I can only give my review of this treasured memory from when roti lady was in Parkdale. This is easily almost 10 years ago but she remains a very pleasant memory of sweet service, abundant quantity at a price we very much appreciated on our limited budgets. It was a very humble roti shack back then which was part of the charm. I miss it so.
The Butter Chicken here was hot beyond reason. I can't tell you if it was any good, can't taste anything around the heat, I THINK it was pretty bland though. The roti was excellent.
Great Roti! I had the chicken Roti with added spinach and pumpkin. It was delicious, and huge! It was so large I actually weighed it It weighed 2.5 lbs! Michael was largely entertaining while we waited for our food to be made.
The restaurant itself could definitely use an update. However, the food is delicious! It takes awhile to get your order only because everything is cooked fresh.
Best Caribbean food I've ever had in my life! The oxtail and roti is 10/10. I drive over an hour to come here because the flavour, portions and prices are that good.
The curry chicken roti is very good! I like that the restaurant had a family feel as it seems like the roti lady's adorable little grandsons hang out there.
I would suggest ordering ahead or using Skip The dishes as it takes time for her to make her food. It's definitely worth the wait.
However, I would not suggest dining in. It is a bit crowded and has a dated feel to the decor.
Hands down the beat roti and doubles in the GTHA. Quality, prices and portions can't be beat. This place has been a staple of mine for almost 20years, right back to the Parkdale beginnings. Happy to have it as my local again.
Best Doubles ever.and cheapest. Take out only. Paying for taste and best price.not atmosphere. Wish they were open more often and closer to my area. But worth traveling for.
I've been a fan since she was located in Parkdale. It's super affordable and the best roti I've had in Toronto. There are lots of options, including some amazing vegetarian items. Hot, fresh, cheap, and delicious - everything I love! I'll always recommend Roti Lady as the best in a city with many options.
We've been taking out food from Roti Years for a few years. The food is worth waiting for (we've waited months to find her open). We recently order four different rotis and no one was disappointed with their order. The oxtail roti is bone and all and very rich and packed with flavour. Good selection of delicious vegan option which makes this a popular choice for take out since it offers something for everyone. Having gone there for years, we know not to expect a lot of social interaction. For those who commented about the wait, we call first and food is always ready on time. She doesn't have food sitting around to be served so expect to wait if you're walking in. She also doesn't always have what's on the menu so calling is recommended. (When she's busy, calling a few times is what it takes. It would be good if she changed her voicemail when she is closed though). For those who want it spicier, ask for hot sauce. She makes it herself and also sells it by the jar - it's excellent. No, I'm not related to her in any way but just trying to support a hard-working local business that deserves to stay in business because her food is delicious.
I drove over 25 mins to try the doubles here thinking they would be worth it.boy was I wrong. The doubles tasted sweet for some reason, they had no pepper sauce and over all it lacked flavour. The lady running this joint has no manners she didn’t even offer an apology for making me wait over 20 minutes for doubles? I wouldn’t return or recommend this place to anyone.waste of time and money and waste of a cheat day for me!
Update after Vicky Kapoor funny how you got involved and were eavesdropping and poking your nose and apologized in the end now you come and review this place and give 1 star to Mona's because I praised it in front of you? Find an actual job and stop stalking ladies. Slow and terrible customer service old reheated food will not go back
The reviews are either paid for or the old lady working here begged customers to write them. There is no way this place can get good reviews the old lady seems to be babysitting her grandchildren or as a side business. I went from Richmond Hill to try the doubles the joint was so noisy with the TV blasting and the kids tablet as well there was NO other customer I ordered 4 doubles and thought it is a local small business I would leave a good tip my total would be around $7 or so I took out a $10 for the food and another $5 for tip making it $8 however I waited over 25 minutes I kid you not for my order rang the bell the lady yelled from behind 2 shower curtains be out in a minute which turned out to be 5 so total wait time 25 minutes doubles were sweet and not wrapped good WASTE OF TIME, MONEY AND FOOD NEVER AGAIN!
I don't write reviews good or bad but this I had to the food and service is an absolute disappointment fake reviews praising the place shame on people with telling lies making other people go here waste time and money like me
Food was okay. My only issue was when she shook her head when we asked to add something to the order. She didn't say it was sold out or anything just shook her head. Won't be going back there.
Found this place by chance and although it was a bit rough on the inside, the food was amazing! I'm newly vegan and finding options can be very hard, especially Caribbean. We were pleasantly surprised to find there was a wide range of vegan menu choices. My sister and I were blown away by the flavour in our squash, potato and chickpea rotis! One of the best I've ever had! A must try!
