I woke up to a large leak in our basement utility room. It was from our hot water heater which needed replacing. Reliance came same day with knowledgable technician that replaced it and made sure it was working. Cleaned up the water as part of the process too. As a rental it was covered! Thanks!

Worst company ever. My mother purchased a new furnace 6 years ago, every year we start it in the fall it has issues and needs a technician to get it working. Finally after returning every fall and sometimes a second visit during winter they tell her once warranty is over that the part is faulty. It is always the exact same issue every year. I asked why it was not replaced under warranty since it has been faulty since installed. Service tech could not answer and stated I have to call customer support which i did. Lead technician was supposed to call 24-48 hrs but never did. I also have door cam video of 2 different techs stating it should have been replaced with that many return calls for same issue.

I then after called another company certified for this brand of furnace who came out to help with a second professional opinion, gave the drain lines a cleanout and it works perfectly now. Apparently reliance tries to take advantage of elderly people with alzheimers charging $360 for a part when they only had to clean the system (which tech guy from other company showed me in the manual that it was poper procedure to correct that issue proving reliances lack of training)

Still wondering why your techs aren't properly trained? Or why they take advantage of elderly people? Or why no follow up call that was suppose to happen with management? Guess I have to email head corporate office.

Reliance is the single most shamelessly scamming business I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with.

I have a rental furnace of theirs breakdown and start leaking water into my basement. Called and was told to be at my place between 10-2 the next day. Made arrangements to be there but by 2: 15 no one showed, called or emailed. Called them back and was told to wait another 2 hours due to "traffic" and other appointments. Asked "if your not prompt than what am I paying for? " to which I got an empty apology and was told "this happens way more than we like to admit" and also if I was unhappy with the services, I could be forwarded to an account cancellation person (right, because that will fix my heat and stop the water leaking).

Two hour later, still nothing. Called again and was told to wait another 30 minutes which I couldn't do. Turns out they don't actually send out there own technicians and it was some sketchy sub contractor who was unprofessional with the operator when they called them and the operator cancelled the call.

At this point I made it very VERY clear that the only time I had available was 11 a.m. The next day after substantial rescheduling. The operator I was now talking to at 5 p.m. (ya know, after being told 10-2), assured me that, while they have to book in 4 hour slots, they would ensure the technician knew I could only do 11 and would call at 10: 30 and that it would actually be a Reliance technician this time. He also gave several hollow apologies and even promised to call me the next day at 12: 30 to ensure everything was solved. I thought that this operator did an good job helping.well until that all turned out to be false.

12: 30 the next day and still nothing. I called the 1 800 number once again and was told the Tech showed up at 8 a.m. While I wasn't here, closed the work order when no one answered and left. And of course, no follow up call. During this latest interaction, I was told essentially it was my fault and I was outta luck and would have to be there tomorrow for another 4 hour slot as if I had any reason to trust a single thing they were telling me at this point. Requested to speak to a manager, got put on hold, and was told I would be contacted within the hour. Nope, still waiting.

In total I have be lied to about times from this company 6 times not including another 6 times I was put on hold for "2 minutes" (aka 10 minutes I guess).

If you need furnace, water heater, AC, anything really. FIND ANYONE ELSE. They have no regard for peoples time, there homes (I still have water leaking into my basement), or general honesty. They will just make empty promises and say whatever they can to get you to hang up. There is absolutely no piece of mind when going with them, it's just a way to rip off your money. Run far and fast from this company.

Called Reliance this morning about a problem with our rental water heater, an appointment was set up to have a technician come take a look this evening between 4-8pm. I was told I would get a phone call from the technician before they arrived at my house. 8pm came and went and no phone call and no one showed up. I even got a confirmation email about the timeslot from Reliance at 6: 40. So I gave Reliance a call to see what was going on and I was told that the appointment was cancelled and we'd have to reschedule. Thank you Reliance for wasting my entire evening and not evening calling to tell me the appointment was cancelled. How is this service worth $33 a month?

People out there be aware of this company, YOU CANNOT rely on them, and this is a proof of who they are: I asked for a new installation of a water heater and agreed to their contractual terms. They sent 3 different technicians and none of them could bring the right tank, last technician disconnected a pipe which dripped all weekend to the neighbor in the lower floor. It caused a huge headache and when I call them to mitigate the issue, they sent someone on Monday.

Reliance response was "Without Prejudice" and denied to pay 2.5k worth of damages!

With all this insane heat outside, my AC decided to quit. Called Reliance, and they sent a technician the next morning. He was able to repair the AC and also explained some potential issues with it going forward. Very happy with the service

Everyone we dealt with, through the process of diagnosing the issue, the Reliance Rep who helped us determine the most suitable unit for our needs and budget, installation of the a/c unit plus further repair to a secondary issue, was so helpful, patient and understanding. They got the job done as quickly as possible to get our overheated home back down to a livable temperature. Highly recommend!

Our AC was hesitating and turning/pausing off before continuing on. Being Reliance plan members, we contacted them for a service call and they were able to give us an appointment within days.

