Listen to the nurses talk about all the male nurses they have slept with and what paramedics they find hott all while I'm in extreme pain from my gallbladder rupturing but they brushed me off as if I was lying and that it was acid reflex. After 6.5 hours of waiting in a room feeling like I was dying doctor finally came and after I finally got pain relief and ultra sounds/x-rays I had to have surgery to have my gallbladder removed as it ruptured. Absolutely discusted with how they treated a patient and not once did they ask me if there was anyone they could call for me but instead told me I need to just be patient and relax. I was puking up stomach acid and asked for help but they said no not until doctor comes to check me. Completely mind blown how unprofessional and so inconsiderate hospital workers could be. I told them I had gallstones as soon as ambulance picked me up but they just kept asking me if I was sure I do and who even told me that and that they would be the ones to decide that. I was told by previous doctor to let hospital know i have them to help with faster care as it could be dangerous if a rupture ever happened.they couldn't of cared less and assumed I had no idea what I was talking about. I spent 6.5 hours of listening to my name get put to bottom of the pile and comments of I'm just over reacting to get help first.

Went in Saturday 730pm spend 1.5 hrs in triage. Another 5 hrs in waiting room, 5 hrs in room still no doctor, asked every hour on the hour how many more before doctor comes to the green 6 more nurse said at 230,330 asked again 6 more she stated finally 430 6 more she states I don't know why the doctor isn't in the green so the nurse said to me you don't have to stay you can go the nerve omg I couldn't even go to sleep had no pillow to lay my head on. Alway been the worst hospital since I was a young adult and still is.

Rating this a 2 star for 3 reasons.
1 - ICU deserve a 5 star for taking care of my Dad in his time of need. They made him and his family feel comfortable in the last hours up to the time of his death. I commend everyone in BGH ICU.
2. BGH has lost my Dad's belongings. We have called numerous times and even had a security dude say that he remembers locking my dads stuff up. 3 weeks later we have yet to recieve a phone call.
3. Parking fees are absolutley stupid. Worst I have seen in Ontario.

Used this hospital for many years and hasn't changed much. Long wait times and terrible staff and doctors. So glad my family moved to st thomas! What a great hosptial they have!
06 September 2023 9:51
Best service around in this area, sometimes wait times are bad and sometimes they are good but the staff do the best of care to their ability and try everyday to make sure everyone gets treated properly and effectively. Without all the staff of QHC, I wouldn’t be here today. Thank you
05 September 2023 19:11
I received excellent care here in the ER. I did not wait long, and the staff ran many tests to diagnose the issue. Zero complaints.
26 August 2023 14:14
Not taking patients seriously. I was waiting 4 hours then the doctor came and left within 1 minute by saying that he will come. No one came back. I got frustrated and leave the hospital
13 August 2023 22:42
2 days ago, I came and told them about my stomach pain, as Picton hospital sent me home with the ‘you’re fat just take Advil’ comment.
These AMAZING doctors and nurses took me seriously, and took me for tests after tests to make sure it was something before sending me home.

12 hours later, we find out it’s my appendix, and they took excellent care of me. I’m so pleased with how caring everyone was.
Thank you, you made my hospital stay more tolerable
28 May 2023 20:06
Worst medical center/ hospital experience i have experienced so far. Waited 9hours two days ago in a mainly empty emergency department, it was too chilly in that area, and then to have a 4min convo with the completely rude, dissmissive, and completely unprofessional doctor who just rushed off after a short time without looking at my concerns, and couldn't be bothered by seeing anyone. Would never reccomend that place to anyone. Look for a different hospital, you are better off.
20 May 2023 17:28
Surgeon and staff in pre op were fantastic and always reassuring! Afterwards waking up on 4th floor, was not always a good stay. Most of the nurses were a 5 forsure!
One typical RN ruined my stay on 4th. Everytime I got her, I would be upset and easily cried. I had to get out of there for my best recovery at home. (even though I could have maybe needed another day of care!)!
19 May 2023 17:46
Overnight emergency staff are completely Indifferent, and lean towards treating every patient like a drug seeking criminal. 4: 30 in the morning while patients are trying to sleep, nursing staff is yelling and laughing and carrying on with petty personal conversations. Would rather drive to another city. Would get seen quicker anyways.
16 May 2023 7:05
They try their best to get to the bottom of whatever is wrong with you or the person who is in need of help.

Last Thursday afternoon (May 4th), I suffered a stroke and I would love to thank the following and absolutely amazing people who were sooo awesome in my getting back to almost 100%.

