and I'm frankly usually not too far from the restaurant. Better training, better efficiency and simple common sense need to be address here, it's becoming quite unfortunate for me to take my business elsewhere and I love PP.
This is the spot to be for fresh healthy options in the neighbourhood, the points system with the 'More! ' membership is legitimate and it's open late!
Every time I come here it’s usually Tyler? (I believe his name is) working. Honestly his personality makes me enjoy coming here.the foods always fresh and they’re never stingy with toppings!
Absolutely phenomenal. Minus the fact that they are open late, any time I walk in there regardless of who's behind the counter - they consistently deliver great service. I get greeted and asked follow up questions to ensure I leave completely satisfied.
I absolutely love the chicken souvlaki pita. The owners are so sweet and staff have always been very friendly. As a member of my daughters parent council I have us signed up for school fundraisers lunches with the pita pit. The students absolutely look forward to it.
Our last experience was a little disappointing when we paid for double meat and got more veggies then meat! That's wrong prices are high enough it shouldn't be like that. Not very happy.
Location is conveniently accessible from Kennedy. Staff was friendly and restaurant was clean.
I was disappointed in the value for money conversation. I was shocked to hear that the large buffalo chicken pita contains only 3 ounces of chicken. At the price point 6-8 would be far more reasonable.
Trust this chubby lady when I say Pita pit is always a go-to for fresh tasty wraps and their salads are lit! The secret ingredient might be their cheerful staff, but what do I know.
With a diverse menu and it seems to be expanding, you'll have a tough time choosing between your old favourites and attempting to try something new. Pitas are always loaded to you'll never feel as if you've been cheated out of a decent meal. The cookies aren't as great but you're not really going here for those.
I do not recommend this place worst place to eat I know they will not least long is very expensive is not worth it to spend a cent there.
Worst place ever.
I ask for a small chicken bowl, it was very surprising for me that my portion of chicken was about a table spoon from home.
Ask to the maneger, she said it is the portion, I request them.to weight it for me and they refused.
As you will see in the picture chichen is just two plastic forks (as you know size of a plastic fork is smaller than one you use in your table at home)
I paid $9.37 just for a salad when it suppouse to have chicken.
Very disappointed.
I hope I will heard from you soon, and if that is the size of your chicken I highly suggest you announces it to the costumer so a costumer will know they won't have enough protein out of your food.
I ate from this chain in mississauga and I loved the experience there. Staff there was helpful, engaging and appears to enjoy the art of feeding people. This Kennedy Road location was lacking in several areas. After I ordered a veggie pita I second guessed ordering, however I had food because I was hungry. They "chef" /"sandwich maker" appeared as though he was in training and would rather be elsewhere and the cashier looked like she was doing her best to hold the forth and make "it" happened. I can't say I am inclined to go back to this location.
I have a severe food allergies and the staff ALWAYS take my orders very seriously and prepare with caution. So polite, follow all food service health and safety rules and most of all- DELICIOUS food! Thanks Dave & Lisa!
Very bad food.never tasted a bad shawarma and I went there by night 9.30 I got a real bad one. I got food infection from it. Please take care of this risk. May be by the end of night serving old food. Whoever is the owner, please give heads up to the staff. Do not risk other people's life with your food.
