The best dining experience I've had in a while. The service was amazing, especially thanks to our bartender David, and the atmosphere was phenomenal. And of course the food is top notch, as well. Can't recommend enough!
The room is absolutely stunning, but the food average at best. On our particular Sunday, it took the kitchen close to 2 hours to bring us 3 orders of Eggs Benedict. While our server was eventually apologetic, we still had to ask after water refills and coffees and were not offered anything to offset this wait - some toast? Give us our coffees for free? The table next to us almost missed their matinee. Things happen, I get it, but restaurants should be able to rally to mitigate customer dissatisfaction.
We had a reservation for 12pm and it took a full hour to get our order. The service was very unreliable. Even after all that time, the wrong orders came out, the food was cool to the touch, the quality of the dishes were mediocre at best.
What a lovely and unique place, great location as well. The food was pretty good and cocktails were great! Thought the shrimp cocktail was too pricy though and didn’t love the fries that came with the steak, tasty but just tiny little potato strips, was weird to eat. Felt like they gave us the last left overs they had.
We recently made a reservation to celebrate our daughters’ birthday, and we were extremely disappointed with the whole experience. The waiter was less than friendly, seemed preoccupied, and was unsure of the specials for the day. The mushroom toast appetizer was dry, with very little flavour, and the entrees were bland and unappealing (the presentation of the meager duck leg on top of withered “ greens” was very poor). Needless to say we will not be recommending your restaurant.
If I could give less than one star I would. Our reservation Thursday night August 10 was at 5: 30pm. In my reservation request I put a note that we were attending an 8 pm play and to advise if we needed more time. I heard nothing about this so assumed 2 hours was enough. I was excited as we used to love The Church Restaurant and we're excited to go back. We told our bed and breakfast host and guests all about the dinner. We got our drinks, a tiny bit of bread with oil and balsamic and our charcuterie board at 6pm. Then we were ignored. I watched our server mix drinks at the bar, deliver food to other tables and never come to our table. Literally nobody came back to our table until our server came at 6: 55 and said our order was coming right out. 20 minutes later at 7: 15 I went up to the bar. Our server was there mixing more drinks. I told her we needed our bill as we had a show at 8 pm. She told me to give her a minute and she left. 5 minutes later I was still standing at the bar. I went back to the table. We waited. Nobody came. No food, no server. At 7: 30 we all 4 of us went up to the host. We told him we needed to leave right now and that I had asked for my bill 15 minutes ago. Another 5 minutes went by until my server brought the cheque. Not an offer of comping the charcuterie or even a drink was made. But she did find time to mention when I paid with my card that none of it was her fault. We paid our $75 bill for 3 drinks and a small charcuterie board and left. You can be sure we shared the disappointing results at breakfast the next morning. This story sounds unbelievable.but it is totally true.
Amazing and delicious variety of dishes. Top-notch service and a uniquely beautiful atmosphere. The mushroom toast (pictured) is tasty way to start your meal, though it could almost be a meal in itself. Yum!
Just awful. 3 of the 4 meals were embarrassing quality considering the price. My wife had the worst steak I've tasted in many years, I would have sent it back. For both the appetizer and dessert they forgot to serve the same guest, we had to flag the server down to let her know. We had to do the same to order drinks, coffees, dessert. The building itself and the atmosphere were nice, but there's no chance we'll visit again.
Attended comedy show, we did not dine in. We were greeted enthusiastically, the staff accommodated seating for us at the bar. We had delightful conversation with Peter. We felt included. The drink suggestion was delish. It made our first visit very enjoyable. Kudos to the team
The food itself was pretty good. I feel anything you order here would be pretty decent. The highlight would definitely be the bread pudding. It has a caramelized bottom and with the ice cream it would’ve been superb.
The ambiance and setting is already really beautiful and relaxing
I was going to give this a 5 star until the dessert came around. It took about 20-30 min for the dessert to arrive, and in the mean time we were just waiting there. The waitress did not refill any coffee or water and trying to get their attention was pretty bad as the place is so big. We were sitting there thirsty. We were ready to tell them to cancel the desserts as we had other engagements to go to. The waitress sees my hand and she brings out the desserts. Pretty ridiculous. Service wasn’t great. And she knew I wasn’t happy.
