Dr. Robert Grant should not practice medicine. He has zero compassion. His prescribed treatment only caused suffering, deterioration and early death. The patients are test subject. Of course the whole heath system is in shambles.

I highly suggest getting a patient advocate, and getting a second opinion if you have a loved one here. If you can afford it seek private care. They should have given her a surgery in the fall but convinced us to do chemo instead because of the 30% death rate. My mothers last months were absolutely horrific because she was only able to see one family member because of ridiculous visiting policies, the doctors had no empathy or bedside manner. The chemotherapy destroyed her body and mind and the worst part was that it didn’t even help her cancer. Very thankful to live in Canada and to the nurses but the doctors do not seem to know what they are doing. A week before her death they told her chemotherapy was working just not as much as they wanted but she was still on track to receive her surgery which they teased her with for months and than they sent her to hospice a few days later. After getting a second opinion they told me that her tumour had never shrunk in the first place. We went into this situation so naive and trusting of the doctors and the hospital because it’s so highly rated. Unfortunately we live in a capitalist society where nothing is actually free and they used her as a lab rat. We paid the ultimate price. I think we all think that because we live in Canada where health care is covered unlike in America That we are lucky and have to put up with horrific health care, insanely long wait times ect which is not something that can be over looked when a person has cancer because it will quite literally kill them. The methods they use are barbaric and rarely seem to work. Unless your family donated a wing don’t expect the high quality services that are advertised. Be on high alert at all times and always try to have someone there during the day since staff are terrifyingly low. Take notes and videos and keep in mind that they will not let on the importance of physio. If they threaten to take away your rights to cancer care because their physio therapists were too busy, hire an online physio therapist. Good luck to anyone with a loved one here you will need it. We begged the doctors for any alternative and they completely unempathetic. They seem clueless and heartless. I hope karma gets everyone that caused my mothers untimely death.

I feel very fortunate to be a patient at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. I firmly believe they saved my life, thus far. After 4 years of top notch care it saddens me to say 5th floor staff do not support PM masking policy. Not for wearing a mask, not for eating in the waiting room, nor for drinking in the waiting room. When I reported the transgressions and safety concerns I was loudly humiliated by a clerical staff member. Shame on you! You have a duty to support policy and a duty to keep us safe.

The care of patients at PMH has changed in the past 10 years, very much for the worse.

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013, the doctors and nurses and other staff were extremely helpful and I felt taken care of.
When my cancer came back in January 2020, I noticed that in general from the blood clinic and even the GU clinic, I feel very much like number. My radiation Oncologist, Dr Raman is amazing and the nurses are very good but overworked.
As for the administrative staff, at times they are rude, they don't return phone calls, they forget to book follow up appointments. It feels terrible that I'm always chasing them to do their job.
PMH may be one of the top research hospitals in the world.
However the way the admin staff treat cancer patients is humiliating and terrible. In that respect, I doubt PMH is even in the top 100 in the world.
They just don't seem to care, although every patient at PMH is a cancer patient.
PMH management needs to take a hard look at their administrative staff. The admon staff make you feel terrible, the way that they deal with you and speak to you.
Absolutely terrible. If I could give them a score of zero, that's what I would do.

Our experience was December 2020- August 2021. I would do 0 stars if I could. Terrible! My husband was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumor and each doctor had terrible bedside manner, terrible approaches and the faces they give you to deliver you news. A huge part of cancer is keeping positive despite what prognosis can be. Uplift sprits and give your patient some sort of hope to get through each day! Despite a 1-2 year life sentence. We saw Dr. Warren and his crew of “interns” We felt like a number. We switched Oncologists half way through our treatment and I wish we had done it sooner. We went to Credit Valley and they were so uplifting and amazing! Made us feel like family and cared for us. Cancer patients need comfort. It’s a huge mental game and despite their “knowledge” of cancer they lack empathy and hope. Maybe a course they need to teach in school if you ask me. Encouraging words made all the difference! We never got it here.
10 November 2022 3:02
Nobody wants to get sick! EVER! But if you do? You should be NO where else but RIGHT HERE.from the CEO to the CUSTODIANS and EVERYONE in between! YOU are the besttttt.
03 November 2022 5:54
With all the money they receive for "research", they are refusing to treat patients!
EVERYONE should have the right to treatment, clinical trials and second chances.
They even don't want to try and find a plan/treatment. Just go home and die! Shame on you.

My wife and I are nothing but thankful for all the good all you people are doing for the cancer patients and that goes from the doctors to the guy working at the parking building, we are very lucky to have these people working at Princess Margaret Cancer hospital. You guys are the Champs thank you so much for all you’ve done for Christine Yovorsky, my wife, it’s been a long three years but without you guys it would have been the worst years of her life, thank you again

Radiation therapists are kind, supportive, and compassionate when you are not at your best. They make the world a better place. The doctors, however, rarely if ever call you back, you have to call and call and call. The admins NEVER pick up the phone. All that money was donated for chairs and rooms with donors' names. Why don't they hire more administrative staff that PICK UP THE PHONE, or call you back? Other hospitals do it, why can't they?

