Horrible place took my deposit wouldn't return it 6 months ahead of date. Does not compromise and doesn't try and work with their customers. Place should be shut down or charged for taking people's deposit with out signing anything. The prices after I gave the deposit were outrageous then I lost my job and asked for deposit back and Nadia came up with every excuse. Do not spend your money here or give deposit

The place is very old. Plus she only accepts cash at the bar, vary inconvenient, bathroom is very dingy. This place needs a make over. The only thing good was the food.

I did not have my party here but would not recommend doing business as I canceled my party 4 weeks before and was told I will not receive any of my deposit back. Which was never stated in any email conversation. Or on the website. They also charge for everything and you are forced to use their catering and pay extra for certain meals even though there was nothing special about the meals and the menu doesn't say anything about extra amounts for different catering. The space is much smaller than event capacity claimed.

One of the worst places to celebrate occasions. No matter how much you pay per plate and book for 30 or 50 people.only one grumpy lady will server the food and spoil / embarrass your whole event.

Horrible service provided.
No glasses kept on table and food delayed because they want to take payment in advance.
The east European looking Manager wants payment in advance to even serve food. Forget about food. Not even plain glasses for drinking water. We had to bring our own glasses to drink. As if all the glasses will break and their business will suffer a huge loss.

Red Spoon is the venue my husband and I chose to celebrate our baby shower. Nadia was very understanding and accomodating; a pleasure to work with from the initial inquiry and planning stages to the day of our event. Though we had brought in our own food, we still opted for Red Spoon Italian catering for variety which was a hit. We all especially loved the Pasta Rosé and Chicken Parmesan. The venue is already nicely decorated and has a nice and comfortable intimate feel to it. The sound system with an AUX cord was free to use for music and it was a nice touch to have an adapter provided for iPhone. They do provide an upgraded sound system for a small fee should you need it. Overall, we all had a great time at Red Spoon - highly recommended as an affordable venue for any celebration!

Both my wife and I had a great experience hosting a wedding event here at The Red Spoon. Nadia did a great job accommodating all of our requests and ensured that our wedding event was a great experience. My guests really loved the chicken parm and pasta dishes; they were very delicious. The service was fantastic and our host ensured that our event was great from start to finish.

Overall, hosting events at the Red Spoon is budget friendly, Italian dishes are delicious and the service is fantastic; thank you Nadia.

Horrible experience booking with this place. They are extremely difficult to work with. There is alot if junk everywhere that they simply don't want to move for yur EVENT.owner NADIA says they have no storage. They charge u extra for every single thing. Even to use their garbage bin. Watch out the Deposit that they pressure you to pay to hold a spot is non refundable and they DO NOT MENTION THIS! When u book your time if u are not using their decorations team u have to decorate and clean up with booked time. Owner seems money hungry (just my opinion) always changes her story to suit the moment.

I would give it 0 stars. I’m not sure how people get married here. There’s so much random clutter all over the place - even in the washroom. If you like the hoarder type of vibe I would choose this place. Dingy, small, weird smell.

I chose this place because it was slim pickings during covid. I have a deposit of $200 there that I cannot use because they still have covid restrictions - which is fine of course - but the owner Nadia is being so unreasonable - she won’t let us change the date to accommodate our party size AND didn’t give us enough notice to tell everyone that we invited that we basically have to cancel our event. Ontario has been in this stage for well over a month now which she should have given us this notice way before hand or atleast accommodate to reschedule our event.

Anyways Nadia, you can keep my $200. Use it to clean the place up a bit and buy yourself some compassion and class. Take it as a donation since you probably need it more than I do.

We held our wedding there. Nadia was super understanding and a joy to work with. The venue was gorgeous and the food was delicious.

My family & I celebrated my sister's baby shower here & all our guests had such a great time. The venue was spacious (we had about 45 guests) and the food was delicious for a great price! (we ordered from the Italian menu) Nadia is so polite, friendly and always has a welcoming smile. My family & I will definitely keep the Red Spoon in mind for any other future events. Thank you.

We held our wedding reception here back in September of 2019. We chose this location on account of the size (our party was a smaller one), the size of our budget, the menu choices available and other choices that were made available to us.

When the big day arrived, we thought we had everything covered and looked after. Unfortunately, disaster struck and due to an ill-timed accident, the gas for the entire area was shut off, and this caused a big problem for the Red Spoon. More about this later.

The hall was decorated as promised, we were allowed to come an hour early to add some last-minute decorations of our own and this was appreciated.

Due to the Red Spoon's liquor license, we were able to contain costs by supplying our own wine for a reasonable corkage fee. For us, this was a good option and on top of this, the Red Spoon offered unlimited soft drinks for a reasonable fee, and this was utilized by our under-aged and non-drinking guests.

When my wife and I arrived, we were completely dismayed to learn that our guests, who had arrived ahead of us, had not been served a single thing.not even water, because the bill had not been fully paid in advance. Perhaps this was mentioned to us or disclosed in the contract we signed, and if this was so, there was absolutely NO follow up by the Red Spoon for payment to avoid this situation.

