I haven't played or even touched my videogames in over 6 and a half years so this summer I spent some time cleaning out my basement and looking for some treasure so I have found my old videogames. I was trying to first sell them privately online and I got absolutely no responses at all. I got the idea to look for companies online that do trade-ins and after looking tireless for websites and sending emails Power Up Gaming was that was Canadian that answered me email. I used their trade-in service twice and Dallas answered every single one of my emails the same day (except for the very first that, I got an answer the day after but it is no big deal). He gave my detailed instructions on what to do and how to send in the items. I am blown away by how marvelous the service was and I did honestly believe that it was too good to be true and that most probably it was a scam but indeed it wasn't. I also did research and read other reviews on the company as well before I started the process. Thank you guys for the great service!

I just bought a rare and expensive blast from my past and turns out it's not backwards compatible on the latest gen consoles. I called asking to return it since it's useless to me now and they said "Unfortunately we expect our customers to do the work beforehand and check for backwards compatibility. But we can offer a store credit gift card". I donno about you guys, but if you spent $120+ on something, you expect complete satisfaction.

Have made several orders online and everything I have received has been as described. I have had 1 item damaged through shipping which is currently being investigated but the staff have been very helpful so far.

This was my first order and one of my multiple. The order was fast and the service was awesome. My disks looked brand new and I haven't stopped playing the games since I got them. Well worth the cash for the games I played years ago. 100% worth it!

This store is like heaven. Lots of great selections for those old school gaming lovers. It's too bad I don't live in Barrie anymore, like when I used to, I'd visit every so often. The owner and its staff are great and really helpful. You could spend hours in there if you wanted to. Hope to visit again whenever I'm back in town visiting.

This business has been my go to for retro games or just anything gaming related that I have had the urge to buy! I live in Northern Canada and selection is practically non existent so I had to find a location to shop at. Power up Gaming not only has amazing selection but great deals and discounts! I just took part in their buy 2 and get 1 free and got a handful of old GBA games as well as a few DS and it felt great to get some for free! I would order more frequently but I prefer to save up for large orders just because of shipping (not a knock on them I just live far away haha).

End of day I would love to visit the store one day during my travels and I can't wait to place my next order!

The gentleman I had interaction with (taller gentleman) was very knowlegeable and helped me out a lot. I spent over 100 and got an in store credit for the next time I visit. Altogether was a fabulous shopping experience. I will be back.

Just recently got a (new to me) Nintendo DS, and have been looking for a few games to enjoy - but finding them on FB marketplace or other sources has been difficult! By pure luck I came across Power Up Gaming through a Google search. Not only did you guys have the game I wanted. But I was blown away by the selection! Super awesome staff. Prices were great. Thank you for a great experience, I definitely will have to return again!

Awesome shop! It's grown over the years but still offers that small store experience. Staff is always friendly and the range of products has only gotten better. Tons of D&D minis and other cool stuff too!

Great experience there, but the owner Kevin crop dusted me while I was looking at a game and when I confronted him about it he blamed it on another customer.

The store for old games we had where i live closed due to covid so finding you guys was a blessing all the games i got from you were in mint condition very good service I highly recommend it

Incredible selection and fair prices, they have pretty much everything possible for retro consoles and games. Placed an order last Friday, shipped same day and delivered to my house in BC by Wednesday. All disc's were without any scratches or damage and I was able to get my XBOX Classic to power up for the first time in 17 years thanks to their power/video cables. Will definitely use their services many times in the future and will recommend this store to anyone looking for retro games, consoles, or console accessories. If I ever find myself on the other end of the country I'd love to see this place in person.

Went there on a Saturday for the first time. It's enormous inside, they have rows and rows of discs for relatively modern systems (GameCube - PS4) plus shelves full of retro classics (Atari, Colecovision, etc.) and a cabinet full of 8 & 16-bit era games. Plus on top of that a wall full of hardware accessories, PLUS two full aisles of D&D/RPG stuff. Easily one of the largest retro video gaming stores I've been to. Tons of selection. Staff was attentive and friendly and appeared to be hard at work processing new intake and product. Prices are a little bit on the high side, with 16-bit titles marked up above current PriceCharting values, but selection is excellent and I expect higher-side prices from a "premium" store like this, plus they do have a fairly generous "points" system to make up for it by keeping you coming back (spend $100 = $5 off for next time).

This store does have a great selection of games for most of their consoles, I have ordered from this store during their sales in the past and this store does an amazing job of preserving the games they have in their original cleaned condition.

But the main con about this store that has been catching me off guard is their prices. I'm sorry to be rude but $75 + Tax for a copy of Mario Kart Wii or $240 + Tax for an original xbox system is completely inexcusable. I do understand and will take in consideration that the store offers a rewards program, runs sales every month, and has an amazing warranty for every one of their systems but even with all this into consideration and even if the system or video game you are getting is in 100% pristine amazing condition, you will still endup spending a little more than what you should be spending on a game or system.

But I do also understand that having good prices and a great selection is a bit complicated considering the amount of demand and supply you guys may be getting for these video games or systems.

Other than that.if you are in a rush to get a game or system quick, or if you are a collector and they are running one of their really good buy 2 get 1 free sales for a system you collect for, I would recommend this store.

I have been going to Power Up Gaming for several years now. Friendly staff, knowledgeable and helpful. If you want to find a rare game.they will do everything they can to get it for you. Would recommend this store as it has great selection and you can earn points with every purchase.

Great selection and prices. Carts are all cleaned and have new batteries as well. A tiny bit pricier than eBay but you save on shipping, and help out a local business.