Overall I would visit this place for the ambiance and food but don’t expect quick or regular service from the waitress.
Cool location, friendly staff. Service was really slow and felt like we were forgotten about at times. Food fine, but not noteworthy. Drinks were great!
This place was a wonderful part of our day. My wife loves Brunch so we decided to go off the beaten path and have an Anniversary Brunch!
We both had the Eggs Benedict. The portions are massive and you definitely get your values worth. I particularly enjoyed the seasoning on the wedges/home fries. We also had Mimosas and coffee.
Every member of the staff was absolutely delightful. They were all so engaging and friendly. It was hard to tell what position anyone held as they all seemed to work together as a team. We were never unattended or left wanting for a beverage.
We went on a Sunday so lots of street parking at meters (free on Sunday and holidays). There's also residential street parking in the area.
The inside and exterior were very well kept and clean. We will absolutely be adding this as a must see stop for our Stratford trips.
This place is beautiful and all the staff we encountered with were quite friendly. My sister-in-law and I went for lunch and we started with the Brie which was delicious BUT the baguettes that were served to us were rock hard and quite hard to eat. I was about to mention it to our server but it was too late… My sister-in-law actually broke her front tooth. The staff kindly boxed up our mains as we had to run to a emergency dentist appointment as we had a wedding to go to the next day. They were happy to give us a half off our bill. Customer service was great but these two stars are based on food.
The atmosphere was great! Beautiful gardens and a really lovely patio. It was definitely a unique space and worth the visit. The food was mediocre. They were also out of: seafood cakes, salad wraps and pate and we got there shortly past 12… sandwiches were a little disappointing. Not sure i would return ️
It pains me to leave a negative review, but I have to. I’ve always loved this place, but my last experience there wasn’t positive.
I’d been hyping this spot up to my boyfriend for awhile, so I was excited to finally take him. Well. They were understaffed, so service was VERY SLOW. It awhile to get seated even though we had reservations. And then we waited about 45 minutes for our food. My boyfriend’s burger was dry and the fried chicken I got was pretty burnt, so I sent it back.
I also got the spring rolls, which had a really weird texture. The shell/wonton wrapper was too thick or something because while they were crispy on the outside they were doughy and unpleasant on the inside.
The wait staff was great. Super friendly and attentive, but it was clear that there weren’t enough of them.
I really hope this place makes improvements. The interior is beautiful and the food used to be really good.
So disappointed. My reservation was at 5: 45 and by 7: 10 we still hadn’t gotten our order nor even been checked on by the server. We eventually had to miss our meal in order to make it to the evening play.
Lovely setting in a former church. Nicely landscaped garden around the building. Outdoor seating looks great even we sat inside. Food was fresh and large portions.
Great location - such high expectations as we were celebrating a birthday and anniversary. The service was so slow and the food was was cold. So disappointed.
Stunning and unique restaurant in Stratford. We had a great experience and enjoyed our meals. Only word of caution is that it takes quite a long time to get your food, so plan for a longer dinner experience. There is a lot of variety on the menu and nice vegetarian options. We ordered the brie appetizer, burger and thai noodles for dinner. The portions are generous.
A group of us were there for brunch on Sunday and it became clear that they like many in the food service industry, were experiencing staffing shortages in the kitchen and front of house. We watched the faces of the stressed servers hustling to tend to the tables. I so am tired of reading the entitled give negative reviews that slam establishments. Yes, it took a long time before we received our food however, it was clear that it had not been rushed and was prepared with care. So for a change how about remaining positive and supporting to the people who are trying their best under the circumstances. Before you open, your mouth put yourself in the shoes of the young server, trying to make money for school this semester or think about the new line cook fresh out of school working under pressure to prepare your meal. Stop and think for a minute…would you like your child or even yourself to be treated like that? No! I would make myself scarce if I knew that when I came to the table I was going to get an ear full. These folks are doing their best to get people served and out before the curtain call. People, the reality check is that we are not functioning at pre-pandemic levels so be kinder to our service industry as they work to serve you and maybe pack a picnic if you can’t be pleasant and understanding!
