This was the first time I went to this store, and I absolutely loved it. They have a lot of nice things and great prices. I liked that everything looked organized and that there were fitting rooms. Also, everyone was so friendly and helpful.

Called about selling items in their consignment shop. They offer you one third of 50 percent of an items value. For example a $30 purse will sell for $15 and you get $5. So if you want to receive $5 for a brand new item you're selling that you paid $30 plus tax for this is where to sell it.

It was okay. Plato's used to have new or like new clothes at one time. Now it's a mix of everything like all other thrift stores. You can hunt for great deals but be prepared to hunt through racks of junk and the old moldy smells of used clothing
12 May 2023 13:56
Amazing finds.great prices! Seems busy like they dont accept a lot of clothes to sell anymore, thats ok w me i go to buy! 2 pairs of black leather jeffrey campbell litas spotted here!
12 May 2023 3:26
They have no taste… brand new branded clothing was rejected. Looks like 90% of the items were not even touched. They also tell you a ridiculous amount of time to wait for their message which would never come just to avoid being responsible. I guess they hate to have a reasonable deadline for work. Doesn’t make sense what a waste of time.
04 May 2023 1:28
I had to wait well over an hour to have my cloths sorted.
While shopping I felt like I was at Value Village.
28 April 2023 3:26
EDIT: In reply to your answer: Why should I give you another chance without you attempting to rectify the situation?

Lots of their clothes were stained and ripped. They close at 9pm and my friend and I walked up to the dressing room at 8: 15 and were told they are closed for the night. The store is still open but you can’t try anything on because of “closing duties”. At that point I may as well shop online for cheaper if I’m not going to be given the chance to try on my clothes. Sure seems like the staff were trying to close up earlier than normal and my shopping experience was soured because of it. I’ll stick to other locations.

This is my go-to-place for thrifting. Clothing is treated with care and I always find the best brands ️

Nothing great.was very disappointed with their collection. This is the third time inad been to the place and didn't find anything interesting
13 November 2022 17:25
I’ve found amazing pieces here for reasonable prices (sometimes overpriced) but most of the items are brand new & in mint condition. Nothing is better than finding a good deal instead of having to pay full price at branded stores. Workers are efficient and studious, greatly appreciate their hard work and help when needed! Haven’t sold clothes here yet, so my review is subject to change but overall customer service and clothes have been superb here.

Pretty nice shopping place. They got good stuffs there, especially women stuffs. I went there for working equipments and clothes but I couldn't get it from there. So if you going there to shop work clothes or stuffs like safety shoes, I didn't see them there. Idk if they were just out of stock or the don't sell it at all.
01 November 2022 5:41
Very frustrating experience. Employee spoke to me like I was annoying her by being there.

2 stars instead of 1 because at least one lady seemed nice.

Great store, lots of selection. If you're looking for gently used designer clothing this is the spot.

Cleanest and most organized Plato’s I’ve been to, and I’ve been to most in the GTA. Not bad selection too. Not super busy as well.
18 June 2022 16:35
Went with a bag full of clothes and they only found 2 items to buy at 3$. The items looked good as new. They explained that some of the items were out of style, however some customers might be more into old fashioned clothing. That is what the majority of people look for in a thrift store. Do yourself a favour and ignore this fake thrift store!

If you want to sell clothes and not get back the dollars you deserve then platos is the perfect place. I'm very upset with you guys today because I did not get what you promise to customers, at least 30% of the retail price. From a bag full of half-labeled clothes you guys got only a few that I'm okay with because those things are more in demand. But to keep items, the value of which is almost $300 together and give me $23 for all even though they were labeled with the price tag ($258 labeled jeans) is unacceptable and ridiculous. I do not know who sets the price for these clothes but this is not fair. As long as you say that we will give you 30% of the price you have to be honest. This time the mistake was mine because I did not see what clothes you got from the bag, because otherwise I would not sell it to you for such a cheap price. The first and last time I sell clothes to you guys. It's a good place to buy clothes, but not to sell. The sellers are polite but the prices they put on my clothes do not satisfy me, I expect more because you promise more. And do not tell me that I agreed with the price because in this case I was guilty of not seeing the clothes before and I trusted you when you say we give 30% of the retail price. Is not if I’m okay or not with that price, but 30% is 30% even if i don’t agree. As long as you say 30% you have to give me as much as the 30% of the price is, not as much as you want or think. I did not want to do this review with a star but the dishonesty in setting the price for my clothes pushed me to do this.

I would recommend making plans for errands in the area if you want to try selling here. I went and was told the wait would be over 2 hours, and it was about 2.5. Waited in the parking lot since I had nothing else to do and found out I was being offered $10.20 total for 3-4 items haha. Felt like a pretty big waste of time.

