From our check-in to our checkout was spectacular! A special shout out to Jason who was amazing with our car and luggage!

My partner and I had a wonderful midweek getaway to the Prince of Wales. A very beautiful part of the Vintage Hotels group, Prince of Wales, is a short walk to the Shaw theaters, Queen's Royal Park, and really all the shops and restaurants of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Yes, it is a bit extravagant, but full disclosure we had a package which included our stay and breakfast in the Noble dining room. Our room, in the Prince of Wales Court (the addition), was very spacious and well-appointed (king-size bed, fireplace, and all the expected conveniences).
Breakfast in the Noble was delicious. Eggs Benedict, fresh squeezed orange juice, and good coffee are a great start to any day! Lovely, friendly, helpful staff throughout the hotel (thanks, Ross, for looking after us at breakfast!).
A splurge to be sure, even in the low tourist period, consider a stay at the Prince of Wales if you have the opportunity!

I was here for a birthday staycation and had a wonderful time. I purchased the retreat to wine country package which included 1 night accommodation, dinner and breakfast. My room was a suite with a fireplace. I also had a signature body wrap spa treatment as well as traditional afternoon tea. I enjoyed everything and the customer service from the staff was exceptional! There is also a gym, pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Location is great if you want to explore outside the hotel.
I will be honest that this hotel was not my first choice but glad that I went. I enjoy the victorian, traditional feel and would come back again.

We try and make it at least once a year before our busy season starts for our business, I'm never disappointed.

Andrea is amazing and fills many different shoes here, my stay was excellent and I made a new frend:) thank you Andrea

Wonderful place, excellent staff, was there for the tea room. Stale food, not what I expected for the price.

High tea at this Vintage hotel is in a class of its own.
We were treated very well, the cucumber and avocado sandwiches were absolutely
delicious with a smack of sourdough.
Great respect for culinary management, staff looked great in their uniforms.
Very high standards here, most likely passed on from generation to generation,
was our first time at this, need to have proper etiquette and nice clothes.some of the guests looked glamorous and really enjoying the moment with
their family members.

Then we went on for the carriage ride, loved the equestrian style outfit of the driver, the cultural traditions of this society is wonderful.

Members of a motorcycle club rode by, didn’t really distract the horse, just a short pause at 32 Westlane Avenue, wanted to indulge in more public photos but no access.

My wife and I have stayed here several times in the past and always loved it. We booked a single night stay with dinner and breakfast packages. When we went to check in at 3pm our room was not ready. We came back and hour later and the room was still not finished however the young lady at the desk offered to cover our breakfast to make up for the wait. We had a great dinner in the hotel restaurant and returned to our room for the night. At 11: 20pm the fire alarm blared for about ten minutes. Again at 3: 45am it blared again for nearly 30 minutes. In the morning when we were checking out the girl at the desk apologized for the interruptions during the night and discounted our room Even with the interruptions we will still return because of the customer service we received during our stay.

Had Traditional High Tea in The Drawing Room. Tea is an experience. Hand sanitizer on the table was dirty as well as the knife. The salmon tasted very fishy and the bread that had the spicey guac on it was chewy which made it hard to eat. That being said the scones were delicious as well as the treats and ham and Swiss on a croissant.

Very nice hotel with lots of charm & history. Staff super nice that will help you with any request.
Breakfast serive was very good with service that was very attentive.
Lots to do with a shuttle service that makes it easy to get around town.
A nice anniversary night to remember.

We have been there five times this summer. The staff is awesome. Rooms are clean. I get the best sleep. Keep up the great work Prince of Wales Staff.
31 December 2021 17:37
Really enjoyed my stay. The staff and service provided was excellent. So much history and beauty to this building. Feels like you are at another point in time.

The food in the restaurant was also decent. Really enjoyed their breakfast options. If you are in the area, definetly worth a visit.

Its central and has great walking options. Close to everything.

High tea in the Prince of Wales Hotel at Niagara on the Lake - wonderful experience in a charming hotel - excellent service by Grace - delicious food with enough left over to take home for nibbles later on! Pictures don’t do it justice - a must when visiting NOTL!

