Working with Rijus to design our forever home was a great experience. Jason and his team are extremely knowledgeable, and helped us every step of the way. Designing our home during COVID meant that we were unable to tour other homes for ideas and inspiration. Jason gave suggestions base on his own building experience that were very helpful.
There was a slight miscommunication with our heating and cooling method. We were leaning towards geothermal but an HVAC design was done for propane. Though Rijus couldn’t provide an HVAC design for a geothermal system at the time, Jason helped us figure out how to get one.
Overall, we’re very happy with the design of our home and our experience with Rijus.
We don’t plan on building again, but if we did, we’d be happy to work with Jason and his team again.

Like many couples you have those conversations of what your dream home looks like. After several years we found a property to realize that dream. Jason and his team were amazing. They took our vision and created a beautiful home. The whole experience with Jason and team was enjoyable. They asked lots of questions to get to know you and your family needs. Have great insights from their experience and good suggestions to improve on things you may have not considered. As you go through process, they were very helpful with the changes and questions we had. They customer service was fantastic which for us was the best part of the experience.

Dealing with Jason has been an incredibly frustrating experience. It's disheartening when you put in the effort to reach out through phone calls and emails multiple times, only to be met with complete disregard as he fails to return your calls. It's truly baffling how someone can continue to operate a business while treating people in such a disrespectful manner.

We received both custom home and detached shop drawing from Rijus Home Design. Jesse H.was an integral part in bringing our dream home to life. He was easy to communicate back and forth with and his patience with us has been greatly appreciated. Rijus Home Design - Jason Schilstra designed our 2500sq ft custom home for our family 10 years ago. Not only is his attention to detail like non other, but he makes the experience painless and personal. He personally came to our property to see the lay of the land to really understand what we were envisioning. We recommend anyone we personally know to go see Jason for their plans and he’s exceeded all expectations. You’ll be thankful you went with this business.

My wife and I hired Rijus to rework our purchased drawing to ontario building code and make alterations to specific areas of the plan. The entire process was easy and painless, from initial meetings to finished drawing package. They also helped us deal with the conservation authority which helped speed up dealing with that nightmare. We are very grateful for the recommendations, work and help that they had provided us. I personally would recommend Rijus, they made us feel as though we had worked with them for years over multiple projects although we had never met before.

We are finally living in our dream home that was designed with the help of Jason and his team. Everything was thought out in detail and there were never any problems when we needed to make some alterations. A lot of this work was done during COVID and Jason was still able to meet with us to get the work done. His pricing was VERY fair compared to other companies we approached and his service was impeccable. When the city required some more information or something was missing Jason quickly helped us get them the information. There are not a lot of companies out there with his level of skill and service. I have dealt with Rijus home design for the past two years. We specified the house design and they drew it up almost as requested, the problem being that they took 4 months longer then they told us.
They would not return emails or phone calls. We had to redesign the plans this past year because of lot coverage issues. Jason assured us that he would get this done asap. That was Dec2021. We have been waiting for the final drawings now for months. He wont reply to emails or phone calls. We have paid him for original design so I guess he figures why should he. Due to a timeline constraint we have now hired a new architect and she has finished our plans in two weeks and has returned every phone call and every email.
The amount of emails I have sent to Jason and Kelly asking and pleading for some results has been more than enough to garner a response of some sort. My advice is go somewhere else or get the timeline in writing and don't pay until you have the design.

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recomend Rijus to anyone who is thinking about building a house. Jason is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. Before, durring and after the service is second to none. I couldn't be happier with the end result.