Food and atmosphere was lovely! But the waitress Cory was the rudest person I have ever been served by! Because we had to rush to another program ; Cory passed by going to another table, so I asked her for the bill! When she appeared not to have heard I asked again.still absolutely no recognition!
eventually we gave up on her and while my husband decided to bypass her and pay inside, she came to me without the bill, and snapped tartly that she had heard me the first time and that I just had to wait my turn! She continued her tirade that I called her “ WHILE SHE WAS SERVING ANOTHER TABLE “ I told her that I did not think she heard me since she made no sign of recognition. She continued to mutter under her breath angrily when she came back to pick up the plates.with no bill still.not knowing my husband had already sidestepped her to pay inside! I told her calmly that I used to be a flight attendant “ that s nice “ she snapped angrily. I told her we respected our passengers and NEVER spoke to them this way! Guess what sensitive Cory answered … With an angry shriek ‘! “ well you DID not respect me by calling me when I am serving another table “! We were planning to go tonight for their dinner show.but decided not to go!
She ruined my mood. I am still shaking! Such impolite people should never serve people! What a shame to spoil such a lovely place with people who have no social graces! DISAPPOINTING!
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. While we would have preferred to be seated indoors (should have specified this on our reservation request), the patio was lovely. We arrived for our dinner reservation only to be ignored by the person at the host station and told someone else would help us as they walked away. Once seated, no one greeted us for about 10 minutes, which felt exceptionally long. Thankfully, our server was attentive and patient. Sadly, our food was lukewarm (lamb) and fries undercooked (cheese burger). The Nam khao was deliciousness on a plate.
The quality of service from our server made up for the initial wait but we were disappointed in the quality of our meal.
The food was excellent, large portions. The bartender was a great host. He brought our wine bottle and poured it again at the table to top us up. The show we saw was also excellent.
With a warm atmosphere and warmer staff, this fine dinning experience is a must. The food is well balanced. Interesting starters and luxurious entrées are completed by delightful desserts and a full bar. Concerts at Revival House are a joy. A tickets get you seats at a table with a fixed menu. The old bones of the church sanctuary provide pleasurable acoustics. The proximity of the stage to your table add to the intimacy of a live act.
A beautiful unique location. Honestly, the service was very slow (compared to many other restaurants) and the food was just okay. It all sounded fantastic, but was somehow bland and underwhelming.
We were excited to finally try Revival House after moving to town just over a year ago. And we were not disappointed! The service was wonderful right from the start, by moving our table assignment to better accommodate our stroller/high chair, without even asking. The appetizers and entrees were all delicious and good portion sizes. Topping off the beautiful setting, it was so nice to hear live music again!
An outstanding experience in both food and atmosphere. Service was superb with very attentive and kind staff. We ordered the dumplings, tuna salad and a Thai curry with noodles. Excellent! We went upstairs afterwards for the full church view. Highly recommend and will definitely come back.
In July, my friend and I went on a girls' trip to Stratford. We had a wonderful time and dined at this restaurant. The quality of the food was fantastic. The hospitality was great, and the staff was accommodating to our needs. The owner Rob was so welcoming and kind. He even let me play the grand piano while everyone was dining. That made me sooo happy. We had such a pleasant time that we returned the next evening to dine again.
Thank you, Rob and your staff. Your kindness was greatly noticed. I hope to return to your restaurant. May you have much continued success!
Our first time to visit Stratford and if ever I have the chance to visit the town again I would definitely come back to this restaurant. The food is great and I'm so satisfied with my order. It's better to call ahead of time to book for a reservation. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Went for Sunday Brunch and was very lucky to get in without a reservation. Their patio is something special as you're eating right in a beautiful garden. Both my dining companion and I got eggs benedict; the florentine and avocado were quite good. Decent sized portions for the price. Service was very friendly.