We stayed in Nov of 2021 for 1 night. The lobby and other public spaces are beautiful, however, I thought the rooms were too plain for the price it costs. I was disappointed with check in because it starts at 3 PM and when we arrived after 3 PM, we had to wait about 20 minutes because our room wasn't ready. Again, for such an expensive hotel, I would expect them to be on time. Other than that, everyone was welcoming and friendly.
15 December 2021 13:23
I had THE BEST massage of my entire life at the spa. Mercedes is truly an artist. I will absolutely be back!
09 December 2021 14:57
Went to the restaurant and the food and atmosphere was incredible. Great friendly staff. The restaurant and hotel are absolutely gorgeous. In the heart of Niagara on the lake.

I do not normally write reviews; however, it is my view that a review of certain staff (s) conduct would be beneficial for other people who are considering to stay at Prince of Wales.

It appears that certain hotel staff needs further hospitality training. I do not consider us "high maintenance" but we do know when we are being treated unfairly and borderline discriminated. I will explain this statement further.

My fiancé booked a weekend getaway to celebrate my birthday. The hotel itself is amazing with a vintage touch and is really close to a lot of attractions; however, our experience crumbled when we tried to book a table for the next day's breakfast. The booking staff was rude and avoided eye contact. We asked whether it is possible to reserve a window seat as it was for my birthday. The reservation staff, I believe Mary is her name, laughed sarcastically and just flat out said no as they do not take reservations due to Covid-19 reasons. Fair enough aside from the sarcastic laugh and we proceed to book our time.

While booking us, she appeared to be annoyed and continued to hastily asked our name and room number several times. At this point another couple who were dressed a tad nicer than us lined up and Mary fully smiled at them and almost left us. The only reason she did not is because I stopped her and asked a question. As a background, me and my fiancé are of Asian decent and the other couple are, well, not Asians. I will leave it at that.

The next morning, we came back to the restaurant at our designated time to have our breakfast. Mary was there but was talking to a server for 2 minutes before acknowledging us and again, hastily asked for our name and room number. I asked whether there is a window seat and she said no and took us to our table. However, I was directly in front of a clean, untouched, ready to sit on table. We just assumed that they kept it unoccupied due to Covid-19 reasons; however, five minutes later, another couple (non-Asians) were seated on the window table.

After the incident, I went to the front desk to complain about what just occurred. Reception advised that they will look into it and give us an explanation. A few minutes later, the supervisor spoke to us to mitigate the situation. While I appreciate his efforts, they were not able to provide an explanation why the table was given to another couple when we got there first and Mary made it clear several times that they do not accept reservations and it's a first come, first serve basis.

At this point, we still have not received an explanation from the hotel nor an apology from Mary. As such, it appears clear that we were discriminated and based on what transpired, it is reasonable to assume that it was due to us being Asians.

While our stay was meant for my birthday, we never implied to the staff that they should treat us specially. We only asked to be treated fairly. I am still waiting for an explanation from the hotel. Should I not receive a reasonable explanation, I will definitely escalate this matter to the HRTO. Thank you for reading and I do hope other find some benefit in my lengthy (first ever) review.

Absolutely gorgeous place, everything spectacular, wonderful service, and a delicious tea. Couldn't ask for more.
23 November 2021 21:42
1 star because you can’t go any lower than that even if you wanted to.

This text is what I emailed to these “prince of wales” people.

Did I pay $1400 to have a power outage?
And there is no one at the front desk to help except Drew, who couldn’t do anything. I just walked out and there are places much smaller than “prince of wales” that have power generators. I wonder why you guys don’t have it. I’m not able to sleep and I wonder if I’m ever going to be able to wake up around check out time. But then, there isn’t much I can do. I seriously wonder how you people go to sleep (with power generators at your homes) when you know that you’re duping people like me. I know you are going to charge me for every single second that I spend here after check out time. And to top it all, I now have a bug crawling up on my foot. Awesome!
Never ever going to even think of coming back here again.
PS: It’s our engagement night.