Soon after we paid our bill, we were informed that the restaurant was without gas and that it was impossible to cook the dinner for which we had just paid. Nadia, our host, was very sorry for this disastrous turn of events and was constantly on the phone with the gas company. She told us that she was hopeful that gas would be restored soon, so we chose to work with her. Unfortunately, there was absolutely NO back up plan in place. We asked about ordering pizza and we were informed by Nadia that nothing around the restaurant was open. She was also unwilling to take any kind of steps to rectify this situation, and we were reminded several times that she was not making much money from our event. After several hours of holding our guests without dinner, my wife and I decided to order pizza from a large chain, who happily delivered to the restaurant.

At the end of the evening, our Nadia told us that she was unwilling to pay for the pizza we ordered because in her opinion, we ordered too much. She did contribute a portion of the cost of the pizza and she did credit us for items we did not use.

Nobody can really predict that a massive gas outage can occur and it truly was unfortunate that this happened when it did. But in the hospitality business, it has been my experience that the host does everything possible to make the guest feel looked after. We felt that we were the ones fighting for our guests and if it wasn't for the steps we took, our guests would have left with only eaten hors d'oeuvres and wine.

So unfortunately for the Red Spoon, we will not return and we will not recommend this establishment. We do believe that Nadia was sympathetic, the gas outage was totally not her fault, she honoured her financial commitments but she certainly did not look after our guests.

I hosted a surprise birthday party at the Red Spoon. From the initial planning stages to the very end Nadia was amazing to work with. She responded to my questions promptly and did everything she could to make the evening memorable. The decor was great. The food was delicious! I would highly recommend the Red Spoon Restaurant.

We recently rented the restaurant for my gp's father's birthday. Nadia was a great host, she was very helpful throughout the event. When I heard that the menu was Filipino food, I didn't know what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised. The lumpia and menudo were delicious. Thank you again!

This place is cool! If you have an event coming up try this place, it's affordable, no hassle of hidden payments and friendly staff.

Nadia did amazing job with the venue for our wedding, the setup was beautiful. Her staff were extremely professional and helpful, and the food was delicious. She listened to our requests to fit the venue / food to our ceremony and religious beliefs, and we couldn't be more grateful. Thank you for helping make our day so special:)

Just had my wedding here yesterday and everything was phenomenal. From the food to the setup and the server were absolutely amazing. The price is incredibly affordable and is nothing compared to the amazing service that you get. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a venue to host their event!

P. S. The owner Nadia is extremely friendly, helpful and flexible in terms of dietary needs.

My bridal shower was held here in May and it was wonderful, that was mostly because I have a great group of family & friends who made the day special. We paid to rent chair covers and sashes from the venue and when we arrived we had to put them on ourselves. I thought since we were paying for them, they would be on the chairs for us when we arrived, but maybe since everything added is extra I should have asked about it. When I asked to warm our food in the oven I was accused of not paying the fee for it but I already did in advance. Lastly, we felt rushed at the end and were locked out before our booked time was even up. I just wanted to share my experience so people booking in the future are aware of what to expect. Overall, you really can transform the space into something beautiful if you do not mind doing the assembly and take down yourself, and the price to rent the space is quite reasonable compared to other places.

We held our bridal shower at Red Spoon earlier in the month. We arrive at the venue an hour before to set up and the moment we pull into the lot the first thing we see is a smashed window right beside the entrance door. It has been very poorly covered up with signs saying “emergency” and “don’t touch”, needless to say we were not impressed – it looked horrible. We asked when it happened expecting to hear it was recent only to have her tell us it was 10 days ago. I expressed my displeasure with the fact that she never thought it necessary to let me know as this looks so horrible and our guests are going to wonder what kind of place we have invited them too and if we knew about this we would have brought something to cover it up, so my fiancé spent about 30 minutes standing outside on a ladder covering it up with a table cloth. On to the next problem; she had only one small bottle of champagne there. We only brought one (as previously discussed with her) and she had one little bottle we could purchase and claimed that it had slipped her mind that I told her we would need to purchase more from her. Now here’s the kicker – she had a small bottle of Asti and told me we could buy it for $57. That’s interesting since she told me she sold the large 1.5L bottle for $38, needless to say I declined considering that same bottle cost less than $20 at the LCBO. So now 2 people have left the set up to drive to the LCBO to buy more champagne. As an apology for this and the broken window she gave us a curtain to hang on a wall free of charge (something she normally rents out for $60 she had to let us know) I promise no one noticed whether it was there or not, but I guess it’s the thought that counts. Now the deal with the alcohol is she has to open the bottles, we are not allowed which is fine. She opens the first bottle and the cork goes flying into the crowd of people almost hitting someone, a few people scream, everyone holds their breath, we giggle and move on. Some time later she opens the second bottle. Same thing! Cork goes flying nearly hitting people AGAIN. Now my 2 year old niece is walking around this place and my 90 year old grandmother in a wheelchair is here, it was lucky that no one was hurt. My question is how? She was standing behind the bar opening the bottles so are you pointing them at people and hoping for the best? I don’t understand – and if you can’t control where it goes, step into the backroom, open it, and come back. Unbelievable. So unprofessional for a business. She told us there was a stereo we could use, we could plug phones in or use the radio. Well it was garbage, nothing worked and you couldn’t change the station so what was playing was either not in English or static. She also told us we could use the fridge that was out there and put drinks in it for people but when we arrived there was a sign on it saying “don’t open”. Someone asked her for water and she was very rude and responded by saying “I don’t serve you”. I understand that we didn’t pay for service or a bartender, but then make yourself invisible because you are standing there behind the bar looking like you work there and people are confused. I also paid for coffee and tea which wasn’t made, it took 3 of us asking for it for her to finally get it ready. Someone asked for coffee and she said, again “I don’t serve you”…. So I said “Ok but we paid for coffee”, then she explains how she doesn’t serve us she makes the urn of coffee and puts it out and we pour ourselves to which my friend replies “That’s great, so are you going to do it? ”. We understand that we are just getting a pot on the bar and we are pouring ourselves but tell me why almost an hour into my event the coffee still isn’t there and when asked she was extremely rude? This was something I paid for in advance, I shouldn’t have had to ask for it, it should have been ready, but instead it took being asked 3 times and her being rude.
A lot of tables were wobbly so we had to be careful with what we put on them and she told us it was an extra charge for others.

