Thank you to the staff member who came to take our order and upon hearing I am Celiac recommended a dish for me that he would personally cook safely for me.chicken, mango, cashew, vegetable and rice dish free of gluten. It was delicious!
Today I had lunch at Red Basil Vietnamese Restaurant; first impression was the setting and music ambiance was nice clean and relaxing. The server I had was very welcoming and attentive. My food came out in great timing, and was brought out to me by the chef which was the nicest lady, because she said I hope you enjoy the meal with the nicest smile. On to the food! I got the beef noodle soup, with crispy vegetarian spring rolls. The pho here is very deep in flavour and delicious. I noticed they use a thicker noodle than traditionally used, but they were cooked perfectly and it was delicious. The spring rolls were good, but I would recommend asking for the peanut sauce instead of the one they serve if your not allergic. All in all, I recommend Trying this place out.
My sister recommended this place as she ate there 2 weeks ago and liked it. We ordered take out last night as the snow storm was coming in, for 3 people. We ordered #3,2x #27, and #35c for $56 and we picked up the order ourselves.
The take out portions were much smaller than expected and very small compared to other places! Immediately taking it out of the bag, the pho broth bowl (#27) wasn't filled up (approx. 50% of the bowl), and the noodles were in a small take out container. They gave a small bag of bean sprouts, a small wedge of lime and 4 sprigs of mint. There wasn't any culantro provided. They gave a very small container filled with less than a 1/4 of sriracha and Hosein sauce. Broth was rated 6.5/10 by the two household members that ate it.
#35c was the Korean short ribs on rice, with a shrimp skewer and "salad". This was packed in a large square box, however the portion was small for the rice and salad. The "salad" was just iceberg lettuce so pretty disappointing. It also seemed a bit old/left out as it was turning brown around the edges, therefore I barely ate it. The short ribs were tasty (approx. 4 pieces) and I added chili oil to my rice as I was supposed to have scallion infused oil drizzled on the food, but that lacked as well.
Order #3 was another disappointment! It was an order of 2 fresh spring rolls and advertised to have shrimp, pork, vermicelli, lettuce, bean sprouts, and mint wrapped in rice paper. Lo and behold, the rolls only had shrimp and iceberg lettuce! My sister was the only one who ate this and she said it was completely different than her previous order 2 weeks ago! The fact that it is advertised to have 6 items in the roll but only offer 2 and one item was substituted is disappointing. This order was definitely a rip off.
Overall not an amazing first time order for myself and hubby. Not sure if it was because of the weather? Either way we are unsure if we would ever order from there again or if we would dine in to give them a second chance to redeem themselves. Its a shame as it is less than 5 mins from our house. Most likely we will be venturing to Kitchener again to Pho Dau Bo or other places that offer what they advertise.
Not the same. Service was very slow. I did not receive one of the items that I ordered. Had to ask for glasses for our drinks. Had to ask for the bill. No one came to see if we needed anything or if our food was alright. Menu is only half of what it used to be. What happened? This place used to be fantastic.
This family owned buisness is plesant and comfy. The mango salad is the best in the city. The presentation and price point you cant go wrong. Order the Shirley Temple, you wont be dissapointed:)
Duck (orange ginger) is the star at this restaurant. Very crispy and very tasty. Price is good for what you get. Not really authentic Vietnamese for some items but a good selection.
Prices are fantastic and the menu is quite large with a lot of options. Always enjoy visiting Red Basil each time I go downtown. The atmosphere is a little 90's, but it makes it feel somewhat nostalgic. Staff were very friendly and a joy to talk to.
My first time trying Red Basil tonight and all I can say is WOW. So much flavour. Quality is top notch. I'm annoyed with myself for going to Ben than for all these years and not knowing about Red Basil.
Ordered pad Thai and not the greatest I've tasted. Asked for spicy- not spicy. No lime wedge added. The vegetarian wraps were okay, but the sauce was weak and tasteless. My partner got pho and also commented it wasn't that great either. The best part of this experience was the price.
Ordered for delivery today. Food arrived still hot and and well packed. Delivery person was friendly. Food was delicious, my wife and were completely satisfied. Portions were generous.
A very busy place. The food and drinks are great. However the service is a problem. Those who are serving try very hard but between serving tables, take out service, and running food to the kitchen there are just not enough servers so you are left waiting often.
My family and I went here for a nice Mother's Day dinner, and Red Basil really impressed me! The servers were so nice, and they weren't shy to help us. All of the employees who came out into the dining area helped us with our experience. The person at the front counter, checking people in and giving out people's take-out orders was very generous, and I heard her giving various people free pieces of food due to the wait (it was busy, but that's okay!). So, customer service is a huge, huge checkmark. Now, to the food. Oh my gosh, if you go here, please try the crispy duck! It was DELICIOUS! We got the orange sauce, and my brother, who hates trying new things, fell in love with it! It was like a fruity, pineapple-y sauce, so very tropical and had a sweet and tangy kick to it. The shrimps are amazing, chicken will never fail you here, and the vegetables were also done properly. I would recommend coming here, for sure!