Bought a game boy game and a psp game i used to play when I was a kid for the nostalgia. Both were shipped out and arrived very quickly. Would definitely recommend this place

Dallas, the owner of this store, says he has limited knowledge on current gaming systems and will use this mindset to try and lowball you when you go in to sell your games. Not worth the trip.

I have now done a couple of online orders from Power Up Gaming. The service has been fast and efficient. The first time I spoke to the store the person I spoke to was pleasant and professional in answering my questions. Also, my orders have arrived very quick. The products I received are exactly as shown and have been in top condition.

Went there a couple of days ago and had an overall great experience shopping there. The owner Kevin even blew me a kiss on my way out.

Ordered a Xbox 360 game, Lost Oddessy. I was quite surprised to see my order arrive via Canada Post in such a quick manner in this pandemic. Another thing was the condition of this game.even though it was used, its condition is brand new like! What a great first impression!

Pretty great I recommend checking it out they got Pretty decent prices that would beat a lot of other places.

Was in your store for the first time on Fri and got Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Old Door. Been looking for it for a while but didn't want to pay a few hundred for it. My sister got me a gift card for my birthday at your store so thought I would check it out. Although the game was still over $100 I could justify it using the gift card.

Very friendly staff. Thanks to the staff member who helped me with the gift card, and the manager or owner who quickly responded to their email even on his day off. And I was very impressed with the cleanliness and how stocked your store is.

I also like that your website is live and you are able to maintain it. Unfortunately I don't find it very user friendly on a phone (and even the worker admitted this).

All in all I really do like this store. I am not a huge gamer but do love some retro games. This place has them and more it seems. (I was very tempted to get a Snorlax toque.) Keep up the good work guys.

Pricing is fair, it’s at least on par with eBay and other sources, but in this case you don’t have to pay major freight from the USA or another country. Shipping on my order was free and only took 3 business days to downtown Toronto.

You can also buy with confidence as in the event anything goes wrong with your order or product, you can communicate with someone local to you to resolve whatever that may be (I didn’t have any issues with my order, but this was something I considered before buying).

Video game store just aren’t what they used to be, I’m looking forward to stopping by in person one day.

Terrible experience. I went in looking for a copy of Battle Toads for my NES and the manager Kevin forced me to leave saying he does not welcome my kind. It isn't my fault I am of African descent!

Great store and staff, they buffed out a bunch of my games and were gracious enough to ship it to my home as I couldn't wait at the store for the time needed!

I recently got into retro gaming and purchased a couple of consoles, with games and accessories, from Power Up Gaming. They have always been very responsive, fast with shipping, and offer excellent products which they stand behind. Everything arrived inspected and in great shape. Few dealers are willing to include warranties on consoles that are 25+ years old. Truly a testament that you get what you pay for, and can purchase from here with confidence.

Prices at this place are laughable you are much better off ordering online or visiting a pawnshop/thrift shop

If you want to pay DOUBLE, YES ALMOST DOUBLE the price you would pay elsewhere then shop here! I am referencing the terribly priced N64 section that is literally robbing Barrie. Also negative reviews are banned and the posters blacklisted on facebook! Top quality professionalism! Buy Banjo Kazzoie (rough label) for 65$ CAD + 10$ shipping and tax (comes to around 85$) OR go online and buy it for around 50$. Now watch the owner cry about his 25000 dollar refinishing machine and why all his items are overpriced. Btw I've been selling/trading/repairing n64 games for almost 20 years so I am much more knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff then you are Kevin. Later nerd.

The best gaming store in Barrie! Everytime I go into the store they have exactly what I need for a most reasonable price. The staff knows what they are talking about and give you their most HONEST opinion.

I used to think that video time was a good store but ever since Power Up Gaming came, I'm completely commited to doing business only with them.

Used to be in love with this place, but the “Barrie tax” is far too high. Sorry team - you’ve priced me out of being your customer, especially when other places in Barrie have or can get the same products for 25-50% less. To top it off, customer interaction was a turn off; on my last visit I watched a staff member lord over a customer with their knowledge, speaking to them in a very disrespectful tone resulting in the client cutting the conversation off and leaving immediately.

You’re entitled to make a profit and you do back everything with an in store warranty which is great but so does everyone other brick and mortar store. Shame. This used to be my go to destination.

Thank you for your reply as well. It does show you care and I do appreciate that. I stress that there are many options both local, semi-local (the GTA with free or reasonable shipping) and reputable online sources only because they should be considered your direct competition in today's market. I won't argue that your selection is fantastic in this area. It was more my second point combined with 'value' that became a turn off.

On the topic of customer service, it was not related to a trade in which I agree many always believe their items are worth full retail and not wholesale. It was however bad enough that I left the store right after. I'd be happy to reach out to you offline to discuss.

I’ve bought only online for the past couple years and never had any issues. Fast shipping, great deals all year and lots to choose from.

Just recently, they sent me the wrong game by mistake. I sent an email and I was contacted quickly. They corrected it by shipping out the right game and also letting me keep the wrong game! ️ So the least I can do is share how awesome the store is.

A great video games boutique with nice price from retro games to new consoles and the staff is great.

Most people have gotten good service from these guys, I was not one of them. They have some cool stuff including a power bar fix for a common Xbox one issue. But communicate between myself and staff has demonstrated a significant disconnect.

By far one of my favorite stores in Barrie! These people do a fantastic job in selling and maintaining retro games and consoles. Great selection of titles and systems. Extremely positive and knowledgeable staff! If you are looking for games this is a solid place to start!

Prices are Ebay prices at best.but.they have a great selection. If you dont feel like searching online for a better deal, you could find a worse store. Microplay in Newmarket puts this place to shame.

One of the best places to find hard to find games. Amazingly knowledgeable and helpful staff. Definitely worth checking out.