1st time staying here and attending my cousin's wedding. Awesome experience. Helpful friendly staff.
20 November 2021 10:56
Wonderful breakfast on a rainy Fall morning.the library bar was however, the pinnacle of our weekend away!
17 November 2021 21:50
Excellent place for afternoon tea! Fantastic service, delicious tea, and managed to accommodate scones without raisins, thankfully. Good sandwiches and lemon tarts, the one thing I'd have liked is thinner cucumber in the sandwich.
11 November 2021 3:35
Fantastic experience. Victoria our waitress was wonderful. My daughters absolutely loved it and I can't wait to come back.
08 November 2021 10:56
Came for some afternoon tea at the Drawing Room in the Prince of Wales hotel. The inside was stunning; they did such a wonderful job maintaining the look. As soon as we set foot we were taken back in time. Our server Grace was very nice and even helped recommend some great teas - we chose the Palace Chai and Peaches and Cream. The finger sandwiches and pastries that came along were delicious. For the entire experience it’s definitely worth every penny - the price wasn’t expensive at all compared to many other places that serve afternoon tea!
29 October 2021 4:37
Excellent check in service. Accommodations were excellent as well. The breakfast was awesome! So much food could barely finish it. Our two waiters Frank and Tristan were fantastic! Everyone was so pleasant. Ample parking. Overall a beautiful quiet hotel. We can’t wait to go back.
10 October 2021 23:25
Love this place! The environment is peaceful and beautiful. The service was amazing.
The food was delightful (breakfast), quick and any modifications needed were made with ease.
What a great experience. If you are in NOTL take the time to visit.
08 October 2021 12:32
High Tea. 3rd time. Always a special occasion. Love the atmosphere. Staff is professional and friendly.
07 October 2021 9:33
Quality was disappointing considering the prices. Lump blue crab burger was soggy and no crusty bite. Texture was oatmeal-like. Sprouts on burger added an odd earthy flavour to the crab. Pickled onions may have been the highlight of the burger. Bun should have been toasted to add some texture contrast to the burger, but no. Fries were done well, but not seasoned at all. Plate could have afforded some kind of garnish, but what was ordered was simply what you got.barely.
04 October 2021 7:38
We didn't stay at the hotel (unfortunately, hopefully next time), but my wife and I were at the Drawing Room for high tea because it was our wedding anniversary.

From the time we entered, we were greeted warmly by our server (and even wished us a happy anniversary), I must say her customer service skills are top notch! The tea selections were pretty vast, and the finger foods (sandwiches, pastries, desserts and cheeses, which cost a bit more) were awesome! The highlight was the scones, those were soft, warm and fluffy!

My only critique (not a negative one) is that there was a lot of food (even though each items were small portions). We had to box the leftovers to take back home with us. Having said that, if you had lunch before your high tea time, be prepared to have leftovers!

We will definitely be back, and back really soon!
20 September 2021 10:03
Extremely overpriced, very old, mould everywhere, pool old and dirty, hotub not functional and covered in calcium, food in the bar was dry but costly. We will never stay there again.
15 September 2021 18:13
Ok, wasn't happy with the valet parking left my vehicle doors unlocked, dust on the light fixture and tv stand.
24 February 2019 6:35
Great food a shame about the poor service. So slow.way too slow. Don't care how fancy you think you are 30 minutes at a table without any service is unacceptable
20 February 2019 10:29
We had tea at the Prince of Wales hotel and not only was the venue lovely and the tea delicious, but the service was also excellent. A wonderful experience!

Room in “Cottage” building at Prince of Whales Hotel. SPACIOUS, room, HUGE bathroom.

Steps from the main tourist area, shops etc.
Main hotel has a nice spa area downstairs, and a tiny workout area with the usual treadmills resistance machines. Nice mirrors and wood paneling in this area.

Upstairs is a small indoor pool, hot tub and sauna in a nice room with good natural light.

Caveat for Cottage Room:
As the name “Vintage Hotels” indicates, the Reno is old and it shows. The “cottage” feels older and is less expensive than main hotel. It has slightly tarnished brass, a water stain, clock radio with a CD player.you get the idea.
Cottage is in separate building 200 yards from main lobby.

Vintage-ness of Reno didn’t bother us at all. Decor is still awesome. Had a great stay! Overall impression was “luxurious “.

Bring an aux cable for better music, and maybe an HDMI cable and device to stream your own movies.if you need to watch better tv.

Better still, hit the town, the awesome spas (plural and included), and restaurants. All walking distance. Main hotel is upscale and very well appointed. Restaurants looked fantastic and expensive. (They were all booked up so I didn’t eat there).