First, my neighbour, Brian, who came to my aid in about 2 minutes and knew the signs of a stroke and called 911 immediately. Thank you to the wonderful and calm Brian and 911 operator. And to Cec who waited for the ambulance and escorted them to me.

To the EMS staff (2 ladies and a gentleman - sorry don’t know names) who got to my home so quickly and were so professional and totally amazing and took awesome care of me so quickly and efficiently.

Then to all the wonderful, kind, and fabulous staff (Doctors & nurses) in Emergency at Belleville Hospital who from the moment the ambulance doors opened, took over my care and were amazing. Sorry I can’t remember names, but you know who you are.

And then to the wonderful, friendly and fabulous staff in the Stroke Unit - Dr. Robertson, Joyce (Head Charge Nurse), RPN’s, (Monique, and others - sorry forgot others names), PSW’s, my Physio & Occupational Therapist, cleaning staff and volunteers for their absolute wonderful caring and o patient dispositions - not just to me but to everyone on our unit. And to all the patients who I met who were amazing and who we had a lot of laughs with once we were at that stage.

And to my friends who looked after TJ, my Westie, for me. I can’t thank you enough.

And to all my family and friends who visited and phoned and messaged and were/are there for me. And my friends who sent me distance Reiki. ️

I am soooo appreciative of everyone. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! ️️. It takes a village and it certainly did this time for me.

I hear so much negativity about our Health Care system, so I wanted to share this positive experience. It is a very scary time when something like this happens. If it wasn’t for me knowing something was not right in my body, and ALL of the above people, I would not be home and as well as I am.

CALL 911 if you don’t feel yourself. DON’T wait. The faster we get to the hospital, the better off we could possibly be.
07 May 2023 21:18
I have been to a few emergency rooms over the years. The emergency staff were amazing to me. Ppl complained about Belleville, well go wait in Oshawa hospital for 12+ hrs and tell me how that was. Belleville is leaps and bounds better. To all the nurses and doctors.thank u for what u do.
22 April 2023 6:41
My partner was in there for over a month on the 5th floor and his care was terrible. He would ring his buzzer for help and he was ignored always. He wad told "if you ring that again im gonna wrap that cord around your neck" or if he asked about his vitals if they were normal he was told to"shutup". Also a PSW messed up his cpap machine and 2 nurses had to grt it working again. He was not happy there
14 April 2023 1:00
The nurses and doctors in this hospital are kind, caring and sweet. They made our stay very much worthwhile. We need many more doctors at the hospital to meet the needs of this growing community. The doctor on call was run ragged. This is absolutely unacceptable. Thanks go out to the staffing. You people are amazing ️?
01 April 2023 4:13
Although the hospital is great the parking is atrocious. I had a broken leg and several appointments at the fracture clinic. My wife would drop me off at the door and then have to circle the parking lot for 20 minutes or more to find a spot. The lot is gated but will let you in even if it’s full and make you pay to go elsewhere. The hospital needs to invest in more parking especially for patients who come from out of town and public transit is not an option

Being from Toronto, my expectations for the ER dept were quite low. Surprisingly everyone I interacted with at the hospital was kind and compassionate. One of the administrative employees even offered patients warm blankets and water while in the waiting room. The process seemed very organized and streamlined from triage to the visit with the physician. My wait was only 5 hours which is very good considering average wait times in Toronto are 9+ hours. Dr. Devins was the attending physician and I really appreciated him taking his time to explain everything to me thoroughly - he certainly has excellent patient-centered care and compassion which I find is rare for ER physicians. I highly recommend this hospital and the doctor.

My Mom was in BGH for several months last summer. The nursing staff were great - unless you had a question and had to approach the desk - then forget about it - they were so unapproachable. The food - UGHH. The parking price? OK but trying to get in and out of the lot is a NIGHTMARE. Why? Fix the machines or let us park for free. The discharge process? Let's send a woman home who cannot even walk so her senior citizen children can carry her up the stairs and into her home. I hope I don't live long enough to end up here.
16 January 2023 14:38
Very caring and hardworking staff and doctors. Unfortunately the night shift Emergency room is very low on doctors, so many people with low priority problems will wait a very long time
06 January 2023 4:05
One stars don’t ever go to this hospital it’s a joke you’ll be waiting over 12hours for your 3month old to see a doctor or to even get in a room I highly don’t recommend ever coming to this hospital!