The food at Roti Lady is absolutely scrumptious! I discovered this tiny little take-out restaurant just yesterday and I went back again today. Rice & Peas with Stew Salmon, Jerk Chicken with rice & peas, Chicken Roti, various veggie rotis are the items we've ordered for our family over two days. I will eventually go through almost everything on the menu. Highly recommend!
Ordered a curry chicken roti today via door dash and I must say this is THE wickedest roti I’ve had in Toronto to this day (coming from a Caribbean)! Soo good that she turned a non-reviewer into a reviewer. Please don’t ever change your recipe and I will be ordering here regularly!
This is a nice little restaurant. I called for pickup and the food was ready in 20 minutes, and it was so delicious. We got the vegan dinner and jerk chicken with rice. Massive portions (enough for more than one meal for me) for a great price. Very tasty.
My gf and I, got the large Oxtail/rice and peas dinner, and the large curry chicken roti. Both were very big portions and the flavors were really good. A little on the spicy side, but we like that, so it was fine. Cost us only $21. I think its strictly a take out place, but definitely worth trying
Great food, as a vegan I love that they have vegan options especially because they’re full of flavour. Thank you roti lady for awesome food, prices and portions I will always come back and recommend!
Dinner was awesome! We tried 5 different kinds of Roti. 1) Goat Curry 2) Chicken Stew 3) Squash-Potatoe-ChickPeas 4) Potato & 5) Chicken Curry.only warning is that the 1st 2 had bones. The flavours were awesome! The prices are very reasonable. I'll be back. Thank you.p. S.enjoyed watching their kid play amusing himself while I waited.nice family atmosphere:)
Excellent hidden gem for vegetarians and vegans. All their vegetarian dishes there are vegan! Highly recommend the vegan dinner! Large serving, easily 3 meals in one and only 11 bucks! Rice and peas with many stews on top and that pumpkin they put on it too is amazing! It's now my weekly spot. The doubles are really good there too. If you've never tried doubles before its mouth watering and delicious! 5 stars. Oh and cheap!
Delicious food, great prices, not the cleanest restaurant I’ve ever been in but the first two points outweigh the last point. Very vegan friendly. 4.5 stars. No Monster Energy available but plenty of other drink options.
Not following covid-19 regulations. No mask wearing, no sanitizers. Heard them sneezing and coughing while making my order. I listened for the tap hoping they would wash their hands after sneezing, but they didn't.
Placed an order, my food should ready in 30 min, when I arrived there 45 min later, my food was still not ready this roti lady needed another 10 min. While I am waiting, a customer walks in orders some food and his food is ready before mine? ! When I am trying to pay, her grandson had destroyed her machineThis place is a hot mess! This old lady is trying to run a business while taking care of her grandkids and she is all over the place. After all that, the food was very disappointing!
First time trying the chicken roti, it was very good. I recommend this place, but advise you to order ahead for pick up to avoid the wait. Great prices, I got a large which lasted for two meals.
This lady has phenomenal food but that is the only thing, lucky for her, the reason she has survived thus far. Her hours are all over the place and you are fortunate if you ever get ahold of her. She is closed most of the time and she has a grandchild who causes havoc in that place. The grandchild is misbehaved and she has no control over him. He certainly would turn away many potential customers. Lucky for her that her food and portions are of great value because if not for that, she certainly would be out of business by now.
Best Roti I have ever had, so worth the wait. Really homely atmosphere, the decor takes you back to the islands. Friendly staff. Overall great experience. If your looking for an authentic and fresh roti look no further. Love the family run aspect. I would recommend calling ahead to avoid wait times. Roti Lady you've got yourself a new regular.
Just tried Roti Lady for the first time. Ordered the jerk chicken special. For $7, I thought it was great value. Although I like jerk to be a bit spicy, this was a mild sauce with good flavour. I look forward to trying a roti next time.
Best Roti around. Everything tried from there I like. Size and price are great. Owners always polite and friendly. Highly recommended. Only downside is, not always open when I go.
This place obviously knows how to take care of their customers. Regularly with a very nice demeanor. The food is fairly priced, constantly delightful and clean.
So delish.best rotis in Scarborough. Never going anywhere else.this is her specialty she knows how to make roti.and the currys are crazy about 40 kinds
I like supporting local, but I bought 2 roti here before and it was just really bad. My mom and I got sick from it for a couple of days. The curry was spoiled. I believe it cook a long time before and then frozen/ or put in the fridge and then reheated. Thankfully it was nothing worst. I hope it don’t happen to anyone else. Please take better care in serving customers.
