Port Union Community Recreation Centre

Need update. Lots of kids in the area they don’t have any drop in program yet. All programs for over 60 yr?

Good community center. Has a skate park, tennis courts, basketball courts, rollerskating/rollerblading rink and playground. It has an exercise gym and a library in it and a gym room. The exercise gym has a sauna and showers.

First time visitor, came for a Jazz concert, great experience! The community centre is doing a good job

Rating is based on just the gym alone. Overpriced and under-equipped. They charge like $45/month and only have 1 squat rack. They have 3 barbells but one of them is too thick to do deadlifts with (can't hook grip). Plus you'll have to deal with miserable old women that like to bully the younger guys trying to improve themselves. They're old Karens with nothing better to do than complain and harass kids for no reason. Notice they only go after the young skinnier kids but won't say anything to the big guys that lift heavy. If you're serious about lifting then I'd suggest finding another gym. Only good thing is that it isn't as packed as the big chain gyms, but of course it's not nearly as well equipped or big either.

I've been using the fitness centre for a little over 3 years now. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and lots of varying equipment you can use from cardio to weights. Can't really compare to other facilities however. Also not really crowded so no wait times usually to use equipment. The only minor issue is that repairs to equipment or locker/shower facilities are not exactly speedy. But overall, very worthwhile.
Have to add an unfortunate postscript. Recently (Jan 2020) a new member joined who shouts out loud and swears and acts irrationally. Even though there is a 'code of conduct' that members are to follow, it appears it isn't enforced. Pity.

Such a warm place. The staff are friendly and the people who use the facilities are also very warm.

My son takes piano lessons there. He loves it. Lots of parking in the area. Staff is really nice. There's also a library there, a basketball court, and a gym with lots of machines. Ne of the staff helped me jump start my car battery when it was dead. They also do a tree lighting ceremony during Christmas time and offer help with tax refund during tax season for free. Lots of the help is available at this place. Really nice neighborhood.

There's a very active seniors community that meets here. The centre has a library, a fitness centre, a gym, a skate park, an outdoor rink and a basketball court.