Second time dong Uber Eats Delivery. For $30, I received 4 small spring rolls, Coconut Sticky rice which was not even eatable because it was so thick and really tasteless. The mango salad well good, was just that, a mango and a couple slices of red pepper and onion for $9.00.hmm Mangos $1 at the grocery store. Flavour was good on the salad and spring rolls delicious but I have to to give it two stars overall. I will try again but pickup because delivery service is a rip off.
Went here because they were supposedly rated 4.5 stars, but honestly, they shouldn't even have 1 star. Their dine-in service was closed due to COVID, so we were seated outside on plastic wobbly tables. Our table had a big splatter of dried bird poop and we were stuck waiting for more than 10 minutes for the server to bring us chairs from the restaurant. We were seated with lawn chairs and served with plastic containers/cutlery for our food. Flies and bees kept surrounding our food and we were constantly waving our arms to get rid of the flies. I kept getting up from the table because of the bees.
Consistently good, delicious food. I've been coming here for years and the quality has never wavered. Probably my highest recommended place in the area for Vietnamese food.
The menu is huge, not sure how they manage to keep up and still have such amazing food. The coconut shrimp here is the best I have ever had. This is easily my go-to place for Vietnamese food.
Best Vietnamese cuisine in town. Unique dishes that you won't find at typical Pho restaurants; like the crispy roast duck. The pho broth is also made from scratch. Other traditional dishes like lemon grass chicken is presented in different ways than traditional Vietnamese restaurants.
Our first experience ordering from Red Basil. We were very happy with our order. Fast Service. Delicious Food. Fresh Ingredients. Generous Portions. Friendly Staff. Oh! And the Imperial Spring Rolls are on point! Kudos to you, Red Basil!
Red Basil has some great food and the crispy duck is a local favourite. I can't judge the authenticity of the Vietnamese and Thai cooking but the general run of other dishes is definitely worth a try.
I'm glad to see covid hasn't destroyed my favorite Thai place. Anytime I come back to town for a visit, I always make sure to eat here as often as I can
This is really good Vietnamese food. Just moved here a while back from Toronto and I haven't tried any Vietnamese food since cause I just didn't think it would compare. Glad this was my first try! Delicious crispy chicken, flavourful lemongrass chicken and their Singapore style noodles were SO flavourful! We will be ordering again.
We ordered food from this restaurant a couple of weeks ago. The food was amazing but the service was dangerous! There was absolutely no social distancing possible. The tiny waiting area was packed with customers, and the staff made no effort to regulate the number of people in the store. We will not get food from there again.
I'm not sure what happened to the food. I use to love it but now it's not great at all. Spent 50 bucks and was very disappointed in everything will not order here again
Portion sizes are great and so are the flavours. Prices are super reasonable making this a great place for a cheap date. I would stay away from squid items however. I like squid however personally I find the squid hear not only chewy but also a bit "fishy" tasting. All the other seafood items are awsome.
Excellent food in the heart of downtown Galt. They are very reasonably priced and have never disappointed. Their lunch options are fantastic and service is good.
Everything was delicious, spring rolls and coconut shrimp especially. Only gave 4 stars because the calamari in my pork and seafood soup was a bit rubbery. Otherwise was great.
When i am in the area we often eat here for lunch over the years. They have nice Pho, their Duck is tasty and crispy, Mango chicken is nice. Really almost anything I've tried has been good. Service and prices are good
Unbelievable food and service, and the prices are quite reasonable. All the other customers we encounter there agree this is an affordable gourmet experience in a friendly atmosphere. When we travel 2 hours to Cambridge for antiques we always include a dinner at Red Basil.
Not only are the fresh rolls delicous. But the duck is outstanding. This is a restaurant you must stop at. If your visiting Galt in cambridge. Simply delicious
My boyfriend and I came here twice and 3 out of our 4 meals have been horrible. I ordered the Pad Thai and Tofu with Mixed Vegetables with a Bubble Tea and he ordered Fried Noodles with Mixed Vegetables.
The pad thai was just a big pile of noodles, drowned in an overly sweet sauce. The menu stated that it came with onions, carrots, and peppers but it was mostly just shredded carrots and a couple pieces of overcooked peppers. I had to pay extra for protein (tofu) which was also drowned in the same sweet sauce as the noodles.
The rice in my other tofu dish was dry and was covered in the same sauce as my pad thai. My boyfriend's dish was not flavourful at all. The tapioca in the bubble tea was also grainy and tasted cheap.
It seems like the owners care more about making money than perfecting the quality of their food. Although portions are hefty, the ratio of ingredients in the meals is way off and the flavours are lacking. We will definitely not be coming back.
Great food. It'd be a 5 star rating but they've been inconsistent on their take out serving sizes. The last time was a healthy serving like we are used to getting
Had the vermicelli bowl and the food was delicious. Took a second order of crispy duck and it was even better. First time I've had Vietnamese here but it definitely won't be my last. My new favourite Vietnamese restaurant!
Great food, never a disappointment when looking for a perfect amount of food. Always tasty and filling! Never rude customers or staff. Amazing place to go if your hungry.
This is 49C. Chicken with noodles and veggies. Highly suggest!
Very good food. Service was a bit disappointing as we felt it was a bit rushed and didn't took the appropriate time to explain the menu as first time visitors. I have not come back since then. Service matters.
Been going here for years and have always enjoyed the crispy roast duck lunch special. Recently tried their pho and discovered how delicious and affordable it is too!