The room we had was huge, very quiet, and very warm (winter visit). The bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms. Main room had gas fireplace, double bed, desk chairs etc. All very nice. Felt quite lavish.
04 February 2019 2:10
We had high tea at the Prince of Wales in the drawing room. The whole property is beautifully decorated and service is top notch. The tea was varied and tasted great. The food was good, some of the sandwich bread was slightly going hard due to being left out and prepared in advance. The price is high, but for the ambience and experience it is worth it for special occasions.
03 February 2019 16:58
Lively staff that really want to make you stay a special one. Always very busy so please book ahead! The tea is such a lovely and relaxing experience for good friends!
01 February 2019 3:43
I stayed there this past weekend.i give them a 2 star because of there spa. The hotel and staff were amazing. The spa on the other hand i had a horrible experience.i got a scrub first which was preformed by an esthetician who did not stop talking and told me the pillar and post spa is 100 times better.then went into a massage with an RMT and got the worst massage i had ever gotten.the therapist was wearing tensor bands and braces around her wrist and elbow.i could not believe what i paid for someone to just rub lotion on me.never again will i book there and i will take there esthetician advice snd book the pillar and post.

We came here for the beautiful Christmas Day brunch, and it made the day just as special as it should have been. All the staff was incredibly professional they seemed to understand how important this day and moment was to all the guests and treated us with patience and attentiveness. The building is beautifully decorated in quite an elegant way, there is artistry from the paintings on the wall to the crown moldings. The food was a variety of traditional premium breakfast items (eggs, potatoes, pancakes, french toast ect) along with salads, fruits, an entire cheese table, a variety of meats for the holidays, numerous vgetable dishes, and a large dessert table with fabulous pastries and fruits. It was really a wonderful and worthwhile time reflective of the price.
10 January 2019 4:16
The horrible service for a reserved xmas dinner that was reserved for a few months was ruined by a horrific server who completely ignored us and had us wait 4hrs in total for our meal. Plus food was cold, wrong order so much went wrong. Though the manager brought a rose and wine and was kind it didn't help the bad taste from the experience. We didn't get any room cleaning or bed turn down. The washroom was freezing with no hot water for a shower. The room was abit dirty stuff on the wall near the bed eww and the wallpaper was dirty. The hotel was beautiful in its own historic way.
08 January 2019 21:28
My family and I are very disappointed in this hotel and will not be returning. Although it is very beautiful the disorganization and confusion regarding our room was very stressful. The staff are pleasant but disorganized I suggest management should be more aware of situations like ours. I was with my family to celebrate our anniversary first the reservation lady was rude and short on the phone no patience with customers
second when we arrived at the hotel aprox 1 pm our rooms were not ready for check in till 3pm.due to a burst water pipe we were told to wait and shop then told at 5 pm the rooms were ready and then told again no they weren't we then had to wait longer. Finally the rooms were ready we walked in and the stench of paint fumes over whelmed us. At 6 pm we decided to switch hotels.this is totally unacceptable and had ruined our time here. For the amount of money people spend on staying here we expect a lot more. We will not be returning.
08 January 2019 13:51
Very nice hotel with a rich history and great atmosphere. The suite was very clean and spacious, bed and sheets are very comfy. The staff is very friendly and polite. Overall very good.
07 January 2019 11:17
An amazing old piece of history in NOTL. Stayed in room 105. It was supposed to be a superior Queen, however it seemed to me like a usual room. Nothing too special, other than the decorative shades and curtains. Room was very clean, and the robes were comfy as can be. The hotel is beautiful. Pieces of fine art scattered throughout, even in the pool room. Which also includes a sauna and hot tub. The reception was kind and accommodating. Able to answer any questions I had. Food was excellent (get the Charcuterie board, it was excellent). Overall I would recommend the experience. Wear that comfy robe like you own the place, and enjoy your stay in NOTL.
04 January 2019 0:57
The hotel is right in the heart of a small town for a quick stroll. Every staff in the hotel was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were as expected for a 4 star hotel. Drawing room and Noble restaurant is definitely recommended.
03 January 2019 11:16
Lovely tea in the drawing room. Sandwiches and desserts were more than enough, service was pleasant but not obtrusive. Hostess was flustered and we had to come back and wait in line again, after arriving 15 minutes before our reservation. Was seated 30 minutes after our reservation. Wasn't thrilled about that, but rest of experience was lovely.
28 December 2018 21:55
I had dinner and Christmas day brunch here. My family and I enjoyed both meals. Brunch had a very good selection and the cakes were phenomenal. It's a very nice hotel with friendly staff. The managers are very professional and kind.
14 December 2018 6:51
Come here with my family a few times a year for high tea as well as we celebrated my grand parents 60th wedding anniversary in a private dinning room. We always have a good time and enjoy the service. A fun thing for an older family to do
13 December 2018 11:59
The prince of Wales is located on the main Street of Niagara on the lake. The room we stayed in had just been renovated, and in fact we were the first ones to stay in the room. We had issues with getting into our room on time, however the hotel manager resolved our issues. He went above and beyond to make it up to us. The food at the restaurant was delicious and we also visited the tea room. The tea room was incredibly decorated and offered an array of interesting teas.
02 December 2018 16:45
At first my wife and I were very enamored with the hotel, this later fell apart for us with two complaints, the beds are horrible, and there was a wedding with loud music that did not stop until after midnight.the music would be ok in the summer when we would likely be out however with temperatures being low in November we hoped to stay in and enjoy each others company.so our sleep was terrible, and considering we had the diner and breakfast pkg, this ended up being $600 we expected a lot more especially from a hotel/spa. I guess they expect you to book a message for the lack of sleep and crooked back you get from your stay