Josefina, Nina, Paul and Bobby were very helpful and very, very professional. Jim Meek

This hospital loves to promote treatments that do not work and even make their "patients" worse! Then they like to call you after the person they were "treating" has passed away looking for them! The only time I heard from our "EXPERT" was when they wanted pictures for their "studies". Talk about adding insult to injury. These "experts" are a joke. Would love to give 0 stars, but that's not an option. Crazy how so much money the Princess Margaret Lottery brings in. I wonder if they put that money into making their building look good or to find a cure for cancer.
27 March 2022 13:40
I have had two surgeries at the hospital within the last year. I am very grateful for my wonderful surgeon and the care that was provided to me by the staff. But I feel I need to mention that I would have appreciated being offered a wheelchair after my surgery or at least being asked if I was able to see myself out without the help of one. Is there a limited amount of wheelchairs available? The hospital could improve in this area. Otherwise great overall experience.
08 March 2022 9:15
Parking and security staff is extremely aggressive and rude. I can’t believe my tax dollars pay for this. I tried to drop off my sick mother and security tried to rush the drop off when no one was behind us and there was enough room to go around. This is a hospital. People are sick and they need 2 minutes to get out. And again I WAS NOT BLOCKING TRAFFIC SO NO NEED TO BE RUDE. Please train your staff better to respect the patients.

Dr. John Waldron is an outstanding doctor and gentleman. My 6+ years under his care has been an experience I will never forget. He is straightforward, honest, compassionate, and human. He is the reason I am alive today. The Glanville family sincerely thank's you, Dr. Waldron.

Excellent hospital had a 7.5 cm tumor removed at St Mike's hospital another great hospital were Dr Ginsburg removed my tumor 7.5 cm wide 6.8 cm deep and starting down my neck I could barely walk and was in constant seizure thank God hr saved me and I survived.they had the whole top of my skull opened but could not get it all the tumor out so after a very short and horrible stay at West Park health center (please don't let your loved ones go there it was horrible) I was then sent to Princess Margerit cancer hospitals for acessment and I had an MRI and it was determined that I have to get 31 session's of radiation to my brain covering my third eye and the back of my neck plus behind the ears very long session's that the attendant and nurses made both not so bad, but about halfway through the radiation treatments I started getting seizures full blowed and went to hospital get an MRI and was given anti seizure drugs kept things under control. But on the way to radiation in the waiting room I had a full seizure durry preparation for treatmen they got me off the chair and on to the floor on a mat when the nurses and doctors held me down and got me an IV with loraszipan and that stopped the seizure so I spent the night there the nurses were great loved them all and had a a good experience at a terrifying time for me they let me go a few days later and I finished radiation treatment and I am now cancer free thank God Jennifer and Andrea plus Dr Tsung and all the staff God bless you all and keep up the good work and please stay safe please check out my other reviews and photos thanks again

This review is going to be tough. My mom's had ovarian cancer for the last three years and my following comments are completely exclusive of the fact that her illness is terminal. Over the last three years, I've been in numerous occasions at Princess Margaret where the oncology doctors have looked at my mom's most recent scans only 5 minutes before the appointment itself. Imagine this: my mom sits there waiting for 3 hours until she sees the doctor per her scheduled appointment, and all the oncology team does is feel her stomach, check her blood pressure, and then pick a completely un-customized, detrimental standard chemotherapy treatment.

What they'll do is run you through a bombardment of 'statistically proven' chemo drugs until the patient is nothing but skin and bones, and when they realize that isn't working, they'll try one of a very few available clinical trials, three whopping years later. No one actually sits down and ponders how and if the individual patient may benefit from tailored treatment methods.

Me and my mother were witness to this one terrible time where we went in for a clinical trial consultation and the trial doctor was completely unprepared and had no clue what my mom's CTs, bloodwork, and medical history were. After asking about what trial would be ideal for my mom, the doctor said "let me check your mom's history for a minute and I'll be back". Completely clueless.

We've had second opinions from other oncology departments after the 2nd year, and they told us that Princess Margaret should NOT have administered paclitaxel for so long, because it should have been known from the start that she was resistant to that chemo drug.

Overall, I'm disappointed. Princess Margaret may be a great research hospital, but it's treatment capabilities are severely lacking. I had so much faith in the doctors there, but now I've only lost faith in the hospital's supposed prowess, but also the Canadian medical system in general.

I will be forever grateful to the amazing staff at Princess Margaret for my cancer treatment. In the months that I've been a patient I have never heard a cross word, met a miserable staff member or been met with anything but consideration and respect. Special mention to Dr Bouchard who's knowledge, skill and compassion is second to none. I truly believe she and her team saved my life. Thank-you.

This hospital gets 100 millions dollars donation from Canadian yet has WORST DISTURBING GENERAL TELEPHONE System and Administrative Management. For example; I have business just by MIR Department; which has its on Direct Phone Number that could be printed on the letter to me. But the letter I got for the day of MRI had general phone number and it was impossible I get through because asking as Patient No; bbut I am not patient yet

Mondays are always the busiest and for most Monday represents the start of their chemotherapy cycle. Two to three hours for the average person for medicine infusion. If your appointment is at 10 a.m. Expect 30 to 60 minutes from 10 a.m. Before you are called to your personal pod. Bring your compassion, apathy and love.

