This family run business is a great hire.
A 60 year old massive tree fell down during a winter storm in an alley too tight for a truck to go down.
Mike was there within hours of the tree falling and a couple feet of snow on the ground.
He and his crew got rid of the large tree so 8 households who share the drive could get their car in and out in less than 24 hours, allowing us to function normally. He even worked on the Sunday to do this. Since his truck wouldn't fit down the narrow alley his crew removed the tree by hand in a massive amount of snow on the ground.
Mike is a great communicator and tells you everything, why the tree fell, how he will deal with the tree etc.
This was not a great job for any arborist to pick up and Powell tree removal took care of our issue with no problem.
Would highly recommend Powell tree service to anyone with tree issues in the GTA.

We needed a dead tree trunk removed from our yard and at this time of year such work is entirely weather dependent. So while there was some back and forth due to uncertainty with the weather, Mike and his team threaded the eye of the needle with selecting the date!
He kept us informed about the process and his team was professional and easy to work with. They were quick and efficient with their work and respectful of our neighbours' properties - we're talking little Toronto backyards where everything is in close quarters. Debris clean up can be a hard task with snow on the ground but they did a great job with that too.
We had used Powell Tree Services earlier so we didn't bother getting any additional quotes - we were happy with the pricing.

My partner contacted a lot of companies for tree/hedge removal on our property. Out of all of them, Powell Tree Services was the one who responded promptly. They didn’t initially responded to my partner, rather Mike showed up the next day to see what need to be done (this happened because he received our inquiry and we were very close to them). After talking to him, within 20 mins, he gave us the quote. He answered all of our inquiries from email to phone conversations. And boom, service was rendered the following week. And to our surprise, it’s an entire crew who came in to get the job done quickly and properly. Everything we’re communicated to us during the job including problems, etc and how everything was done and solved. They managed to finish the job within the day.

Mike and all of their staff, were all approachable and easy to deal with. I completely agree with all of the positive reviews others provided, they’re really professional.

Lastly, out of all of the quotes we received, theirs was by far the best and fair. We really felt that they’re there not just to do business/generate money for their business, but to help us as well. And that for us was reason enough to trust them to do the job.

Will we recommend their business to others? Certainly! Especially if you want someone who listens to what you wanted done on your property and at the same time know your options on how all concerns will be addressed.

Mike and his crew are highly professional, competent, and communicated easily with my partner and I. His price was more than fair compared to other competitors in our geographic area, and one could just tell that he is a great guy who you would want to work with anyways. He's been at this for a long time and is very knowledgeable.

Either this business, First Class Tire, or the building owner put up a "Trudeau Must Go" sign visible from the 400. I appreciated the earnestness of the Ford signs, but this one was very jarring.

We had a huge limb from a 75 year-old Maple fall across our yard after the wind storm earlier this year that compromised the rest of the tree. Mike showed up quickly, assessed the situation and stayed until after 10pm to ensure that the rest of the tree was cabled and safe. INCREDIBLE service! I would highly recommend Mike to family and friends or anyone looking for a professional tree servicing company. We had a big tree on our front lawn near cables and the roof. Mike and his team took the time to cut it down without touching any of the wires, they cleaned up afterwards and did a wonderful job. One of the large trees in my backyard needed URGENT removal. Mike responded to my call within hours. During his initial visit, although the tree did not show obvious signs of distress Mike recognized the danger and immediately braced it, to make it temporary more secure, without me even committed to give him a job. That is a professional dedication to safety on his behalf for which I am grateful. The following morning his crew arrived and removed the tree. They did the removal in utmost professional manner, safely and quickly. Once the removal is completed they nicely cleaned the backyard. Strongly recommended!

Another company didn't bother to show up for the appointment to give me an estimate, but the gentlemen who came from Powell gave me helpful advice, not only about the tree in question, but also about a tree on my boulevard. After several hours of being worked on, my tree looks great, and I am relieved. Everything was cleaned up nicely. The final judgement: my backyard birds are back and enjoying the tree.

Great from the get go, from estimate to work done to helpful info about tree care going forward. Mike helped us by removing a damaged tree, but we also learned a lot along the way. All these reviews are BS. Powell promised to provide a quote. Never bothered to show up, even after I followed up. Typical or the trades in Toronto, but I unfortunately.