I did spend about 10 minutes looking around as well and was surprised at the selection. It’s definitely catered towards teens. I found one Nike sweatshirt I liked but then noticed it had stains down the front, which was weird because some of my items were rejected for ‘discolouration’ but were in much better condition. A lot of items also had a lot of pilling. My takeaway was that they would rather accept a well known brand even if the quality is off, over a brand like Old Navy even if the clothes are brand new. I brought in brand new floral dresses from Old Navy and dynamite that were turned away, and brand new with tags jeans from H&M. Apparently they were rejected for being over a year old and for being ‘skinny jeans’. The website didn’t mention anything about not taking skinny jeans so I guess I am just old and these aren’t in style anymore: D

I think it doesn’t hurt to pop in and try and make a few bucks, but just set your expectations and have something to do for a couple hours. Last time I went to Plato’s it was in the junction and I made almost $80 and in less than 30 mins. So perhaps I just came on an off day to this one!

A STORE THAT TAKES CUSTOMERS LEFTOVERS AND SELLS TO MAKE PROFIT…

I was very upset with my experience selling clothes here for a range of reasons, well first off I looked around at the prices and they’re ridiculous like who makes these prices because for some cheap brands like forever 21, shein, etc.they mark it at the same price or more than purchased brand new in the store. Also, when I dropped off my clothes I had been told it will only take 45 mins to be completed I even asked if it will take any longer than that and they said it will not. Came back 2 hours later and they were not even done and the worst part is the workers were just fooling around not doing their dam job, gossiping and giggling…like how professional! It’s a bunch of young kids so I’m not even surprised by the professionalism… The main issue here is they only give a tiny amount for the clothes you sell like not even half of what they sell on the floor which is ridiculous! I was offered $2.8 for a brand new item and what they sell on the floor is $15+ so what’s the logic behind that?

MORAL OF THE STORY they are basically robbing you for clothes giving little to none back. Either fix your policies and give half of what you sell on the floor not a tiny penny.

Would not recommend at all to sell, had a box full of items bought within a year from popular brands and returned them all saying they were outdated. Meanwhile what they're selling on the racks is damaged, overworn from over 3 years ago. Looking through the box, it was as if they only looked at the top and didn't bother with the rest. This is the second time this has happened. Huge waste of time especially since I don't live in the area.
01 May 2022 2:10
You make a small amount of money selling things but it's better than nothing. Plus I LOVE shopping here. Great discounts
02 April 2022 1:26
I found i had way newer and better clothes then what I saw on the racks. Very disappointed that all my clothes and shoes were returned to me. Will not recommend this place to other people.
06 December 2021 6:21
Definitely not a good range of selection. And lots of items in the women's section seems visibly worn out. I recommend the thrift stores on warden and eglinton for better finds
14 October 2021 9:45
This plato checked every piece I sent, not like some other platos. Truly respectful and worthy place.
02 September 2021 15:14
Absolute rip off, I gave close to new items and they didn’t except it but the 3 items they did accept which I originally bought for $15 or more they gave me 7$ for. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION
08 August 2021 10:57
I tried to give them a chance three times but each they lowballed and the last time they made me wait 2+ hours because their system didn’t work and instead I had to go in and ask. Waste of time and energy.

First time going here - what a great impression. The staff are all so lovely and friendly, the clothes are neatly organized (and easy to find by colour), the fitting rooms are open (yay, since most stores are not opening them due to COVID), and the selection here is incredible. Took home a closet full of clothes today! Thank you to the girls that cashed me out - they were incredibly wonderful, patient, calm, and friendly. Thanks again xxx
15 January 2021 19:32
Nice experience. I brought a few containers of clothes over. The sales associates were very friendly. I think that they were fair in their choices. There was a little hiccup - an item or two were forgotten in the payout, this was brought to my attention by a sales associate following my departure which was nice (I hadn't even noticed!). The managers were very friendly and accommodating in resolving the issue. You really can't ask for more!:)
15 January 2021 7:15
Was greeted very well from the moment I entered the store! Great customer service from all sales associates as well. Would come back 100%!

Updating my previous 4 star review:
I am a frequent shopper but when it comes to selling items, BE AWARE.
I am disappointed in their integrity.
When I picked up my items, they said they'd pass on all items. I immediately felt my bin was lighter and noticed 2 items were missing.
I described the items and 10 minutes later they found it w/ the excuse "oh it probably got mixed up but we wanted to make an offer"

Always check your items! It might have been a mistake but I've heard many other customers say the exact same thing about missing items.
Why steal if you pay almost nothing for them?
11 January 2021 19:40
What a lovely store! Probably one of the best experiences I've had in a retail store in a long time. I've been to many of the other Platos but this location went out of their way to help me. I brought in multiple bins of clothing and the manager Ace went out of her way to help me carry them to my car when they had finished sorting my items. Definitely a great experience and would recommend selling your things there.

