10/10 not only the best restaurant in canada but also the best gluten free restaurant I’ve ever been too! The owners I believe are the ones who helped us and they really care about each and every dish that is brought out. They want to make sure we enjoy the food and will do accommodations to your liking! Also the gluten free cookie was amazing too. Presentation of each dish was so cute and very appetizing. I can’t wait to come back to Canada and will for sure be coming back every time!
I really like the decor. Food & service was excellent. We had to look for street parking which is meter parking. Well worth it though. We ordered 4 appetizers, soup and 2 main dishes for 3 people. They do have a liquor license. My husband ordered a beer. Food was delicious. Service was really good. Now, the only thing that I was uncomfortable with was the narrow staircase going down the stairs to the washrooms. They are an awkward elevation pitch down. These were awkward for me so will be difficult with anyone who has mobility issues. Not recommended for anyone with disabilities. I didn't see a washroom on the main floor. Call ahead for reservations. We went for a late lunch and there was no line up then. But I would imagine this place is hopping during dinner hour.
I called to enquire if their menu was celiac friendly (not just gluten free, but people with celiac disease) and I was told to check online. Furthermore, the person on the phone was very rude and unhelpful. I reiterated the fact that I would like this question to be clarified over the phone and not online as celiac disease and gluten free options are two different things. The person over the phone was very rude and hostile. You’ve just lost two customers.
Will and the female server (sadly didn't get her name) gave the best Toronto experience today! We had them during the last hour before closing today. They were very approachable, caring, overall great hospitality and great food. If I didn't live in the States I would come again soon just to see these two! They were great company! The restaurant was very accommodating to my friend and his mom's Celiac needs which I really enjoyed!
I was recently diagnosed with a gluten intolerance and I was so excited when I discovered this restaurant. I didn’t think I would ever be able to eat this style of food again because there are so many gluten-containing contaminants in restaurants that prepare this kind of food. I just ordered for the first time and the food is incredible, I am so happy. I’m thankful this restaurant exists. Looking forward to dining in person when everything re-opens.
We love this place so much! The food is amazing. There’s such variety too. As a Celiac, it’s incredible having so many gluten-free options. Never thought I could have dim sum again, so it’s such a treat to be able to eat foods I only dreamed of having. Their allergy-friendly menu and well-informed staff are so appreciated. They’ve got a number of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. The staff are incredibly kind and generous too. We do a mix of takeout and dining in, and the quality of service and food is excellent each time. Highly recommend. Thanks, Riz team! See you again soon.:)
This is one of my fave restaurants in Toronto! I have celiac disease and it is one of the only places to get gluten-free Chinese/Asian-fusion food. They are very knowledgeable about cross contamination and have a dedicated gluten-free fryer for fried items. Some of my fave dishes are the fresh&spring rolls, Tom yum soup, Singapore vermicelli and General Tao Chicken. They always offer friendly service as well!
This used to be my go to gluten free restaurant, driving over a hour to get there sometimes but not anymore. They increased their prices, have not updated the prices online, reduced the quantity of items you get and changed the recipe. Food hasn’t tasted the same since they changed the ingredients. Too bad! The old recipe was to die for! The service used to be top notch too, the family working the door/tables was amazing! Now there’s a male there that I’ve never seen before who has attitude and is not very friendly.
We had the Crispy beef, we took home, and it was outstanding. We followed Terri's instructions and Yum Yum Yummy it was. I cannot wait to go back and have more and bring home some for another day. Just love quality Chinese food.
Will definitely return to The Riz. Terri and her team were awesome, professional and provide excellent service. We tried the Crispy Beef, Szechuan Chicken and Pork Fried Rice and they were all really good. The chicken spring rolls were a great appetizer too. Portions are plentiful. The menu selection is very good, something for everyone. And the piece d resistance, it's all GLUTEN FREE.
Had amazing food! As someone with celiac I cannot thank Riz enough for creating food that tastes amazing and is 100% celiac safe. It took time to create these incredible recipes. I have not felt comfortable enough to eat at restaurant in over a year due to cross contamination worries. I appreciate Riz's dedication to becoming a certified gluten free kitchen so THANK YOU. I will be coming back whenever i am in town
My boyfriend and I came here for a date night and had a lovely experience. The atmosphere was cozy, i loved seeing the chandeliers when we walked in. There were so many items I wanted to order - I was talking about coming back before even eating- Our server was also warm and friendly. Thanks for a great experience
The sorriest looking orange beef and General Tao I have ever had. Couldn’t eat it for the looks, and taste was awful. Not worth the money at all. First and last time. Big disappointment.