I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit this hospital. My father was admitted with covid. He had his clothes, snacks, phone and dentures with him. After he got intubated, all his personal belongings were lost/stolen. He was transferred to Kingston Hospital and the staff there say they did not receive any of his personal belongings. My father was intubated and unconscious. We weren't allowed to visit him at Belleville hospital. He passed away in Kingston Hospital in May. Until now, Belleville can't even locate one item. Nurse Samantha at Belleville hospital was holding my father's phone so we can talk to him before he got intubated, and now Belleville says that staff don't recall that there was a phone, although we called my dad several times before he got intubated and the nurses helped him hold the phone. They are hiding the truth which seems very suspicious, and I definitely conclude that all my father's belongings were stolen at Belleville hospital and no one will do anything about it, so be aware. If you have an intubated or unconscious patient, make sure to keep his personal belongings with you until he gets better. We had the worst experience ever. They will give you tons of excuses and lies.
04 November 2022 9:42
The team was so friendly and paid attention to my concerns and made sure that I got the care I needed! They were patient and understanding and very gently! My nurse Courtney put in the gentlest IV I have ever been given! Kudos to the team!
15 October 2022 16:32
Hospital staff was nice enough, but the evening / early morning atmosphere of the ER is dark, drab and depressing. I understand that it’s “quiet time” but the place should at least look like it’s open.
21 September 2022 15:42
Just recently had to spend the day in emergency. I understand the wait times but I really really don't understand why you have to pay $4 per hour for parking or any money for parking for that matter. You are there because you are sick or something is broken etc, so why do you have to worry about running out to put $ in meter or get ticketed?
17 September 2022 19:36
Stay Far Away From This Place. They do not care about the youth. All the care about is collecting a pay cheque at the end of the week.
07 September 2022 18:24
Wait was really long and once I got in to actually see a doctor they forgot me. Had to wait almost 3 hours to see a doctor and that was after sitting in the waiting room for 5 hours.
Saw the doctor and she made a mistake and gave me a prescription but it didn't cover both types of infection I had. My doctors in Kingston caught it and called in another prescription for me.
Go to Kingston if you have the time. Better doctors there.
19 August 2022 13:13
Came in for a CT scan at 12 30pm. It's now 5 pm. The results are ready but no one can spare 5 mins to tell me if I have a concussion or not. I want to sleep I've been awake for over 24 hours.
01 August 2022 17:42
I found this hospital SO CONFUSING! Even though I was given directions on how to get to my department for my scheduled test, I had to ask at least twice. And once I got to the door, I was like: "Really, this is it? " Felt like I should get a prize for finding it!
Then finding my way out was even worse! How can there not be signs for parking or entrance or something?
I did find the care very good, so that's something.

I arrived on a Friday evening around 5: 30 PM. I had to go to emergency because I slipped and injured my knee and I was worried about a fracture or torn ligament. I waited five hours to be seen by the ER doctor. She examined my knee and sent me for an x-ray, but said that they could not do an ultrasound in the hospital for some reason. So there was no way to assess for soft tissue injury.
She removed the bandage on my knee and then a porter came to take me to x-ray, I asked that they have someone come cover the wound before I go to x-ray and I had to ask multiple times and then finally a nurse came out with no gloves on and sour attitude and did not even clean my wound- even though the ER doctor said that I was going to have it cleaned. All she did was put some sort of Polysporin mesh and gauze on the wound, with a sour attitude and without even cleaning the wound with some sort of antiseptic. I had the x-ray done and we had to wait quite some time for a porter to bring me back to the emergency. Where the doctor told me that there was no fracture and sent me home. The doctor did not provide me the information on how to obtain the outpatient ultrasound so I’m just gonna ask my own doctor to send me for one. Basically this was a waste of time, I could’ve just stayed at home and rested and gone for an x-ray through my family doctor. I was concerned that my knee was broken but I guess better safe than sorry. The hospital is empty but there was a five hour wait in the emerg. I think they only had one doctor on staff.

My father was a pateint in end of life care with stage 4 cancer.
During his stay in the Belleville general hospital we decided hospice would be a better fit for end of life care.

For my father to be transported from the hospital to the hospice center we had to arrange for a morphine cad pump to be ordered in as he could not take the Quinte Health care hospital property to hospice care.

Thursdays my father was transported to hospice where we realized this critical item was not hook to him as previous arranged by family doctor and nurses in his care plan.

This is where I began to look at my cell phone where I had multiple calls from QHC frantically asking me to come back and pick up the pump and for my father. It was not hook to him like originally ordered by his doctor

I drove at an incredible rate of speed to get back to the hospital to try and get my father this pump because I knew he was at the end of life and needed this relief of medication in this assisted device.

When I entered the local general hospital's care floor I was told that this pump was missing and that they had no accountability for it and that it was the 2nd one in a month this pump not only contained a machine but it contained a very expensive bottle of morphine

But it gets better when community care access and ontario medical supply asks Qhc sils 4, what the procedure and lock up method for this was? Their wasnt a protocal, it was just sitting out beside an end of life patient who couldn't even move!