Update. I called the number that the "owner" provided. I talked to 3 different people who passed me on to someones voicemail that never called me back.
26 October 2018 3:23
Love Niagara-on-the-Lake. Have stayed here for a murder mystery weekend with my parents about 25 years ago! Wonderful memories. Lovely hotel, would come back again in a heartbeat.
16 October 2018 15:52
Wondrfully maintained classical hotel woth stunning interiors, chic terrace and genuine decorations. A true gem of the glorious past of Lower Canada and the Niagara Valley. Just step in to go back 200 years!
05 October 2018 5:30
The wait at check in was brutal, the lady made me wait & wait and then I noticed a possible shift change and I was completely forgotten. The staff were too busy entertaining a older lady who kept complaining about her air conditioner. Guests came & went and we were still waiting. Last night at the Churchill Lounge the older blonde waitress was so rude to me over a glass of water. I used my manners yet she felt she could be rude to me. Not necessary at all, especially since your job is to serve people. I arranged a bottle of champagne for our 20th wedding anniversary celebration while at the Prince of Wales only to be told the morning of that we wouldn't be getting it and I was only told when I asked where it was. I would have brought my own champagne if I had of known the Prince of Wales was unable to accommodate me. When you're only staying 1 night and you are celebrating, these things impact your stay. We spent a lot of money to stay here & To the lady in the street who asked me if I would stay at this hotel again, the answer is NO! Prince of Wales

Best high tea I’ve ever had!
Love their tea, they will offer you a tea box let you smell those types of the tea then choose the one you like.
Also, they have several choices of high tea, we just chose the traditional one.
And the environment is sooooo nice.
The prices are affordable and not really expensive like other places for high tea. The traditional afternoon tea is 36 per person. You can also order wine here.
They also offer the little princess/prince menu for children and it’s $17 I think
04 September 2018 11:22
My wife and I were stuffed into a basement room with only one window with a rather dismal view which is such a shame considering what a beautiful place NOTL is. What is with that smell? There's an omnipresent musty smell that instantly reminded me of hide and seek in my grandmothers wardrobe.mothballs and mildew with just a whisper of cheap sherry. For the price we paid, which is comparable to many fine Toronto hotels like the Ritz or Fairmont, it's just unacceptable. We've stayed at most of the vintage hotel groups properties and have never been disappointed before. If booking, I suggest insisting your room be in the main building to avoid the Labrinth of hallways and stairs that would make daedalus proud. Did I mention the creepy hotel Transylvania portraits of gussied up dead white people littered about? Their eyes follow you everywhere. I've never complained about a hotel before, or reviewed one, but the disappointment in this hotel forced my hand.