I've been shopping here for years and each visit never disappoints! I always find fashionable items for GREAT prices and the staff are always super friendly
28 December 2020 3:17
I shop here weekly! Probably my favourite store to thrift at and I think it's super cute you get points if you don't take a plastic shopping bag#savetheplanet lol
25 December 2020 9:21
Staff at the counter are not friendly at all. Talks to customers without having eye contact. Also, theyre too busy sorting products which creates a very cluttered facade. There were at least 5 staff at the counter doing each their own. There's a line up FIY. Needs training to do better in customer service.
19 December 2020 17:55
Sensational! I was finally able to get rid of clothes that have been taking up closet space. Got some quick cash in return as well!
08 December 2020 18:22
Nothing but good things to stay about the store! Staff are super friendly, helpful and i always find something i have to buy! Definitely my favourite thrift store

I’ve always loved shopping at Platos Closet Scarborough! I feel so welcomed by all the employees here! They are all so friendly and nice! I had tons of clothes with me and the lady in the back got a basket for me which was very thoughtful! All the clothes are
always organized and they always put out new things on the floor. I found great quality lulus and aritzia clothes for amazing prices! So proud of you guys! Keep it up!
10 December 2019 15:44
30 percent is a lot and would have appreciated if the employee's texted after they sorted the clothes. I was told it would take 30-40 mins and waited in the store over an hour. I had to go to the counter to ask if they were done. Wondering if I didn't ask would I had to wait longer? Disappointing on that part.
25 November 2019 16:47
Horrible Experience Selling here. The red headed manager barely took any of my brand name items in good condition and said she wouldn’t be able to sell it which was nonsense. I left to go put all my stuff in the donation box nearby. I should have gone to value village. Plus, I sat in the store wasting time on my phone for at least 45 minutes unnecessarily because the manager decided not to come grab me. Absolutely inconsiderate with no common sense on her part. I don’t recommend dealing with her! She gave another guy trying to sell a hard time too and he was innocent.
23 November 2019 12:01
It’s a lot better to shop than to sell here. You can find clothes for cheap and affordable prices, but when you sell your items, you won’t get back a lot of money. I dropped off two bags of unwanted clothing, but Plato’s passed on everything. I was very disappointed with the outcome. Other than that, I enjoy shopping here from time to time as the staff are very friendly.
19 November 2019 10:52
Slow when processing clothes to sell, sometimes it takes over 2 hours. Clothing selection depending on what they have is alright. Some good prices for items.
15 November 2019 12:16
The store is nice, while looking around I saw cute items/reasonable prices, however the buying experience is much better than the selling experience!

I brought in items that were all current and name brand (Calvin Klein, Guess, ASOS, Steve Madden etc.). ALL items were worn once or never at all, some with tags on.

They only chose 4 items. I waited over 3 hours for them to sort. Initially told 1 hour wait. They gave the reason that “some items were overly worn”. But after seeing other reviews with similar experiences, it eases my mind. Do they not look through it? I would appreciate it if they said “not the style they are looking for” but to say overly worn on brand new items boggles my mind!

Unusual experience. Sold them a j crew jacket, Aritzia sweater, Frank and oak sweater, club Monaco sweater (retailed around 100 bucks each), raptors hat, vans hat, j crew belt and another belt, komono sunglasses and an hbc scarf. I got less than 40 dollars for 10 items. I took the money but later realized they should have paid more so I spoke to the mgr on the phone. She said my stuff was great and offered to let me get my stuff back but the computer does the pricing and that is how much I get. She said the computer uses American pricing to determine the prices so that may have been a factor. She recommended I sell stuff online instead. Just really surprised because they say they sell stuff for 50-70% retail and pay 30% of that. $3.90 an item average for the quality of stuff I brought makes no sense. Their computer does unusual math.
08 September 2019 18:21
We took three full luggage's full of very chic clothes, they made us wait 4 hours and every time we would go check to see if they were finished they weren't even opened. After 4 hours they only picked 3 items and all of which were great pieces and they only offered 10 dollars for all of them even though 1 was a formal dress that was only used once.
20 August 2019 4:04
My experience from a first time shopper was not the best in terms of variety and options.
As with most thrift stores, there are days it will be hit and miss.
Still, first impressions are lasting and I haven't been back yet.