We’re new to the Stratford area. Our 1st dining experience at a Stratford restaurant was a disappointment. Our 2nd visit to a restaurant in Stratford was the Revival House. We were very pleased.
The former church is wonderful for a classy dining spot. The spacious room makes for a relaxing environment.
Corry our waitress was too class. She was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable of the Stratford community offerings and very professional. The service we received was as good as it gets.
The food was excellent at reasonable prices. They obviously have a good chef.
We were surprised that a Stratford restaurant was not serve the locally distilled Junction 56 vodka. It’s a world class vodka comparable to Grey Goose.
Highly recommend the Revival House restaurant. We will return to this great restaurant and hope we get Corry as our server.
Lovely meal but a very long wait and unfortunately had the only table on the patio in FULL sun so I baked like a potato. Feeling so wonderfully full but also now horribly sun sick: (
It's such a hidden gem, Revival House. The patio is even bigger and better than last year, and with so many flowers and trees around. It's a great place to spend time before walking around the town. The food is good, and creative. We go back at least once a year, if not more.
We enjoy going out. Yesterday we went to this superb restaurant which we didn’t know before. We passed a lovely experience there with fine food and an experienced team and an impressive cuisine. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we will no doubt visit again very soon. We highly recommend.
Just got back from Revival and omg! What a beautiful space. If your looking to plan a special event or intimate wedding, this is definitely the place! The whole ambience of Revival House is absolutely breathtaking! Highly recommend!
So glad to be able to return to Revival House to celebrate our second anniversary where we were warmly welcomed back as old friends. Such a wonderful venue with delicious food and gracious hosts. We have dined both on the outdoor patio where we were treated to live music, and in the spacious dining room - with tables well separated during these COVID days. The perfect place to celebrate a special occasion!
Highly recommend you come! This amazing spot is an absolute gem. They had live music, brunch, excellent service and it has cathedral-like features. It’s an inspiring spot. We had the mussels and eggs benedict and they were delicious.
This is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food. Booked their event room and Jonathan was very easy to work with and responded quickly over email. I would recommend to everyone! I will definitely be back in the future. The beet salad is absolutely delicious:)
Husband and I went to Revival House to give ourselves a much needed break from Covid life. Absolutely beautiful ambiance with the structure of the building and garden work specifically flowers, complimenting each other perfectly on the patio! We actually had the pleasure of speaking for a considerable amount of time to the gentleman who is responsible for the flowers, etc and we enjoyed the conversation and distant interaction. There was also a gentleman who did nice soothing type of music, which was a treat to have as it appears to be rare to have live music at any given time let alone during a pandemic. Wonderful, prompt and friendly service added to our experience. Only thing stopping us from giving a 5 star is that we felt it was slightly expensive for what we got. Overall would recommend to others and should we find ourselves in the area again, definitely would return!
Small menu, but the food was delicious. Was there for a live music show, so service was a bit slow, but that was understandable. Drinks were delicious! Beautiful ambiance.
Fantastic space, serving wine since 1850, which is nice. Very cool space for cocktails, dinner or weddings. Glad I don’t live closer, I’d be here daily.
Salmon came rare when ordered medium rare, small portions of the chicken dish, asparagus was substituted for Brussels sprouts but only came with 2 pieces of stem about an inch long. Very disappointed. We won’t be back.
I think everyone who visits Stratford needs to check out this restaurant. It is beautiful! It would be an incredible wedding reception venue. We shared small plates/starters as opposed to ordering mains. We enjoyed everything. The only thing we wished was that the sourdough bread had been toasted/warmed to go with the salted butter. The drink we ordered was to die for! I can't remember the name but it was a pot of raspberry tea poured over ice, vodka and chambord - served with fresh mint, blueberries and an orange wedge.
We had an anniversary party at The Revival House. There were 21 of us and we had a fabulous time! The staff was amazing, food was excellent and service was outstanding. All the attention to details didn't go unnoticed by my family: tables all set up when we got there, water poured, sparklers on the cake, lots of staff so everyone was taken care. A BIG thank you for making our party so memorable!
