I went their when I was 17 and I’m about to be 20 now. I still miss Sunday breakfast there and the community we had. I learned so much at my stay about communicating and thinking about others as a whole. However, I don’t think they were well equipped to handed serious alcohol addiction and I ended up leaving after 2 months to a place that better equipped me. It was also really hard that they made you give up everything at once (no nicotine/very limited at first, no caffeine, and refined sugar was also limited) and as someone who went through serious alcohol addiction every AA meetings I’ve went to have coffee and sweets because it’s what our body is craving. Evin was such a good role model to the community!

Such a horrible rehab. I went here when I was having a hard time with use of Xanax and in and out of juvie. This place did me thing but made me sprial Gregory bullies the kids an it’s doesn’t even give you the chance to change will embarrass you infront of everyone. The only thing this rehab did for me was make me scared to ever wanna get help again

I was sent here when I was 17. I stayed for almost a year and learned so much. The confidence to speak in groups, express my emotions, self care and the list goes on. The staff were incredible and caring. I loved that a lot of the councillors were able to relate to us because they too had overcome their addictions. It isn’t often that addictions councillors can relate in that way. While I’m in my 30’s now and have struggled with my addiction my whole life, portage taught me the tools to overcome it - I’m 10 years sober… I couldn’t have done it with out this place. Thank You

I was here when I was 17. I'm 49 now. Although I never stayed on track through my life I always remembered the lessons I was taught here and my father began to tell me he loved me and still does to this day. I'm many years clean and sober today and I use 12 step groups all over canada to keep my recovery.

I have been with Portage for over two year now. With over 5 years working with youth, this places strives to help those who are really struggling. It is not easy to be a kid, but it is also not easy working with kids who are at the state these young people are when they arrive at Portage. Portage helps youth around Ontario and has done so for the last 36 years. Places like this don't continue to exist if they weren't making a difference. They continue to give back in the community they are located and teach youth how to live happy, healthy and productive lives. Addiction isn't easy to work through but Portage has helped over 4000 families. I am proud to work at Portage.

I recently attended a fundraising event hosted by Portage Elora. It was an eye opener to say the least. The staff and past resident speakers shared incredible stories. It’s so nice to see organizations working for our youth in the community. Keep up the great work Portage.