No lock and key or signage was require.

Real protection for the patient at end of life.

The hospital now a 8 days later still does not have any answer as to where the item went.

Police have interview all staff working that day in care of my father with yet any answers to his family.

There has now been a police investigation launched into this as this has been the 2nd one in a month on the 4th floor in the hospital unit at our local general hospital

My father passed less then 16 hours later in increible amounts of pain where he never received his pump as agreed upon. It is still to this day unaccounted for.

We have confirmed with both the pharmacy and the medical delivery team that these supplies were in fact delivered to my father my mother seen these boxes sitting next to my father sealed closed.

When I arrived to pick them up they were opened with items missing.

What do I do here? Hospital refuses to release incident reports or our fathers medical files without a court order of supena.

This incident happenend at Belleville General Hospital May 26th 2022 between 1: 45 pm and 2: 20.

Terrible healthcare service. Waited more than 7 hours to meet the doctor and once he came he don’t want to listen patients details. He just rushed without giving full medical prescription.
15 June 2022 12:48
Wish I could go below 1. The triage nurse last night is in the wrong profession. She should be ashamed of herself. If you hate your job then leave. A disgrace to Quinte Health Care.

I have had approx 6 dealings with BGH over the last few years. The common denominator here is that there is a proud culture of caring, empathetic, organized and well trained staff. Speaking specifically (anyway) to the admitting personnel at Sills on over to the day Surgery folks- both mine and my wife's experiences were nothing short of stellar! You are not just a number at BGH. The human caring element is prevalent with all staff! Even with the pandemic, navigation thru the added procedures was very easy. Cleanliness was not a worry and I have zero concerns about exposure. I can say I would go out of my way to attend this hospital based on my (and my wife's) experiences.
31 May 2022 16:57
I had a day surgery here yesterday. It’s my first time having a procedure done here in Canada and the hospitalization culture is extremely different from where I came from. The whole crew was beyond helpful and took great care of me. The surgeon (Dr. Turvey), the anesthesiologist (Dr. John—I didn’t get his surname), and the rest of the staff (from pre-op, the OR nurses especially Ms. Denise who took care of me the whole time and her “trainee”, as well as Ms. Linda from the room where I waited to be picked up) —they all made me feel comfortable and did impeccable job to calm my nerves. I can’t say enough good things about them!

If ever you read this, you people rock! Thank you for bringing positive impact to the community!

I have to say I was so so happy with the Belleville General Hospital.
I have never been to a hospital where I was treated so well. Everyone was so professional and friendly.
I love how they call you by your first name. It really makes you feel important and and relaxed.
Thank you everyone for such a great experience.
You are absolutely amazing.
Keep up the great work.
Many thanks

I'd like to thank all the staff for the excellent care I recently received. For those wondering, yes this is a busy hospital and I'm sure they'd love to have more staff and shorter wait times. However, they're facing the same challenges with Covid staffing as everywhere else. Despite covid challenges everyone that was involved in looking after me did so with a caring, positive and friendly attitude. Thanks again for everything you do each and every day.

I want to thank the Security Guard that saved my husband on Mar 28/22. My husband was on his way to the elevator and had a heart attack the Security Guard noticed and immediately got a wheelchair and got him to the emergency department real fast. That shows how important they are at the hospital, and many many thanks to all staff as my husband is doing ok.
02 May 2022 16:24
Delivered my first baby here last year in August and the staff in the maternity ward were AMAZING. I cannot thank them enough for their kind and caring level of care. And I genuinely look forward to seeing them again in October for our second.

On the other hand, my 8 month old I delivered then, is now is very sick and we took him into the emergency room almost 5 hours ago now. This is not a new issue, BGH has been so unbelievably awful with their wait times way before the Covid-19 pandemic. Why we chose to bring him here today I don’t know. I highly recommend going to the Picton or Trenton emerge room as an alternative. At least if they transfer you you’ll be admitted immediately.

Signed a very tired and very sick little boy.
25 April 2022 3:51
They have signs posted to tell a nurse if you're leaving while waiting. 3+ hours in and I decide to tell a nurse I'm leaving, I then get berated for not knowing id be waiting this long, and how they get a penalty for every person who doesn't see a doctor.excuse me but that isn't my problem. Learn to be professional, I was just trying to be nice.
14 April 2022 7:07
I use the crisis center to call and talk to someone every time I do there's so much back ground noise. Dogs, people talking or door bells.
It no longer makes me comfortable to talk to someone.it never used to be like this.