I love Photographing at the Revival House! Firstly one of the most gorgeous and unique venues ever! It is literally a marriage between beautiful traditional cathedral architecture and Modern elegance. They also serve an amazing variety of farm to table food and local craft beers and wine. Don't even get me started about staff. The planner Alysha will go above and beyond to make sure all her couples have the perfect day. I would highly recommend the revival house if you are looking for something unique! The perfect wedding venue!
We were in town this Saturday to see a show and randomly chose this place for dinner before the theater because this was closer to our hotel. Mark was very helpful in providing last minute reservation. The food was very delicious and Linda was a fantastic host very good service. Only thing little over priced.you should definitely try this place.
After looking forward to this reservation for weeks, I’m disappointed to say our dinner experience at Revival House was awful.
Our reservation was for 6pm, there were only 3 mains to choose from on the menu (they ran out of steak), and the restaurant wasn’t even close to capacity. Plenty of servers on the floor but it seemed like no one knew what they were doing.
Our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive. Because our seats were facing the bar and kitchen, we were able to see that our drinks were made within minutes and ready at the bar but our server had simply forgotten about them.
Once we ordered our food, it took over an hour and fifteen minutes for it to arrive at our table. During this time we asked our server what was going on and she seemed shocked that we would expect our meal to arrive within an hour of being seated. We soon realized it wasn’t just us, many patrons who had been seated before us were also waiting an hour or more for their meals. Instead of explaining what was going on or showing any sign of accountability, table after table was brought cold bread.
When our food finally arrived it was cold and our server was in disbelief and basically called me a liar. The manager came out and apologized profusely but by that time the damage was done. We were in such a rush to get to the theatre, so we scarfed down our mediocre food and left.
This was the second time we had visited the Revival house and this time everything was absolutely horrible. We had arrived on a Tuesday evening and there were 3 tables full outside and 1 inside, so it was not busy. We were greeted promptly and sat down very quickly. Our order was taken quickly as well. Everything went downhill from there. The French Onion Soup tasted like there was more salt than soup. This was sent back.we were not offered to substitute with another appetizer. My Royal with Cheese tasted like it was coated in bacon grease and not cooked well. The fries for both the steak and the burger tasted like they were taken out of a fridge and microwaved not freshly made. Lastly, even though there was only 1 table by the time our food came we had to ask for water constantly (especially after the soup). When we went to use the bathrooms, the foyer of the bathroom smelled as if a sewage pipe burst. The only thing I was told was "sorry to hear that" and "the French Onion Soup was reduced too much, that's why it tasted so salty" after expressing my frustration with the dinner. Neither my wife nor I felt well after eating there and it really bothered us while we were at the play we had purchased tickets for.
I took my wife and mother to Revival House for their Mother's Day brunch, and then ate more than was prudent. The deliciousness of the food made up for the extreme discomfort that resulted from my gluttony. Every buffet item was impeccably put-together, and then presentation was beautiful. The atmosphere of the old church is wonderful. I visited once before, for a scotch-and-chocolate tasting, but a real meal is definitely the way to go.
Absolutely beautiful space with lots of fun and interesting events - haven’t had the pleasure of sampling much of their menu but if it all tastes as good as it looks then I’m sure it’s delicious!
We’ve had incredible brunch. Eggs benedict and the burger were outstanding. The frites were amazingly flavoured with herbs. And in a beautiful setting! The location was perfect for going to the theatre. It was a great place to start our latest visit to Stratford.
This was a stroke of luck that we randomly chose this place for dinner before the theatre. Such a lovely ambiance and architecture- food was fantastic too! Service was a little odd how they brought the soup after our main but.was great all around.
Over-priced for what you get and overly pretentious menu. I visited as part of my research for wedding venues and this was the front-runner until I actually ate the food and then it was immediately removed from my list of options. Yes, the interior is gorgeous but tiny portion sizes and inflated cost (along with a list of ingredients most people have never heard of) were enough to make me walk away.