My stomach was really upset and I got a very bad headache after having lunch there. I don't know if it's because of the ingredients or the quality of alcohol, but it does not happen to me often that I got food poisoning.
I’ve been coming to Riz on young for many years and last night was my first time at the new location. Our server was kind and accommodating. The food came piping hot and as delicious as always. Riz will always be my go to for Asian food:)
Great patio, and a celiacs dream of Asian cuisine. I’ve had the Singapore vermicelli, pad Thai, veggie wontons, and edamame beans. It’s a peace of mind atmosphere for anyone allergic to gluten.
I normally go to ritz on Saint Clair which I absolutely love beause im ciliac.but they were closed so I tried the young st location.
Just in comparison between the 2 restaurants, Spring rolls were half the size and that's being generous. The chicken fried rice didn't even fill up the container (it was like they gave a 1/2 portion) And the beef and broccoli they forgot to put the beef. 3 items came to 66$. That felt like they scraped together my food from somebody else's table.
Saying that I was disappointed in my dinner is being polite. I definitely will wait for the st clair location to be open for a more worthy experience. Please do t change!
Staff were lovely. Very disappointed in food Also they didn’t have a few menu options Being celiac want to support restaurants that support me It was way too expensive for what we got Don’t know what has happened with this restaurant. We were at Yonge St also disappointed. Which is why we decided to try St Clair We’re not going back.
Amazing gluten free options, so rare to find tasty gf Chinese food. Love the hot and sour soup, veggie dumplings and the general Tao chicken is very addictive!
Was very disappointed. I had “pad see ewe” but there was nothing like described on menu. No eggs or green pepper. Didn’t taste even garlic. Also noodle was just thin Pad Thai noodle not fat noodle that usually use for pad see ewe.
Drove all the way from Montreal to try this place. My girlfriend is celiac and never had the chance to eat Chinese food as it always contains gluten. The food is delicious, unlike many other restaurants, you cant even tell that the food is gluten free. Had the general tao chicken and crispy beef, and the taste and texture was just like any none gluten free restaurant, with even better taste.
I recently ordered here for a friend who is severely celiac, and she was delighted with the service that she received in the quality of the food. She felt great after.
I was recently diagnosed with a gluten allergy and I was so excited when I discovered this restaurant. I didn’t think I would ever be able to eat this style of food again because there are so many gluten-containing contaminants in restaurants that prepare this kind of food. Loved the food and it's gluten free. We ordered a few dishes including their 5 grain rice, halibut and shanghai noodles. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. They are super busy so order in advance. Prices are reasonable too with their fresh healthy selection. Chicken and seafood were great. Cannot wait until dine in returns in the city to try out their dining experience.
Very disappointed I understand during covid there is less customers However food was old and taste resteamed more than once or microwave Food is extremely over priced and quality was well below par
So amazingly yummy! We feasted on 9 different dishes and every single one was delicious. It's so hard to find gluten-free restaurants in Toronto and Riz is at the top of my list. Thank you for making my food cravings a reality!
Not just an amazing selection of gluten free Asian dishes, but so delicious I wouldn't have known it was gluten free! Very nice and friendly service too! Can't wait to go back to try more dishes with gluten free friends!
Had a lovely dinner on a random Wednesday night. Can’t wait to go back. Hostess I think was the owner- she runs the place so well! The food was so delicious! Would definitely recommend to all my family and friends. As a celiac I feel good about the food (didn’t feel sick after).
This food was amazing! We hadn't been able to get chinese food for a while because of allergy concerns, their gluten free options are excellent. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Ordering was easy and the staff were pleasant. I will order again many times.
Great restaurant. Beautiful decor, kid friendly. It also offers plant based Asian fusion and gluten free menu. Staff is super helpful! Wonderful new addition to the exciting restaurant scene on St. Clair.
Food is great! Price is great! Service is fast and friendly. The menu is not as extensive as the Yonge St location, but the quality is the same. There is enough variety for my family. See you soon.
Excellent food and service, and great value, too. The photo is of crispy lemongrass halibut, and was taken after eating the massive spring roll. Will be back!
The gluten free menu is fantastic, now that I have to be serious about cutting out the gluten. The best time to go if you can is lunch Saturday. The place is a little calmer.
