The level of service, repair and maintenance is just terrible. Very old buildings, cold inside, drafty windows, serious hot water issues even in the winter (building 1405), below standard cleaning of the communal areas, out of service elevator for many weeks. Shame on you Paramount Properties. Your only goal is profit maximization with lowest level of service. I don’t recommend these building at all, especially to the elderly and people with special needs. Avoid this place by all means.

This is a good budget option for a rental unit. I really like how the company is relaxed with letting you customize your unit, you are permitted to paint and mount things to the walls. This really lets you make it your home. I knock two stars off because it's December and our unit is currently really cold. We have to run a space heater constantly and new tenants no longer have electricity covered in the rent. I also have a big issue with the fact that the buildings allow smoking in units. I accept that existing tenants will be allowed to smoke since their lease allowed it but I wish they would start phasing this out for new tenants. There is a wiff of cigarette smoke in my unit almost daily and it really disturbes me to be subjected to that. I don't even know how it's getting in. If you are viewing a unit here make sure to take a good sniff around because if the old tenant was a smoker that smell will be embedded in everything. A decent place except for those two issues.

It's been almost three years that I live in Prince of Wales complex. I can tell you the most annoying thing is the smell of garbage that you should stand whenever you go to the parking. There is no ventilation and It is very disgusting down there. Also, the smell bothers you in the storage rooms and recycle room. In the hall ways sometimes they turn off the heating or cooling (shoulder seasons I guess) and as a result you have no ventilation and sometimes when you are waiting for the lift (that can be so long!) you feel you cannot breath anymore! It's very embarrassing when you have a guest.
Also, in May 2022 when Ottawa experienced a huge power outage, we realized our building does not have emergency power for the lifts! It was a disaster using the steps all the way up and down. It was no services at all and we did not have tap water. They have very weak services. The only good point about this place is that we don't have bugs inside. However, I once saw a rat in the garbage room! The building is very old and needs a renovation for sure. Also, it's been a few months that they are doing construction in the parking and almost every day you see your car is dirty and full of dust. At least they could give us a discount for these months for the underground parking. Customer service is nothing for this company. Last but not least, the windows are so old and loose that make you feel outside in winter when you sit close to them!

I have lived here since 2015. There are a few problems, but what can you expect in a 50 year old building. The apartment was cold in the winter, so the company gave me a space heater. They have since fixed the boiler system, so heat is no long a problem.
If the front office staff is rude to you, then probably you've been rude to them. I have no problem with the staff, they have always been professional and curtious to me. They ask about my health, since I did haved a few issues when I first moved in.
The only real complaint I have is the people who clean the apartments for new tenants aren't very good. And the carpets are old and really should be replaced. Preferrably with plank flooring.

I've lived here in a studio unit for a year and a half, and also a two bedroom several years ago.

Pros:
-Apartments are spacious (some of the studios are tiny but you can rent ones that are larger in certain buildings).
-Administrative staff are helpful most of the time.
-Great location. You can walk to Carleton, you are near a pharmacy, Tims, grocery store, dentist, hair dresser, beach, canal etc. You are also within a reasonable driving distance to all ends of the city.
-There is a bus stop right out front of the building.
-I've never had any issues with bed bugs or cockroaches or anything like that.
-Hydro, Water and Heat are all included in the overall cost.
-Really nice views if you're on the end of the building facing mooney's bay.
-No rent increase in the last 2 years.

Cons:
-Laundry rooms need to be cleaned more thoroughly.
-The apartments are freezing in the winter. I was told by staff that my room meets the minimum requirement (he pointed the heat measure directly at the heater so no kidding it's hot there). Space heaters and plastic to cover the windows are mandatory.
-I feel like staff aren't super responsive or helpful when it comes to noise complaints. I only ever had an issue with one tenant a year ago but even after multiple noise complaints, it continued (might've decreased a bit but still happened until they eventually left). There needs to be a more reasonable and efficient way to deal with noise, especially when they have video proof of it happening.
-The floors are super cheap in most units and the little tiles tend to pop out of place and you have to press them back in. Not a huge issue but a bit of a nuisance.
-Very outdated aesthetic in some units (ex.shower tiles with flowers that look like they're from the 70's)
-The visit parking is pretty expensive. 12$ for 12 hours. Just isn't super reasonable if someone is visiting for a few days.

Overall this has been a decent place to stay for me. I wouldn't consider living here long term, but it's been good enough for me to stay for this long. There's definitely nicer places in Ottawa but you'll also pay more for it.

Failing plumbing system in the Lord Mountbatten building. There have been leaks on every floor, and the result is holes made and patched in every hallway, except the basements.

Office staff and management are very rude and unprofessional. I let them know the apartment is cold, they said the temperature is within city guidelines and that I need to purchase my own heaters instead of actually resolving the issue. They don't care about the tenants even if they get sick from the cold temperature, all they see is money. Windows are decades old and all the cold wind goes in. Apartments are very old and not in good condition. What makes it worse in that they are rude and never try to resolve the issues, as if it is for free and we're not paying rent.

Don't rent here unless you really have to! Plenty of other warm places with decent staff and services out there!