Technician Kyle #4413 attended our home. He was very personable and adhered to protocols by wearing a mask within our home and while discussing issues in close proximity. His investigation into our issue took over an hour to diagnose the cause given the limited details we could provide him. He gave us information about next steps as a part will have to be ordered. He informed us of the cost of this repair and thankfully it’s covered by our plan.

He also offered knowledgeable opinion on the state of our AC system (it’s old) and what to expect moving forward this summer and next. Very pleased with his professionalism.

I would not give any stars if I had the option. One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with in my life. They don’t care about customer service at all. I have spent hours of my time trying to discontinue their service for months now, I haven’t used their service in months and I continue to get bills? I have been dealing with this for months with no resolution.

I called Reliance Home Comfort to book an appointment to have my A/C serviced. I ended up getting hung up on twice before speaking with an Individual who had great difficulty communicating with me, and no knowledge of anything I was talking about for what I needed service for. More upsetting, was the fact that he kept putting his hand over the receiver, to yell because there were roosters and cows making noise in the background. Obviously outsourcing Canadian jobs. I gave up repeating my information to him through all of the interruptions. Very disappointing, I called a local company and got an appointment for later the same day.

Phone on Sunday because my a/c just stopped working. I was told the next available appointment was July 5th (this was on June 27th). I called back the following day and customer service was able to get me an appointment the following day. Well, the gentlemen they sent - Mo, was brilliant. He took off the cover of my furance/air conditioner combo and did a few things. When in 10 minutes he concluded the a/c was fine it was the thermostat. Mo was professional, informative and quick. Too bad we can't ask for specific repairmen.

Our air conditioner has not been working since the beginning of June! The reliance team seems to have no clue what they are doing. We finally had technicians come out to replace a part, however the part was never shipped. That was the 6th of July. We have had no contact and had to reach out to them several times. No one can tell us if the part has been ordered. All this and we have been paying for their protection plan for years.

Update: our problem has been resolved and was done so very professionally and quickly. Very happy that our issue was dealt with and we now have cold air running through our house! Thank you!

I pay $65 a month to this company and have been for 2+ years for a coverage plan. Our air conditioner stopped blowing cold air in May and we found that there was a leak in the system. We called Reliance to set up a repair appointment and got an appointment date of June 21,4 weeks out from when we called. Absolutely ridiculous, that I have been paying for this monthly and now that I need their service they can’t come out for 1 month, and HOPEFULLY can repair it. When calling speaking with the call centre one of their receptionists actually recommended we ‘call another company’ to get quicker service. Just terrible, DO NOT pay for this protection plan as even they clearly know reaching out to a different company is a better option for customers. Not impressed as we have a newborn at home and there have been two heat waves.

I called to have my AC repaired. They gave me a waiting time of 4weeks and a half. I have been paying monthly for this service and this is the service I get? This is peak season and no service technicians. Please get your act together, as customers are not please. We have 5 family members working from home and it's an absolute oven with 33degrees or more with the humidity. I don't recommend this service. Go with a private company as you will get better service!

Against the advice of several people, we chose to stay with the reliance water heater that was installed in our new home. New water heater under a year old and we have no hot water. When we called, we were told it would be at least 2 days or the following week before a technician could come in. Neither time or dates actually work for us. We offered to troubleshoot over the phone and he put us on hold to be transferred to another department to help us troubleshoot or see if our appt could be moved up. On hold for 15 minutes.line disconnects. We call back to be told there is no other department that could help us troubleshoot or any department that could help us find an earlier time. We ask to speak with a supervisor to see if we can escalate this issue and was told they aren’t able to do any call transfers. So who were we getting transferred to originally and waited for 15 minutes to be disconnected? We hold on the phone some more. After a combined 45 minutes on the phone, we will be out of hot water for at least 2 days, with an appt time that we won’t be home for and waiting for another 1 to 2 hours for a call back from a supervisor. Apparently not having hot water for 2 days is reasonable for this company. The service department is available 24/7 but actual service is not. So very disappointed.

Our hot water heater has gone out intermittently since last friday (the Friday before the long weekend). We called immediately and asked for service, which the representative booked for the Monday morning (a holiday- between 8 and 1). When the technician didn’t show up on Monday, we called again and they let us know that they cancelled our appointment and moved it to thursday. No one made any effort to notify us of the moved appointment, nor did they offer any solutions or retribution. We have been bathing my infant in the sink using a kettle to heat the water for almost a week now. Unbelievably poor customer service- I am so thoroughly disappointed in this company, I will be looking into our options.

Edit to add: The technician that eventually showed up on Thursday was a contractor and not an employee of reliance. He replaced our hot water heater. Because of this, and not explained to us before replacing the tank, that this added more time onto our contract and will cost us at least $200 to sever ties with this company. The customer service representative (who messaged me below) was worse than useless.

Called with an emergency with our AC. We have health conditions that make having AC essential. The woman listened as I explained I would pay whatever emergency rate they charged. She then told me the earliest appointment was in SIX WEEKS. For an emergency. No thanks. I'll deal with a local company that understands what emergency means.