A great hospital. Very professional, well organized and hardworking staff. Thank you, you are so appreciated!
I would also like to express my gratitude to the entire team of world-class phenomenal doctors from Princess Margaret Hospital, who recently performed my surgery and wish them all the best in their professional and personal lives. I wish I could give them 10 stars!
Thank you the following amazing doctors:
Dr. David R. McCready - surgeon
Dr. Cathy Zhang
Dr. David Berger-Richardson
Dr. Lisa Ann Bahrey
and the entire team of those doctors whose names I don't remember, they were nothing short of fantastic.:)

Expanding and are upgrading. Needs plots of private donation to help funding this place. They have a good team of researchers and doctors helping cancer patients.

Amazing staff and very compassionate. They were very attendance and very helpful. The best hospital in the world I must say.
22 August 2019 15:42
PMH is good at self- promotion. Treatment of patients ranges from indifferent to almost hostile. Wait times in some clinics are endless. Staff in some clinics are pleasant; in others, they are downright rude. A lab rat would probably be treated with greater respect.
12 August 2019 20:43
They saved my life, and were some of the most amazing people I've ever known. Can't praise this facility enough.
29 July 2019 9:35
I’m very grateful for all the staff and especially
Dr. David C Hodgson, radiologist. My father finished his treatment today. I don’t have enough words that can explain how caring, easy to understand and knowledgeable. All the staff should receive awards, it’s amazing how well they treat their patients. Thank-you Dr. Hodgson and staff for everything you’ve done for him!

I went there for a biopsy for a nodule in my neck and they found out it was too big and I needed to reschedule because it might be cancer and they wanted to make sure it didn’t spread out. They told me to wait for a week to hear from doctor’s secretary to book me an appointment.
I waited and waited and waited. 2 weeks went by and NADA. So, I called a few times to follow up and secretary was either away on the days I called or she just didn’t pick it up. I left a voice message and finally got a hold of her.
The secretary asked where I got my ultrasound done. I told her I got it done somewhere else and I have the CD. She then asked me to bring it over to her.
I had the CD with me for 2 weeks! And no one told me I supposed to hand the CD to the doctor before making an appointment with them. The ultrasound office told me to bring it to my appointment (the appointment I never had since the secretary never called me).

I suffering with so much pain in my throat and mentally stressed for those weeks waiting for the secretary to give me a call.

DO NOT WAIT FOR HOSPITALS TO CALL YOU. IT MIGHT BE TOO LATE.

One of the worst experiences I had with Canadian health system. I am so disappointed. Maybe they are short staffed? If that's the case then it is time for them to start hiring more administrative assistants. I have been calling every time to follow-up as they never call me.

UPDATE: I left the CD with the ultrasound images a week ago, and I thought I would call today (a week later) to find out they didn't have the CD. They said they would look for it and give me a call back. I waited and waited. Again, I had to be the one calling as they didn't follow-up. I even left a message a week ago when I dropped off the CD at their office.

Dr. McCart saved my husbands life she is appsolutly amazing, I wish there were more doctors like her. Thank you for giving us more time, more memories. Not everyone is meant to be in health care but Dr. McCart is right where shes meant to be

I wish I could give no stars! Horrible hospital and horrible staff.especially the doctors! My wife has been being treated there for the last few months and we have begged, pleaded and fought for them to give us the proper information or even just say “I don’t know” if they don’t. Instead they continue to give up conflicting information, vague information, misinformation and out right lies. The best you can hope for in any medical situation is to make the best decision for you based upon all the information available. That didn’t happen. On top of this PMH has shown no respect for her at all. Not for her wishes, her dignity and especially not her time. We have yet to go to one single appointment where we have been seen on time! Not one! And don’t bother lodging a complaint to Patient Relations.they have no power at all! If I got cancer tomorrow I would take my chances at eating dirt to cure it before I would ever let the staff at PMH treat me!
04 July 2019 18:21
It seems impossible to make an appointment here. Nobody answers the phone, and when they do, and call gets disconnected, they don't call you back, so everything starts again.

Had to have skin cancer cut out of my neck, was a little painful. Doctors assistant told me too stop whining, one of the worst expériences of my life. Poor patients put into small waiting room with only each other too look at with pain on their face, treating people sick people like cattle. No compassion in staff, doctors, i believe they are taught too be cold, dont get emotionally attached.
13 March 2019 7:12
The doctor is very good. But it is hard to meet your doctor, usually the fellow or resident doctor handles everything. The management system has serious problems. For the chemo daycare treatment, we have been waiting for over 2 and half hour, the registration desk still told us” sorry, we have no control”, there is no clue how long we will wait. It is very unfair for the weak cancer patient. The THN’s goal says “put patience first “! This is far away to meet this goal! Management, please improve your system. At least, informs patients what is the progress and how long patients need to wait
20 January 2019 22:58