I’m not sure why there’s some outliers saying that the building is so terrible. This is my first apartment I’ve ever lived in and the staff and tenants are all very nice. Jhada was incredibly helpful finding me the right apartment for the right price. Everything is included in the rent and in todays economy, you’re not gonna find your own space any cheaper. Sauna and pool on the top floor finally open! As per previous reviews, building can get a little bit cold in the winter but a space heater does do wonders. For those who can’t find underground parking, kinda bizzare considering how many spots are open down there but maybe it differs based on your building. Overall I genuinely really enjoy living here

I came to update the review I made three years ago about this place as a grown man rather than the university kid
1: the luckiest thing happened here is I met the best renting office ever, Jada (didn’t remember if I got her name right) and her colleagues were always super friendly and they were always trying their best to help me even when I was leaving the property.
2: the location of these buildings are very good, shoppers, farmers pick, Tim, McDonald’s, gas etc. With its surroundings and it’s price, even they are old old properties, its still an ideal renting place for students.
3: you will be getting a lot of spiders and other bugs both inside and outside your unit and building and the amenities in the building (especially laundry room). It’s because the environment nearby, the beautiful mooney’s bay and the experimental farm down the road. These factors build up a perfect living place for those bugs. These spiders protect you from other bugs but also themselves will be annoying enough.

“The only star is for the super nice office staff and it’s location here. The apartment is old and it always feels dirty no matter how often you clean it. Spiders everywhere, outside, between and inside your windows. Spiders inside the units and between the windows, I really don’t know how they come in, I have never ever opened those windows. Spiders in the laundry room are so disgusting when you’re pulling out your just washed clothes out of the washing machine and there are spiders and bugs right above and beside you. If u wanna be Spider-Man then live here, if you’re in Carleton and don’t have a car, maybe u can live here and bear it. The others! Carefully consider this place! Living in here is a regret. ”

Honestly I was scared to move here after seeing all these reviews! This place isn’t extremely fancy, it is an older building, but it is a great place for students or if you have a lower income. People are saying it’s expensive to live here but compared to the other places in Ottawa it’s cheep rent starts around 1000$ for your own space hydro and heating included! I’ve never had any issues with the elevator, maintenance has alway come within the week when requested, it is a bit cold on the -30 day but a small heater does wonders, they do fire safety and have security, the laundry machines are normal size idk what people are complaining about. One thing I was disappointed about tho was the squash courts, since they aren’t in my building I can’t use them! Also jhada was a great help when moving in as for all the comments about staff being rude when moving out I think it’s important to understand this is a business they are running so when someone leaves it creates more work for the business and loss of money if you don’t give much notice either I kinda get why they might not be as nice anymore.

A question: do families with kids usually live in apartment complexes? I have 2 kids 8&10 years-old.

Friendly staff, clean building, service readily available and quiet apartments. I have lived at 1375 for two years now and have no complaints!

I love that it's close to nature, water, and everything is nearby. Downtown is not far as well. Or hospital's, school's, universities.

They have no right to charge for a 2 months deposit, they come up with new conditions (never mentioned when I signed my lease just to make me sign and take my money) every time I ask for one of the two months to be released. They would not release a month until I called the Landlord and Tenant Board and found out they cannot ask for a two months' deposit (unlawful) and this is when they decided to release a month. If they decide not to give one of the two months back just file an application with the board. PS: office ladies can be really rude and the management team probably doesn't care!

Where do I even begin! (building 1375)

My apartment has the most amazing view and it is exactly what I needed.

From the day I requested a viewing, up until giving my 2 months notice of leaving (1 year and 6 months later), the team at Prince of Wales Complex has been amazing!

Right away they made me feel at home and made the transition and move in very easy!

The building is nice and secure, security and maintenance are very easy to get a hold of the and ladies in the office are nothing short of the friendliest people ever!

New washers and dryers, pool and sauna, outdoor pool, tennis courts, squash court, ping pong room, party room, 4 elevators, pet friendly, walking distance to Mooney's Bay, right along the Canal and so much more!

You cannot go wrong by choosing this complex as your next home!

Thank you to everyone at Prince of Wales Complex!

Where do I start, firstly there cheap floor tiles cost the same amount as gold apparently, getting repairs will cost you a fortune while they tear themselves up without you touching them, goodluck parking in your outdoor spaces that are never shoveled plowed before 12pm, as a normal 9-5 job you will almost never be able to use your parking properly, I was working morning shifts 5am to 12pm I'd come back to piles of snow and ice in my spot from the previous day's, then while it did snow while I was at work my space would completely untouched, whether they were suppose to take care of our parking spaces I don't know.lastly you are gonna have to beg to get your deposit back they don't care they won't try to contact you, I had to contact them multiple times. So if you want a ice and slow covered parking space that just saps your money, if you want floor tiles that are made of gold apparently this is your place to be!

I was stuck in the elevator for an hour and when I was calling the security at first, He was acting strange and laughing at the same time. It seemed that it was stopped purposely. I had to get the EMT to get me and my brother out of there. Their service is really bad and they have no serious actions towards the problems