ETA: Oh no thanks GEMMA. I had someone local here by noon and it's all fixed.

Reliance charged me $320 for a simple service call. I decided afterward that it was on the excessive side. I called twice and call/connection was lost twice. Go figure. I decided to pay the bill but write a warning to others to be careful here. The service performed was actually to tighten one fitting on the furnace which took about 30 seconds, max. The furnace was a newer Reliance furnace also, and might have been under warranty actually. I watched the technician do the tightening of the fitting. They were on-site for about 10mins but really, most of that time was spent chatting, asking me unnecessary and irrelavent questions about the home. If you think this is a normal price to pay for a 10 min service call, then go ahead and call them for your furnace or AC service. I find this company very aggressive and their products don't seem that good.

Very unhappy. They advertise 24/7 Support. Really, Seriously? They advertise support but do not actually provide it. I had a rental water tank spring a leak on Sunday and called for support. They told me they could not come until Monday. I explained it was draining towards the carpet. We could not empty the tank as it wants to refill and could not shut it off and it was pouring out the base. I said if they cannot come I will call someone who can come and have them bring me a water heater and install it. She called the manager and he said someone would come within 4 - 5 hours. No one showed up and I called. Apparently I was told they cancelled the appointment as the fellows shift was over at 6. Seriously they lied to me making up an appointment they knew they had no intention of keeping. It was now 8 pm and can't get a plumber without paying a ridiculous emergency fee. Now I have to wait until 4-8 pm tomorrow unless I want to take a day off work (with out pay.) I feels so duped. This is not leaving me much time to find a water heater and a plumber. What a scam. *** Thanks Nicole -fake name and not an actual email address, but I solved my problem by getting and Aireone water heater instead. I'll be calling to cancel the furnace plan next week. The person who replied gave an invalid email and is not known to them when I contacted them. I was told in 2007 by the person who sold me the furnace plan that the money I was paying monthly would be credited towards a new furnace if I needed one. Turns out that was a lie the most they give you is 1 years worth. I only had them come out and light the burner twice. I cancelled all of my reliance plans. I can't trust they are telling the truth now.

I called Reliance on Monday afternoon about getting a quote for a soft water system installed in our home and within 3 hrs they had a representative over to our home. Ken Hastie was the Home Comfort Advisor that was sent and he did a great job answering all our questions. He was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable about all the products that Reliance offers. We spoke about what our home may need in the future with regards to heating and AC but I never felt pressured at all. We went with Reliance and ordered their soft water system. We were impressed how quickly they were able to send a technician over! On Wednesday our system was installed. The technician, Eric N.was polite and explained how everything worked. He kept my home neat during the installation and was very respectful and knowledgeable when answering any questions we had. We would have no trouble at all referring our friends to Reliance!

We use Reliance for our home heating, air conditioning, water heating and water softening needs. All I can say is WOW. Our water softener came with our home when we purchased it and it stopped functioning recently. We contacted Reliance to repair or replace it and they did just that. Ken Hastie was on time, professional, pleasant to work with and very knowledgeable. I felt completely at ease and confident in the service we were getting.

Furnace broke yesterday and our tenants were left without heat in the cold weather. I made an appointment with Reliance - problem solved!

I love Reliance maintenance service and used it several times over the past few years. For HVAC issues, it takes me only several minutes to book a same day appointment and Reliance takes it from there.

Shah showed up, on time, polite, professional, knew exactly what to do, he was very respectful and got right to work.
Especially during Covid I was pleased with the steps taken by reliance and Shah, to make sure we were all safe during the appointment.

We experienced a furnace failure during the first week of March during a cold snap. I called Reliance and we were able to get an appointment for a repair person and a sales representative to attend to our home to discuss the 18 year old furnace issue. I must say we were so impressed by Reliance representative Daniel Granson. He was polite, professional, and he answered all of our questions fully. He discussed our options and suggested how we should move forward with our ancient furnace. Daniel was respectful, intelligent, and a fantastic ambassador for Reliance Home Comfort. We were a little concerned the cost of a new furnace would be too high but Daniel was able to find the right furnace (Rheem) for our house. We were also impressed about the knowledge Daniel has regarding all the brands on the market and how our decision would impact our ability to get parts in Canada or across the border. The Rheem was a good call for us as the furnaces are assembled in Brantford Ontario so we will be helping to maintain jobs in Canada. Daniel provided all the information to make informative decisions regarding our new furnace. I have had more than 30 years working with people in customer service situations and Daniel checks all the boxes. He is committed to our satisfaction and we feel confident about our new furnace due to Daniel’s exceptional communication, passion, and keen commitment to customer service excellence. Like the company name says, Reliance is all about reliability. Today Kyle came to do some routine maintenance on my home's furnace, and he did a great job. He arrived during the pre-arranged time slot, called a few minutes before arriving, was courteous and professional, and took care of what needed to be done. He even gave me a filter for the furnace humidifier free of charge, to save me from having to go out and find one during COVID. Great customer service and expertise!