Very unprofessional. Have been communicating back and forth for 2 days with nadia, at 3: 00 was told to come in at 7: 30 to give my deposit, had messaged back saying I would send it now threw e transfer if she could send me some sort of contract or agreement and I hear nothing back until 10pm saying she booked with someone else. I am outraged and shocked that someone running a buisness can be so unprofessional. It really isnt right.and after reading the reviews quiet a few people have said she has done the same thing to them.unbelievable!

Rented this place for an event nice professional owner however, after Arriving I noticed majority of the floor was being used as storage very unslightly and it doesnt show in the images that are posted online. Owner informed me that I was not able to stack ttables or chairs so I was not able to maximumize the space the way I wanted to.

It was a pleasure planning my event with the host, Nadia. She made the entire event completely painless: her communication was timely, her prices were transparent, and she was incredibly helpful throughout the duration of the event as well. The food was plentiful and great for the priced (Italian menu) and the drinks were extremely affordable. I definitely recommend Red Spoon restaurant to anyone who wants a flexible venue that only charges you for what you need. The level of customization is perfect for events small or large - I myself had 50 people and the venue accommodated everyone perfectly.

I was here for an event about a month ago. We arrived on time, yet the decorations weren't completed yet. Early comers were helping out with them, and the hosts were working on the food, not any caterers or staff members. It took about an hour just for anyone at a table to receive any water to drink, and everyone's formal wear wound up smelling of deep fryer oil. At the end of the night, bad coffee was served in Styrofoam cups.

The kitchen seems small and poorly ventilated, and it looks like a mom and pop style restaurant. What I can say is with two people serving 40 people, that evening it was very understaffed and did not run like a well oiled machine at all, and there wasn't enough food. The food, by the time it was served, had cooled since being reheated and the service was inefficient and slow.

EDIT: WOW, I just went to the website and saw that this place is advertised as a banquet hall and what we were served is part of their catering menu, in "buffet style" as we had received. I'm completely shocked. I was trying to offer understanding and empathy for being poorly equipped to manage an occasion like the one I had attended, but the fact that this is their actual business kind of disgusts me. At best, this place is poorly managed.

The temperature was also FREEZING inside. We had people in shoulderless knee length dresses and seniors who dressed for the seasonal weather, but everyone at my table was very cold. I was enthusiastic to be the first to leave.

The upside is the location is right off the highway and there's ample parking, but it's not a scenic it pretty location by any means. I can only hope it was very budget friendly.

Do not use this place for any event. The host is very strict and will charge for everything including the smallest detail such as garbage bags. The rental price for the location is just for entrance to the building you will have to pay for everything else. I dont mind the charges but be upfront and reasonable. The host will not allow anyone in the kitchen except themselves. Making it difficult to bring out any food stored in the kitchen. I could never recommend this place for any event. STAY FAR AWAY.

I held a 10th wedding anniversary at the Red Spoon Restaurant, complete with dinner and dancing, so it turned out to be similar to a small wedding reception with about 40 guests. Everyone was extremely impressed with the facility itself and were constantly complimenting me on selecting the venue. I also received numerous compliments on the food provided. We had ordered from the Italian menu and ordered chicken parmigiana which was cooked beautifully and was so tender. The fruit platter with dessert was a beautiful arrangement, with some fruit carvings that warranted pictures from impressed guests. I, personally was blown away by the effort the staff put into making sure my event was a success. I particularly worked mostly with Nadia. She was reasonable in her expectations, but also allowed plenty of flexibility on how I could decorate the place, and with any food and wine I brought in from outside. All in all, I was extremely happy with this venue and would definitely book another event there.
